At approximately 09:00, Israeli heavy military vehicles moved approximately 900m into al-Sudania area, southwest of “Dogit” settlement in the north of Beit Lahia. This incursion continued until 06:00, during which Israeli occupying forces demolished a number of public and private buildings:
1. An 18-donum compound of the Palestinian Ministry of Youth and Sport (the Permanent Arab Summer Camp), which included:
· A 3000-square-meter building that included a cafeteria and a theatre
· A 500-square-meter administrative building
· A 4-donum playground
· Three pools
· 50 bathrooms and toilettes
· 16 tents

Collective Punishment Measures against Families of Palestinians Who Carried out Armed Attacks against Israeli Targets
At approximately 01:10, Israeli occupying forces surrounded the 160-square-meter house of Rasmi ‘Aaref Doufash in al-Jilda neighborhood in Hebron. They forced its seven residents out and destroyed it. Doufash has been under administrative detention by Israeli occupying forces since 29 April 2002. he is the father of Tariq Doufash who was killed in an armed attack on “Adura” settlement, west of Hebron. Two neighboring houses were also damaged.
At approximately 01:30, Israeli occupying forces invaded til village, southwest of Nablus. They surrounded the house of Yousef Hamad Rihan Hamad, father of ‘Assem Rihan who carried an armed attack on “Emanuel” settlement in the north of the west Bank on 12 December 2001. Israeli forces forced residents of the house out and destroyed it. Three neighboring houses were also damaged. Upon their withdrawal from the village, Israeli occupying forces arrested Rihan and three of his son. Israeli forces shot dead Rihan’s son Mohammed, 25, on 12 November 2001.
At the same time, Israeli occupying forces invaded Talluza village, northeast of Nablus. They surrounded the house of Mashour Mohammed ‘Aamer ‘Aawisa. Al-Masri is the father of ‘Ezziddin al-Masri who carried out a bombing in Jerusalem on 8 September 2002.
At the same time, Israeli occupying forces surrounded the house of Kamel Sa’id al-Zubeidi, 70, from Nablus, father of ‘Emad al-Zubeidi, who carried out a bombing in Kfar Saba on 22 April 2001. They arrested him and his two sons: Firas, 18; and Jamal, 16.
At approximately 03:00, Israeli occupying forces surrounded the two-story house of Bahaa’ Yaqin Nasser al-Din in ‘Eissi neighborhood in Hebron. They forced its seven residents out and destroyed it. Israeli forces had already raided the house on Saturday, 3 August, thinking it was for the family of Fadi Mohammed Jamal Dweik, 19, who is detained by Israeli occupying forces, accused of participation in an armed attack on “Adura” settlement, west of Hebron, on 27 April 2002. Nasser al-Din had bought the house from Dweik.
At the same time, Israeli occupying forces invaded Seilat al-Harthia village, west of Jenin. They surrounded the 120-square-meter, two-story house of ‘Eissa Khalil Asa’ad Tahaina. They forced its nine residents of the house out, and then destroyed it. The Israeli forces also arrested four of Tahaina’s sons. Tahaina is the father of ‘Abdul Karim Tahaina who carried out a bombing in Afula in the north of Israel on 5 March 2002.
Also at the same time, Israeli occupying forces invaded Qamatya village, southeast of Jenin. They surrounded al-Tazaza quarter in the centre of the village and forced all its residents out of their houses. Then, Israeli soldiers destroyed the 120-square-meter, two-story of Mahmoud Baker Nasser, 70, in which seven persons used to live. Two neighboring houses and an animal farm were also destroyed, and 11 others were damaged.
In addition, seven Palestinian civilians were wounded by shrapnel.
At approximately 04:45, Israeli occupying forces surrounded the house of ‘Arraf Hassan Samoudi in Abu Duheir neighborhood in Jenin. They forced the 25 residents of the two-story house out and then destroyed the house. The Israeli forces also arrested three of Samoudi’s sons: ‘Allam, 29; ‘Essam, 26; and Akram, 22. Samoudi is the father of Hamza Samudi who carried out a bombing on 5 June 2002.

