At approximately 03:15, an Israeli tank positioned at the Palestinian-Egyptian border, south of Rafah, opened fired at Palestinian houses in al-Salam neighborhood adjacent to the border. Sami 'Ouda 'Abdul 'Aal, 25, and his bother Zakaria, 27, mounted the roof of the first floor of their three-story building, that is under construction, approximately 800m away from the border, to check what was going on. 'Abdul al-'Aal was killed by a live bullet in the heart.
At approximately 22:00, Israeli occupying forces in military locations in the vicinity of "Neve Dekalim" settlement, west of Khan Yunis, shelled Palestinian houses in al-Nimsawi neighborhood and Khan Yunis refugee camp. A number of artillery shells hit houses ad civilian facilities wounding six Palestinian civilians:
1. Khaled 'Ata Hasan al-Shurafa, 20, wounded by shrapnel in the chest;
2. Mohammed 'Ata Hassan al-Shurafa, 21, wounded by shrapnel in the right arm and foot;
3. Ra'fat Fayez Jaber Abu Hadayed, 17, wounded by shrapnel in the chest and the shoulder;
4. Mirvat Suleiman Abu Hadayed, 25, wounded by shrapnel in the right arm;
5. Ahmed Mohammed Abu Hadayed, 9, wounded by shrapnel in the left arm; and
6. Hassan Hassan Hussein Shamia, 64, sustained burns by from flare that hit his house.
In addition, a number of houses and civilian facilities, including some which are located more than 600m away from the aforementioned settlement, were damaged.
At approximately 08:00, a number of children in the central Gaza Strip gathered approximately 400m east of an Israeli military location at al-Shuhada' junction, south of Gaza City. They threw stones at Israeli soldiers, who responded by firing at the stone throwers, seriously wounding 18-year-old Mohammed Mosa'ed Abu 'Ajwa with a live bullet in the head. He was evacuated to hospital, but succumbed to his wounded two hours later.
Also at approximately 08:00, Israeli occupying forces in military locations in the vicinity of "Nissanit" settlement fired at a number of school children who gathered approximately 700m south of the aforementioned settlement and threw stones at Israeli soldiers. Ten children were wounded:
1. Tha'er 'Obeid, 14, wounded by two live bullets in the right hand and leg;
2. Jihad Joma'a 'Aabed, 15, wounded by a live bullet in the left thigh;

In addition, 21 children suffered from tear gas inhalation. Israeli soldiers also arrested and interrogated Nabil Samih Abu Dayeh, 31, a camera man of Palestine Television, for several hours. They destroyed his camera.

1. Khader Isma'il Kahder al-'Alami, 14, wounded by a live bullet in the abdomen; and
2. Haitham Fawzi Mahmoud Khalafallah, 16, wounded by a live bullet in the left thigh.

At approximately 01:00, Israeli occupying forces, reinforced with heavy military vehicles and supported by a combat helicopter, moved approximately 200m into Bisharat neighborhood in Deir al-Balah. They indiscriminately shelled Palestinian houses, wounding six civilians who were sleeping in their homes. Israeli soldiers raided and searched houses and arrested six Palestinians, who were taken to an Israeli military location east of al-Qarara, where they were interrogated for 12 hours and then released.
Upon their withdrawal from the area, at approximately 05:00, Israeli forces demolished fences of two houses owned by Ahmed Yousef Barghouth and Humeid al-Fallit. Those wounded were:
1. Adam Mohammed al-Buheisi, 26, wounded by a live bullet in the buttocks;
2. Nahidh Tawfiq Abu Yousef, 22, wounded by a live bullet in the abdomen;
3. Ra'ed Fathi 'Afana, 27, wounded by a live bullet in the right foot;
4. Hassan Salem al-Hassanat, 37, wounded by shrapnel in the back;
5. Bassam Ibrahim al-Masharfa, 26, wounded by shrapnel in the abdomen; and
6. 'Abdul Qader Hassan Abu Dan, wounded by shrapnel in the neck.
At approximately 13:40, Israeli occupying forces surrounded the house of Jamal Helmi Yaghmour, 49, in Farsh al-Hawa area in the northwest of Hebron. They called on residents of the house through loudspeakers to leave it, but the owner's son Mohammed, 20, attempted to escape. Immediately, Israeli soldiers shot him dead from a distance of less than 20m with several live bullets in the chest, the back, the abdomen and the legs. They did not resort to less lethal means. The man was a university student.
