Two missiles fired from Gaza hit Ashkelon and Sedrot, south of Israel (territories occupied in 1948), on Thursday evening, hours after US President Donald Trump declared recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
The Israeli army spokesman said two rockets unleashed from Gaza fell into Israeli settler communities near the borderland.
According to Hebrew news outlets, no injuries were reported in the rocket attack.
Sources from the Gaza enclave said missiles were fired at nearby Israeli settlements.
Tension has hit the climax in the occupied Palestinian territories after Trump declared, in a Wednesday speech from Washington, Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and vowed to move the U.S. embassy to the city, in a move that is believed to fuel conflict and increase violence in the entire region.

Israeli navy ships attacked, on Sunday evening, a Palestinian fishing boat in the Sudaniyya Sea, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip. The Navy fired many live rounds at the fishing boat, wounding one fisherman. They then seized the boat and detained five fishermen.
The attack took place in Palestinian territorial waters, less than 2.5 nautical miles from the shore.
Amjad Sharafi, secretary-general of the Gaza Fishermen Union, said in a statement that the Israeli navy illegally attacked a fishing boat owned by Khamis Abu Sadeq, and confiscated it.
The detained fishermen have been identified as Sami Nabil Abu Sadeq, Mohammad Ahmad Sadeq, Sayyed Nasser Halabi, Ayman Ahmad Tolba, and his brother Ehab.
The wounded fisherman, Mohammad Bakr, said the navy also fired many live rounds, destroying the motor and causing serious damage to the boat, in addition to wounding him in the abdomen.
He added that the navy ordered the fishermen to jump in the water, one by one.
“They ordered us to strip, and jump in the water,” Mohammad said, “I told them I had been injured, so one of them ordered me to raise my hands in the air while lying down, and he removed my clothes, then had us all jump in the water.”
All of them were abducted and interrogated, and were released later, but their damaged boat was confiscated and towed to Ashdod Port.
The boat’s owner said the navy had destroyed his only source of livelihood, and confiscated it.
“Even if they return the boat to me, its already been destroyed,” he added, “This boat provided livelihood to twelve Palestinians.”
Yamen al-Madhoun, of the Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights said that this year alone, the navy has killed one fisherman, abducted ten others, and wounded four, in addition to confiscating three boats.
It is worth mentioning that in the last ten years, the navy has killed five fishermen, wounded 107 others, and abducted 547 fishermen, and confiscated 181 boats.
Israeli navy arrests 5 fishermen off Gaza shore
Israeli occupation naval forces on Sunday evening arrested five Palestinian fishermen off the shores of northern Gaza sea.
According to local sources, Israeli naval forces also confiscated the fishing boat of the detained fishermen.
Palestinian fishermen in Gaza regularly face such attacks by Israeli occupation navy even within the designated fishing zone in blatant violation of the truce agreement which was signed by Palestinian factions and Israel and brokered by Egypt in 2014.

The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) said that the Palestinian resistance cannot remain silent on Israel’s repeated crimes against the Palestinian people and has a legitimate right to respond to its aggression.
“The Palestinian response to any aggression is a legitimate right guaranteed by international resolutions and such repeated crimes can no longer be tolerated,” senior DFLP official Talal Abu Darifa stated in press remarks to the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) on Thursday.
Abu Darifa called on the international community to curb the Israeli occupation and its aggressive practices against the Palestinian people.
He also warned that Thursday’s attacks on resistance posts in Gaza would torpedo the truce and escalate the situation, holding the international community responsible for any consequences resulting from its silence on Israel’s continual violation of the ceasefire in Gaza.
The DFLP affirmed there are contacts underway between the resistance factions to agree on a proper response to Israel’s persistence in violating the clam in Gaza.
Three Palestinian citizens were slightly wounded on Thursday in Israeli artillery and aerial attacks on different resistance sites in Gaza.

The army also fired two missiles into an area, west of Khan Younis city, causing serious damage, but did not lead to casualties.
The Israeli war jets can still be heard and seen flying over various areas on the Gaza Strip, and firing flares.
Furthermore, the Israeli army fired more than five artillery shells into Palestinian farmlands, north of Beit Hanoun, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli army claimed that fighters of the Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad, fired 10 to 12 mortar shells into an army base, close to the border with the Gaza Strip, and that the army “retaliated to the mortar fire.”
It added that its tanks and fighter jets also attacked what it described as “four Hamas lookout posts,” near Beit Hanoun.

Hundreds of impoverished orphans and their families rallied on Sunday outside the headquarters of the monetary authority in Gaza in protest at the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) insistence on not releasing remittances sent to them over years.
The protesters carried banners demanding the PA to shoulder its responsibilities towards their needs and lift a freeze on modest financial contributions transferred to them by philanthropists.
In this regard, Hazem al-Nakhala, head of a charity in Gaza, stated that tens of thousands of orphans and hundreds of poor families need these financial transfers, affirming that the poverty rate reached 70 percent in their rank.
Nakhala appealed to international organizations to pressure the PA and its monetary authority to immediately release all transfers sent to Gaza orphans.

The Israeli occupation army on Sunday embarked on a round of military maneuvers along Gaza borders.
The Israeli army spokesman said the drills, slated to be wrapped up on Thursday, come as part of the army’s annual plan and has nothing to do with the latest events.
Sounds of warplanes hovering over the territory have been detected by families living near the border fence.
On November 11, one-week drills were carried out by the Israeli army in anticipation of alleged attacks by the Islamic Jihad Movement in response to an earlier Israeli strike on a resistance site that took away the lives of 12 Palestinian fighters, mostly from Islamic Jihad's armed wing.
Another round of drills was carried out by the occupation forces in the Jordan Valley and the Golan Heights, in what observers dubbed a move heralding a projected Israeli escalation in the region.
Large-scale military maneuvers were also carried out earlier this month and lasted for two weeks under the “Blue Flag” tag. Hundreds of pilots and front-line fighters from the US, Greece, Poland, Germany, France, Italy, and India have taken hundreds of warplanes to Israel’s airspace in the multinational drills. The entire drill was based at the Ovda Air Base north of Israel’s Red Sea town of Eilat.
The Israeli army has claimed that the drills provide a sort of battle lab in which forces can hone a spectrum of skills needed to combat growing threats. The forces are put through increasingly difficult war scenarios each day to test particular skill sets.
