Occupation threatens military operations in the Sinai
Israeli occupation threatened Egypt's ruling military council to launch operations in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula on the pretext of preventing attacks against Zionist targets.
According to "Haaretz", in its edition of Sunday (8/4) "Israel sent a resolute “and even threatening” message to the Egyptian Military Council regarding the council’s responsibility for attacks carried out from the Sinai Peninsula.
According to the newspaper; the warning message included hints that Israel might be forced into taking military action in the Sinai, if attacks against Israeli targets continue to be launched from the Sinai.
The reported message was sent days after the fall of a Grad rocket in the area of Eilat in southern 1948- occupied Palestine, last weekend and after Cairo's denial that the launched rockets was fired from the Sinai region.
Responsible Israeli political sources confirmed that the Zionist entity had allowed the deployment of Egyptian troops in the Sinai Peninsula, which the peace agreement between the two sides prevents, in the framework of what the sources called "prevention of terrorist attacks."
The Israeli radio quoted, on Saturday, the sources as saying that "Israel agreed to Cairo's request to deploy seven battalions of the Egyptian security forces in the Sinai," noting that "the ratification of the size of the forces deployed there is to be renewed every month."
It pointed out that "there is fruitful cooperation between Israel and Egypt in efforts to thwart terrorist attacks emanating from the Sinai Peninsula," according to the Zionist radio.
It is noteworthy that the head of the occupation's military intelligence Aviv Kochavi said that "During the past two months, more than ten terrorist infrastructures have been discovered in the Sinai peninsula, where planned attacks have been aborted," according to his claim.
Haneyya: Efforts underway to bridle Israeli escalation
Gaza premier Ismail Haneyya has said that his government was exerting big efforts to avert further escalation in the Israeli occupation forces’ aggression on the Gaza Strip.
Haneyya, who was attending a celebration to lay down foundation stone of a hospital for the elderly people in Gaza, also congratulated Sheikh Raed Salah, the leader of the Islamic movement in 1948 occupied Palestine, for the court ruling that rejected the British government’s deportation decision.
He said that the court verdict, which ruled against his deportation, constituted a victory over the Zionist lobby in Britain and over attempts to smear his reputation and curb his diplomatic moves.
Ahrar warns of Israeli intention to attack Gaza
The Palestinian Ahrar movement has warned that the Israeli occupation was preparing for launching a new war on the Gaza Strip.
It said in a statement on Sunday that Israeli war threats would not terrorize the Palestinian people who would defend themselves in face of any new Israeli military adventure.
Ahrar held the Israeli occupation authority fully responsible for the consequences of any military escalation against Gaza.
It said that the Palestinian factions were abiding by calm while the Israeli occupation forces were escalating militarily against the Strip after claiming that rockets were fired from the Strip at Israeli targets on Saturday night.

IOF quelling of peaceful marches wounds dozens
Dozens of Palestinians were wounded or suffered breathing difficulty in the Israeli occupation forces’ violent quelling of peaceful marches in a number of West Bank villages on Friday.
Three Palestinians were injured in Nabi Saleh village, near Ramallah, including a journalist while protesting the Israeli settlement activity and separation wall.
The popular committee in the village said in a statement that participants chanted slogans in support of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails who are on hunger strike protesting their administrative detention, without trial or charge.
They also carried Palestinian flags and when they arrived at the entrance to the village the IOF soldiers showered them with gas bombs and rubber-coated bullets in addition chemical waste material, the statement said.
It pointed out that journalist Mohammed Daghlas was hit with a teargas canister in his head and was carried to hospital, while another youth was hit with another canister in his chest, and a third young man was hit with a rubber bullet in his right hand. Many others were treated for breathing problems, it added.
IOF soldiers had stormed the village at dawn Friday and arrested a 16-year-old boy before announcing through loudspeakers in the village streets that the village and its environs were a closed military zone.
In Ma’sara, another village near Ramallah, IOF soldiers clashed with citizens and prevented their march to their land, locals said, adding that fistfights raged between the two parties.

Villagers confront IOF attempt to storm their village
Citizens in Beit Uwa village, west of Al-Khalil, resisted the Israeli occupation forces’ attempt to storm their village on Friday night, locals said.
They said that IOF soldiers boosted their presence at entrance to the village and tried to storm it but were confronted by villagers who threw stones and firebombs at them.
The sources said soldiers fired sound bombs and teargas at houses and vehicles passing in the village’s main road and blocked the road leading to the nearby village of Majd.