At approximately 14:00, Israeli occupying forces, reinforced with heavy military vehicles, moved into Jenin. They opened fired at passing Palestinian civilians, wounding 20-year-old Khalil Mahmoud Qassem Fureihat with a live bullet in the right leg.
At approximately 21:00, Israeli occupying forces moved into Jenin. They raided al-Zahraa' neighborhood. A number of Palestinian resistance men confronted the invading Israeli forces. Suleiman Ibrahim Dhib 'Aamer, 22, was seriously wounded by a live bullet that entered the abdomen and exited through the back.
At approximately 14:00, Israeli occupying forces in military locations in the vicinity of "Neve Dekalim" settlement, west of Khan Yunis, fired live ammunition and tear gas canisters at dozens of Palestinian children who threw stones at them after the funeral procession of 'Abdul Rahim Isma'il Hamdan who was killed earlier by Israeli forces.
As a result, Mohammed Fakhri Ahmed Abu Tiour, 12, was wounded by a live bullet in the back, and a number of children suffered from tear gas inhalation.

In the morning, in an apparent willful killing, an undercover unit of Israeli occupying forces shot dead a Palestinian civilian in Jenin, after moving into the town to arrest two allegedly wanted Palestinians. According to information available for PCHR, at approximately 02:45, two civilian cars that have Palestinian license plates moved into the center of Jenin. A number of gunmen in civilian uniform were traveling in the two cars. The gunmen were members of an Israeli undercover unit known as al-Musta'reboun (Arabanizers).
They raided a building belonging to the Catholic Church in the north of the town and arrested Khader Tawfiq Eghbaria, 48, and his son Majdi, 22. Upon their withdrawal, Israeli soldiers shot dead 51-year-old Mahmoud 'Aaref Hassis with a live bullet in the chest while he was looking through his window to check what was going on.
At approximately 06:30, after an armed clash between a Palestinian gunman and Israeli occupying forces positioned in military locations in the vicinity of "Elli Sinai" and "Nissanit" settlements, north of Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip, in which the gunman was killed, Israeli occupying forces, covered by intense shelling, moved approximately 1500m into Beit Lahia. Soon, they searched the adjacent Palestinian agricultural land.
They arrested six Palestinian farmers and moved them to Erez industrial zone north of Beit Hanoun. They interrogated them until 22:00 and then released them. Israeli forces also razed a 15-donum area of agricultural land planted with guavas, figs and pomegranates, destroyed an irrigation network and damaged a 5-donum area of agricultural land planted with vegetables owned by Ramadan, Mohammed, Ibrahim, Fatema and Rasmia Khader Ibrahim Salman.
At approximately 10:00, while 1-year-old Gharam Mohammed Ibrahim Mannaa', from al-Zhairia village, south of Hebron, was with her grandmother in Bab al-Zawia area in the center of the town, Israeli occupying forces raided the area in order to impose a curfew. They fired live ammunition and tear gas canisters at passing Palestinian civilians.
The infant inhaled large amounts of tear gas. She died on the way to hospital.
At approximately 11:00, Israeli occupying forces, reinforced with heavy military vehicles and covered by intense shelling, moved approximately 2 km into the east of Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip. They surrounded a 480-square-meter, two-story house owned by Nasser Ahmed 'Abdul Hadi al-Za'anin. They forced the family out and demolished the house over its contents.
They also demolished a 1000-square-meter bird farm and razed a 2-donum area of agricultural land planted by olives and figs adjacent to the house. According to al-Za'anin, he lost some money and gold. Israeli occupying forces also razed large areas of agricultural land.
At approximately 23:15, Israeli occupying forces in military locations in the vicinity of "Netser Hazani" settlement, northwest of Khan Yunis, opened fire at Palestinian houses in al-Satar al-Gharbi area in the north of the town. Ten minutes later, Israeli soldiers fired an artillery shell at an electricity tower adjacent to the house of Mohammed Salem Joma'a Abu Shabab, in which 12 persons live, approximately 200m southeast of the settlement. As the shell exploded the asbestos roof of the house was hit and destroyed.
