In the morning, Israeli occupying forces at a military roadblock at the northern entrance of Bethlehem shot dead a Palestinian laborer who attempted to cross the roadblock without permission.
According to investigation carried out by LAW, at approximately 07:00, Mousa ‘Abdul Rahman Dharaghma, 35, from al-Duheisha refugee camp, south of Bethlehem, arrived at an Israeli military roadblock at the northern entrance of the city, while traveling to his work in occupied Jerusalem.
As he did not have a permit issued by Israeli occupying forces to enter Jerusalem, he resorted to an adjacent muddy road. Soon, Israeli forces shot him dead and kept his body.
At approximately 03:00, Israeli occupying forces invaded Salfit in the north of the West Bank. They shelled Palestinian houses and sites of the Palestinian National Security Force.
Fahad Hassan ‘Arar, 22, from Qarawat Bani Zeid in Ramallah, a member of the Palestinian National Security Force, was seriously wounded by several live bullets throughout the body. Israeli forces also arrested 15 Palestinians.
At approximately 13:00, Israeli occupying forces informed the Palestinian side through the liaison committee that there was a corpse of a Palestinian near the junction of ‘Aanin village, west of Jenin. Soon, an ambulance of Palestine Red Crescent Society went to the area and evacuated the body, which was cut into two parts.
Later, the victim was identified as Khaled Mahmoud Zakarna, 30, from Deir Ghazala, east of Jenin.
Israeli occupying forces claimed that Zakarna was on his way to carry out an attack inside the Green Line, but a Palestinian security source stated to LAW that Zakarna was killed by a tank shell. Zakarna’s body was found approximately 100m away from the area where Israeli tanks were positioned, which undermines the Israeli claim.
Earlier this month, on 5 May, Israeli occupying forces opened fire at a Palestinian family while working in a farm near Qabatya village near Jenin, killing a woman and her two children. Israeli forces first claimed that an explosion occurred in the area, but later they admitted that the woman and her children were killed by mistake and expressed regrets for their deaths.
At approximately 09:30-10:30, Israeli occupying forces positioned at the eastern border of the Gaza Strip shelled the east of Jabalya.
A Palestinian farmer, ‘Alla’ Isma’il Habib, 32, from al-Shojaeya neighborhood, was wounded by shrapnel in the right arm.
A cow farm of al-Sakhra Association was severely damaged and some cows were killed.
New Assassination
On Wednesday evening, Israeli occupying forces assassinated three members of al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades and a bystander in Balata refugee camp. At approximately 19:00, while three members of al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades were in the cemetery of Balata refugee camp, Israeli tanks at al-Tour Mount, south of Nablus, fired several flechette shells that killed the three:
1. Mahmoud ‘Abdullah al-Titi, 31;
2. ‘Emad Salim al-Khatib, 27; and
3. Eyad Samir Hamdan, 23.
A passing civilian, Bashir Mohammed Ya’ish, 31, from Nablus, was seriously wounded. He was evacuated to hospital where he soon succumbed to his wound.
Israeli occupying forces admitted responsibility for the assassination. The Israeli daily Yediot Aaharanot on its Arabic web page quoted an Israeli military spokesman as saying that “the most wanted Palestinian in the West Bank, Mahmoud al-Titi, was killed by a tank shell in the cemetery of Balata refugee camp after he was identified.”
He added that “al-Titi held a meeting in the place with some activists of Fatah Movement according to intelligence information. A tank moved and fired several shells at them.”

