Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) opened fire Thursday morning at Palestinian homes and agricultural lands east of Khan Younis southern Gaza Strip. Israeli soldiers stationed at the military watchtowers on the borders of the city opened heavy fire towards Palestinian homes and agricultural lands in Khuzaa town, media sources reported. No injuries were suffered.
Israeli attacks on Palestinian farmers and lands along the Strip’s borders have recently escalated in flagrant violation to the Palestinian–Israeli ceasefire agreement reached on August 26 under Egyptian mediation.

The Arab League reiterated its support to the upcoming Palestinian bid at the United Nations Security Council, demanding ending the Israeli occupation, and called on the United States to refrain from using its veto power to topple the move.
Head of the Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Committee at the Arab League Mohammad Sbeih stated, Wednesday, that Palestine would be heading to the Security Council with full Arab support, based on a previous resolution approved by the Arab League.
Sbeih added that the Palestinian bid is still being discussed and modified before it is presented in its final stage.
Commenting on the US criticism to the recent speech of President Abbas at the UN, Sbeih said the United States is criticizing, and allowing Israeli extremists to slam and attack Abbas, but is not suggesting any positive proposals or initiatives.
“We will see the US actions during the vote,” he said. “America has friends and interests in the Middle East; it should act as a fair mediator, with a clear policy."
He also stated that Arab countries are asking the United States not to use its veto power at the Security Council, especially since Washington has used its veto 43 times against resolutions that could have provided protection and liberation to the Palestinians.
Sbeih further stated that the United States should take a positive stance that every country in the region, including the Israel, would adhere to, a stance which respects International Laws, regulations, and all related resolutions.
“We will just have to wait and see," he added. “We will not declare positions and stances before the vote is concluded.”

An Israeli military officer recently stated that "the upcoming war on Gaza will be greater, and will down more victims," Israeli sources say.
According to the PNN, Eyal Eizenberg, Israeli Occupation Army Home Front Command, said during a lecture at the Institute for National Security Studies (Tel Aviv University), that "the recent assault on Gaza is not at all similar to the upcoming war that the Israeli army is preparing for."
He added that "the future war will require stronger abilities and more sacrifices to pay a bigger price."
Finally, he stated that "the main lesson we got from the Gaza assault was represented in the necessity of readiness of the home front, and the ability to provide services to the people in cases of emergency."
Al Ray reports that a recent Israeli public opinion poll showed that 74% of Israelis now prefer political settlement with Palestinians rather than a military one.
Over 2, 000 people were killed in the latest Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip, most of whom were civilians, and nearly 600 of them children. Some 11,000 were seriously inured, with many scarred and even maimed for life.

“Palestinians are not only fighting for Palestine but for the very ethics we would die for,” the Tunisian President Mohamed Moncef El-Marzouki said on Tuesday, vowing that Tunisia shall spare no single effort in serving the Palestinian cause in the very best way possible.
Addressing a large audience at the opening of the “International Conference on the Political and Legal Processes of the Palestinian Cause in Light of the Israeli Aggression” held under his partonage, El-Marzouki outlined three orientations to be inevitably adopted by Tunisia: the first is to react according to Palestinians’ options and decisions; second to back up the Palestinian national unity; and third to assist the people with all possible means.
“We opt for Palestinians’ decisions. We have, and will always, reject the deadlocked policies adopted by some Arab regimes, aiming at spearheading Palestinians,” the president declared. “No regime shall ever dare set itself as the guarding of this people. They are the only ones who decide how their fate should look like. We only go along their lines.”
“Tunisia is a peaceful country that does not seek to sow discord between peoples,” El-Marzouki further confirmed, noting that “Tunisia has always advocated inter-Palestinian reconciliation and unity of Palestinians.”
He called on the International Criminal Court to expedite the impeachment of the recent genocides committed by Israel against the unarmed Palestinian people.
El-Marzouki said he met PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas in New York a few days ago and was told that Palestine’s application for membership in the Rome Stature is coming out soon.
The president hailed Palestinians and expressed deep gratitude for the “stone-throwing children” who have taught Tunisians the true meaning of activism, resistance and pride in the face of the world’s powers of darkness.