A New Assassination Attempt
On Thursday, Israeli occupying forces carried out a failed assassination attempt that targeted Mohammed al-Dheif, 39, from Khan Yunis, whom Israeli occupying forces claim is the leader of the military wing of Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
According to PCHR's investigation and eyewitnesses' testimonies, at approximately 14:00, Mohammed al-Dheif left a consolation house of Bahaa' Abu Sultan in Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in Gaza City. He traveled in a green Mercedes with two of his guards. When the car arrived at the crowded crossroads of al-Jalaa' Street and al-Nasser Street, two Israeli combat helicopters fired two missiles at it. The car was destroyed and the two guards were killed:
1. 'Abdul Rahim Isma'il Hamdan, 40, from Khan Yunis; and
2. 'Eissa 'Ateya Salem Baraka, 35, from Khan Yunis.
Al-Dheif was wounded. He was able to get out of the car before the first missile was launched. In addition, another car that was traveling behind the targeted car was hit by shrapnel and its driver 'Alaa' Hassan Ibrahim Abu Ghalioun was wounded.
Forty passing civilians, including 10 school children, were wounded. A number of houses and civilian facilities were also damaged:
1. A 200-square-meter, three-story house, in which 20 persons live, owned by Mohammed 'Abdul Fattah Mahmoud Hammouda, who was also
wounded;
2. A 200-square-meter, three-story house, in which 30 persons live, owned by 'Adnan Hussein Ibrahim Madhi;
3. A 240-square-meter, three-story house, in which 28 persons live, owned by Maher 'Ali Ibrahim Hassouna;
4. A 120-square-meter, two-story house, in which 8 persons live, owned by Hassan Mohammed al-Farram; and
5. A pharmacy owned by Maher Jamil 'Abdul Rahim al-Sahhar.
Israeli security sources admitted that the operation aimed at assassinating Mohammed al-Dheif and that he was traveling in the targeted car and was wounded and lost one of his eyes. The same sources considered the survival of al-Dhief as "a bad luck" rather than a failure.
Al-Deif has previously been subjected to assassination attempts by Israeli occupying forces, the latest on 22 August 2001, when an Israeli combat helicopter attacked a car in which he was traveling with Yahia al-Ghoul, 40, wanted by Israeli forces, in al-Boreij in the central Gaza Strip. Al-Ghoul's son was killed.
This is not the first time that Israeli occupying forces had carried out assassination attempts in civilian populated area. Israeli F-16 fighter jets attacked a residential area in Gaza in July in an assassination attempt that targeted Sheikh Salah Shehada, whom Israeli occupying forces described as the leader of the military wing of Hamas. 12 civilians were confirmed killed.
The Israeli Chief of Staff Moshe Ya'alon admitted that he gave orders to carry out that assassination, although he knew that Shehada's wife and daughter were accompanying him.

4. A 120-square-meter, two-story house, in which 8 persons live, owned by Hassan Mohammed al-Farram; and
5. A pharmacy owned by Maher Jamil 'Abdul Rahim al-Sahhar.
Israeli security sources admitted that the operation aimed at assassinating Mohammed al-Dheif and that he was traveling in the targeted car and was wounded and lost one of his eyes. The same sources considered the survival of al-Dhief as "a bad luck" rather than a failure.
Al-Deif has previously been subjected to assassination attempts by Israeli occupying forces, the latest on 22 August 2001, when an Israeli combat helicopter attacked a car in which he was traveling with Yahia al-Ghoul, 40, wanted by Israeli forces, in al-Boreij in the central Gaza Strip. Al-Ghoul's son was killed.
This is not the first time that Israeli occupying forces had carried out assassination attempts in civilian populated area. Israeli F-16 fighter jets attacked a residential area in Gaza in July in an assassination attempt that targeted Sheikh Salah Shehada, whom Israeli occupying forces described as the leader of the military wing of Hamas. 12 civilians were confirmed killed.
The Israeli Chief of Staff Moshe Ya'alon admitted that he gave orders to carry out that assassination, although he knew that Shehada's wife and daughter were accompanying him.

At approximately 09:15, Israeli occupying forces started demolishing a number of buildings and razing areas of agricultural land in the south of Gaza City. Two Israeli armored military bulldozers, accompanied by a number of tanks, demolished three houses of the family of al-Weheidi. Residents of those houses left them about one year ago due to danger imposed on the area by Israeli occupying forces. They also razed areas of agricultural land and a well and demolished a grocery shop and a bookshop. This operation continued until the afternoon.
The family of al-Weheidi has also three inhabited houses in the area. Residents of those houses face difficulties in reaching their houses. They are also subjected to danger imposed by the nearby "Netzarim" settlement.
