Israeli forces open fire on Palestinians near Gaza borders, injuries reported
Picture
At least two Palestinians were shot and injured by Israeli forces for allegedly coming too close to the border fence between Gaza and Israel to the east of Khan Younis city, in the southern Gaza Strip, said sources.

Israeli forces stationed along Gaza borders to the east of Khan Younis reportedly opened fire on a group of Palestinians after they allegedly approached the Israeli-installed barbed-wire fence along Gaza borders with Israel, shooting and injuring two people.

The identities and medical conditions of the two injured Palestinians remain unknown until the moment.

Israel has imposed a buffer zone inside the Gaza Strip along their common borders preventing Palestinians from reaching their lands near the border fence.

It regularly opens fire at anyone who enters that buffer zone.

In a fact sheet about Israeli attacks on border areas and their consequences, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) said, “preventing Palestinians from accessing their lands and fishing areas violates numerous provisions of international human rights law, including the right to work, the right to an adequate standard of living, and the right to the highest attainable standard of health.’

Israel opposition’s Gantz vows to ‘pound’ Gaza as prime minister
Picture
Benny Gantz, the leader of Israel’s largest opposition party Blue and White (Kahol Lavan), vowed yesterday to “pound Gaza” if he becomes prime minister, reported Haaretz.

According to Gantz – who was commanding the Israeli military during two major offensives in the occupied Gaza Strip in 2012 and 2014 – added that in a future assault he would order a ground invasion of the blockaded enclave, and kill Hamas’ leadership.

Describing the comments as marking “a more hawkish line than that taken by his party during the last election campaign”, Haaretz said “sources in the party confirmed that it has decided to sharpen its rhetoric regarding defense in an effort to attract right-wing voters”.

The Blue and White (Kahol Lavan) leader made the remarks during a visit to the Gaza border area, accompanied by other senior members of the party, including co-leader Yair Lapid, Moshe Ya’alon, and Gabi Ashkenazi.

“We do not intend to let deterrence continue to be eroded; we do not intend to allow this model of another round and another round and another [incendiary] kite and another missiles and another thing to continue,” Gantz said.

“The next time something happens here, we will make sure that it’s the final round.”

According to Haaretz, Gantz said: “Another round of fighting would not end with just an agreement, but with an attempt to fully defeat Hamas militarily,” adding that “if another conflict erupts while he is prime minister, the military would move to kill all of Hamas’ leadership.”

Lapid stated: “Hamas must know that next time they shoot missiles at Israeli citizens, their leaders, under our watch, would not receive suitcases full of dollars – they’ll receive a guided missile in their homes.”
Israeli army bulldozers infiltrate Gaza border
Picture
Several Israeli bulldozers on Wednesday morning infiltrated into an eastern border area in central Gaza and embarked on leveling tracts of land.

According to local sources, eight armored bulldozers advanced from a military post behind the security fence in the east of al-Bureij refugee camp and started to excavate lands

Eyewitnesses reported seeing drones overflying the same border area to provide protection for the bulldozers, amid the presence of troops behind the security fence.

The eastern border areas of Gaza are repeatedly exposed to Israeli military incursions and gunfire attacks, which are seen as violations of recent ceasefire understandings between the Palestinian resistance and Israel.

Israeli navy attacks fishermen in Gaza shores
Picture
Israeli navy attacked today fishermen at the Gaza shores causing a child to lose conscious and damage to the boats, according on Zakaria Baker, a fisherman.

He told WAFA that the Israeli navy opened fire and water hoses at several boats that were fishing six nautical miles off the Sheikh Ajlin coast, west of Gaza City, causing  a child to lose conscious and fall into the sea before he was pulled out from the water.

He said the attack damaged the two boats and caused two generators to fall into the sea as a result of the pumping of water and waves caused by the navy with an apparent intention to flip over the boats.

Israeli army bulldozers enter Gaza, level lands
Picture
Israeli military bulldozers on Saturday morning infiltrated limitedly into an eastern border area in the besieged Gaza Strip.

A reporter for the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) said that several armored bulldozers moved from an Israeli military post to the east of al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza and embarked on leveling lands.

Every once in a while, the Israeli occupation army carries out such limited incursions into Gaza border areas in violation of the Egyptian-brokered ceasefire understandings with the Palestinian resistance.