Israeli occupation forces (IOF) at dawn Wednesday advanced into the southern areas of the Gaza Strip and bulldozed Palestinians’ cultivated lands. An on-the-spot observer working for Quds Press said a group of Israeli occupation bulldozers and armored jeeps flowed from the Kissufim military site, north of Khan Younis, and advanced some 300 meters into the southeastern part of the city.
The incursion was carried out under a heavy military shield provided by a drove of Israeli reconnaissance planes.
The invading bulldozers razed large tracts of Palestinians’ agricultural lands amid heavy firing of random barrages of gunshots, in a renewed flagrant violation of the Cairo-brokered truce accord signed with Hamas on August 26.
An atrocious Israeli offensive rocked the besieged Gaza Strip for 51 uninterrupted days, starting from July 7. Official statistics reported the murder of at least 2,158 Palestinians, mostly children and women, and the wounding of 11,000 others.
Meanwhile, head of the Israeli internal front, Eyal Eisenberg, warned in a lecture he delivered at the institute for national security studies at Tel Aviv University that Israel’s next offensive on Gaza is very likely to reap more casualties and shed more blood.
According to Eisenberg, the latest Gaza aggression cannot in any possible way be compared to the well-weaved war scenarios prepared by the Israeli army for future rounds.
“The next fight requires greater skills, greater sacrifices, and greater prices to be paid,” he pledged.

A trio of scrawny lions were dispatched to Jordan from Gaza on Tuesday afternoon through the Erez border crossing en route to a better life at a wild life sanctuary after their zoo was damaged by the recent Israeli offensive on the besieged Strip. The three lions' cages underwent security checks at the Erez border crossing by an authorized veterinarian, the Israeli news website Yediot Aharonot said Tuesday.
The complicated operation was conducted by the international organization "Four Paws" which rescues animals in third world countries. Earlier this month, the organization announced its intention to send representatives to the Strip to start the rehabilitation of the zoo and save the surviving animals.
In September, a delegation on behalf of "Four Paws" arrived at the Gaza Strip to supply medicine, nutrition and water to the animals, about 20 in total. The head of the delegation, Dr. Amir Khalil, said he was shocked by the zoo's poor state, the news website further revealed.
"Most of the cages were badly damaged and animal carcasses were scattered all over the place. Very few animals managed to survive, among them the two lions and a lioness that are currently in a state of trauma and fatigue," said Dr. Khalil in a statement quoted by the same source.
The zoo's chief veterinarian, Abu Sameer, said that the state of the zoo is dreadful. "During the Israeli military aggression, several monkeys, a lion, a fox and a peacock were killed and the surviving animals suffer severe trauma from the deafening explosions."
"We don't have the funds to buy food for the animals and as a result they haven't been fed for days and are very weak and suffer from malnutrition. Unfortunately, since most of the structures were destroyed, we can't even take the animals out of their cages to clean, so some of the animals died as result of filth-related diseases," said the vet.
Before the Israeli offensive, this was a very beautiful area; there were trees and lawns and an amusement park for children to play in. Now, the most important thing for us is to feed the animals and rebuild the zoo so it will be fit for animal habitation," said Farid al-Hissi, one of the Bisan Zoo employees

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon pressed Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu, during a meeting held at the UN headquarters in New York on Tuesday, to lift the Gaza siege as the only way out of the potential outburst of fighting in Gaza anew. According to a statement issued by the Secretary General’s Spokesperson, Moon received Netanyahu in a behind-closed-doors meeting, during which he stressed the need to “lift the enforced Gaza blockade and meet Israel’s legitimate security concerns.”
Moon voiced deep concern at continued Israeli settlement activity at the expense of Palestinians’ occupied territories and reiterated that a political horizon must be restored without further procrastination.
A return to the status quo is not an option, UN Secretary General further stated as he stressed the urgent need to address the underlying causes of the crisis.
He welcomed the tripartite agreement between the government of Israel, the Palestinian Authority and the United Nations on the secure entry of reconstruction materials into Gaza and hoped for its swift implementation.
UN Middle East Envoy, Robert Serry, announced in mid September that the PA, UN, and Israel had struck a deal on the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, enabling the PA to take a leading role in the reconstruction process and the UN to monitor the construction materials.
Israel has tightened military air and sea grips on Gaza ever since Hamas swept Palestinian legislative elections in January 2006 and won a landslide victory.
The siege had grown even tougher despite the fact that Hamas stepped down from Gaza government and made concessions to beef up the unity government formed in June.
The situation has remarkably gone downhill in the wake of the notorious 51-day Israeli offensive that rocked the blockaded enclave. At least 2159 Palestinians, mostly innocent children and women, were mass-murdered while 11,000 others sustained critical wounds in the process.