At approximately 05:00, Israeli occupying forces, reinforced with heavy military vehicles, surrounded a 200-square-meter, one-story house, in which two families comprised of 10 persons used to live, owned by Dhiab 'Abdul Rahim Shweikiin 'Eissi neighborhood in Hebron. They forced the family out and destroyed the house. Upon their withdrawal from the area, Israeli forces arrested Shwieki's brother Ussama, 24, and 'Emad, 20. Israeli occupying forces claim that Shwieki is a member of the Islamic Jihad. He was subjected to a failed assassination attempt carried out by Israeli occupying forces earlier this year.

At approximately 17:30, three Israeli military jeeps took position outside “Gani Tal” settlement, northwest of Khan Yunis. Soon, dozens of Palestinian children gathered in the adjacent al-Amal neighborhood and threw stones at Israeli soldiers. Immediately, Israeli soldiers fired at the stone throwers, wounding two:
1. ‘Abdul Rahman ‘Abdullah Mahmoud al-Faqa’awi, 16, wounded by a live bullet in the right foot; and
2. Ahmed Mahmoud Isma’il Sobeh, 17, wounded by a live bullet in the right foot.
At approximately 17:45, Israeli occupying forces, reinforced with heavy military vehicles, moved approximately 200m into al-Rabwat area in the northwest of Khan Yunis. Soon, Israeli soldiers searched greenhouses and a facility of Khan Yunis Municipality. They also arrested Moudsa Hammad al-Jallad, a handicapped farmer who works in one of the greenhouses. They took him to the nearby “Gani Tal” settlement. During this incursion, Israeli heavy military vehicles damaged a 2-donum area of agricultural land planted with vegetables and its irrigation network, owned by Ahmed Nabil al-Agha.
Late at night, 9 Palestinians, including a 14-year-old child, were killed and 20 civilians were wounded when Israeli occupying forces invaded the eastern residential areas in Gaza City. According to PCHR's investigation, at approximately 23:30 on Monday, 23 September 2002, more than 90 Israeli heavy military vehicles, covered by intense shelling and supported by combat helicopters, invaded al-Shojaeya neighborhood in the eastern part of Gaza City.
They moved into the neighborhood up to the main road, Salah al-Din Street, and the edge of al-Zaytoun neighborhood in the south of the city. Besides killing 9 Palestinians, 7 of whom were civilians, and wounding 20 civilians by indiscriminate shelling, the Israeli forces also destroyed a number of workshops and houses.
During the incursion an Israeli heavy military vehicle fired two artillery shells at a 200-square-meter, two-story uninhabited house in al-Shojaeya neighborhood owned by Fathi Rabah Sa'id Farahat, father of Mohammed Faraht, who carried out an armed attack against "Etsmona" settlement in the southern Gaza Strip on 7 March 2002. Farahat and a number of settlers were killed in the attack. The house was partially destroyed. In a previous retaliatory operation following the armed attack carried out by Farahat, Israeli occupying forces invaded Khuza'a village, east of Khan Yunis, on 8 March 2002, killing 16 Palestinians, mostly civilians, and wounding dozens.
During this latest invasion, Israeli occupying forces destroyed a number of workshops, including a workshop for agricultural tools maintenance owned by Ahmed Hassan Maqat. An adjacent workshop was severely damaged. PCHR's field officers also reports that dozens of houses were severely damaged. Israeli heavy military vehicles destroyed walls of a number of houses while moving into narrow alleys in al-Shojaeya neighborhood. Electricity, water, telephone and sewage networks in the neighborhood were also destroyed.

During the clashes that continued until 16:30, three Palestinian children were wounded:
1. Tha'er Mohammed Mansour, 14, wounded by a live bullet in the left thigh;
2. Mohammed 'Eissa Nassar, 15, wounded by a rubber-coated metal bullet in the head; and
3. Ahmed Isma'il al-Kuurd, 16, wounded by a rubber-coated metal bullet in the forehead.
A Newly Born Infant Dies Due to Obstruction of Her Evacuation to Hospital by Israeli Occupying Force
On Monday morning, 23 September 2002, medical sources at al-Muhtasseb Hospital in Hebron declared that Rawan Murad 'Eissa Hureizat from Yatta village south of Hebron, who was born three days earlier, died after Israeli occupying forces obstructed her evacuation to hospital.
