Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee Member, Hanan Ashrawi, strongly condemned Israel's shelling and killing of three Palestinian minors, east of Khan Younis in the southern besieged Gaza Strip, on Monday.
Ashrawi condemned the "deliberate" killing of Khalid Bassam Said, 13, Abdullah al-Hamid Abu Daher, 13, and Muhammad Ibrahim al-Satra, 13, during an Israeli airstrike near Gaza's border as an "ongoing war crime." She stressed "The Israeli occupation army has been deliberately targeting and killing Palestinian children. This is a clear war crime in violation of international law and international humanitarian law." |
She added "Israel's continuous campaign of excessive and indiscriminate violence against the people of Gaza has persisted with impunity and has been emboldened by the US administration's strategic alliance with Israel."
The minors were killed for allegedly attempting to place a suspicious object near the security border fence with Israel, according to the Israeli army.
Ashrawi noted that since March 30th, more than 205 Palestinians, including at least 37 children, have been killed in Gaza, and thousands more have been injured by Israeli forces.
Ashrawi also warned that as long as the international community "remains silent, the decades-long injustice suffered by the Palestinian people will continue unabated."
"We believe it is time for governments worldwide to guarantee protection for the people of Palestine and effective accountability for Israel which includes serious punitive measures and sanctions."
She appealed to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to "assume a principled and just stand and press ahead with an official speedy investigation into Israel's egregious violations and flagrant war crimes being committed against the Palestinians."

Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman criticized his fellow Security Cabinet ministers on Monday for backing efforts to reach an arrangement with Hamas instead of delivering a strong blow to the Gaza terror organization.
"Anyone who counts on an arrangement with Hamas is greatly mistaken," Lieberman said at a meeting of his Yisrael Beytenu faction. "My stance on the situation in the south is clear and well known, but unfortunately some members of Cabinet are deluded, and we already know from the past where such delusions lead."
Arguing Israel doesn't have to wait for the next flare-up on the Gaza border, the defense minister insisted that "There's no way to reach an arrangement with Hamas, and without delivering the hardest blow we can, we won't restore the quiet or the calm to the south."
"The majority of the Cabinet doesn't think as I do," he lamented. "I think that we should've already delivered such a blow several months ago."
Lieberman insisted the IDF has already presented the Security Cabinet with operative plans, quipping that anyone who claims otherwise, "I volunteer to buy him a pair of glasses and hearing aids."
"The Gaza border communities' residents are 100 percent right. This situation has been going on for seven months. We've exhausted all options. Nevertheless, some 40 rockets were launched at southern Israel over the past weekend, and this clearly cannot continue," Lieberman said in reference to the residents' protests that took place on Sunday over the rocket barrage fired at the Gaza border communities overnight Friday.
"My demand is clear—we cannot agree to the equation Hamas is attempting to create. They cannot continue receiving Qatari fuel and resort to violence at the same time, and this is why we have to use other measures.
"There is no need for a ground operation in Gaza, since we have enough means to restore calm without it. Even if we kill 40,000 Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists it is not worth losing one Israeli soldier," the defense minister stated.
Zionist Union Chairman Avi Gabbay said during his faction meeting that "The residents of the south have been living under constant rocket fire and Netanyahu remains silent. For the Gaza border communities' residents every weekend is a gamble—will riots erupt? Will rockets be fired or only 'several fires' will spark? Will houses be ruined or 'only a few people will suffer from anxiety'? Will Code Red alerts will sound or only black smoke will cover the skies?
"Hamas is playing the Russian roulette with the residents of the south, and Netanyahu says nothing," Gabbay concluded.

Muhammad Abed Abu Ubada, 27
A 27-year-old Palestinian was shot and killed by Israeli forces, while dozens of others suffered from tear-gas inhalation, on Monday, during the 14th naval march at the northern borders of the besieged Gaza Strip.
A Ma’an reporter confirmed that Muhammad Abed Abu Ubada, 27, was killed by Israeli forces during the 14th naval march, which set off from the Gaza seaport, in protest against the nearly 12-year Israeli siege.
According to local reports, Abu Ubada was transferred to the al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, where he was declared dead. video
During the naval march, Palestinian protesters ignited tires to blur the vision of Israeli snipers deployed at the northern Gaza border, while Israeli forces repeatedly fired live bullets, rubber-coated steel bullets, and tear-gas bombs towards the protesters. video video
As a result, dozens of protesters suffered from tear-gas inhalation.
Many attempts have been made throughout the years to draw the public's attention to and break the on-going siege of the Gaza Strip whether via ships attempting to sail into Gaza or ships attempting to sail from Gaza.