"Resuming the operations of Gaza power plant (GPP) is contingent on securing the necessary fuel," the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced Monday, in its weekly 'Protection of Civilians' report.
The report explains, according to Al Ray, that the GPP shut down on July 29th, after being hit several times by Israeli attacks, subsequently rendering the Gaza Strip to be exclusively dependent on electricity purchased from Egypt and Israel.
Also noted was the fact that, even if fuel is secured, it will be difficult to provide service to the areas most affected from the last Israeli aggression on the region, such as Beit Hanoun, Al-Shuja'eyyah, Khuza'a and eastern Rafah.
The facility is Gaza's only power plant and electricity outages now exceed 18 hours per-day, severely disrupting the provision of basic services including health and water throughout the region.
Prior to the assault, residents in the Gaza Strip were surviving on some 8 hours of electricity per day.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that the Palestinian Authority would go ahead with its plan to join the International Criminal Court, should the Palestinian UN Security Council bid for setting a time frame for ending the Israeli occupation fail, or be vetoed by the United States.
Abbas made his statement during a meeting with reporters and writers at his Ramallah office, in the central West Bank.
“We have already started the preparations for filing the application at the Security Council,” Abbas said. “We are seeking our right to an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, we want a clear timetable, a year, two or three, to end the occupation, but we want the period clearly defined.”
Abbas further said that the Palestinian Authority wants to resume direct peace talks with Tel Aviv, but this cannot happen before having a clear and internationally recognized agenda for setting the borders of the future state, and setting a clear time frame for peace talks.
He added that the P.A needs three weeks to present the proposal to the UN Security Council, and that the bid needs nine votes to pass, and affirmed that Palestinians realize the fact the United States will veto the resolution.
“Should the U.S. use its veto power, then we will file more applications to join international organizations and treaties,” Abbas added. “The first application will be to join the International Criminal Court.”
He also stated that a failure in the Security Council would lead the P.A to reexamine its relations with Tel Aviv, including the security coordination in the West Bank, adding that more Palestinian voices are demanding an end to this coordination.
“We will reconsider everything, in fact,” Abbas elaborated. “Thee are ties with Tel Aviv...”
However, the President said the P.A will not allow armed clashes with Israel, and stated “we will not allow the firing of even one bullet, we have a political front to battle; it is even more difficult and more important."
Abbas also said that the current relation with the White House is tense, and described the latest American statements regarding his speech at the UN last Friday as “funny."
“The situation is tense; it is not in our interest to cause more tension, “ he said. “But we also cannot back down now; we will head to the Security Council; the political confrontation will be fierce.”

The Hamas Movement strongly condemned on Monday evening Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu’s remarks in which he said that Hamas and the Islamic State group are two sides of the same coin. Hamas is a national liberation movement, its spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri stressed.
Responding to Netanyahu’s remarks about Hamas at the UN General Assembly, spokesman Abu Zuhri described Israel as the root of all evil and the world's greatest terrorist threat, affirming that Israel's terrorism is a coin with one side alone.
The spokesman categorically denied his Movement’s use of Palestinian civilians as human shields, saying that these Israeli allegations are intended to justify the killing of more than 500 Palestinian children during the recent Israeli aggression on Gaza.
He asserted that the picture presented by Netanyahu during his speech at the general assembly was fake and fabricated.
Israeli’s war crimes cannot be forgotten by a meaningless speech, Abu Zuhri said, pointing to Netanyahu’s rejection to allow an international committee to investigate Israel’s war crimes in Gaza.

Palestine Liberation Organisation executive committe member Hanan Ashrawi
Palestinian official compares Netanyahu to IS leader
Executive PLO member Dr. Hanan Ashrawi responded to Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu's recent UN address by saying that he blatantly manipulated the facts in comparing Hamas with the "Islamic State" terrorist group, according to Ma'an.
"Netanyahu's speech at the UN was a blatant manipulation of facts and attempted at misleading the audience through a combination of hate language, slander, and argument of obfuscation," Ashrawi said in a UN speech, on Monday.
"Obviously Netanyahu has lost touch with reality, particularly in refusing to acknowledge the fact of the occupation itself or the actions of the Israeli army of occupation in committing massacres and war crimes," she added.
Addressing the UN General Assembly earlier, Netanyahu denied mass allegations of Israeli war crimes committed during its July-August offensive on the Gaza Strip that saw the death of some 2,140 Palestinians, mostly civilians, and left the enclave in ruins.
Alternately, Ma'an News Agency further reports that chief PLO negotiator Saed Erekat likened Benjamin Netanyahu to the leader of the Islamic State group, after the Israeli prime minister compared Hamas to the organization.
"Netanyahu is trying to disseminate fear of the Islamic State led by Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, but Netanyahu forgets that he himself leads the Jewish state," said Erekat on Tuesday.
"He wants us to call Israel the Jewish state and supports terrorist settlers who kill, destroy and burn mosques and churches... like Baghdadi's men kill and terrorize," Erekat told AFP.
In his speech at the UN, "Netanyahu finally closed the door on progress towards a two-state solution within the 1967 borders and rejected any serious political solution" in the peace talks, Erekat further stated.
Talks between Israelis and Palestinians collapsed in April amid bitter recriminations on both sides.

