Israeli army announces death of 2 soldiers
The Israeli army on late Saturday said two soldiers who had been wounded in Gaza in recent days had died of their wounds, bringing the number of soldiers killed since the beginning of the ground invasion to 42.
The Israeli army on late Saturday said two soldiers who had been wounded in Gaza in recent days had died of their wounds, bringing the number of soldiers killed since the beginning of the ground invasion to 42.
Israel's security cabinet late Saturday voted to extend the humanitarian truce with Gaza militants for 24 hours, media reported.
The Israeli newspaper Haaretz said on its website that after being pressed by the UN, Israel agreed to halt airstrikes and shellings on the Gaza Strip until midnight Sunday, but would continue locating and destroying tunnels.
The report said the army would respond to any violation of the ceasefire.
A diplomatic source had told Haaretz earlier that Hamas would agree to a 24-hour extension of the ceasefire.
Earlier Israeli media reported that Israel had extended the humanitarian ceasefire from 8 p.m to 12:00 a.m., but a Hamas spokesman said the Islamist movement had not been consulted about the extension.
Al-Qassam Brigades said it fired rockets into Israel 40 minutes after the truce officially expired.
A Ma'an reporter in Gaza said that following rocket fire, Israeli forces shot a man dead in Deir al-Balah and shelled an area east of Rafah.
Also late Saturday, the Israeli army said two soldiers who had been wounded in Gaza in recent days had died of their wounds, bringing the number of soldiers killed since the beginning of the ground invasion to 42.
Another rocket was intercepted by the Iron Dome over Kiryat Ekron in central Israel.
The Palestinian death toll in Gaza rose to well over 1,000 on Saturday, as search teams recovered bodies from destroyed buildings during the brief ceasefire.
Some 151 bodies were recovered during the 12-hour window, according to the Ministry of Health.
Nearly 6,000 Palestinians have been injured in the offensive.

Israeli forces shot a man dead and resumed shelling on the Gaza Strip late Saturday, amid reports that a humanitarian ceasefire had been extended for four hours until midnight.
Ashraf al-Qidra, spokesman for the Palestinian Ministry of Health, said in a statement that Naem Abd al-Aziz Abu Thaher, 36, was shot dead by Israeli forces in eastern Deir al-Balah.
A Ma'an reporter in Gaza said that Israeli forces had also shelled an area east of Rafah.
An Israeli army spokeswoman said she was unaware of any new strikes on Gaza.
The attacks came after Israeli media reported that officials had agreed to extend a humanitarian truce for four hours. The truce was initially scheduled to end at 8:00 p.m., but was to be extended until midnight.
There was no formal announcement for the extension of the ceasefire, and Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said the Islamist movement had not been consulted about the extension.
Meanwhile, al-Qassam Brigades said in a statement that it targeted Tel Aviv with two M75 rockets at 8:40 p.m, 40 minutes after the end of the official ceasefire period.
Militants also fired rockets at Nahal Oz, the statement said.
Minutes after the official ceasefire expired, Israeli media reported that mortar shells hit open areas in Eshkol Regional Council.
Additionally, rocket sirens were heard in various towns in southern Israel.