At approximately 04:00, Israeli heavy military vehicles moved approximately 1km into Gaza Valley village in the southeast of Gaza. They demolished a 200-square-meter site used by the Palestinian Military Intelligence Service, and razed a 500-square-meter area of agricultural land planted with olives owned by Moussa Arafat, head of the Military Intelligence Service. Israeli forces also destroyed a 2-donum area of agricultural land planted with tomatoes, owned by Jihad Ghazi Hajji.
At approximately 09:00, Israeli occupying forces moved approximately 50m into al-Mughraqa village in the south of Gaza. They demolished a 120-square-meter, asbestos-roofed house, in which 10 people used to live, owned by Fayez Salim al-Khurati. An adjacent house owned by Nazhmi ‘Ali Abu Khubeiza was damaged.
At approximately 14:00, Israeli occupying forces positioned at the Egyptian border, south of Rafah, opened fire at Palestinian houses in Rafah refugee camp until 19:00. Five Palestinian civilians were wounded:
1. Mohammed Talal Kassab, 17, critically wounded by a live bullet in the back and succumbed to his wound at hospital at 21:00;
2. Najat Saleh al-Sha’er, 13, wounded by shrapnel in the back;
3. Ahmed Hassan Abu Shawish, 17, seriously wounded by a live bullet in the head;
4. Marwan ‘Aadel al-Houli, 19, wounded by shrapnel in the right leg; and
5. Hamad Khader Zannun, 19, wounded by shrapnel in the back.

Owners of the two houses received notices by Israeli occupying forces that their houses would be demolished one month ago, but PCHR was able to stop the demolition after obtaining a decision from the Israeli Supreme Court.

At approximately 01:00, Israeli occupying forces in the vicinity of “Neve Dekalim” settlement, west of Khan Yunis, shelled al-Nimsawi neighborhood in the southwest of the town. Fifteen artillery shells fell on the yard of apartment buildings of al-Farra Company.
A number of nearby houses were damaged, but no casualties were reported.
At approximately 23:00, Israeli occupying forces coming from “Kfar Darom” settlement moved approximately 200m into Palestinian agricultural land in the east of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza strip. They razed areas of agricultural land:
1. They razed a 5-donum area of agricultural land planted with olives and palms and destroyed an irrigation network, owned by Mohammed Ahmed Baraka and sons.
2. They razed a 1.5-donum area of agricultural land planted with olives and palms and destroyed an agricultural pool and a water pump, owned by Mohammed Jaber Suleiman Baraka.
3. They demolished two rooms that served as agricultural stores and destroyed an agricultural pool and a water pump owned by Jamil Jaber Baraka.
4. They demolished the fence of a house owned by Fadhel Yousef al-Qaedra.
5. They destroyed a 200-meter-long water pipeline, a sprinkler and agricultural tools owned by ‘Othman Salama Baraka.
Israeli forces withdrew from the area only at 08:00 on the following day.

At approximately 07:30, Israeli occupying forces at a military roadblock at the junction of Deir Ebzi’-‘Ein ‘Arik, west of Ramallah, fired at a number of Palestinian civilians who were walking on a muddy road from their villages towards Ramallah.
Ghassan Sakeb ‘Abdullah, 22, from Deir Ebzi’ village, was wounded by a live bullet in the right thigh.
At approximately 16:15, Israeli occupying forces at a military checkpoint at al-Matahen junction, north of Khan Yunis fired at Palestinian civilians for no apparent reason who were waiting to cross the checkpoint towards Gaza.
Mahmoud Ibrahim Mahmoud al-Qerem, 44, from Khan Yunis, was slightly wounded by shrapnel from a live bullet in the face.
At approximately 10:00, Israeli occupying forces, covered by intense shelling, moved approximately 300m west of a settler road linking between al-Mentar crossing and al-Shuhada’ junction, south of Gaza. They partially destroyed two Palestinian factories:
1. The destroyed parts of a 1500-square-meter factory that produces oxygen, owned by Zuhair Mohammed al-Ghussein. It is the only factory in the Gaza Strip that produces oxygen. Work at the factory has stopped for four months due to the danger posed by fire from Israeli forces in the area. On 20 April, the owner received a notice by Israeli forces that his factory would be demolished, but PCHR was able to obtain a decision by the Israeli Supreme Court to stop the demolition.
2. They destroyed the fence and the gate of a wood factory managed by Samir ‘Omar Kurdia.
At approximately 12:30, Israeli occupying forces moved into the area gain and bulldozed seven greenhouses planted with vegetables, owned by Ghazi Hajji.
At approximately 13:00, Israeli occupying forces in the vicinity of “Morag” settlement, north of Rafah, opened fire at nearby Palestinian farms.
A Palestinian civilian, Rami Mahmoud Madhi, 24, was wounded by shrapnel from a live bullet in the left foot.
At approximately 22:00, Israeli occupying forces in a military location in Tal Zo’rob area in the southwest of Rafah, for no apparent reason, opened fire at Palestinian houses in Tal al-Sultan neighborhood, opposite to the area.