According to information available for PCHR, on Sunday evening, 22 September 2002, the aforementioned infant was sick. Her family took her to a physician at Zhaher Hospital in Yatta village. After the medical check, the physician decided to transfer her to al-Muhtasseb Hospital in Hebron. On the following day morning, the family began traveling to the hospital. When they arrived at the entrance of the village, they were not able to cross Israeli military checkpoints, and had to resort to alternative roads, which took them much longer time. When they arrived in Hebron, Israeli occupying forces in Abu Sneineh neighborhood denied them passage. Again they resorted to alternative roads and were eventually able to reach hospital, but during this long journey, the infant died. According to medical sources at al-Muhtasseb Hospital, the infant was brought dead to hospital at approximately 08:30 on Monday, 23 September 2002, and the obstruction of her access to hospital prevented saving her life.

A Newly Born Infant Dies Due to Obstruction of Her Evacuation to Hospital by Israeli Occupying Force
On Monday morning, 23 September 2002, medical sources at al-Muhtasseb Hospital in Hebron declared that Rawan Murad 'Eissa Hureizat from Yatta village south of Hebron, who was born three days earlier, died after Israeli occupying forces obstructed her evacuation to hospital.
According to information available for PCHR, on Sunday evening, 22 September 2002, the aforementioned infant was sick. Her family took her to a physician at Zhaher Hospital in Yatta village. After the medical check, the physician decided to transfer her to al-Muhtasseb Hospital in Hebron. On the following day morning, the family began traveling to the hospital. When they arrived at the entrance of the village, they were not able to cross Israeli military checkpoints, and had to resort to alternative roads, which took them much longer time. When they arrived in Hebron, Israeli occupying forces in Abu Sneineh neighborhood denied them passage. Again they resorted to alternative roads and were eventually able to reach hospital, but during this long journey, the infant died. According to medical sources at al-Muhtasseb Hospital, the infant was brought dead to hospital at approximately 08:30 on Monday, 23 September 2002, and the obstruction of her access to hospital prevented saving her life.

Early in the morning, Israeli occupying soldiers on tanks that were patrolling in the streets of Palestinian towns, over which they had already seized complete control, opened fire at Palestinian civilians who marched in the streets expressing solidarity with the Palestinian President Yasser Arafat who had been under Israeli military siege in his compound in Ramallah since Thursday, 19 September 2002.
At approximately 01:00, dozens of thousands of Palestinian civilians went out of their houses throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and walked in peaceful marches expressing their solidarity with President Arafat. Immediately, Israeli occupying forces opened fire at them, without resorting to less lethal means to disperse them. Four Palestinian civilians, including a journalist, were killed by the Israeli gunfire.
According to information available for PCHR, hundreds of Palestinian civilians went out of their houses in Ramallah and al-Bireh. They marched towards al-Manara square in the center of Ramallah. Immediately, Israeli occupying forces opened fire at them. A Palestinian civilian and a journalist of Sawt Falastin (Voice of Palestine) radio station, were killed and 16 others were wounded by live ammunition and rubber-coated metal bullets. Those killed were:
1. ‘Eissa ‘Abdul Hafez Isma’il Hureish, 28, from Bitounia, shot by a live bullet in the chest; and
2. ‘Essam Mithqal Hamza al-Talawi, 30, from Bitounia, a journalist of Voice of Palestine, shot by a live bullet in the head.
With al-Talawi’s death, the number of journalists killed by Israeli occupying forces since the beginning of the Intifada mounted to six, five Palestinian journalists and one Italian.
In Nablus and its refugee camps, hundreds of Palestinian civilians left their houses and walked in peaceful marches. Immediately, Israeli occupying forces opened fire at them, seriously wounding 19-year-old Riad Maher ‘Ayad al-Hashash, from Balata refugee camp, with a live bullet in the head.
Al-Hashash bled to death as Israeli forces denied access of ambulances to the camp to evacuate him to hospital. In addition, Mahmoud Miqdad Mohammed al-Khatib, 17, also from Balata refugee camp, was seriously wounded by two live bullets in the neck and the shoulder. An ambulance of Palestine Red Crescent Society was able to evacuate him, but Israeli forces stopped the ambulance and arrested him. He was taken bleeding to an unknown destination.
In Tulkarm, Israeli occupying forces opened fire at Palestinian demonstrators who gathered in Jaffa Street in the center of the town. Ahmed Mahmoud Mohammed Radwan, 18, was seriously wounded by a live bullet in the head, which caused a fracture in the skull. He was evacuated to hospital where he was pronounced clinically dead. Few hours later, he was pronounced dead.