At approximately 23:00, Israeli occupying forces in military locations in the vicinity of “Neve Dekailm” settlement, west of Khan Yunis, shelled Palestinian houses and civilian facilities in a Khan Yunis refugee camp and al-Nimsawi neighborhood. The indiscriminate shelling also affected the centre of the town. Two Palestinian civilians were wounded:
1. Rim Mahmoud Zaki Shurrab, 23, wounded by a live bullet in the back, while she was about to do the evening prayer in her father’s house, approximately 1700m away from the aforementioned settlement; and
2. ‘Ali Tawfiq Salama Barbakh, 26, wounded by a live bullet in the abdomen, while on duty in the cleaning department of Nasser Hospital, approximately 500m away from the aforementioned settlement.
Parts of Nasser hospital were also damaged and patients, especially women and children, were extremely terrified.
In the evening, Israeli occupying soldiers on armored personnel carrier in the centre of Hebron fired at a Palestinian civilian car in al-Salam Street, killing ‘Abdul Rahim Ibrahim ‘Abdul Rahim al-Tawil, 42.
The victim’s brother stated:
“At approximately 19:00 on Saturday, I traveled from my family’s house in Wadi al-Haria area towards the central market in Hebron. I was driving my family’s car. My brother ‘Abdul Rahim, 42, was traveling with me. We had boxes of tomatoes in the car which we took from our land to sell in the market.
When we left the house, the curfew was still lifted, shops were open and cars were moving. When we arrived at the traffic lights, I turned towards al-Salam Street. I saw many cars traveling back. I asked drivers about the reason for their movement back and they told me that an Israeli armored personnel carrier was moving towards us.
I tried to move back, but the carrier was getting closer. Israeli soldiers fired three live bullets at our car, one of which hit my brother in the face, the second one hit the door and wounded me in the left thumb, while the third one hit the back door of the car.
On my way home, I noticed that my brother was dead. When I was relatively away from the place of the incident I took my brother in another car to hospital.

In the morning, in an excessive use of force, Israeli occupying forces killed an old Palestinian woman when they shelled her house in Wadi al-Salqa village, south of Deir al-Balah, for no apparent reason.
In his testimony to PCHR, the victim’s son ‘Atteya Mohammed Abu Zhaher said:
“At approximately 01:00, I and my mother Fatema ‘Abdullah Abu Zhaher, 85, were sleeping in the yard of the house because of the hot weather. Our house is approximately 500m away from the house of Salah Abu Nahia, which has been seized and transformed into a military location by Israeli occupying forces for six months.
Suddenly, I heard sounds of shooting coming from the Israeli military location. I tried to escape, especially as live bullets were passing over our heads. I had shelter near the stairs. I heard my mother crying. I moved towards her, but shooting continued and I could not move her away. When the shooting stopped, I moved towards my mother. I saw her bleeding from the legs and her left leg was nearly cut.
I covered her. Then, I carried her into a room and called for the ambulance of a medical centre in the village, but medical personnel were not able to come due to the curfew imposed by Israeli occupying forces on the area. Soon, a number of Israeli occupying soldiers raided the house. They shouted in Hebrew, which I understand well: “where is the terrorist you moved into the room.”
I told them that it was my handicapped mother who was wounded by their shooting. One of them, apparently an officer, asked me: “where is he?” I took him to the room and removed the cover my mother had. The scene was horrible.
Soon, he called for an Israeli ambulance which came ten minutes later. A doctor offered first aid and then, they evacuated her to an Israeli hospital. At approximately 08:00, I was informed by the Palestinian Liaison Department that my mother died. At approximately 16:00, we received her body. I noticed that her leg was cut and there were stitches in her chest and side.”
At approximately 01:00, Israeli military vehicles moved approximately 200m into al-Salam neighborhood, adjacent to the Egyptian-Palestinian border in the south of Rafah. A number of Palestinian gunmen confronted the invading Israeli forces.
Armed clashes took place between the two sides, in which Ahmed Tawfiq ‘Abdul ‘Azziz, 18, was killed by a live bullet in the chest.
At the same time, Israeli heavy military vehicles moved approximately 200m into al-Brazil neighborhood near al-Salam neighborhood. They called on Palestinians living in the area to evacuate their houses immediately warning that a heavy explosion would occur, which would pose danger to their lives. Palestinians left their houses very soon without being able to evacuate their heavy belongings.