In the afternoon, Israeli occupying forces positioned at the junction of Beit Ummar village, north of Hebron opened fire at a civilian car for no apparent reason, killing Mahmoud Mousa ‘Ali al-Husseini Zahaika, 36, from Jabal al-Mukabber neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem, with several live bullets in the neck and limbs.
In his testimony to LAW, Zhaika’s cousin, who was accompanying him, said:
“Saturday afternoon, 18 May 2002, we were traveling from Jerusalem to Hebron to bring my wife from there. We were traveling in a civilian car that has an Israeli number plate. My cousin was driving the car. When we arrived at an Israeli military roadblock at the junction of Beit Ummar village, we saw cars moving back after Israeli soldiers had not allowed their passage.
We resorted to alternative roads which led us to Beit Ummar village. When we moved to a muddy road leading to Hebron, my cousin asked me to get out of the car to check if it was possible for the car to move on the road.
At approximately 15:30, my cousin was trying to turn the car back after he failed to cross a sand barrier. I saw a number of Israeli soldiers jumping out of a military jeep. They immediately opened fire at the car, which moved forward.
I shouted at them to stop shooting, but they continued to fire at the car for 5-7 minutes. Then, I hurried towards the car, where I found my cousin shot dead by several live bullets in the neck and the limbs. Israeli soldiers fired a sound bomb at me and I fell on my cousin’s body.”
At approximately 02:00, an infantry unit of Israeli occupying forces, reinforced with heavy military vehicles, moved approximately 600m into al-Qarara village, north of Khan Yunis and imposed a curfew. A number of Israeli soldiers took position on the roof of a house owned by Zuhair Ahmed ‘Abdul Qader Sweidan, after they had locked its residents in one room.
Other Israeli soldiers searched houses and damaged them. Israeli forces withdrew from the area at approximately 07:00.
At approximately 14:00, Israeli occupying forces in a military location in Tal Zo’rob area in the southwest of Rafah, opened fire at Palestinian houses in Tal al-Sultan neighborhood, opposite to the area.

