A Palestinian citizen was killed and dozens others injured on Friday when the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) opened fire at the peaceful protesters participating in the Great March of Return near Gaza's eastern border.
Spokesman for Gaza Ministry of Health Ashraf al-Qedra said that Ahmad Yaghi, 25, was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers east of Gaza city.
Al-Qedra added that about 220 protesters were injured, 90 of whom by live ammunition.
The PIC reporter said that the IOF heavily fired live ammunition and teargas canisters at the protesters, while Palestinian youths set a number of car tires on fire in an effort to block the Israeli snipers' view.
In a related context, Hebrew media sources reported that fires flared up in 15 different locations in Israeli settlements neighboring the Gaza Strip by fire kites launched from the enclave.
The PIC reporter said that the Hamas delegation that newly arrived in the Gaza Strip took part in the border protests.
At least 150 Palestinians have been killed and over 16,000 injured by Israeli gunfire since the start of the Great March of Return on 30th March.

A Palestinian has been shot dead and 120 have been wounded after Israeli forces opened fire on thousands of peaceful demonstrators during a march in the besieged Gaza Strip.
The Gaza Health Ministry said that Ahmed Yaghi, 25, was killed by a sniper near the fence that separates the occupied territories from the east of Gaza City on Friday.
Health Ministry sources noted that 50 of the wounded Palestinian protesters were taken to nearby hospitals, while the rest were treated at the scene of the protests. Most of the casualties were due to the Israeli troops's use of live fire.
The Israeli military said some 8,000 people took part in the protests at five sites along the fence.
Tensions have been running high near the fence since March 30, which marked the start of a series of protests dubbed “The Great March of Return.” Palestinian protesters demand the right to return for those driven out of their homeland.
The clashes in Gaza reached their peak on May 14, the eve of the 70th anniversary of the Nakba Day, or the Day of Catastrophe, which coincided this year with Washington's relocation of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to occupied Jerusalem al-Quds.
Israeli fire has taken the lives of at least 157 Palestinians since March 30.
Nearly 15,000 Palestinians have also sustained injuries, of whom at least 360 are reportedly in critical condition.
On June 13, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution, sponsored by Turkey and Algeria, condemning Israel for Palestinian civilian deaths in the Gaza Strip.
Gaza has been under Israeli siege since June 2007, causing a decline in living standards as well as unprecedented unemployment and poverty.
Israel has also launched several wars on the Palestinian sliver, the last of which began in early July 2014 and ended in late August the same year. The Israeli military aggression killed nearly 2,200 Palestinians and injured over 11,100 others.

Israeli tanks on Wednesday evening fired a missile at a group of Palestinian citizens east of al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.
The PIC reporter said that the tanks opened fire at a group of Palestinian youths after they managed to remove part of the border fence.
He added that no casualties were reported among the targeted youths.

Israeli forces shot and injured a Palestinian youth east of the besieged Gaza Strip on Tuesday afternoon.
Witnesses told Ma'an that Israeli forces fired live ammunition towards a group of Palestinian youths who allegedly pulled apart the Israeli security fence near Nahal Oz Israeli military post on the outskirts of the al-Shujaiyyeh neighborhood east of Gaza City.
The injured youth was transferred to a hospital for treatment.

Al-Qedra said that the injured youth was immediately transferred to al-Shifa Hospital for treatment.
He added that a child and a young man were also shot and injured east of al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.

It said the two Palestinians were killed by Israeli missiles fired from aircraft, east of Jabalia, in northern Gaza.
The two slain Palestinians have been identified as ِِAyman Nafeth Rabea’ Najjar, 24, and Mohannad Majed Jamal Hammouda, 24, from Beit Lahia, in northern Gaza.
Media sources in Gaza said the two Palestinians were killed near the Eastern Graveyard, in Jabalia, and added that their severely mutilated corpses were moved to the Indonesian Hospital, in northern Gaza.
Israeli Ynet News said the two were reportedly near the parameter fence, when “Israeli jets struck targets,” in the area.
It added that the army only issued a brief statement in which it just said, “it does not address foreign reports.”

The Hamas movement launched nine rockets and mortar shells from the besieged Gaza Strip towards Israel on predawn Thursday.
According to Hebrew-language news outlets, while sirens sounded in the Gaza-Israeli border communities, the Iron Dome missile defense system intercepted one of the launched rockets.
Following the killing of three Palestinians in Gaza, the Israeli army demanded that Israeli settlers of the Gaza-Israeli border communities remain in bomb shelters.
The Hamas movement military wing announced that it would strongly respond to the Israeli airstrikes and were committed to shelling Israel.
Spokesperson of the Hamas movement, Fawzi Barhum, said that "the amount of Israeli escalation against Gaza reflect the real intentions of the occupation to kill..."
Barhum said that the movement cannot remain silent towards Israeli actions and crimes; "it is our duty defend and protect our people."
Meanwhile, sources told Ma'an that Israeli naval forces also opened fire on Palestinian fishing boats as they were working off the coast of the southern Gaza Strip.
No injuries were reported.
The Israeli army regularly detains and opens fire at unarmed Palestinian fishermen, shepherds, and farmers along the border areas if they approach the unilaterally declared buffer zone.
In addition, regarding the recent events in Gaza and Syria, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held security meetings overnight with Israeli Defense Minister, Avigdor Lieberman, Chief of General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Gadi Eizenkot, and National Security Council Chairman, Meir Ben-Shabbat.