At approximately 03:30, Israeli occupying forces planted bombs inside a 250-square-meter, two-story house, in which 12 people used to live, owned by Nazhmi al-Houli. Then, they destroyed it. As a result, seven adjacent houses were damaged.
Israeli military bulldozers also demolished a 105-square-meter, asbestos-roofed house, in which 5 people used to live, owned by Tala’at Hassan Mustafa al-Houli.
Although Nablus and its four refugee camps had been under full control and curfew imposed by Israeli occupying forces since 21 June 2002, Israeli occupying forces, reinforced with approximately 70 tanks, armored personnel carriers and bulldozers and supported by two helicopters, invaded the city on Friday morning. They imposed a siege on the old town and shelled Palestinian houses. As soon as they seized complete control over the city, Israeli soldiers mounted roofs of houses and fired at Palestinian houses and civilians.
In the early hours of the Israeli invasion, two Palestinian civilians were killed while inside their houses:
1. Ra’ed Fathi al-‘Amad, 28, hit by a live bullet in the chest; and
2. Nu’man Hussein Zallum, 40, hit by a live bullet in the back.
In addition, five civilians were wounded:
1. Wissam Salim Shahin, 41, seriously wounded by two live bullets in the chest;
2. Amjad Shahin, 21, seriously wounded by a live bullet in the chest;
3. Samer al-Qutati, 31, wounded by a live bullet in the right thigh;
4. ‘Abdul Nasser al-Aghbar, 37, wounded by shrapnel throughout the body; and
5. Maysaa’ Tayer, 17, wounded by shrapnel in the chest.
According to eyewitnesses, Israeli occupying forced denied access of ambulances to the wounded, including the two individuals who bled to death.
Israeli occupying forces demolished and destroyed a number of houses and public and private institutions.
Israeli occupying forces also conducted a large number of arrests. They gathered all Palestinians aged 15-50 in al-Fatimia School and interrogated them. Israeli military sources stated that their occupying forces arrested 40 Palestinians in al-Qasaba quarter, including Hiba al-‘Attari, 25, the wife of Ibrahim Mohammed al-‘Aattari who is wanted by Israeli occupying forces, mother of two children.
Her neighbors were forced to look after the children.
Israeli occupying forces held 25 Palestinian families in the house of ‘Awni Mansour in al-Qariun quarter in the old town. They also held 20 Palestinian civilians, including 14 children, in the house of journalist ‘Emad Sa’ada in the old town.
Collective Punishment Measures against Families of Palestinians Who Carried out Armed Attacks against Israeli Targets
At approximately 02:30, Israeli occupying forces, reinforced with tanks and armored personnel carriers, invaded Nour Shams refugee camp, east of Tulkrm. They surrounded the house of ‘Omar Hmdan ‘Oleyan in al-Manshia quarter.
‘Oleyan is father of Ahmed ‘Oleyan who carried out a bombing in Netanya, north of Tel Aviv, on 4 March 2001. Israeli forces ordered residents of the house and neighboring houses to leave them immediately without taking anything. At approximately 02:45, Israeli soldiers destroyed the door of the house.
At approximately 05:30, they totally destroyed the 110-square-meter, two-story house over its contents. Nine persons, including five children used to live in the house. In addition, 16 neighboring houses were damaged.
Also at approximately 02:30, Israeli occupying forces surrounded the house of the family of Hatem Yaqin Shwieki, who carried out a bombing in East Jerusalem on 4 November 2001. The 160-square-meter, three-story house, in which 18 persons used to live, is located in ‘Eissi neighborhood in Hebron. Israeli forces forced residents of the house out and destroyed it.
At approximately 03:00, Israeli occupying forces raided the house of ‘Ammar Ahmed Mahmoud Marmash, 29, from Tulkarm, and arrested him.
Marmash’s brother Mahmoud carried out a bombing in Netanya, north of Tel Aviv, on 18 May 2002.
New Assassination
At approximately 02:30, Israeli occupying forces invaded Salem village, east of Nablus, and surrounded a number of houses. Approximately 15 minutes later, they raided the house of Rida Eshtayeh and forced him to leave the house and accompany them towards the house of Amjad ‘Abdul Hadi Jbour, 35, a Hamas activist.
They forced him to enter Jobour’s house and ordered him to get out with his hands over his head and without clothes covering the upper part of the body. According to an eyewitness, Jbour left the house unarmed and with his hands over his head. Israeli soldiers took him approximately 40m away from the house.
At approximately 03:25, Israeli soldiers turned off their military vehicle lights and repeated shooting was soon heard. According to the eyewitness, she looked through her window to see what had happened. She saw a person on the ground. Then, Israeli forces left the area.
Ten minutes later, the eyewitness’ husband exited to see what happened. He found Jbour’s body on the ground. He two lbullets in the neck and the chest. Israeli occupying forces at entrances of Nablus prevented the evacuation of the body to hospitals of the city.

