A statement released by the Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad, revealed that the bodied of five of its fighters have been recovered from the rubble of the tunnel, which was bombarded by the Israeli army last Monday, bringing the number of confirmed deaths to twelve.
The Brigades confirmed the bodied Badr Kamal Mosbeh, Ahmad Hasan Sabakhi, Shadi Sami al-Hemri, Mohammad Kheireddin al-Buheisi and ‘Ala Sami Abu Ghrab, have been located under the rubble.
It added that despite Israel’s usage of advanced warfare technology, especially the special equipment it uses to locate tunnels, the fighters managed to dig tunnels that extended hundreds of meters across the border fence.
Last Monday, the brigades declared the death of seven fighters; five of its members, and two from Al-Qassam, who were among many who rushed to their aid after Israel bombarded the tunnel.
It added that the two fighters were killed in a second explosion resulting from an Israeli missile, after they rushed to the aid of the five Qassam fighters.
The brigades identified the fighters as; the head of its Central Command, Arafat Mershed Abu Abdullah, his deputy Hasan Abu Hassanein, in addition to Ahmad Abu Armana, Omar al-Faleet and Husam Samiri.
The two fighters of Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, have been identified as Misbah Shbeir and Mohammad al-Agha.
The Palestinian Civil Defense said that many Palestinians are still missing under the rubble, and that the search has been impacted by many factors, including the toxic fumes, and Israel’s refusal to allow the Red Cross to search for their remains on the Israeli side of the border.
It added that Israel is trying to bargain with the Palestinians, by demanding to receive information about Israeli soldiers, who went missing during Israel’s war on Gaza, in the summer of 2014, in exchange for allowing the search.
It also stated the chances of finding any of the missing Palestinians alive are rapidly dropping while the Israeli military continues to refuse any type of search and rescue on its side of the border.
On its part, the Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel (ADALAH), and the Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights, in the Gaza Strip, have filed a petition with the Israeli Supreme Court, demanding the court order the Israeli military to allow Palestinian search and rescue teams from Gaza to enter the “buffer zone” – a “sterile” strip along the Palestinian side of the Israel-Gaza border that routinely comes under Israeli fire – to locate and rescue people trapped in a tunnel destroyed by the Israeli military.
The petition was filed on behalf of Gaza resident Hassan Abdel Jalil Sbahi, the father of one of the missing individuals, against Israel’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) Maj.-Gen. Yoav Mordechai and the Israeli military’s Southern Command chief Maj.-Gen. Eyal Zamir.

It is worth mentioning that seven fighters, five from Al-Quds Brigades, and two from Al-Qassam Brigades of Hamas, have been killed in the aftermath of the Israeli bombing, when they rushed to rescue the five Palestinians from the bombarded tunnel.

Two Palestinian youths were injured Friday afternoon in clashes with the Israeli occupation forces in various areas east of the Gaza Strip.
Health Ministry spokesman, Ashraf al-Qedra, said that a 17-year-old boy was shot in the foot with a live bullet to the east of al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.
He added that another citizen aged 26 was injured in the clashes that broke out in the eastern area of Jabalia town in the northern Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian Civil Defense Office in Gaza said on Thursday that it has been seeking the help of the International Red Cross Committee to continue the search for missing Palestinians following Monday’s air strike by the Israeli army.
A statement by the Civil Defense Office said the Red Cross has been holding contacts with Israel to enable its crews to reach the strike scene near the border fence separating Gaza and 1948 Occupied Palestine (Israel).
However, no reply was provided yet by the Israeli side over the appeal, the Red Cross told the Civil Defense in a phone call made on Wednesday evening.
Palestinian Civil Defense Spokesman, Mohamed al-Maydanah, also said on Wednesday that the civil defense crews have suspended the search for the five missing Palestinians due to the proximity of the tunnel to the border fence with Israel.

The Israeli military has posted a status on Facebook threatening the home and lives of a Palestinian family in the Gaza Strip.
Adalah – The Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel and Al Mezan Center for Human Rights (Gaza) have responded, calling on the Israeli military to immediately halt its threats against the family and other civilians in Gaza.
On 10 August 2017, Yoav Mordechai, commander of the Israeli military’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), announced on the unit’s Arabic Facebook page that the military had discovered two tunnels and related infrastructure constructed by Hamas under a mosque and apartment building in the village of Beit Lahiya.
Via Facebook, Mordechai informed Palestinian civilians living in and around the six-story apartment building and mosque in the northern Gaza town that their lives are threatened by a potential Israeli military attack on the area.