At approximately 03:00, Israeli occupying forces moved into Jenin. They raided the house of Rebhi Mohammed Mahmoud Abu Moweis, 48, a trader, in the center of the town. They searched the house and a shop owned by Abu Moweis. Then, they took him to al-Bassatin neighborhood, where he has a 360-square-meter, two-story house still under construction. The first floor served as a commercial store of agricultural fertilizers and animal feeds. They searched the house and the store, and forced Abu Moweis to give them his keys. Then, they ordered him to go back home. At approximately 06:00, Israeli soldiers planted bombs in the building and destroyed it completely.
At approximately 06:00, Israeli occupying forces, reinforced with heavy military vehicles, moved approximately 300m into Palestinian areas north of “Kfar Darom” settlement, east of Deir al-Balah. They razed areas of Palestinian agricultural land.
At approximately 09:00, Palestinian civilians and school children demonstrated in Dura village, west of Hebron. Israeli occupying soldiers on tanks and armored personnel carriers fired at the demonstrators, wounding 13-year-old Ahmed Yasser al-Sharha with a rubber-coated metal bullet. In addition, a number of demonstrators suffered from tear gas inhalation used against them by Israeli forces.
At approximately 10:00, Palestinian civilians in Nablus broke the curfew imposed on the city to organize a peaceful march in solidarity with President Arafat. As soon as they began to gather in Ras al-‘Ein neighborhood, Israeli occupying forces raided the area and opened fire at those civilians. Bahaa’ Sa’di al-Bahash, 13, was seriously wounded by a live bullet in the chest. He succumbed to his wound upon arrival at hospital.

At approximately 06:00, Israeli occupying forces moved into al-Fara’a refugee camp, east of Jenin. They erected a military roadblock at its entrance. Israeli soldiers stopped a civilian car and arrested two Palestinian men.
At approximately 11:00, an undercover unit of Israeli occupying forces stole into Qabatya village, southeast of Jenin. They raided an animal feed shop in the western part of the village, owned by Faisal Ibrahim ‘Abdul Rahman Saba’na, 39, and arrested him. Soon, three armored personnel carriers and a military jeep arrived at the area, and Saba’na was taken on an armored personnel carrier to an unknown destination.
At approximately 11:15, Israeli tanks positioned at the Palestinian-Egyptian border, south of Rafah, opened fire at Palestinian houses in the vicinity of Salah al-Din Gate, adjacent to the border. Tariq Ahmed al-Sharqawi, 12, was wounded by shrapnel in the left arm.
At approximately 17:00, Israeli tanks positioned west of Rafah opened fire at Palestinian houses in Tal al-Sultan neighborhood in the southwest of the town. Ibrahim Khalil Mousa, 20, was wounded by a live bullet in the left thigh.
Three hours later, Israeli tanks positioned at the Palestinian-Egyptian border, south of Rafah, opened fire at Palestinian houses in Block J in Rafah refugee camp. Two Palestinian children were wounded:
1. Dana Ibrahim Timraz, 5, wounded by shrapnel in the right carpus; and
2. Zuhair Jamal al-Moghayar, 16, wounded by shrapnel in the head.
At approximately 21:00, Israeli occupying forces in military locations in the vicinity of “Gani Tal” settlement, northwest of Khan Yunis, opened fire for no apparent reason at Palestinian residential areas and agricultural land in al-Amal neighborhood and al-Rabwat area in the northwest of the town. A number of houses were damaged.
At approximately 01:00, Israeli occupying forces, reinforced with heavy military vehicles, moved into Qalqilya. They surrounded the house of the family of Anas Banan Abu ‘Olba and demolished it. Then, they demolished the house of the family of Nasser ‘Abdul Fattah Nazzal. Two adjacent flats owned by the family and a carpentry workshop were also severely damaged.

They surrounded the house of Hamza Mohammed Khalil Abu al-Rub, 35, and forced his wife and seven children out. Then, they demolished the 100-square-meter house. 1. Fatema Dhib Shaqfa, 60, seriously wounded by two live bullets in the abdomen and the left thigh;
2. Naji Shehada Abu Lebda, 32, wounded by a live bullet in the right arm;
3. Yousef Hamed Bahloul, 65, wounded by shrapnel in the right knee. He was also wounded on the previous day while he was in his fuel station in the area.