Israeli occupying forces at military roadblocks and checkpoints continued to shoot at Palestinian civilians. At approximately 13:00, Israeli occupying forces at a military checkpoint between Western Baqa village inside the Green Line and Eastern Baqa in the West Bank fired at a civilian car after it had crossed the checkpoint upon their order.
Sumaia Mahmoud ‘Abdul Rahman Zeidan, 47, from Yamma village inside the Green Line, who was traveling in the targeted car to her village, was wounded by a live bulllet in the back. Israeli forces prevented her evacuation to hospital by an ambulance, so she was moved to hospital in a civilian car, but she succumbed to her wound.
At approximately 13:30, Palestinian civilians organized a peaceful march that moved towards the northern entrance of al-Bireh, where Israeli occupying forced took position. Soon, Israeli forces fired live ammunition, rubber-coated metal bullets and tear gas at civilians.
Kisra Kamal Yassin, 36, from Ramallah, was wounded by a rubber-coated metal bullet in the left leg.
t approximately 02:00, Israeli occupying forces invaded Jenin and its refugee camp in the northern part of the West Bank and imposed a curfew. They opened fire at houses, wounding two Palestinians:
1. Ra’ed Rezeq Juha, 33, from Gaza, wounded by a live bullet in the right side; and
2. ‘Ezziddin Bassam Ragheb al-Sa’di, from Jenin refugee camp, wounded by shrapnel in the right shoulder.
Israeli forces also set fire to the house of a Hamas Leader, Jamal Abu al-Haija in the refugee camp, and destroyed the market of the city.
At approximately 16:00, after Israeli occupying forces had withdrawn from Jenin and its refugee camp, a landmine exploded in al-Samran quarter in the refugee camp.
A Palestinian civilian, Murad ‘Abdul Hakim Mohammed al-Ghoul, 16, was killed by shrapnel throughout the body. Two other civilians were also wounded:
1. Mohammed ‘Abdul Rahman Jarrar, 16, wounded by shrapnel in the chest, the right hand and the legs; and
2. Sa’ada Mohammed Ahmed Saleh, 15, wounded by shrapnel in the chest, the hands and the feet.
At noon, Israeli tanks and armored personnel carriers moved into the public housing project in the northeast of Nablus. They opened fire at Palestinian houses and civilians who were on their way to mosques for the Friday prayers.
‘Amid Mohammed ‘Abdul Samad Abu Seir, 7, from ‘Askar refugee camp, was killed, and five civilians were wounded:
1. Maher ‘Omar Abu Hawila, 12, wounded by a medium caliber bullet in the abdomen;
2. Mohammed ‘Omar Abu Hawila, 11, wounded by a live bullet in the abdomen;
3. Ya’qoub Mohammed al-Bishtawi, 12, wounded by a live bullet in the neck;
4. Jamal Abu Kamla, 37, wounded by a live bullet in the right hand and shrapnel in the right leg;
5. Mohammed ‘Abdul Samad Abu Seir, 41, wounded by shrapnel in the back and the feet.
In his testimony to the Palestinian Society for the Protection of Human Rights and the Environment (LAW) regarding the death of his son, the child’s father said:
“…at approximately 12:15 on Friday, 17 May 2002, I was about to go to Mas’ab Ben ‘Omeir mosque, approximately 300m away from my house, for the Friday prayers. My 7-year-old son ‘Amid was with me. As soon as we got out of our house, located at ‘Askar road, we heard sounds of tanks and armored vehicles. My son got scared, so we went back home.
We waited for the tanks and armored vehicles to pass. The door of the house was closed. Suddenly, I heard sounds of live bullets. Then, I saw bullets penetrating the door. I hugged my son with my back to the door. I felt that I was wounded by shrapnel in the back and the feet.
Then, ‘Amid cried: ‘Dad! I was wounded.’ I carried him. He was bleeding and then he lost consciousness. I cried for help. Immediately, my nephew came and took ‘Amid in his car to hospital, but he was dead. Doctors told me that he was hit by two live bullets, a heavy caliber bullet in the abdomen and a live bullet in the jaws.”