IDF sets up battalion to launch rockets into populated areas
Artillery troops practicing firing missiles in the desert.
Planned battalion, part of the Artillery Corps, will carry out missions that so far only the Israel Air Force could execute.
The Israel Defense Forces is setting up a battalion for launching rockets into populated areas. The battalion, part of the Artillery Corps, will carry out missions that so far only the Israel Air Force could execute, IDF sources told Haaretz.
Two weeks ago the ground forces approved in principle an Artillery Corps plan for setting up the IDF's first short-range rocket battalion next year. The battalion will first fire rockets with a range of 30 to 40 kilometers and will proceed to long-range rockets in the coming years, military sources said.
The plan is expected to alter the IDF's modus operandi. At present, striking a terror organization's headquarters, for example, requires the air force to drop a bomb weighing between hundreds of kilograms to a ton on it. The new rocket, designed to carry a 20-kilogram warhead, will be launched by artillery officers.
The rocket, made by Israel Military Industries, is estimated to cost between NIS 100,000 and NIS 200,000. With a precision of up to 10 meters of its target, it is seen as highly accurate.
However, when a rocket is fired into a built-up, densely populated area, a 10-meter deflection can wreak destruction and kill uninvolved people, the sources said. For this reason the IDF intends to evacuate a targeted building before launching the rocket, in a bid to minimize damage. Then it will reevaluate the target to ascertain whether it contains terrorists or serves as a terror headquarters before firing the rocket, the sources said.
"With this device, which is a sort of mini-bomb, we can control the extent of the damage," a senior artillery officer said.
"Today we are totally dependent on the air force, as we were in Operation Cast Lead [in Gaza, in December 2008] and the Second Lebanon War. We want the ground forces to be autonomous in exercising fire," he said.
Most Western armies today operate rockets to aid their ground forces. The IDF has refrained from doing so until now due to the rockets' imprecision, with the exception of the Artillery Corps' multiple launch rocket system, MLRS rockets - the corps' cluster bombs.
The rockets' advantage lies mainly in their range and relatively low cost.
At first the rockets will have a GPS-based guiding system.
Later on the Artillery Corps expects to use improved rockets that will be controlled without a GPS.
In the future the corps plans to use long-range and very-long-range rockets that can travel up to 160 kilometers and dozens of explosives. An artillery officer said the new rockets "will fly to almost any range the ground forces need - and beyond."
Air force officers voiced reservations in discussions about the long-range rockets, saying their use would overlap some of the air force's missions.
The Artillery Corps is planning to upgrade the accuracy of artillery shells in the near future. In the meantime, the IDF is expected to purchase precise artillery rockets in the coming years, an officer said.

Father of two martyrs survives Israeli shelling
A 67-year-old Palestinian man survived on Tuesday an Israeli shelling of his home to the east of Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip, human rights sources said.
They told the PIC reporter that Mohammed Sharab was in his home, which is only 350 meters away from the separation barrier, when the Israeli occupation forces opened machinegun fire from their tanks.
They said that many bullets penetrated the house’s windows and rooms, adding that Sharab knew that the Israelis wanted him to abandon his house but was adamant on staying in it.
Sharab was seriously wounded during the Israeli war on Gaza on 16/1/2009 and his two sons were killed in the same war. When he recovered he insisted on returning to his home.

Israeli planes dropped pamphlets in the southern Gaza Strip on Monday morning, warning Palestinians not to enter a no-go zone on its southern border.
The leaflet, signed by Israeli forces general command, included a map of the zone, a Ma'an correspondent said.
An Israeli army spokeswoman said the leaflets were dropped in several locations, and "reiterated to the citizens of the Gaza Strip to keep a 300-meter distance," from the border area.
Israeli soldiers "will operate in accordance with the rules of engagement, and will use live fire if they need when the security fence is approached," the leaflet warned, according to the spokeswoman.
It also warned against "cooperation with terror organizations, involvement in violent riots, and approaching the security fence," she said.
The Israeli army said soldiers shot dead a Palestinian they suspected of trying to plant explosives beneath a fence at the border with Gaza late on Saturday.
"It should be noted that during the past week, (Israeli) soldiers uncovered three explosive devices adjacent to the security fence in the Gaza Strip. All three devices were diffused in a controlled manner," an army statement said on Sunday.
None of the armed groups in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip claimed responsibility for the purported incident.
The killing of the unidentified Palestinian on Saturday came a day after troops at the border shot dead one person and injured over 30 others as Palestinians marked the annual Land Day anniversary.
Mahmoud Zakot, 20, was shot and killed near the Erez crossing, a medical official said. Thirty-one others were injured in that incident and in Khan Younis, six people were hospitalized.