At approximately 01:00, Israeli military vehicles moved approximately 200m into al-Salam neighborhood, adjacent to the Egyptian-Palestinian border in the south of Rafah. A number of Palestinian gunmen confronted the invading Israeli forces.
Armed clashes took place between the two sides, in which Ahmed Tawfiq ‘Abdul ‘Azziz, 18, was killed by a live bullet in the chest.
At the same time, Israeli heavy military vehicles moved approximately 200m into al-Brazil neighborhood near al-Salam neighborhood. They called on Palestinians living in the area to evacuate their houses immediately warning that a heavy explosion would occur, which would pose danger to their lives. Palestinians left their houses very soon without being able to evacuate their heavy belongings.
At approximately 03:30, Israeli occupying forces planted bombs inside a 250-square-meter, two-story house, in which 12 people used to live, owned by Nazhmi al-Houli. Then, they destroyed it. As a result, seven adjacent houses were damaged.
Israeli military bulldozers also demolished a 105-square-meter, asbestos-roofed house, in which 5 people used to live, owned by Tala’at Hassan Mustafa al-Houli.
Although Nablus and its four refugee camps had been under full control and curfew imposed by Israeli occupying forces since 21 June 2002, Israeli occupying forces, reinforced with approximately 70 tanks, armored personnel carriers and bulldozers and supported by two helicopters, invaded the city on Friday morning. They imposed a siege on the old town and shelled Palestinian houses. As soon as they seized complete control over the city, Israeli soldiers mounted roofs of houses and fired at Palestinian houses and civilians.
In the early hours of the Israeli invasion, two Palestinian civilians were killed while inside their houses:
1. Ra’ed Fathi al-‘Amad, 28, hit by a live bullet in the chest; and
2. Nu’man Hussein Zallum, 40, hit by a live bullet in the back.
In addition, five civilians were wounded:
1. Wissam Salim Shahin, 41, seriously wounded by two live bullets in the chest;
2. Amjad Shahin, 21, seriously wounded by a live bullet in the chest;
3. Samer al-Qutati, 31, wounded by a live bullet in the right thigh;
4. ‘Abdul Nasser al-Aghbar, 37, wounded by shrapnel throughout the body; and
5. Maysaa’ Tayer, 17, wounded by shrapnel in the chest.
According to eyewitnesses, Israeli occupying forced denied access of ambulances to the wounded, including the two individuals who bled to death.
Israeli occupying forces demolished and destroyed a number of houses and public and private institutions.
Israeli occupying forces also conducted a large number of arrests. They gathered all Palestinians aged 15-50 in al-Fatimia School and interrogated them. Israeli military sources stated that their occupying forces arrested 40 Palestinians in al-Qasaba quarter, including Hiba al-‘Attari, 25, the wife of Ibrahim Mohammed al-‘Aattari who is wanted by Israeli occupying forces, mother of two children.
Her neighbors were forced to look after the children.
Israeli occupying forces held 25 Palestinian families in the house of ‘Awni Mansour in al-Qariun quarter in the old town. They also held 20 Palestinian civilians, including 14 children, in the house of journalist ‘Emad Sa’ada in the old town.
Collective Punishment Measures against Families of Palestinians Who Carried out Armed Attacks against Israeli Targets
At approximately 02:30, Israeli occupying forces, reinforced with tanks and armored personnel carriers, invaded Nour Shams refugee camp, east of Tulkrm. They surrounded the house of ‘Omar Hmdan ‘Oleyan in al-Manshia quarter.
‘Oleyan is father of Ahmed ‘Oleyan who carried out a bombing in Netanya, north of Tel Aviv, on 4 March 2001. Israeli forces ordered residents of the house and neighboring houses to leave them immediately without taking anything. At approximately 02:45, Israeli soldiers destroyed the door of the house.
At approximately 05:30, they totally destroyed the 110-square-meter, two-story house over its contents. Nine persons, including five children used to live in the house. In addition, 16 neighboring houses were damaged.
Also at approximately 02:30, Israeli occupying forces surrounded the house of the family of Hatem Yaqin Shwieki, who carried out a bombing in East Jerusalem on 4 November 2001. The 160-square-meter, three-story house, in which 18 persons used to live, is located in ‘Eissi neighborhood in Hebron. Israeli forces forced residents of the house out and destroyed it.
At approximately 03:00, Israeli occupying forces raided the house of ‘Ammar Ahmed Mahmoud Marmash, 29, from Tulkarm, and arrested him.
Marmash’s brother Mahmoud carried out a bombing in Netanya, north of Tel Aviv, on 18 May 2002.
New Assassination
At approximately 02:30, Israeli occupying forces invaded Salem village, east of Nablus, and surrounded a number of houses. Approximately 15 minutes later, they raided the house of Rida Eshtayeh and forced him to leave the house and accompany them towards the house of Amjad ‘Abdul Hadi Jbour, 35, a Hamas activist.
They forced him to enter Jobour’s house and ordered him to get out with his hands over his head and without clothes covering the upper part of the body. According to an eyewitness, Jbour left the house unarmed and with his hands over his head. Israeli soldiers took him approximately 40m away from the house.
At approximately 03:25, Israeli soldiers turned off their military vehicle lights and repeated shooting was soon heard. According to the eyewitness, she looked through her window to see what had happened. She saw a person on the ground. Then, Israeli forces left the area.
Ten minutes later, the eyewitness’ husband exited to see what happened. He found Jbour’s body on the ground. He two lbullets in the neck and the chest. Israeli occupying forces at entrances of Nablus prevented the evacuation of the body to hospitals of the city.