At approximately 19:00, Israeli occupying forces in a military location in Tal Zo’rob area in the southwest of Rafah in the southern Gaza strip, opened fire at Palestinian houses in Tal al-Sultan neighborhood, opposite to the area.
A Palestinian civilian, Hamdi Mohammed Hassouna, 51, was wounded by a live bullet in the left thigh.
At approximately 22:00, Israeli occupying forces in the vicinity of “Gani Tal” settlement, northwest of Khan Yunis, opened fire at al-Rabwat area and al-‘Aaryshia neighborhood in the north and west of Khan Yunis.
A Palestinian child, Mohammed Zuhair Mohammed al-Saqqa, 14, was wounded by shrapnel from a live bullet in the left shoulder and hand.
At approximately 22:30, Israeli occupying forces in the vicinity of “Neve Dekalim” settlement, west of Khan Yunis, shelled al-Nimsawi neighborhood in the southwest of the town. Two flats in an apartment building of al-Farra Company were damaged.
Israeli occupying forces at military roadblocks and checkpoints continued to shoot at Palestinian civilians. At approximately 13:00, Israeli occupying forces at a military checkpoint between Western Baqa village inside the Green Line and Eastern Baqa in the West Bank fired at a civilian car after it had crossed the checkpoint upon their order.
Sumaia Mahmoud ‘Abdul Rahman Zeidan, 47, from Yamma village inside the Green Line, who was traveling in the targeted car to her village, was wounded by a live bulllet in the back. Israeli forces prevented her evacuation to hospital by an ambulance, so she was moved to hospital in a civilian car, but she succumbed to her wound.
At approximately 13:30, Palestinian civilians organized a peaceful march that moved towards the northern entrance of al-Bireh, where Israeli occupying forced took position. Soon, Israeli forces fired live ammunition, rubber-coated metal bullets and tear gas at civilians.
Kisra Kamal Yassin, 36, from Ramallah, was wounded by a rubber-coated metal bullet in the left leg.
t approximately 02:00, Israeli occupying forces invaded Jenin and its refugee camp in the northern part of the West Bank and imposed a curfew. They opened fire at houses, wounding two Palestinians:
1. Ra’ed Rezeq Juha, 33, from Gaza, wounded by a live bullet in the right side; and
2. ‘Ezziddin Bassam Ragheb al-Sa’di, from Jenin refugee camp, wounded by shrapnel in the right shoulder.
Israeli forces also set fire to the house of a Hamas Leader, Jamal Abu al-Haija in the refugee camp, and destroyed the market of the city.
At approximately 16:00, after Israeli occupying forces had withdrawn from Jenin and its refugee camp, a landmine exploded in al-Samran quarter in the refugee camp.
A Palestinian civilian, Murad ‘Abdul Hakim Mohammed al-Ghoul, 16, was killed by shrapnel throughout the body. Two other civilians were also wounded:
1. Mohammed ‘Abdul Rahman Jarrar, 16, wounded by shrapnel in the chest, the right hand and the legs; and
2. Sa’ada Mohammed Ahmed Saleh, 15, wounded by shrapnel in the chest, the hands and the feet.
At noon, Israeli tanks and armored personnel carriers moved into the public housing project in the northeast of Nablus. They opened fire at Palestinian houses and civilians who were on their way to mosques for the Friday prayers.
‘Amid Mohammed ‘Abdul Samad Abu Seir, 7, from ‘Askar refugee camp, was killed, and five civilians were wounded:
1. Maher ‘Omar Abu Hawila, 12, wounded by a medium caliber bullet in the abdomen;
2. Mohammed ‘Omar Abu Hawila, 11, wounded by a live bullet in the abdomen;
3. Ya’qoub Mohammed al-Bishtawi, 12, wounded by a live bullet in the neck;
4. Jamal Abu Kamla, 37, wounded by a live bullet in the right hand and shrapnel in the right leg;
5. Mohammed ‘Abdul Samad Abu Seir, 41, wounded by shrapnel in the back and the feet.

