IOF opens fire at Palestinian citizens in Gaza
Picture
The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) opened fire Monday evening at Gazan citizens to the east of al-Maghazi refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.

Local sources said that no injuries were reported during the armed attack.

The attack fell in line with Israel’s violations of the ceasefire agreement that ended its 51-day aggression on Gaza in summer 2014.

Israeli occupation opens machinegun fire at Palestinian fishing boats
Picture
Israeli gunboats at dawn Monday opened heavy machinegun fire at Palestinian fishing boats sailing west of the Sudaniya shores, in northern Gaza Strip.

The attack cropped up hours after the Israeli navy gunboats on Sunday evening dragged a Palestinian fishing boat toward the western shores, resulting in material damage, the commission to document Israeli violations against Palestinian fishermen in the Union of Agricultural Work Committees, reported.

The Israeli occupation has reduced the fishing zone off Gaza to three nautical miles and attacked Palestinian fishermen on a quasi-daily basis, adding fuel to fire in a territory already beleaguered by a nine-year-old blockade, poverty, and unemployment. Video

Youssef Abu Sbeikha 48

A Palestinian civilian from the Maghazi refugee camp, in central Gaza Strip, died at dawn Monday of wounds inflicted by Israeli bullet fire on Friday.

A PIC journalist said 48-year-old Youssef Abu Sbeikha succumbed to the wounds he sustained a few days ago in clashes with the Israeli occupation army in eastern al-Bureij refugee camp, in central Gaza Strip.

The casualty was hit by the Israeli occupation troops with three shots in his chest, shoulder, and thigh, and underwent a surgery at the Shuhada al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah.

Abu Sbeikha was later transferred to the Shifa Medical Complex, where he breathed his last at dawn.

Abu Sbeikha was injured after the Israeli occupation army showered Gaza’s eastern outskirts with randomly-unleashed waves of bullet fire, killing 22-year-old Hani Rafiq Wahdan on the spot and wounding 28 more protesters.

Israeli troops attacked, using live gunfire, four different protests held in different parts of Gaza Friday, wounding six people near Khan Younis, wounding four people in al-Boreij, wounding one near Erez, and killing one young man in al-Shejaiya, east of Gaza City.

Hani Rafiq Wahdan, 22, was shot in the head near the al-Shejaiya neighborhood east of Gaza City, according to a spokesperson for the Gazan Ministry of Health, Ashraf al-Qidra. He died on the scene.

In al-Boreij refugee camp, in central Gaza, clashes broke out between Palestinian demonstrators and Israeli forces after the Israeli forces invaded the camp and began firing on demonstrators. Some of the demonstrators then responded by throwing stones, according to local sources.

Six others were shot in the al-Faraheen area east of Khan Younis, and one Palestinian was shot near the Erez crossing, according to the Palestinian Health Minister for the Gaza Strip.

The attacks on the demonstrations in Gaza occurred at the same time as similar assaults on non-violent demonstrations against the Israeli Annexation Wall and settlements in a number of West Bank villages.

These demonstrations take place weekly, after Friday prayers, and have been continuing for over ten years in many of the villages.

Organizers say that they are attempting to demonstrate their resilience in the face of the ongoing brutal military occupation by Israeli forces, and the continuous theft of Palestinian land by the Israeli government and paramilitary settler forces.

Local sources said that the IOF arrested the young man near the security fence to the east of al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza.

Meanwhile, Israeli troops fired flares as they were combing the eastern areas of central Gaza.

Local sources said that Israeli soldiers stationed at the Kissufim military post, south of Gaza, fired flares over the eastern parts of Deir al-Balah district and the refugee camps of al-Bureij and al-Maghazi, amid intensive drone overflights.

Israeli Planes Spray Crop-killing Pesticides on Gaza Farmland
Picture
Israeli planes reportedly sprayed agricultural crops along the Gaza border, on Wednesday, with pesticides that have been killing off crops for the third day in a row, the general manager of the plant protection department at the Gaza-based Ministry of Agriculture said.