On the 69th Great March of Return 66 Civilians Injured by Israeli Forces: 28 Children, 2 Journalists and 4 Women, Including a Paramedic
Picture
On the 69th Great March of Return, 66 Palestinian civilians were injured due to the Israeli military’s continued use of excessive force against peaceful protests along the Gaza Strip’s eastern border. At least 28 children, 4 women and a paramedic were among those injured this Friday, 02 August 2019. Twenty-seven civilians were shot with live bullets and 2 children were deemed in a critical medical condition.

While this week’s protests saw a decline in the number of civilian injuries, PCHR fieldworkers documented many cases of live bullets targeting civilians’ upper bodies. Despite the absence of a real threat to Israeli soldiers’ lives; the occupation forces continued the systematic use of excessive force against protestors.

For the first time since the Great March of Return started in March 2018, there were no injuries reported in eastern Gaza City. The deployment of Palestinian security forces in official apparel along “Jakar” street, who denied civilians from approaching the border fence, contributed to the decline in injuries.

Today’s protest, which lasted from 16:00 to 19:00, was titled “Solidarity with Crimes against Wadi al-Humus,” and involved activities such as speeches by political leaders and theatrical performances. Dozens of civilians protested at varied distances from the border fence across the Gaza Strip.

To this date, PCHR documented 208 killings by Israel since the outbreak of the protests on 30 March 2018, including 44 children, 2 women, 9 persons with disabilities, 4 paramedics, and 2 journalists. Additionally, 13,391 were wounded, including 2,775 children, 413 women, 222 paramedics and 209 journalists, noting that many had sustained multiple wounds on multiple occasions. Among those wounded, PCHR documented cases where 196 persons have become with disabilities, including 28 children and 5 women, and were as follows: 149 amputees; 21 paralyzed, 26 blind or deaf and 9 sexually disabled.

The following is a summary of today’s incidents along the Gaza Strip border:

Northern Gaza Strip

1500 protesters participated in Abu Safiyah area protests, northeast of Jabalia; only tens approached the border fence and threw stones. Israeli forces, stationed along the fence, fired live and rubber bullets as well as teargas canisters at the protesters. As a result, 20 of them were injured, including 10 children and 2 women: 11 were shot with live bullets; and 5, all children, with rubber bullets and tear gas canisters. Yasser Salah Mohammed al-Tanneh (16) sustained a bullet wound to his upper thighs severely damaging a main blood vessel. Also in norther Gaza, paramedic Wafaa Omar Khamis Jaber (24) was shot with a rubber bullet in her left ankle. At approximately 18:30, Israeli forces \ arrested a civilian who crossed the border fence; his identity has not been confirmed yet.

Gaza City

Protests set off Malakah area, east of al-Zaytoun neighborhood in eastern Gaza City. Speeches, theatrical performances and other segments were performed at the protest central encampment. Palestinian security forces spread along Jakar street and denied civilians access to the border fence; nonetheless, a handful managed to approach the fence at a 100 meters distance, threw stones at the border and Israeli soldiers responded with live ammunition. No injuries were reported for the first time since the outbreak of the protests.

Central Gaza Strip

Hundreds of civilians, including women, children and families, took part in the eastern Bureij refugee camp protests; tens approached the border fence at a range varying between 2 – 70 meters, and some of them attempted to throw stones at Israeli soldiers with slingshots. The Israeli soldiers, reinforced with 9 military SUVs, responded with live and rubber bullets in addition to teargas canisters at the protesters, wounding 16 civilians, including 4 children, a woman and a journalist: 8 were shot with live bullets and shrapnel, 5 were directly hit with teargas canisters and 3 were shot with rubber bullets. Most of the injuries were documented in the upper body. Israeli forces deployed a sewage water pump against the protestors. At approximately 17:50, while present 200 meters away from the fence, journalist Usama Sharif Mohammed al-Kahlout (35), from Deir al-Balah, received a call from a number starting with 04. As soon as he took the call, he was shot in his left leg and was transferred to the hospital for treatment.