In the morning, medical sources at Shifa’ Hospital in Gaza announced that 36-year-old Fayza ‘Abdul Jawad Abu Lebda, from Rafah, succumbed to a wound she received last month.
According to PCHR’s investigation, she received burns and injuries on 30 April, when Israeli occupying forces fired an artillery shell at her house in Rafah refugee camp. Fire broke out in her room and she was seriously injured. The victim is the sister of 29-year-old Akram Abu Lebda who was killed by Israeli occupying forces that shelled and moved into Rafah refugee camp on 27 September 2001.
At approximately 05:30, Israeli occupying forces, reinforced with tanks and armored personnel carriers, moved approximately 1km into al-Ersal area in the north of Ramallah, in the West Bank. They arrested two Palestinians.
Also in the morning, Israeli heavy military vehicles thrust approximately 400m into a Palestinian agricultural area east of Gaza City. They razed approximately 20 donums of agricultural land:
1. They razed a 7-donum area of agricultural land planted with olives owned by ‘Aamer Suleiman Helles.
2. They razed an 8-donum area of agricultural land planted with olives owned by ‘Abdul Raziq Habib.
3. They razed a 5.5-donum area of agricultural land planted with olives owned by Sha’ban Ibrahim Khalil Quta.
Israeli occupying forces in military locations east of the affected area fire at the area everyday. Last week, they shot dead a Palestinian child and wounded two others (for more details, see PCHR’s last Weekly Report).
At approximately 20:30, Israeli occupying forces in the vicinity of “Neve Dekalim” settlement, west of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza strip, shelled al-Nimsawi neighborhood in the southwest of the town. Four flats in an apartment building of al-Farra Company were damaged:
1. An artillery shell hit the kitchen of a 150-square-meter flat, in which 4 people live, owned by ‘Abdul Hadi Mohammed Shahin.
2. Windows and walls of a 120-square-meter flat, in which 10 people live, owned by ‘Essam Mahmoud Fayadh, were damaged.
3. Windows and walls of a 120-square-meter flat, in which 4 people live, owned by Jamal Hashem Shublaq, were damaged.
4. Windows and furniture of a 120-square-meter flat, in which 6 people live, owned by Maher Rajab al-Ghamri, were damaged.
New Assassination
In a continuation of the policy of assassination officially adopted by the Israeli government against political and field activists of the Intifada, on Thursday morning, Israeli occupation forces killed a Palestinian young man.
According to investigation carried out by LAW, at approximately 04:00, special units of Israeli occupying forces, reinforced with dozens of armored personnel carriers and military jeeps, moved into Um al-Sharayet neighborhood in Ramallah. They surrounded al-Rabi’ building and broke into a flat on the second floor.
Soon, they shot dead Mohammed Taha Ahmed Ghannam, 21, with three live bullets in the chest and the right leg. Then, they threw his body onto the street. They also arrested two unidentified young men and withdrew from the area at approximately 05:50.
Ghannam’s body was taken to Ramallah Hospital. According to medical sources, Israeli forces used sharp tools to distort his body, as there were injuries in the upper part of the body, and that he was shot from a close distance. Ghannam was a member of the Palestinian Preventive Security Service wanted by Israeli occupying forces.