Army repeatedly threatens civilians
On 10 – 11 August, Israeli media outlets published aerial imagery of Hammad’s home supplied by the Israeli military and remarks made by Israel’s Southern Command chief Eyal Zamir reiterating the tunnels claim.
Zamir “warned” that, if necessary, the apartment building could be viewed as a legitimate target of attack and that civilians living there were endangering their own lives. Zamir did not, however, provide any evidence or indication of the existence of tunnels under the buildings.
There are no ventilation tunnels in the concerned apartment building and Hammad is unaware of any tunnels under his home.
Some two days after the COGAT post on Facebook, apartment owner Hammad also received a phone call from an individual who identified himself as a member of Israeli military intelligence. The individual informed Hammad that his life and his family’s lives were in danger as their home was marked as an Israeli military target.
Israel’s claims of tunnels do not justify threats to attack civilians and destroy their homes.
Adalah and Al Mezan: Stop threats
Adalah and Al Mezan sent a letter on 19 October 2017 to COGAT commander Mordechai and Chief Military Advocate General Sharon Afek demanding they immediately remove the social media posts threatening the Gaza family.
The two organizations also demand the Israeli military halt its threats to Hammad’s home and family and the civilian population in general as attacks on civilians – as well as the threat of attack – constitute overt violations of international law.
According to the Protocol Additional to the Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949, and relating to the Protection of Victims of International Armed Conflicts (Protocol I), 8 June 1977:
“The civilian population as such, as well as individual civilians, shall not be the object of attack. Acts or threats of violence the primary purpose of which is to spread terror among the civilian population are prohibited.”
The Israeli social media posts and phone calls cannot therefore be considered a legitimate warning prior to attack as the targets are inherently civilian – rather than military – in nature.
In her letter to the Israeli officials, Adalah Attorney Muna Haddad explained:
“One cannot consider these things as a method of warning prior to attack, as an attack of this sort by the Israeli military would mean a direct strike to a civilian population and civilian target, which is forbidden by laws governing warfare and which borders on war crimes.”
International humanitarian law rules that even the presence of a large number of combatants – themselves ostensibly a legal military target – is not sufficient to justify an attack which would cause disproportionate damage to nearby civilians.
Living in fear
Since the Israeli military issued its threats via Facebook and mainstream media outlets, Hammad and his family have been living in a state of constant fear with the knowledge that their home is liable to be destroyed in an Israeli attack at any given moment, potentially killing the entire family.
In response to the Israeli threats, some family members have fled their home but others are unable to afford alternate housing and continue living under Israel’s ongoing threat.

Palestinian medical sources have reported, Thursday, that another Palestinian was killed in the Israeli bombardment of the border tunnel, in Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, bringing the death toll to eight.
He was been identified as Hani Abu Reeda; his body was located under the rubble several hours after the bombardment.
Three Palestinians remain in very serious conditions, while rescue teams are still looking for Palestinians, believed to be buried under the rubble.
Medical sources in Gaza have confirmed that the number of Palestinians, who were killed in the Israeli bombardment of a border tunnel in Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, has arrived to seven, while at least eleven more were injured, including three who suffered life-threatening wounds.
The Israeli army fired at least five missiles into the tunnel, which was still under construction, close to Kissufim military base, across the border fence.
The sources added that the search and rescue operations were ongoing, trying to locate more Palestinians who could still be trapped under the rubble of the bombarded tunnel.
In an official statement, the Al-Quds Brigades said five of its fighters have been killed, and identified them as;

The Palestinian Health Ministry has reported that around eleven Palestinians have been injured, and that the number casualties could increase as the rescue efforts are still ongoing.
Several armed factions, including al-Qassam Brigades, and al-Quds brigades, issued statements condemning the latest violations, and the very serious military escalation, and added that Israel is trying to sabotage the Palestinian unity agreement.
Al-Qassam added that “the resistance against this occupation, by all available means, is a legitimate right.”
Another group, known as the Mujahidin Movement, said it reserves the right to retaliate, and will continue to fight against the Israeli occupation.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) also issued a statement vowing retaliation, and said that Israel is trying to drag the Palestinians into a new war, to stop the implementation of the Palestinian Unity Agreement.
Ahrar movement in Gaza, also vowed retaliation, as a legitimate right to resist the Israeli occupation, and held Israel responsible for any further escalation.
Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi, the Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Initiative, said the bombardment just exposes the true nature of the Israeli government, headed by Benjamin Netanyahu.
He called on all factions to unite, under one national and strategic leadership, to protect the Palestinian people, and to counter the ongoing and illegal Israeli occupation.