Wael Thabet said, according to Ma'an, that “several farmers informed the ministry that Israeli planes sprayed their lands with pesticides around the al-Qarrara area, in eastern Khan Younis, and the Wadi al-Salqa area ofeast central Gaza, damaging a large number of crops.”

Saleh al-Najjar, a farmer from al-Qarrara, said he lost some 30 dunams (7.4 acres) of spinach and pea crops due to the spraying, which has taken place from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. over the past three days.

Another farmer, Wael al-Shami, said he lost crops of parsley and beans which were planted near al-Qarrara in eastern Khan Younis.

Thabet alleged that Israeli forces deliberately spray pesticides periodically on agricultural lands near the Gaza-Israeli border to destroy crops.

Thabet added that the Red Cross made a trip to observe the damaged lands and reportedly estimated that 1500 dunams (371 acres) of land in central Gaza and 200 dunams (50 acres) of land in eastern Khan Younis were damaged according to initial reports.

Thabet demanded that the Red Cross contact Israel and call for it to stop its violations against farmers in Gaza.

Israeli military bulldozers level land in central Gaza
Picture
Four Israeli military bulldozers levelled land in central Gaza Strip on Wednesday morning.

A field observer said that the bulldozers advanced into eastern Breij refugee camp and levelled lands on both sides of the border, adding that citizens’ farmlands in the area were destroyed in the process.

He added that three Israeli army tanks provided protection for the bulldozers during the incursion.

Israel’s repeated raids into Gaza’s border areas threaten the inhabitants and their cultivated land lots and constitute blatant violations of the calm agreement signed in summer 2014.

Eyewitnesses said that the three youths were wounded when IOF troops stationed at the eastern borders of Gaza Strip opened machinegun fire at the unarmed Palestinian demonstrators.

Security sources told the PIC that the casualties were transferred to a hospital in Deir Al-Balah.

The eastern outskirts of the Breij refugee camp has been witnessing intermittent clashes between stone-throwing Palestinian youths and heavily-armed IOF soldiers over the past few weeks. Dozens of young men were either wounded with live and rubber-coated bullets or suffered from effects of teargas inhalation.

IOF opens fire at Gazan farmers, carries out mock raids
Picture
The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) opened fire Sunday morning at Palestinian farmers in central Gaza Strip. No casualties were reported during the attack.

Eyewitnesses reported that the IOF soldiers stationed at the border areas near al-Maghazi refugee camp in Deir al-Balah city opened gunfire at a group of Palestinian farmers and houses in the area.

The attack was carried out at the same time as Israeli army vehicles patrolled the borderline and drones hovered over the territory.

The armed attack forced the farmers to leave their agricultural lands.

Meanwhile, Israeli warplanes carried out mock raids on the Gaza Strip, spreading fear of imminent air strikes among the residents.

Loud explosions were heard across the Gaza Strip after Israeli F-16 jet fighters launched mock raids over the enclave.

The attack is another episode in Israel’s violations of the Cairo-brokered ceasefire accord signed on August 26, 2014, in the wake of a large-scale military offensive on the coastal enclave.

Scores of Palestinians march in funeral of Mahmoud Agha
Picture
Mahmoud al-Agha

Hundreds of Palestinians on Saturday marched in the funeral procession of 20-year-old Mahmoud al-Agha, who was killed the day before during clashes with Israeli soldiers east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

His relatives and friends carried his casket through the streets of Khan Younis before burying him in the cemetery of Gaza City.

Deputy head of Hamas's political bureau Ismail Haneyya, who led the funeral prayer at Ahal Assunnah Mosque in Gaza, hailed in a speech before the mourners the bravery of Agha and the sacrifices of his family.

Haneyya said that Gaza does only participate in al-Quds intifada (uprising) with marches and events but also with blood.

The Hamas official called for actively supporting and taking part in the intifada in order to achieve the Palestinian people's aspiration for freedom and victory.

Mahmoud al-Agha was shot dead on Friday by Israeli soldiers during an angry protest against the occupation in a border area east of Khan Younis in Gaza.

Al-Qassam Brigades of Hamas mourned in a press release the death of Agha and affirmed he was one of its fighters.