At approximately 01:00, Israeli occupation forces, reinforced with heavy military vehicles, moved approximately 500m into Gizan al-Najjar area in the south of Khan Yunis. They raided four houses of the Abu Nemer family and forced their residents out. They searched these houses and arrested 45-year-old Kamel Salem ‘Atteya Abu Nemer, a policeman.
At approximately 04:00, Israeli occupation forces moved approximately 200m into al-Salam neighborhood adjacent to the Egyptian border, south of Rafah. They demolished three Palestinian houses with their contents inside.
Israeli forces demolished two fences of two tracts of land owned by the family of Abu Jazar and damaged three other houses.
They also attacked a pregnant woman, Salwa Nafe’ Abu Teilakh, 32, leading to the death of the foetus.
At approximately 22:00, two Israeli helicopter gunships opened fire at al-Nimsawi neighborhood in the west of Khan Yunis. Israeli military locations in the vicinity of “Neve Dekalim” settlement shelled the neighborhood.
A Palestinian civilian, ‘Abdul Ra’ouf ‘Atta ‘Ayoush, 30, was wounded by a live bullet in the left foot while he was near his house. Some houses were also damaged and civilians, including children, were terrified.
At approximately 09:00, Israeli occupation forces at Tal al-Sultan checkpoint, west of Rafah in the southern Gaza strip, opened fire at some Palestinian civilians who were on their way to their homes in al-Mawasi area in Rafah. Three women were wounded:
1. Fatema ‘Oudeh ‘Eid Shalluf, 35, wounded by a live bullet in the right arm;
2. Farida Hubeish Ghayadh Shalluf, 35, wounded by shrapnel from a live bullet in the neck; and

At approximately 04:00, Israeli heavy military vehicles under cover of intense shelling moved approximately 300m into al-Salam neighborhood adjacent to the Egyptian border, south of Rafah. During this incursion, which continued until 07:00, Israeli forces demolished one house and partially destroyed two others.
Israeli forces detained residents of the third house in one room and stole a mobile phone. They also uprooted 14 trees surrounding the house. In addition, two Palestinian civilians were wounded by Israeli shelling:
1. Khaled Ibrahim Barbakh, 20, wounded by shrapnel in the ear; and
2. Mohammed Khalil Abu Taha, 18, wounded by shrapnel in the left shoulder.
Electricity was cut from most of Rafah after an electricity transmitter was hit by Israeli shelling.
At approximately 22:00, Israeli occupation forces razed a 60-donum area of Palestinian agricultural land owned by the heirs of Ibrahim Mohammed Ibrahim Zo’rob in al-Mawasi area in Rafah. They uprooted 300 olive trees and demolished a 50-square meter resort and two water pumps.
At approximately 22:30, Israeli occupation forces in the vicinity of “Neve Dekalim” settlement, west of Khan Yunis, shelled Palestinian houses in al-Nimsawi neighborhood, east of the settlement.
A Palestinian woman, Raghda ‘Abdul Muttaleb Budeir, 25, was wounded by shrapnel in the left ear while sleeping when an artillery shell hit her house. Another artillery shell hit the house of Suheil al-Maqadma, damaging the roof.
A New Assassination
In a continuation of the policy of assassination formally adopted by the Israeli government against political and field activists of the Intifada, on Tuesday morning, Israeli occupation forces killed two PNA security officers:
1. Lieutenant Colonel Khaled Abu al-Khairan, 38, from al-Fawar refugee camp, head of the PNA General Intelligence Service in Halhoul; and
2. Lieutenant Ahmed ‘Abdul ‘Azziz Zama’ra, 26, from Halhoul, a member of the General Intelligence Service.
According to investigation carried out by the Palestinian Society for the Protection of Human Rights and the Environment (LAW), at approximately 01:00, a special unit of Israeli occupation forces moved into Zbboud neighborhood in the northwest of Halhoul in the West Bank. They besieged the neighborhood and took up position around offices of the Palestinian General Intelligence Service.
Abu al-Khairan and Zama’ra attempted to escape in their cars, but Israeli forces opened fire at them from close range, wounding them. Israeli forces took the two out of the car; one of them was dead while the other was still alive.
Soon, Israeli soldiers severely beat him for approximately 30 minutes until he died. Then, Israeli forces withdrew from the area.
Israeli forces had earlier moved into Halhoul in February 2002, when combat helicopters had shelled Zama’ra’s house. Then, Israeli forces demolished the house after having searched for him without success.