Palestinians killed, Ten Injured, After Israeli Force Bombarded A Tunnel In Southern Gaza
The Palestinian Health Ministry has confirmed that the Israeli missiles have killed six Palestinian fighters, in a border tunnel, east of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
They have been identified as Mohammad Marwan al-Agha, 22, Ahmad Khalil Abu Armana, 25, Omar Nassar al-Faleet, 27, Misbah Fayeq Shbeir, 30, Arafat Abu Marshoud, Hasan ِِِAbu Hassanein.
Abu Marshoud and Hassanein are senior leaders of Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad.
At least ten Palestinians have been injured in the attack.

Three Palestinians killed, Nine Injured, After Israeli Force Bombarded A Tunnel In Southern Gaza
Palestinian medical sources have reported, on Monday evening, that three Palestinians were killed, and at least nine others were injured, one seriously, after the Israeli Air Force fired five missiles at a border tunnel, east of Kissufim military base, across the border fence, east of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
The sources identified the Palestinians as Ahmad Khalil Abu Armana, 25, Omar Nassar al-Faleet, 27, and Misbah Fayeq Shbeir, 30. Their remains, along with nine wounded Palestinians, were transferred to Al-Aqsa hospital.
It is worth mentioning that the runnel was run by Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad.
The Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said Shbeir was one of its members, and that he was killed while participating in the rescue efforts of Al-Quds fighters, who were buried under the rubble.
The Israeli army said it carried out what it called “a scheduled detonation of a new tunnel, which was still under construction, near the border fence.”
The bombing was instantly followed by heavy deployment of armored vehicles and fighter jets, in the area, especially east of Khan Younis.
Israeli Ynet News quoted the army’s spokesperson Brig. Gen. Manelis stating that “the detonating was successful, and that the tunnel no longer constitutes a threat to the country.”
He added that the tunnel violated Israel’s sovereignty, and that the army has been monitoring it for a while.
Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and Defense Minister, Avigdor Lieberman, held Hamas fully responsible for the tunnel, and escalation, adding that the army’s advanced technology “gives it the best means to deal with the tunnels’ threat.”
The army also installed the Iron Dome missile interception system along the border, in anticipation of retaliation, and a possible serious escalation.
On its part, the Al-Quds Brigades said it will retaliate to this bombing “at the appropriate time and place.”
7 Palestinians killed in Israeli strike at tunnel in Gaza
At least 7 Palestinians were killed and 11 others were injured, some of whom critically, after the Israeli army blew up a resistance tunnel to the east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, according to the spokesman of Gaza's Ministry of Health, Ashraf al-Qedra.
The PIC reporter said that two members of the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas Movement, were killed while trying to rescue the Quds Brigades militants stuck in the bombed tunnel.
Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, announced that Arafat Abu Murshid, the Brigades' commander in central Gaza, was killed along with his associate and other militants.
Search operations for other casualties in the destroyed tunnel are ongoing and the number of martyrs is likely to increase.
Al-Quds Brigades announced a state of alert in the besieged Gaza Strip and affirmed that they are considering all options including the option of responding to this attack.
A wave of anger prevailed among the Palestinian citizens in Gaza who gathered in the hospitals in protest at the Israeli crime.
Earlier on Monday, the Israeli occupation army claimed responsibility for the strike that targeted the tunnel stretching between the Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis and the 1948 occupied Palestinian territories.
Spokesman for the Israeli army said that the Israeli southern command destroyed a Palestinian tunnel under construction using new technology after it was discovered near the border fence east of Kahn Younis.
In a later development, an Israeli military spokesman told Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper that Iron Dome missile defense systems were deployed in the areas bordering the Gaza Strip in anticipation of any response to the attack.
He was been identified as Hani Abu Reeda; his body was located under the rubble several hours after the bombardment.
Three Palestinians remain in very serious conditions, while rescue teams are still looking for Palestinians, believed to be buried under the rubble.
Medical sources in Gaza have confirmed that the number of Palestinians, who were killed in the Israeli bombardment of a border tunnel in Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, has arrived to seven, while at least eleven more were injured, including three who suffered life-threatening wounds.
The Israeli army fired at least five missiles into the tunnel, which was still under construction, close to Kissufim military base, across the border fence.
The sources added that the search and rescue operations were ongoing, trying to locate more Palestinians who could still be trapped under the rubble of the bombarded tunnel.
In an official statement, the Al-Quds Brigades said five of its fighters have been killed, and identified them as;
- Arafat Abu Mirshid, one of its senior leaders in the Central District.
- Hasan Abu Hassanein, Arafat’s deputy.
- Omar Nassar al-Faleet, Al-Quds Brigades fighter in the Central District.
- Ahmad Khalil Abu Armana, Al-Quds Brigades fighter in the Central District.
- Husam Abdullah Samiri, Al-Quds Brigades fighter in the Central District.
Two hours after Armana was killed, his wife gave birth of a baby boy, and named him after his father. She gave birth in the same hospital where her husband’s corpse was moved to.
Meanwhile, the Al-Qassam Brigades has confirmed the death of:
- Misbah Fayeq Shbeir, Al-Qassam Brigades.
- Mohammad Marwan al-Aqha, Al-Qassam Brigades.
Both were killed during the searched and rescue operations that following the Israeli bombardment.
The Palestinian Health Ministry has reported that around eleven Palestinians have been injured, and that the number casualties could increase as the rescue efforts are still ongoing.
Several armed factions, including al-Qassam Brigades, and al-Quds brigades, issued statements condemning the latest violations, and the very serious military escalation, and added that Israel is trying to sabotage the Palestinian unity agreement.
Al-Qassam added that “the resistance against this occupation, by all available means, is a legitimate right.”
Another group, known as the Mujahidin Movement, said it reserves the right to retaliate, and will continue to fight against the Israeli occupation.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) also issued a statement vowing retaliation, and said that Israel is trying to drag the Palestinians into a new war, to stop the implementation of the Palestinian Unity Agreement.
Ahrar movement in Gaza, also vowed retaliation, as a legitimate right to resist the Israeli occupation, and held Israel responsible for any further escalation.
Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi, the Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Initiative, said the bombardment just exposes the true nature of the Israeli government, headed by Benjamin Netanyahu.
He called on all factions to unite, under one national and strategic leadership, to protect the Palestinian people, and to counter the ongoing and illegal Israeli occupation.