Israeli military bulldozers destroyed a tract of agricultural land owned by ‘Omar ‘Ali ‘Othman al-Agha and bothers. They destroyed three greenhouses containing vegetables, a well, an irrigation network, two stores and a water pump.
At approximately 07:00, Israeli heavy military vehicles moved approximately 400m into Abu Houli area in the south of Deir al-Balah. An Israeli military bulldozer razed a 3-donum area of agricultural land planted with olives owned by Ahmed Mahamoud Abu Houli.
At approximately 07:30, Israeli occupying forces surrounded an abandoned 160-square-meter, two-story house in al-Hawashi quarter in Jenin refugee camp, owned by Subhi Mohammed Abu Tabikh.
They planted bombs inside the house and destroyed it. They claimed that they destroyed the house because Mohammed Abu Tabikh was head of the military wing of the Islamic Jihad in Jenin.
At approximately 17:30, Israeli occupying forces in military locations in the vicinity of “Netser Hazani” settlement, northwest of Khan Yunis, opened fire at Palestinian houses in al-Qarara village to the east.
A Palestinian civilian, ‘Abdul Hadi ‘Abdul ‘Aal al-‘Abadla, 55, was wounded by two live bullets in the right side and the left thigh, while inside his house, approximately 150m east of the aforementioned settlement. In addition, the house was severely damaged.
At approximately 20:10, for no apparent reason Israeli occupying forces resumed shelling al-Qarara village.
A 9-year-old Palestinian child, Asmaa’ Tahsin Ahmed, was killed by a heavy caliber bullet in the back.
According to eyewitnesses, the child was with her mother and brothers in a visit to her aunt’s house, approximately 350m east of the aforementioned settlement. She was sitting on a plastic chair together with the family in the backyard of the house. Her back was to the direction of the settlement.
When all of them heard sounds of shooting coming from the settlement and saw live bullets passing near them, they all tried to escape. The child cried and fell to the ground. Her mother hurried and hugged her. She saw that she was bleeding from the back.
She and other members of the family carried her towards the main road. She was taken in a car towards hospital, but she succumbed to her wounds before arriving at hospital.
At approximately 18:00, medical sources at Shifa’ Hospital in Gaza declared that Marwan Jamal Hussein Khayal, 69, from Gaza, succumbed to a wound he sustained by Israeli occupying forces last month.
Khayal was wounded by a live bullet in the left leg on 15 July, when Israeli occupying forces at the eastern border of the Gaza Strip, east of Gaza City, fired at him for no apparent reason. Israeli forces arrested and interrogated him for two hours. He was then evacuated to the intensive care unit at Shifa’ Hospital, where he remained until his death. According to his sister, he was suffering from psychological disturbances.
Collective Punishment Measures against Families of Palestinians Who Carried out Armed Attacks against Israeli Targets
In violation of the international law and humanitarian law which prohibit collective punishment, especially Article 33 of the Geneva Convention Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, which prohibits punishing any protected person for an offense he or she has not personally committed, and Article 9 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which provides that “no one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile,” Israeli occupying forces took retaliatory measures against families of Palestinians who have carried attacks against Israeli targets both inside the Green Line and in the Occupied Palestinian Terrories.
At approximately 02:30 on Thursday, 1 August, Israeli occupying forces destroyed the house of ‘Ata Yousef Sarasra in al-Ghawali neighborhood in Beit Jala. Sarara is the father of Hazem Sarara, 17, who carried out a bombing in Jerusalem on 30 July 2002. Israeli occupying forces first surrounded the house and called on its residents through loudspeakers to leave it. Then, they planted bombs inside the 240-square-meter house, which had housed 8 persons, and destroyed it. An adjacent house was also damaged.
In the evening, the Israeli Attorney General Elyakim Rubinstein told the Israeli General Security Service that they could deport to the Gaza Strip relatives of Palestinians who carried out attacks against Israeli targets. He also allowed selective demolishing of some of their houses. Immediately, the Israeli cabinet for political and security issues decided to expel ‘Abdul Nasser Mustafa ‘Assida, 34, from Til village, southwest of Nablus, brother of Nasser al-Din ‘Assida who is wanted by Israeli occupying forces; and Kifah Mohammed Ahmed ‘Ajouri, 28, from ‘Askar refugee camp in Nablus, brother of ‘Ali ‘Ajouri who is also wanted by Israeli occupying forces. The two were arrested with 14 other Palestinians, relatives of wanted Palestinians, on Friday, 19 July 2002.
Sixteen Palestinians submitted a petition to the Israeli High Court against the expulsions, but the Israeli government claimed that it had not taken a decision on their expulsion and when it takes a decision it would give them 12 hours to appeal against the decision.
After the Israeli government’s decision, Israeli occupying forces demolished and destroyed houses of families of a number of Palestinians who carried out attacks against Israeli targets.