By now, it is crystal clear that the Judeo-Nazi state of Israel has committed a real holocaust in the Gaza Strip. The shocking scenes of incinerated children and women are indescribable as the odor of death is wafting out everywhere. The magnitude of death and destruction simply defies linguistic description. It is stronger than all the words in the world.
The ongoing holocaust is by no means an aberration or anomaly as far as the Zionist Jewish mindset is concerned.
Israeli officials and ordinary Jews are quite gleeful and boastful about the murder of civilians. (Up to 80% of the Palestinians massacred so far are children and other innocent civilians).
Hence, there is no escape reaching the conclusion that the genocidal aggression is an accurate expression and reflection of the Zionist-Jewish mindset, a nefarious mindset by every imagined standard, which is also unmatched in its evilness and barbarianism in the annals of human history.
For example, even the Nazis didn't pride themselves on murdering children, women and other civilians en mass.
But as we have seen, Israeli Jews, including so-called intellectuals, rabbis and university professors, not to mention ordinary Jews, are voicing their deep satisfaction at the extermination of Palestinian civilians rather brazenly.
Mordechai Kedar, a professor at Bar Illan University, last week issued a statement calling on Judeo-Nazi soldiers to rape Palestinian women in order to deter the Palestinian resistance against Israel's decades-old Nazi-like occupation.
The widely-circulated remarks of the two-legged animal didn't raise eyebrows throughout Israel, which suggests that much of the Israeli Jewish society is very much suffering from the same moral callousness the German society had experienced seven decades ago.
A prominent Israeli rabbi, Dov Lior with tens of thousands of followers, urged soldiers to "not to hesitate to shoot and kill enemy civilians, including children".
"There is no such a thing as enemy civilians in war," the cannibalistic rabbi said.
We are not talking about isolated incidents or unrepresentative voices in the Israeli Jewish society. Some Israeli thinkers argue convincingly that people like Kedar and Lior more or less do represent the mainstream in today's Israel.
The ongoing holocaust in Gaza carried out by the very people who have left no stone unturned in order to demonize Germans and generate sympathy for Zionism, is a definitive game-changer. From now-on the world must recognize that Zionist Jews are the Nazis of our time, period.
People around the world must challenge their respective governments and media and call the spade a spade. Surely, this is not going to be easy especially at the beginning.
After all, Zionist-Jewish circles long succeeded in colonizing the western mind through sustained mendacity and decades of brainwashing. They succeeded in changing the black into white and the big lie into a virtual "truth" glorified by millions.
Hence, westerners must start a process of liberating their mindset from the virulent Zionist stranglehold.
A final note to Muslims: Forget about "peace" with the Judeo Nazis. These murderers and child-killers are out there to murder our children and exterminate our people from the face of earth.
They are the antithesis of everything human and civilized. They are against life, against peace and against light. How can we wish for peace with a people who believe that non-Jews are animals in human shape whose lives have no sanctity? Can anyone make peace with a venomous cunning snake?

Dr. Mohammad Abu Arab has warned, in an exclusive interview with the PIC, that medical services in Gaza city are on the brink of collapse as the Israeli aggression against the Strip continues for the 20th day running, calling for immediate action to save Gaza health sector. Abu Arab, who resides in Norway, came to Gaza in the early days of the Israeli aggression as a volunteer at Shifa Hospital.
Dr. Abu Arab said the general health conditions in Gaza are catastrophic. “We are forced to use expired drugs due to acute lack of medicines while many other essential drugs are in dire shortage.”
He pointed out that Israel has committed war crimes during its ongoing aggression, explaining that it used internationally-banned weapons including DIME and White Phosphor. He held the international community responsible for its continued silence over these crimes.
Palestinian doctors in Europe have made contacts with European health institutions and international humanitarian organizations to brief them about the very difficult health situation in the besieged Strip.
“Israeli strikes are launched randomly with no military targets at all,” he told Gulf News. “The majority of them are innocent civilians. Many of them are children and women, which proves that the vengeful Israeli assaults target civilians”, the doctor said.
“We have come to this conclusion according to the statistics of the injured people and the nature of the injuries where victims, heads and chests are mainly targeted by the Israeli forces,” he said.
“The wholesale killing of Palestinian civilians clearly indicates that killers on the field had been ordered to kill as many of those civilians as they can in the shortest possible time. This inhuman trend of war must be halted with immediate effect.”
“Gaza health capabilities were far better in the previous two aggressions than the current catastrophic conditions of the ongoing assault,” he said. “The humanitarian conditions in Gaza imply an immediate lift of the blockade imposed on the coastal enclave as this blockade is in itself a crime against humanity.”
For its part, the World Health Organization (WHO) urged on Friday the creation of a humanitarian corridor in the besieged Gaza Strip to allow for the evacuation of the wounded.
"WHO is calling for the creation of a humanitarian corridor ... to reach various crossings and to help in the evacuation of the large number of injured people," said Paul Garwood, a spokesman for the UN health agency.
"There's a daily increase in casualty figures," he told reporters.
Garwood said WHO representatives had been in contact in recent days with Israel as well as Egypt to discuss the possibility of setting up a corridor.
He said that as of Thursday, the total number of people injured in Gaza since the start of the Israeli offensive on 8 July stood at 5,118, among them 1,561 children, 1,700 women and 203 elderly.
"The huge strains on the facilities inside Gaza, coupled with the challenges to get replenishment's to those facilities, and the increasing insecurity on a daily basis is increasing the number of people who are getting injured, and they need better medical care," he added.