Palestinians killed, Ten Injured, After Israeli Force Bombarded A Tunnel In Southern Gaza
The Palestinian Health Ministry has confirmed that the Israeli missiles have killed six Palestinian fighters, in a border tunnel, east of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
They have been identified as Mohammad Marwan al-Agha, 22, Ahmad Khalil Abu Armana, 25, Omar Nassar al-Faleet, 27, Misbah Fayeq Shbeir, 30, Arafat Abu Marshoud, Hasan ِِِAbu Hassanein.
Abu Marshoud and Hassanein are senior leaders of Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad.
At least ten Palestinians have been injured in the attack.

Three Palestinians killed, Nine Injured, After Israeli Force Bombarded A Tunnel In Southern Gaza
Palestinian medical sources have reported, on Monday evening, that three Palestinians were killed, and at least nine others were injured, one seriously, after the Israeli Air Force fired five missiles at a border tunnel, east of Kissufim military base, across the border fence, east of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
The sources identified the Palestinians as Ahmad Khalil Abu Armana, 25, Omar Nassar al-Faleet, 27, and Misbah Fayeq Shbeir, 30. Their remains, along with nine wounded Palestinians, were transferred to Al-Aqsa hospital.
It is worth mentioning that the runnel was run by Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad.
The Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said Shbeir was one of its members, and that he was killed while participating in the rescue efforts of Al-Quds fighters, who were buried under the rubble.
The Israeli army said it carried out what it called “a scheduled detonation of a new tunnel, which was still under construction, near the border fence.”
The bombing was instantly followed by heavy deployment of armored vehicles and fighter jets, in the area, especially east of Khan Younis.
Israeli Ynet News quoted the army’s spokesperson Brig. Gen. Manelis stating that “the detonating was successful, and that the tunnel no longer constitutes a threat to the country.”
He added that the tunnel violated Israel’s sovereignty, and that the army has been monitoring it for a while.
Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and Defense Minister, Avigdor Lieberman, held Hamas fully responsible for the tunnel, and escalation, adding that the army’s advanced technology “gives it the best means to deal with the tunnels’ threat.”
The army also installed the Iron Dome missile interception system along the border, in anticipation of retaliation, and a possible serious escalation.
On its part, the Al-Quds Brigades said it will retaliate to this bombing “at the appropriate time and place.”
7 Palestinians killed in Israeli strike at tunnel in Gaza
At least 7 Palestinians were killed and 11 others were injured, some of whom critically, after the Israeli army blew up a resistance tunnel to the east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, according to the spokesman of Gaza's Ministry of Health, Ashraf al-Qedra.
The PIC reporter said that two members of the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas Movement, were killed while trying to rescue the Quds Brigades militants stuck in the bombed tunnel.
Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, announced that Arafat Abu Murshid, the Brigades' commander in central Gaza, was killed along with his associate and other militants.
Search operations for other casualties in the destroyed tunnel are ongoing and the number of martyrs is likely to increase.
Al-Quds Brigades announced a state of alert in the besieged Gaza Strip and affirmed that they are considering all options including the option of responding to this attack.
A wave of anger prevailed among the Palestinian citizens in Gaza who gathered in the hospitals in protest at the Israeli crime.