Half an hour later, four Israeli combat helicopters indiscriminately shelled Block K and J in Rafah refugee camp, adjacent to the Palestinian-Egyptian border, while Israeli heavy military vehicles at the border were also intensely shelling the area. The shelling continued sporadically for eight hours, during which two Palestinian children were killed:
1. 'Abdullah Suleiman al-Gharabli, 14, shot by a live bullet in the head; and
2. Haitham Sa'id Nattat, 17, hit by an artillery shell that cut his head.
In addition, 11 Palestinian civilians, including 7 children, were wounded:
1. Mohammed Marwan al-Rikhawi, 15, wounded by a live bullet in the buttocks;
2. 'Abdul Hadi Nayef al-Haj, 13, seriously wounded by a live bullet in the left thigh;
3. 'Omar 'Ata Barhoum, 11, wounded by a live bullet in the right thigh;
4. Yasser 'Aadel Huneif, 13, wounded by shrapnel in the neck;
5. Mohammed No'man Abu Nada, 14, critically wounded by a live bullet in the back;
6. Hanin Ibrahim al-Kurd, 7, wounded by shrapnel in the right thigh;
7. Zaher Jamal al-Moghayar, 8, wounded by shrapnel in the head;

At approximately 02:00, Israeli occupying forces at the Palestinian-Egyptian border, south of Rafah, shelled Palestinian residential areas in the vicinity of Salah al-Din Gate, adjacent to the border. As a result of the two-hour shelling, 40-year-old Yousef Ahmed Radwan was wounded by shrapnel in the right arm, and a number of houses were damaged.
In an apparent willful killing, Israeli occupying forces shot dead a Palestinian child in al-Bireh. According to information available for PCHR, at approximately 08:40, 'Abdul Salam Fawzi 'Abdul Rahman Samarin, 11, from al-Bireh, left his family house in al-Shurafa area at Ramallah-Jerusalem road.
Ten minutes later, he met two of his friends. They alls stood approximately 10 meters from an Israeli tank. Samarin picked up a stone, and as soon as he raised his head, an Israeli soldier on the tank fired at him. He was wounded. Immediately, he was evacuated to hospital, but he succumbed to his wound. According to Palestinian medical sources, the child was hit by six live bullets in several parts of the body.
At approximately 16:00, Israeli occupying forces at the Palestinian-Egyptian border, south of Rafah, shelled Palestinian residential areas in the vicinity of Salah al-Din Gate, adjacent to the border. Four Palestinian civilians were wounded:
1. Khaled Sa'id Qeshta, 44, wounded by a live bullet in the left arm;
2. Cana'an Mohammed Hamdan, 34, wounded by shrapnel in the head;
3. Yousef Hamed Bahloul, 65, wounded by shrapnel in the abdomen, while he was in his fuel station in the area; and
4. Mohammed 'Omar Mahmoud 'Omar, 55, wounded by shrapnel in the abdomen.
At the same time, Israeli occupying forces, reinforced with three heavy military vehicles and a bulldozer, moved approximately 400m into Palestinian areas north of "Kfar Darom" settlement in the east of Deir al-Balah. They raided a 200-square-meter, two-story house owned by Asa'ad Kamel Bashir. They searched the house and held its 10 residents in one room. Then, they mounted its roof and remained there until 07:00 on the following day. The Israeli bulldozer also razed areas of Palestinian agricultural land.
Late at night, Israeli occupying forces, reinforced by heavy military vehicles and supported by combat helicopters, invaded al-Tuffah neighborhood in the north of Gaza City. They intensely shelled the area, killing a handicapped man and a policewoman and wounding three other civilians. They also destroyed a number of workshops and damaged a number of houses and civilian facilities.
According to PCHR's investigation, at approximately 22:30, Israeli occupying forces surrounded al-Tuffah neighborhood. They seized control over the main roads leading to the neighborhood. Approximately an hour later, they moved into the neighborhood and raided a number of houses. They transformed a number of those houses into military bases.
They indiscriminately shelled the area, killing Ahmed Mahmoud Lubbad, 49, mentally handicapped from al-Daraj neighborhood, who was walking near a workshop, when an Israeli heavy military vehicle fired at him. He received several medium caliber bullets in the left eye, the chest, the abdomen and the limbs. He bled to death. Ambulances could evacuate his body to hospital only at 03:30 on the following day.
Samira Mohammed Khamis al-Dihdar, 33, a policewoman, was killed by a live bullet in the head, while she was in her family's house, trying to calm down children of the family. According to eyewitnesses, Israeli soldiers fired at her from the house of Khalil 'Aatef Khalil Sarsour, which was seized by Israeli forces, approximately 60m away from her family's house. No one knew about the presence of Israeli soldiers in that house as electricity was cut and the windows were closed. In addition three civilians were wounded:
1. Sa'id Daoud al-Rifi, 35, wounded by shrapnel from an artillery shell in the left foot;
2. Ward 'Ali Abu Rashed, 19, wounded by a live bullet in the right thigh; and
3. Hakema 'Awad al-Tarfawi, 21, wounded by a live bullet in the right knee.
Israeli occupying forces also destroyed a number of workshops.