At approximately 01:00, Israeli occupying forces in military locations in the vicinity of “Gadid” settlement, southwest of Khan Yunis, opened fire at Palestinian houses in the cemeteries and Batan al-Samin areas.
Samar ‘Abdul Hamid Zo’rob, 17, was wounded by a live bullet in the right side, while she was sleeping in the balcony of her house, approximately 500m east of the aforementioned settlement.
A number of houses were also damaged.
At the same time, Israeli occupying forces in military locations in the vicinity of “Neve Dekalim” settlement, west of Khan Yunis, opened fire at Palestinian houses in Khan Yunis refugee camp and al-Amal neighborhood. Two women and a child were wounded while sleeping in their houses:
1. Entissar Mohammed Abu Sahlul, 14, wounded by shrapnel in the right foot;
2. Haijar ‘Abdul Majid Salama, 45, wounded by shrapnel in the right shoulder; and
3. Sumaya Ibrahim Hillu, 43, wounded by a live bullet in the right shoulder.
In addition, a number of houses and a car were damaged.

They forced the families, all living in this building after their houses were demolished by Israeli occupying forces in Jenin refugee camp last April, out of the building and destroyed the northwestern part of it.
An adjacent commercial building was also damaged.
In the morning, Israeli occupying forces, that had already seized complete control over Qalqilya, raided the house of Maher Saleh Abu ‘Assab, 33, and arrested him.
At approximately 10:00, Israeli occupying forces, that had already seized complete control over Tulkarm, opened fire at Palestinian houses in the north of the town. Five houses were damaged, but no casualties were reported.
At approximately 12:00, Israeli occupying forces moved into ‘Arraba village, south of Jenin, and imposed a curfew. They raided some houses. According to an eyewitness, he and his relatives, who were in a consolation house, were surprised by a number of gunmen in civilian clothes attacking the house and firing in all directions. They were members of an undercover unit of Israeli occupying forces. They arrested two Palestinians.
At approximately 21:00, Israeli occupying forces positioned northeast of Nablus shelled Balata refugee camp, al-Hisba Street and al-Maslakh area. No casualties were reported, but the electricity network was damaged.

At approximately 12:30, Israeli occupying forces in military locations in the vicinity of “Neve Dekalim” settlement, west of Khan Yunis, opened fire at Khan Yunis refugee camp. Two Palestinian children were wounded while inside their houses:

On Monday, 29 July, an old Palestinian, ‘Ata Mahmoud Ibrahim Nemer, 68, from al-Jeib village, northwest of occupied Jerusalem, succumbed to an injury he sustained on 21 July, when a Jewish settler ran him over.
According the victim’s son Zahran, 23, while his father was crossing the main road linking “Giva’at Ze’iv” and “Hadashot” settlements, northwest of Jerusalem, a Jewish settler traveling in a civilian car ran him over.

A PCHR field worker reported that Israeli forces destroyed a water network in the area.
At approximately 09:30, Israeli occupying forces, reinforced with tanks, armored personnel carrier and an armored military bulldozer, surrounded a 250-square-meter, three-story house, in which 11 people used to live, owned by Mousa al-Tuneib Jardat, father of Martyr Majdi Jaradat, in Wadi Burqin, west of Jenin.
They forced its residents out. At approximately 10:00, Israeli forces shelled the house and then the bulldozer demolished completely. Upon their withdrawal from the area, Israeli occupying forced arrested two Palestinians who were living in the house.
In the morning, Israeli occupying forces raided and the house of Subhi Abu Tabikh in Jenin. They arrested his son Mohammed, 22, claiming that he was wanted due to his activities with the Islamic Jihad.
At approximately 18:00, Israeli heavy military vehicles moved approximately 400m into al-Farahin area in Aabasan village, east of Khan Yunis. An Israeli bulldozer leveled an area of agricultural land owned by the family that had been already razed by Israeli forces last month.
At approximately 18:30, Israeli occupying forces moved into Bitounia town, west of Ramallah. They raided and searched the house of Mukhles Hashem al-Tartir, 42, and arrested him together with his two sons: Tayseer, 19; and Bassem, 17.
Israeli forces also arrested Sheikh Hussein Abu Kweik, 45, from al-Am’ari refugee camp, a political leader of Hamas, and his bodyguard Faraj Abu Rummana, 34, also from al-Am’ari refugee camp.
Israeli occupying forces attempted to assassinate Abu Kweik on 4 March 2002, when an Israeli tank positioned inside “Psagot” settlement fired a shell at his car. His wife, three of his children and two other children were killed and he survived as he was not traveling in the car.
At approximately 21:20, Israeli occupying soldiers in an observation tower stables on a moveable elevator in the vicinity of “Neve Dekalim” settlement, west of Khan Yunis, opened fire for no apparent reason at Khan Yunis refugee camp after the evening prayer. Two people were wounded:
1. Mohammed Ghazi al-Khuzendar, 22, wounded by an explosive live bullet in the right hand; and
2. Ahmed ‘Abdul Fattah Huneideq, 20, wounded by an explosive live bullet in the head.
At approximately 20:10, two Israeli military jeeps moved into al-Mazra’a al-Sharqia village, under Israeli security control, northeast of Ramallah. They fired sound bombs and tear gas canisters at Palestinian villagers for no apparent reason.
Then, a number of Palestinian men and boys threw stones at Israeli soldiers, who responded by firing at the stone thrower from a very short distance.
Ma’mun Muhie al-Din al-Zeben, 18, was wounded by a live bullet in the back.
According to eyewitnesses, Israeli soldiers fired at him from a distance of less than 30m. They also put him in front of a house and denied him access to medical care for more than 30 minutes. He was taken to a medical centre in the village, but he soon succumbed to his wound.
Attacks by Jewish Settlers on Palestinian Civilians
On Sunday afternoon, a number of Jewish settlers coming from “Beit Ramanu” settlement attacked Palestinian houses in the old town of Hebron, especially in al-Shiludi area. They fired at Palestinian civilians and set fire to a number of houses and damaged their contents. A Palestinian girl, Nivin Mousa Jamjum, 14, was wounded by a live bullet in the right eye. At the same time, a number of Jewish settlers attacked Palestinian civilians in the part of Hebron under Israeli security control, wounding 45-year-old Anwar Mohammed Musawda with a live bullet in the right hand.
In addition, 40-year-old Nuzha Mohammed Noufal sustained bruises.
At approximately 04:30, Israeli heavy military vehicles moved approximately 400m into al-Satar al-Gharbi area in the northwest of Khan Yunis. An Israeli bulldozer leveled areas of agricultural land that had been already razed on 25 July.
A PCHR field worker reported that Israeli forces destroyed a water network in the area.
At approximately 09:30, Israeli occupying forces, reinforced with tanks, armored personnel carrier and an armored military bulldozer, surrounded a 250-square-meter, three-story house, in which 11 people used to live, owned by Mousa al-Tuneib Jardat, father of Martyr Majdi Jaradat, in Wadi Burqin, west of Jenin.
They forced its residents out. At approximately 10:00, Israeli forces shelled the house and then the bulldozer demolished completely. Upon their withdrawal from the area, Israeli occupying forced arrested two Palestinians who were living in the house.
In the morning, Israeli occupying forces raided and the house of Subhi Abu Tabikh in Jenin. They arrested his son Mohammed, 22, claiming that he was wanted due to his activities with the Islamic Jihad.