Khan Younis

Protests took place in Khuza’a, where Ahmed al-Qarra and Hany Abu-Selmy, who were killed by Israeli forces this week were commemorated. Dozens approached the border fence and threw stones at it, Israeli soldiers shot back; as a result, 17 civilians were injured, including 10 children and a journalist: 4 were shot with live bullets and shrapnel and 4 were directly hit with a tear gas canister and 9 were shot with rubber bullets. The injured journalist is Hatem Saadi Saleh Omar (39), from Rafah, and he was wearing a flak jacket with “PRESS” clearly imprinted on it. Mr. Omar is a reporter for Xinhua News Agency and he sustained two rubber bullet wounds in his legs while videotaping the events at least 130 meters away from the fence. Former Shin Bet chief: Netanyahu’s annexation of Area C would lead to “bloodbath”
Picture
The former head of Israel’s Shin Bet security service, Yoram Cohen, warned of the annexation of so-called “Area C” in the West Bank to Israel,  would lead to “an unnecessary bloodbath”.

“Steps should be taken to reduce the occupation in the West Bank, improve transportation, improve work, and transfer areas from Area B to Area A, which is entirely under the control of the Palestinian Authority,” Cohen said.

Area B is under Palestinian civilian control and Israeli security control. Area C, which accounts for 60 percent of the West Bank, is under full Israeli control under the Oslo Accords.

Earlier this week, the Israeli cabinet approved a plan to build 6,000 housing units in Israeli settlements in area C and only 700 housing units for Palestinians.

Cohen referred to the armed clash at the security fence in the eastern Gaza Strip last night, during which Hamas fighter Hani Abu Salah was killed when two officers and two soldiers were moderately wounded. “The state is investing billions in manpower, technology and intelligence to prevent such events.

But in this case the work was done well. ”

He added that launching an Israeli attack against the Gaza Strip in the wake of such an operation could lead to another round in which hundreds of rockets were fired at the “Gaza envelope” (the region of Israel surrounding the Gaza strip). “Our deterrence may have been damaged by the fact that we did not want to degenerate into a major battle or a war,” he said.

Cohen added that, during the Gaza offensive in 2014, “we did not know the places of the tunnels on the Israeli side, and we were not able to correctly estimate the intentions of the other side for the war.”

Israeli Forces Kill Palestinian at Gaza Border

Hani Abu Salah

A young man from Gaza was shot dead before dawn on Thursday by Israeli troops after he allegedly crossed the border between Gaza and Israel. Israeli forces claim that the young man fired a gun at Israeli soldiers before they fired numerous live rounds, killing him.

The Palestinian was later identified as Hani Abu Salah. According to a statement issued by the Israeli army, the young man came across the border and clashed with the soldiers.

It is worth mentioning that Hani is the brother of Fadi Abu Salah, 20, who was killed by the Israeli army during on May 14, 2018. He was a wheelchair user who lost both of his legs during the Israeli war on Gaza in 2008.

According to the military, one officer sustained a moderate injury, and two other soldiers were slightly injured, and were transferred to the “Soroka” Hospital in Beer Sheva.

The Israeli army also announced that in the aftermath of this killing, they decided to begin firing tank shells toward the Palestinian city of Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, which led to exchanges of fire with Palestinian fighters in which no injuries were reported.

Eyewitnesses in Gaza reported that the Israeli occupation army fired two shells and light bombs at the border area east of Khuza’a town in Khan Younis after hearing the sound of gunfire. Others also spoke of Israeli planes flying in the area .

Since weekly protests began on the Gaza-Israel border in 2018, at least 297 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces — most of them unarmed civilians participating in non-violent protests at the border. Seven Israelis have been killed by Palestinians during that same time period.

The protests have called for an end to the 12-year long siege of the Gaza Strip, and a return of the Palestinian refugees to their homes in what is now Israel.

Israeli projectile causes damage to house in Gaza
Picture
An illumination projectile fired by the Israeli occupation army landed on Monday evening inside a house in the east of the Gaza Strip, causing widespread damage.

According to local sources, the Israeli occupation forces fired several illumination bombs to light up the sky over the eastern area of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, but one of the shells penetrated the rooftop of a house, causing material damage inside it.

Luckily, no one from the family in the house was hurt in the incident.

With no regard for the ceasefire agreement with the resistance in Gaza, the Israeli army persists in carrying out several daily violations along the Palestinian side of the border, mostly incursions, bulldozing activities and shooting attacks on citizens and property.