Israeli soldiers killed, Monday, one Palestinian and injured at least eighty others, including 15 who were shot with live fire, during a the 14th Naval Procession in Beit Lahia, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.
The Health Ministry said the soldiers killed Mohammad Abdul-Hai Abu Abada, 27, from the al-Shati’ refugee camp, in northern Gaza, after shooting him with live fire.
He was rushed to the Shifa Medical Center in Gaza City, where he was declared dead due to his severe wounds.
It is worth mentioning that Mohammad was injured three times since the Great Return March processions started on March 30th.
The Health Ministry added that the soldiers injured eighty Palestinians, including 15 with live fire, and added that seven medics were also wounded, some with live fire, while the rest suffered the effects of teargas inhalation.
Many Palestinian protesters burnt tires in an attempt to blur the vision of Israeli army sharpshooters, who were heavily deployed along the northern border of the besieged Gaza Strip.
The army fired dozens of live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets, and high-velocity gas bombs at the protesters, causing dozens to suffer the effects of teargas inhalation.
The Health Ministry denounced the ongoing and excessive use of force by the army, and condemned the targeting of civilians and medics, in addition to calling on the international community to act and end the Israeli violations, especially against medical teams and volunteers.
It is worth mentioning that fifteen boats participated in the naval procession, while dozens of Palestinians protested at the shore, before the army started firing dozens of live rounds, in addition to gas bombs and rubber-coated steel bullets.
The Higher National Committee for the Return Processions and Breaking the Siege, said that the Palestinians will not bargain on their legitimate national rights, and reject the so-called Deal of the Century.
It added that “the world needs to understand that the Palestinian people will never trade their legitimate right for scraps of humanitarian aid and partial solutions, but are struggling to legitimate rights, not only to end the deadly siege on Gaza, but also for independence and liberation to live in dignity and liberty.

Dr. al-Qedra called on the media, and the Palestinians on social media outlets, to wait until the three are officially identified and all notifications are made before publishing any information about them.
He added that after many ambulances, medics and medic volunteers arrived at the area to search for the remains of the slain Palestinians.
After locating them, the ambulances moved the mutilated remains to the Al-Aqsa Hospital, in Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza.
The Israeli army claimed that its soldiers “targeted Palestinians, who were attempting to place an explosive object near the border fence,” to targeted military vehicles driving there.

Israeli occupation forces, on Sunday morning, opened fire at Palestinian farmers in the northern Gaza strip.
Local PNN sources said that Israeli soldiers opened fire on farmers in the town of Beit Hanoun, injuring one of them
Ma’an sources confirmed that one farmer was injured by Israeli forces and transferred to the Beit Hanoun Hospital to receive necessary medical treatment.
The medical condition of the injured Palestinian remained unknown.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces also opened fire at farmers, east of the al-Maghazi refugee camp, in central Gaza.
The farmers were forced to leave their lands in fear for their lives.
No injuries were reported from the incident.
The Israeli army regularly detains and opens fire on unarmed Palestinian fishermen, shepherds and farmers along the border areas if they approach the unilaterally declared buffer zone.
As part of Israel’s blockade of the coastal enclave since 2007, the Israeli army, citing security concerns, requires Palestinian fishermen to work within a limited “designated fishing zone,” the exact limits of which are decided by the Israeli authorities and have historically fluctuated.

The Islamic Jihad on Saturday announced that a new ceasefire agreement has been reached in the Gaza Strip under the auspices of the Egyptian authorities.
The Islamic Jihad spokesman Daud Shehab said in a statement to the PIC that Egypt has intervened and talked to the movement's leadership. "We are committed to this agreement as long as the Israeli occupation is committed to it," he added.
Shehab said that the Islamic Jihad informed the Egyptian authorities that the rockets fired on Friday night toward Israeli settlements adjacent to the Gaza Strips were in response to the Israeli army's killing of peaceful protesters in the Great March of Return.

Israeli warplanes on Saturday morning launched new airstrikes on different targets in the Gaza Strip.
The PIC reporter said that Israeli F16 warplanes carried out several airstrikes on northern Gaza with no injuries reported. Earlier at daybreak, different resistance sites were bombed by Israeli missiles, while the Palestinian resistance groups responded by firing rockets toward Israeli settlements adjacent to the Gaza Strip. Israeli military correspondent Roni Daniel, with Channel Two News, said that the Israeli army is preparing for a large-scale offensive on Gaza – especially after it became convinced that the order to fire shells came from Damascus.
The spokesperson of the al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said, “The enemy [Israel] is lying — no missiles were fired from Gaza this evening. The Israeli Iron Dome system was alerted to live fired that was fired during Qassam training – not shells fired into Israel.”
Al Jazeera reported that the Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for firing the shells into Israel.

The Health Ministry in Gaza said doctors and hospital workers had to remove many patients from their rooms, and place them in hallways, in fear of further attacks. Israeli military correspondent Roni Daniel, with Channel Two News, said that the Israeli army is preparing for a large-scale offensive on Gaza – especially after it became convinced that the order to fire shells came from Damascus.
The spokesperson of the al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said, “The enemy [Israel] is lying — no missiles were fired from Gaza this evening. The Israeli Iron Dome system was alerted to live fired that was fired during Qassam training – not shells fired into Israel.”
Al Jazeera reported that the Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for firing the shells into Israel.

It said that the Palestinian, identified as Mojahed Ziad Zaki Aqel, 23, died from his serious wounds at the Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza.
He was shot, east of the al-Boreij refugee camp in central Gaza, during Friday’s Great Return March processions, in which the soldiers killed four Palestinians, and injured 232 others, including 180 who were shot with live fire.
The soldiers also shot eight paramedics while providing the needed medical aid to wounded Palestinians in protest areas, in addition to 51 children, eight women in the eastern parts of the coastal region.

14 Rockets were fired at Israel from Gaza on Friday night, eight of which were intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system, Israeli media sources claimed.
Rocket alert earlier sirens sounded several times in Israeli community of Sderot near the Gaza border, the sources added.
The sirens came hours after five Palestinians had been killed by Israeli military fire – four in the weekly protests on the Israel-Gaza border and one in clashes in the West Bank.
