A Palestinian man who was shot dead by Israeli security agents outside Nablus on Monday did not attack them before they opened fire, his family maintains.
Hatem Shadid of the Illar village was driving when his car collided with an Israeli jeep near the Beit Lid village. One of the occupants of the car, a Shin Bet agent, later shot him.
Israeli officials said Shadid had attacked the agents with an axe but his family disputed the account saying he was going about his day normally when the incident occurred.
Relatives told Ma'an that Hatim left his home after dawn prayer to Nablus, then he traveled back to Tulkarem where he works at a construction company, before he was shot dead.
Israeli forces later broke into the victim's home in Illar and detained three of his brothers for interrogation. His wife was also questioned at home, Shadid's sister told Ma'an.
She added that 30 Israeli soldiers and an intelligence officer ransacked the house. The soldiers confiscated medical reports and other documents. She said Hatim suffered from back problems.
Relatives told Ma'an that reports the victim had attacked the agents were false.
"He crosses several military checkpoints every day, and the Israelis are only trying to give trivial pretexts to justify the killing," a cousin of the victim said.
The family called upon the Palestinian government and president to investigate the killing of Hatim "in cold blood" highlighting that he left behind five children aged 1-12 years.

They denied the Israeli version of the incident that claimed the Israeli soldiers fired at the driver when he tried to attack them with an ax.
The IOF troops sealed off the entire area and blocked arrival of Palestinian ambulance cars to evacuate the body of the deceased driver.

Israeli sources reported Monday that the Israeli government of Benjamin Netanyahu asked Jordan, twice in the last two months, to grant Tel Aviv a green light to strike what Israeli claims to be Syrian chemical weapons facilities.
The issue was revealed in a report by Jeffery Goldberg of The Atlantic, who also reported that Jordan has, so far, rejected any Israeli request to strike Syria.
Goldberg added that Israel has the option to go ahead and strike the Syrian facilities without Jordan’s approval, similar to what Israel did when it bombarded what is believed to be a nuclear plant in Deir Az-Zour, in Syria, but Tel Aviv is now concerned about the political aftermath of such a strike, and the repercussions that could take place in the region.
Goldberg reported that Jordan told Israel that “the current time not right for such an action”, Israeli Israel daily, Haaretz, said.
It is worth mentioning that the Atlantic reported that Israeli and American drones are conducting surveillance over the Jordanian border with Syria “to uncover and document Syrian chemical facilities not far from the border area”.
The Atlantic added that Netanyahu even sent representatives of the Israeli Intelligence Agency (Mossad) to Amman in an attempt to coordinate the strike with Jordan but the Jordanian leadership refused to grant Israel any green light.
Meanwhile, the United States reaffirmed its stance and position that was initially stated by President, Barack Obama, who said that using chemical weapons by the Assad regime in Syria is a “red line”.

The occupation authorities arrested at dawn today two citizens from al-Khalil and Bethlehem, and shot another in the town of Dura in al-Khalil in the southern West Bank.
Local sources said that the occupation soldiers arrested a young man from Bethlehem and another from the town of al-Dhahiriya south of al-Khalil, after raiding and searching their houses.
Another 22-year-old Palestinian youth was wounded on Saturday evening with Israeli bullets in the abdomen, during clashes that had erupted between the citizens and soldiers in the town of Dura, south of al-Khalil.
Meanwhile, confrontations took place between the residents of the village of Urif, south of the city of Nablus in the northern West Bank, and the occupation forces which stormed the village, on Saturday afternoon.
The villagers said that the occupation troops attacked the village after an incursion by a number of settlers from the "Yitzhar" settlement, established on the village's land.
The soldiers fired tear gas towards the protesters which resulted in the suffocation of a number of civilians.
This is not the first time in which the IOF storms Urif, as the village has been subjected, since several months to repeated break-ins by the settlers who have been attacking the people and destroying the agricultural crops.
The settlers had also tried to burn Al-Mourabitoun mosque in the village, two weeks ago, and had attacked the village school.
Meanwhile, Rateb al Jabour, the coordinator of the "Popular Committee Against the settlement" in the town of Yatta, told "Quds Press" agency that Israeli soldiers blocked the road preventing a group of Palestinian farmers from reaching their lands in the area "Qawawis" near the settlement of "Ovijal", built on the lands of the town of Yatta, south of the city of al-Khalil, and forced them to return to their homes.
The farmers were heading to their lands for plowing and planting them after the occupation Supreme Court issued a decision allowing them to enter the lands of which they had confirmed ownership.