Ibtihal Ibrahim Shubeir, 15, was wounded by shrapnel in the face while she was inside her house, approximately 1100m away from the aforementioned settlement. In addition, a number of houses were damaged.
At approximately 07:30, Israeli occupying soldiers in the vicinity of “Neve Dekalim” settlement, west of Khan Yunis, fired at Ramadan Isma’il Mahmoud Ahmed, 42, wounding him with a live bullet in the left hand.
According to Ahmed, he was on the roof of his house, approximately 200m away from the settlement, when he was fired at by Israeli soldiers.

At approximately 22:00 on the same day, a number of Jewish settlers coming from “Avraham Avino” settlement attacked the house of ‘Ezziddin Nour al-Din al-Sharbati in Qantarat al-Hamam area in the old town of Hebron.
They attacked the 18-member family, set fire to two rooms of the houses and destroyed some of its contents.

On Friday Israeli forces targeted and destroyed a number of Palestinian workshops in al-Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City. The destruction of civilian property, which is a war crime under the Fourth Geneva Convention, seems to be a part of a systematic policy adopted by Israeli occupying forces of striking Palestinian economic resources. Israeli forces also shelled the area, sounding five Palestinian civilians.
According to PCHR’s investigation, early in the morning, Israeli heavy military vehicles moved approximately 1000m into Palestinian areas west of a settler road linking al-Mentar crossing and al-Shuhada junction south of Gaza City. They intensely shelled the area, wounding five Palestinian civilians.
Then, Israeli forces attacked a number of Palestinian workshops, approximately 1200 north of al-Shuhada junction. They destroyed two turnery workshops and contents of some other workshops, and damaged a number of houses and civilian facilities.
Following are details of the damage caused by Israeli occupying forces:
1. Israeli occupying forces shelled an 800-square-meter, iron-roofed metal factory, approximately 100m west of Salah al-Din Street (the main road between the north and south of the Gaza Strip), which manufactures cooking stoves, car bodies, screws and shelves, in which 16 workers used to work, owned by ‘Azmi and Ramzi Mohammed ‘Atwa Abu Laban. Then, they broke into the factory, planted bombs and then destroyed it. Owners of the factory stated that there is a strong competition between their factory and similar Israeli factories. The factory sells its products much cheaper than Israeli products.
2. Israeli occupying forces attacked a 200-square-meter turnery workshop, west of Salah al-Din Street, owned by Mohammed Sa’id Hassan Abu Jahal. They destroyed its doors. Then, they planted bombs inside and destroyed the workshop.
3. As a result of destroying the aforementioned workshop, large amounts of materials, a roasting machine, a grinding machine, an electricity network and doors of a 60-square-meter grinder, located in the same building, owned by Jaber Mohammed Saleh al-‘Akkawi, were destroyed.
4. Four electricity generators, a melting machine and parts of generators in a 30-square-meter store, located in the same building, owned by Maher ‘Othman al-Sirhi, were destroyed.
5. Israeli occupying forces attacked a 250-square-meter car maintenance workshop, located on the first floor of a tw0-story building owned by Muntaser Mohammed Ahmed Dababesh. Many car parts were destroyed. Then, an Israeli bulldozer destroyed doors of the workshop, and Israeli soldiers thoroughly searched it and broke windows of a car owned by Dababesh.
6. Israeli occupying forces destroyed doors of a 360-square-meter, iron-roofed plastic factory, owned by Mohammed Sa’id Abu Jahal and rented by ‘Othman Mohammed al-Sirhi. They also searched the factory.
7. Israeli occupying forces destroyed doors, an electric saw and an electric cutter of a smithery workshop, located on the first floor of a 300-square-meter, three-story building owned by Zuhair Mithqal ‘Abdul Majid Khudeir.
8. They destroyed some contents and three doors of a 3000-square-meter factory of metal industries owned by Yousef Rabah Rashid Sharaf.
Israeli occupying forces also destroyed two cars owned by ‘Abdul Baset Rezeq Salem al-Sawafiri and Bassem Khalil Ahmed al-‘Akka.
Those wounded by Israeli shelling were:
1. Kamal ‘Adnan Rahmi, 3, wounded by shrapnel in the abdomen;
2. Rami ‘Esmat Dallul, 25, wounded by shrapnel in the face;
3. Ahmed Munir al-Kabariti, 20, critically wounded by a live bullet in the right thigh;
4. Samaher Najib Shuheiber, 22, wounded by shrapnel in the face; and
5. Mousa Mahmoud al-Aqra’, 25, wounded by a live bullet in the left hand and thigh.