The military official said 23 people were injured in the Erez area and six more in Khan Younis.
Hamas forces had set up checkpoints to prevent protesters reaching the border area, but many of the activists bypassed them, an activist who attended protests in Beit Hanoun said.
Ebaa Rezeq says she witnessed at least six of the injuries which came after Israeli forces fired on a crowd that arrived at the border area.
Rezeq says Israeli forces used live fire after they managed to remove a part of a metal fence near the wall.
“People are falling here like flies,” she wrote on Twitter. “Blood everywhere”.
A young Palestinian protester in Bethlehem, meanwhile, was seriously injured on Friday afternoon after being hit in the face by a tear-gas canister, a Ma’an correspondent said.

Israeli forces fired tear gas, stun grenades, sprayed foul-smelling water and used a “scream” acoustic device against stone-throwing Palestinians at Qalandia near Ramallah.
Red Crescent spokesman Muhammad Ayyad told Ma’an that medics treated 249 protesters at Qalandiya and 20 were transferred to hospital.
Israeli forces injured nine medics and damaged three ambulances at the protest, he added.
Over 15,000 people gathered in Kafrein in Jordan, around 10 kilometers from the border with the West Bank, Agence France-Presse reported.
Israeli forces were put on high alert on the frontiers with Lebanon and Syria, but there were no reports of anyone nearing the border fences.
Previous Land Day remembrances have mostly passed quietly, but Israel decided to reinforce its defenses this year following deadly clashes along the Lebanese and Syrian borders in May and June that appeared to catch the military off guard.
Protest organizers called for peaceful rallies Friday against “the policies and practices of the racist Zionist state” and said solidarity protests were planned in some 80 nations.
“When crowds from 80 countries move towards Jerusalem, they send a strong message to the Israeli occupation that no one can accept what they are doing in Jerusalem,” said Gaza premier Ismail Haniyeh.

Israel has launched an air and ground assault on the southern Gaza Strip, as it continues to step up its attacks on the besieged Palestinian territory, Press TV reports.
A Press TV correspondent said on Thursday that Israeli troops entered the eastern part of the town of Rafah with tanks and bulldozers. Israeli helicopters also opened fire on the same area.
Over the past few months, Tel Aviv has increased its attacks on the besieged coastal strip, killing tens of Palestinian people and injuring many more.
The Israeli military frequently attacks the Gaza Strip, saying the actions are being conducted for defensive purposes. However, disproportionate force is always used, in violation of international law, and civilians are often killed or injured.
Gaza has been blockaded since 2007, a situation which has caused a decline in the standards of living, and has triggered unprecedented levels of unemployment and unrelenting poverty.

Three brothers injured during Israeli raid on their house
The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) deliberately at dawn Tuesday opened fire at three Palestinian brothers during a violent raid on their house in Ramon village, Ramallah city, and wounded them, one of them seriously.
Local sources reported that a large number of Israeli troops stormed the village and broke into the house of Deeb Shukha to kidnap the three brothers.
They said that the family members were shocked to see Israeli soldiers rush into their bedrooms after smashing the main door of the house.
During the raid, the troops opened fire inside one of the rooms injuring three brothers from the family, Rashad, Anwar and Akram, and took them by a military ambulance to an unknown destination.
The Israeli troops prevented Palestinian paramedics from using their ambulance to transfer the injured to hospital.
On the same day at dawn, the IOF also kidnapped a Palestinian citizen called Bajes Amro from Al-Khalil a few hours after his release from a Palestinian authority prison in Al-Adahiriya.
The family of Amro said the PA preventive security agency released its son on Monday after he spent about one and a half year in their jail, noting that he had been kidnapped in 2010 by the PA a few days after his wedding.
Amro received one year ago a court decision ordering the PA preventive security to release him immediately, but this apparatus refused to comply with the decision as it did before with many Palestinian prisoners who had been released by courts.
Four others citizens were also taken prisoners during Israeli dawn raids on several homes in different West Bank areas.
In a separate incident, the PA security forces, as part of their cooperation with the Israeli occupation, kidnapped eight Palestinian citizens affiliated with Hamas Movement in the cities of Tulkarem, Nablus and Jenin.

But the “thieves” turned out to be Israeli soldiers working undercover, who were dressed to look like Palestinians and opened fire after one of the Palestinians attacked them with a knife, they said.
“The Israeli army shot at my husband and his brothers Akram and Anwar,” the wife of Rashad Deeb told AFP.
“I saw my husband was hurt but I don’t know if Akram and Anwar were hurt too. The army took the three of them,” she said.
The army confirmed the incident but did not say whether or not the soldiers were working undercover.