In addition, a number of workshops and civilian facilities were severely damaged.
At approximately 05:00, Israeli occupying forces moved into Jenin refugee camp and imposed a curfew. They raided the house of Hussein Ahmed Fayed. Two floors of the three-story house had already been demolished by Israeli occupying forces on 9 April 2002, while the 11-member family lived on the first floor. Israeli forces planted bombs in the first floor and destroyed it. The owner is father of Amjad and Mohammed Fayed, who were killed by Israeli occupying forces on 3 April 2002, during an invasion into the refugee camp.
In the evening, Israeli occupying forces moved into Tulkarm refugee camp. They raided the house of Mahmoud ‘Abed Rabbu, and arrested his two sons: ‘Abdul Rahman, 29, and Ahmed, 28. When Israeli forces withdrew from the area, they informed the family that the two brothers would remain in custody until their brother Tariq, wanted by those forces, surrendered.

At the same time, Israeli occupying forces, reinforced with three heavy military vehicles and a bulldozer, moved approximately 400m into Palestinian areas north of "Kfar Darom" settlement in the east of Deir al-Balah. They raided a 200-square-meter, two-story house owned by Asa'ad Kamel Bashir. They searched the house and held its 10 residents in one room. Then, they mounted its roof and remained there until 07:00 on the following day. The Israeli bulldozer also razed areas of Palestinian agricultural land.
Late at night, Israeli occupying forces, reinforced by heavy military vehicles and supported by combat helicopters, invaded al-Tuffah neighborhood in the north of Gaza City. They intensely shelled the area, killing a handicapped man and a policewoman and wounding three other civilians. They also destroyed a number of workshops and damaged a number of houses and civilian facilities.
According to PCHR's investigation, at approximately 22:30, Israeli occupying forces surrounded al-Tuffah neighborhood. They seized control over the main roads leading to the neighborhood. Approximately an hour later, they moved into the neighborhood and raided a number of houses. They transformed a number of those houses into military bases.
They indiscriminately shelled the area, killing Ahmed Mahmoud Lubbad, 49, mentally handicapped from al-Daraj neighborhood, who was walking near a workshop, when an Israeli heavy military vehicle fired at him. He received several medium caliber bullets in the left eye, the chest, the abdomen and the limbs. He bled to death. Ambulances could evacuate his body to hospital only at 03:30 on the following day.
Samira Mohammed Khamis al-Dihdar, 33, a policewoman, was killed by a live bullet in the head, while she was in her family's house, trying to calm down children of the family. According to eyewitnesses, Israeli soldiers fired at her from the house of Khalil 'Aatef Khalil Sarsour, which was seized by Israeli forces, approximately 60m away from her family's house. No one knew about the presence of Israeli soldiers in that house as electricity was cut and the windows were closed. In addition three civilians were wounded:
1. Sa'id Daoud al-Rifi, 35, wounded by shrapnel from an artillery shell in the left foot;
2. Ward 'Ali Abu Rashed, 19, wounded by a live bullet in the right thigh; and
3. Hakema 'Awad al-Tarfawi, 21, wounded by a live bullet in the right knee.
Israeli occupying forces also destroyed a number of workshops.
In addition, a number of workshops and civilian facilities were severely damaged.
At approximately 05:00, Israeli occupying forces moved into Jenin refugee camp and imposed a curfew. They raided the house of Hussein Ahmed Fayed. Two floors of the three-story house had already been demolished by Israeli occupying forces on 9 April 2002, while the 11-member family lived on the first floor. Israeli forces planted bombs in the first floor and destroyed it. The owner is father of Amjad and Mohammed Fayed, who were killed by Israeli occupying forces on 3 April 2002, during an invasion into the refugee camp.
In the evening, Israeli occupying forces moved into Tulkarm refugee camp. They raided the house of Mahmoud ‘Abed Rabbu, and arrested his two sons: ‘Abdul Rahman, 29, and Ahmed, 28. When Israeli forces withdrew from the area, they informed the family that the two brothers would remain in custody until their brother Tariq, wanted by those forces, surrendered.