4. Ghassan Fayez Ahmed Hunideq, 30, wounded by shrapnel in the back.
According to Palestinian medical sources, the four were wounded by shrapnel from explosive live bullets.

At approximately 04:00, Israeli occupying forces, reinforced with tanks and armored personnel carriers, moved into al-Yamun village, west of Jenin. They opened fire at Palestinian houses, wounding 17-year-old Mu’ayad Ahmed Jaradat with a live bullet in the right leg.
Upon their withdrawal from the village, Israeli forces arrested three Palestinians.

Then, they seized control over the house, under dull protection of Israeli occupying forces and police. Later, Israeli forces took the family of al-Saharbati out of the house, allegedly to protect them from settlers who seized the house.
Despite attempts by the family to remain in the house, Israeli police used force to drive them out of the house, instead of expelling the settlers.

In the morning, Israeli occupying forces invaded Qalqilya. They raided and searched some houses and arrested Ahmed Hazzaa’ Shureim, Secretary of Fatah Movement in the town, and his brother Eyad.
Also in the morning, Israeli occupying forces seized control over Bethlehem and ‘Aaida refugee camp, north of the town. They arrested Mohammed ‘Awad Ahmed ‘Awad, 27.
Also in the morning, Israeli occupying forces moved into Bitounia town, west of Ramallah. They raided the house of ‘Abdul Fattah Ahmed Ghanem, the Palestinian President’s Advisor on Refugees.
According to his son Nasser, Israeli soldiers forced his father out, and when his sister Amal tried to give her father medicine, since he suffers from diabetes, they prevented her. Ghanem, member of the political bureau of Palestine Liberation Front, was taken to an unknown destination.
At approximately 10:00, Israeli occupying forces, reinforced with heavy military vehicles, moved approximately 500m into al-Satar al-Gharbi area in the northwest of Khan Yunis. They intensely opened fire at Palestinian houses.
Then, they raided the house of ‘Ali Ahmed Mohammed al-Astal. They detained the 6-member family in one room and searched the house.
Israeli forces also broke into al-Rahman Mosque, which is under construction, mounted on its roof and fired at a summer camp to the east, in which around 100 children participate.
No casualties were reported, but children were terrified and the administration of the camp was forces to cancel activities of the camp for the rest of the day.
After this incursion, Israeli heavy military vehicles took position in the vicinity of “Netser Hazani” settlement, approximately 500m away from the area. An Israeli military armored bulldozer razed areas of Palestinian agricultural land.
In the morning, Israeli occupying forces invaded Qalqilya. They raided and searched some houses and arrested Ahmed Hazzaa’ Shureim, Secretary of Fatah Movement in the town, and his brother Eyad.
Also in the morning, Israeli occupying forces seized control over Bethlehem and ‘Aaida refugee camp, north of the town. They arrested Mohammed ‘Awad Ahmed ‘Awad, 27.
Also in the morning, Israeli occupying forces moved into Bitounia town, west of Ramallah. They raided the house of ‘Abdul Fattah Ahmed Ghanem, the Palestinian President’s Advisor on Refugees.
According to his son Nasser, Israeli soldiers forced his father out, and when his sister Amal tried to give her father medicine, since he suffers from diabetes, they prevented her. Ghanem, member of the political bureau of Palestine Liberation Front, was taken to an unknown destination.