The Popular Committee against the Siege confirmed that the per capita income in the Gaza Strip has dramatically decreased to one dollar a day following the Israeli recent aggression and as a result of the ongoing blockade. The committee confirmed that this rate has been the lowest since Israel imposed tight blockade on the Strip in 2007.
More than one and a half million citizens in Gaza depend on aid to survive, the committee added, pointing out that unemployment rates in the besieged Strip had surged 65 percent following the last Israeli war.
The committee stressed the importance of allowing construction materials into the Strip in order to accelerate the rebuilding of hundreds of homes, factories, and educational and medical institutions.
Egypt is expected to host a donor conference on the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip on October 12 in Cairo.

"The UNHRC has betrayed its noble mission to protect the innocent. The Human Rights Council has become the Terrorist Rights Council," he added.
Ma'an reports that Netanyahu also slammed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' speech before the Assembly, in which he accused Israeli forces of "genocide" during the recent 50-day offensive on Gaza.
Meanwhile, Gaza resistance killed a comparitive 73 people on the Israeli side, most of whom were soldiers.
"We did not deliberately target civilians in Gaza and we regret every civilian casualty," he said.
"Our soldiers uphold the highest moral values of any army in the world -- they should be admired not condemned."
-- Editor's note: Nearly 80% of all those killed in Gaza this summer -- some 2,137 according to Ministry of Health statistics -- were civilians. Nearly 600 of these victims were children, with many of the survivors now facing lifelong injuries and other health crises, including permanent disfigurement.
Approximately 11,000 people were injured, in all, many severely so.
The PM further accused Palestinian armed resistance in Gaza of using civilians as human shields, the Israeli army's near-daily narrative which echoed across mainstream media outlets during the assault.

Netanyahu also accused Palestinian political faction Hamas of being similar to the so-called "Islamic State" group which has seized territory in Iraq and Syria, even in light of recent alternative news footage which clearly shows Takfiri terrorists being hosted by Israeli forces in the Golan Heights.
"Hamas' immediate goal is to destroy Israel but has a wider goal the same as ISIS," he said.
Hamas officials, including senior leader Khaled Mashal, have repeatedly rejected the comparison, insisting that the armed struggle is against the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine.
Further note: Palestinians have no official military to speak of, outside of PA security teams which are heavily coordinated with Israeli security. Default Hamas rockets are not even equipped with guidance systems and basically consist of hollow tubes stuffed with dynamite, with the majority of reports on Hamas attacks describing projectiles which fall into unpopulated areas of the Negev.

A 14-year-old child was injured on Monday morning when Israeli forces opened fire at a populated border area in Gaza. Spokesman for the health ministry Ashraf Qudra told Quds Press that the Israeli military watchtowers to the north of Gaza borderline opened heavy gunfire at a Bedouin village near the security fence, leading to the injury of one child.
The child was rushed to Kamal Odwan hospital suffering a bullet injury in his left leg.
In a similar attack, a Palestinian farmer was injured Sunday evening by Israeli gunfire in Beit Lahiya town to the north of the Strip.

Tunisia is expected to host on Tuesday an international conference on the future of Palestinian cause in the aftermath of the last Israeli war on Gaza. The conference is organized by the center for strategic studies at the Union of the Arab Maghreb under the auspices of Tunisian president Moncef Marzouki.
Nearly 200 legal experts and political activists from Palestine and Arab and Western countries will participate in the conference.

The forum of Palestinian journalists (FPJ) on Sunday called for taking concrete steps to bring Israeli killers of journalists to international justice and to reform the Palestinian syndicate of journalists.
The forum said in a statement on Sunday the international day of solidarity with the Palestinian journalist, marked on Friday, “is a good opportunity to show solidarity and loyalty towards the Palestinian journalists, who have, once again, proved their worthiness and efficiency despite all the challenges and sacrifices.”
The forum hailed the journalists who were either killed or wounded during the last Israeli war on Gaza as heroes who sacrificed their lives and homes in order to expose Israel's crimes and defend the victims.
“We shall never have a moment of rest until we see all murderers being prosecuted before international courts of justice and paying the price for the crimes they had committed against our brave knights," the forum stated.
The forum demanded the Palestinian Authority, the unity government and civil society groups to start taking legal action to bring Israeli war criminals to international justice.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will reportedly wage a "political war" on Israel, if there is a negative response to Palestinian attempts to end the occupation via the UN, according to Fateh leader Nabil Shaath.
"This is the last chance for the world to accept the resolution that is currently being prepared for at the Security Council," Shaath told Ma'an News Agency.
President Abbas recently stated that he will submit a resolution to the UN Security Council with the aim of ending the Israeli occupation of the West Bank within three years.
And, if the US vetoes the resolution as expected, he will move in favor of "the war of international boycott of Israel" and hold it accountable at the International Criminal Court, Shaath said.