Two Palestinians were injured by tear gas canisters fired by Israeli forces at a protest in the West Bank on Friday, the popular committee said.
The rally in Ramallah village Billin was stopped by Israeli forces with rubber bullets, tear gas and sound grenades, the committee said.
Ahmad Abu Rahma, 18, was struck by a tear gas canister in his hand and Issa Abu Rahma, 40, was wounded in the leg, they reported, noting that dozens of others suffered tear gas inhalation.
An Israeli army spokeswoman said she was not familiar with any injuries at the protest.
Billin holds weekly demonstrations against the Israeli separation wall and settlement encroachment. Friday's rally was dedicated to celebration of the UN vote for Palestine to be a non-member state, and called on Palestinian political factions to implement a reconciliation deal.
In al-Masara village, near Bethlehem, protesters held signs reading "Warning! This is illegally occupied land. State of Palestine."
Activist Hassan Barjeyeh said the protest also called on President Mahmoud Abbas to urgently implement the reconciliation deal.
Another participant, Muath al-Laham, said they wanted to thank all the UN members that voted for Palestine on Thursday night.

Gilad Sharon
Turkish lawyer Adam Yildirim has lodged a complaint with the Office of the Attorney General in Istanbul, against Gilad Sharon, the son of former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, accusing him of "committing a crime against humanity."
The Mavi Marmara Istanbul Palace of Justice lawyers involved in the case of Adam Yildirim said that Gilad's statement to the Israeli press has to be considered as "a war crime and a crime against humanity".
“We need to flatten entire neighborhoods in Gaza. Flatten all of Gaza. The Americans didn’t stop with Hiroshima – the Japanese weren’t surrendering fast enough, so they hit Nagasaki, too.” Gilad Sharon wrote in the Jerusalem Post.
The Turkish lawyer pointed out that the international community does not respond adequately to the Israeli oppressive practices, and turn a blind eye to the violation of international law by the Israeli entity.
I bear my responsibility for the sake of Palestine and of all humanity, the lawyer said, adding that he had made a criminal complaint in order to punish the Israeli officer "Gilad Sharon" for committing a crime against humanity.
Israel Threatens To “Reoccupy’ West Bank
Israeli member of Knesset, Vice Prime Minister and Minister for Regional Development and the development of the Negev and Galilee, Silvan Shalom, threatened that Israel would reoccupy the West Bank in response to the Palestinian bid at the United Nations General Assembly that won the Palestinians a nonmember observer state status.
During an interview with the Israeli Radio, Shalom, of the Likud Party of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accused the Palestinian Authority (P.A.) in the occupied West Bank, of violating the Oslo Agreement, and said that heading to the UN effectively “voided the peace deal, an issue that allows Israel to conduct unilateral moves”.
The Palestine News Network (PNN) has reported that Shalom threatened that Israel would enforce its military control on the entire West Bank, and would link the Ma'ale Adumim (the biggest settlement bloc in the West Bank) with occupied East Jerusalem by confiscating large areas of Palestinian lands.
Shalom claimed that the Palestinians did not agree to return to the negotiation table despite “the fact that Netanyahu agreed to the two-state solution and froze the construction and expansion of settlements”.
On her part, Tzipi Livni, former Israeli Foreign Minister and the leader of the newly formed party “The Movement”, stated that the Palestinian Authority could have been prevented from heading to the United Nations General Assembly, should the government of Benjamin Netanyahu have changed its policies and negotiated with the Palestinians.
Israel and the United States were angered by the Palestinian move, and the Palestinian victory at the United Nations General Assembly, after 138 voted Yes for Palestine, while only nine countries said No, and 41 countries abstained.
The Palestinian Authority of Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank said that it is not opposed to direct peace talks with Israel, but cannot resume the talks as along as Tel Aviv continues its violations, invasions, home demolitions, and its illegal settlement construction and expansion activities on Palestinian lands in the occupied West Bank, including in and around occupied East Jerusalem.
Israel never relinquished control of the West Bank, as the Palestinian Authority only “controls” main West Bank cities and some surrounding villages, but has not geographic contiguity, no control over borders or natural resources, and has no control on main areas of Palestinian lands in the West Bank.
The Israeli army also carries out repeated invasions and attacks, that also include the kidnapping of Palestinians, in areas that are under the “control of the P.A.”.