At approximately 18:30, medical sources at Shifa’ Hospital in Gaza City announced that 15-year-old Salem Sami Salem al-Sha’er, from Rafah, succumbed to a wound he received on 7 May.
Al-Sha’er had been wounded with a live bullet in the back and his brother Jamal, 17, was killed by Israeli occupation forces when they moved into al-Saha’er neighborhood adjacent to the Egyptian border, south of Rafah.

In the afternoon, Israeli occupation forces moved approximately 400m into al-Qutbania area in the east of Beit Hanoun, in the northern Gaza strip. They razed areas of Palestinian agricultural land:
1. They razed a 6-donum area of agricultural land planted with citrus owned by Mohammed Mohammed Mahoud al-Masri and sons.

A Palestinian farmer, Mohammed Isma’il Abu Jarad, 52, from Beit Hanoun, was wounded by a live bullet in the right shoulder.
In an apparent willful killing, Israeli occupation forces killed a Palestinian young man after having arrested him.
According to investigation carried out by LAW, at approximately 10:30, Mohammed ‘Omar Mohammed Makhtoub, 21, from al-Qebya village, northwest of occupied Jerusalem, was traveling in a taxi to Jerusalem to visit his fiancé.
When the taxi arrived at an Israeli military roadblock near Jaba’ village, Israeli occupation forces stopped it. While Israeli soldiers were searching the taxi, a verbal quarrel occurred between Makhtoub and an Israeli soldier. Then, the Israeli soldiers asked him to get out of the car, but he refused. The Israeli soldier forcibly pulled him out of the car and put him in a military jeep.
At approximately 18:00, Makhtoub’s family looked for him in hospitals and police stations. When they phoned an Israeli police station in “Gevat Ze’ev” settlement, they were informed that their son was found dead in the afternoon on a road between two Israeli military roadblocks. On Sunday afternoon, 12 May, the family received the body of their son from the Israeli Abu Kabir forensic institute. They noticed signs of beating on his head. The family did not receive the autopsy report.
At approximately 13:30, Palestinian civilians in the West Bank cities of Ramallah and al-Bireh organized a peaceful march towards the northern entrance of al-Bireh.
Israeli occupation at the entrance fired live ammunition, rubber-coated metal bullets and tear gas canisters at the demonstrators, wounding Mohammed Jamal ‘Abdul Jawad, 19, from al-Jalazoun refugee camp, with a rubber-coated metal bullet in the left leg.
In an apparent willful killing, Israeli occupation forces killed a Palestinian child and left him to bleed to death. According to PCHR’s investigation and eyewitnesses testimonies, at approximately 16:00, four Palestinian children were playing on agricultural land, approximately 500m away from the eastern border of the Gaza Strip, east of Gaza City.
Suddenly, an Israeli tank and a military jeep moved to the west. When they were approximately 200m away from the children, Israeli soldiers fired at the children for no apparent reason. The four children attempted to escape; three were wounded while the fourth child was able to escape. Palestinian civilians and ambulances were able to evacuate two of the wounded to hospital:
1. Ahmed Fares Salem Sukkar, 11, wounded by a live bullet in the left leg; and
2. Ahmed Jihad Mahmoud al-Hilu, 14, wounded by a live bullet in the abdomen.
The two children told medical personnel that there was a third child, ‘Ezziddin Talal Mahmoud al-Hilu, 17, who was wounded, so an ambulance went to the area to search for him.
As soon as the ambulance arrived at the area, it was fired at by Israeli forces. Another ambulance moved to the area again and searched for the child until the evening. The child was not found. On the following day, an ambulance moved to the area at noon and discovered the body of the child, approximately 300m away from the border.
The body was evacuated to Shifa’ Hospital where medical sources stated that the child was hit by a live bullet that entered the left hip and settled in the abdomen and that his wound was not lethal. The abdomen had suffered a hemorrhage.
The Israeli daily Yediot Aaharanot on its Arabic web page quoted an Israeli military spokesman as saying that “Israeli soldiers fired warning bullets in the air, but the children continued moving towards them, so they fired at the children fearing for their lives.” The fact that the body of the child was found 300m away from the border, and that he received a live bullet from the back, however, indicate that he was attempting to escape rather than move forward.
At approximately 02:30, Israeli occupation forces moved into the western part of Hebron. They surrounded an apartment building in Dweirban neighborhood and expelled its residents. For three hours, Israeli forces shelled the building, severely damaging it.
Fire broke out in six flats, totally destroying their contents. In addition, 120 tons of cloth were damaged. Israeli forces denied the access of fire engines to the building until 11:00.
At approximately 17:00, Israeli occupation forces invaded Tulkarm and imposed a curfew on its eastern section.
Half an hour later, they surrounded a three-story apartment building owned by ‘Abdul Hakim Dhiab, in which the family of ‘Abdul Basset ‘Oudeh, who killed himself in a suicide operation inside Israel, used to live. They expelled residents and totally demolished the building.
On Friday, Israeli occupation forces deported 13 Palestinians who had been trapped in the Church in a British military plane to Cyprus until other European countries agree to receive them. The 13 men are:

At approximately 01:00, nine heavy Israeli military vehicles moved approximately 100m into al-Sha’er neighborhood, adjacent to the Egyptian border south of Rafah. They immediately opened fire at Palestinian houses. Residents of these houses rushed out searching for more secure places.
A Palestinian civilian, Jamal Sami Salem al-Sha’er, 17, was wounded by a live bullet in the neck while trying to mount the roof of his neighbor’s house.
Soon, his brother Salem, 15, moved towards him to offer him help, but Israeli forces also fired at him wounding him with a live bullet in the back.
The two brothers bled for more than an hour as ambulances were not able to reach them due to intense Israeli gunfire. The two brothers were then evacuated to hospital, but one, Jamal, was dead and the other one was in serious condition. During the incursion that continued until 07:30, Israeli occupation forces partially demolished three houses and a factory:
1. They demolished a bedroom, a bathroom and a pillar of a 200-square-meter house, in which 12 persons live, owned by Sami Salem Mallahi al-Sha’er, father of the aforementioned victims.

In an apparent willful killing, Israeli occupation forces killed a Palestinian woman and her two children in Qabatya village in the Jenin district.
According to investigation carried out by the Palestinian Society for the Protection of Human Rights and the Environment (LAW), at approximately 11:00, Fatema Ibrahim Turkman Zakarna, 30, and her two children Bassel and ‘Abir Mohammed Yousef Zakarna, 4 and 3 respectively, were on a tract of land owned by the family, approximately 3500m east of Qabatya village, cultivating grape leaves.
Meanwhile, a tanks and an armored personnel carrier of Israeli occupation forces was passing on a bypass road coming from the north towards an Israeli military location known as “Bezeq.” Israeli occupation forces opened fire on the mother and her children. ‘Abir was wounded by a heavy caliber bullet that cut her right leg.

At approximately 13:00, Israeli occupation forces razed areas of Palestinian agricultural land north of the road leading to the “Gush Qatif” settlement block, south of Dir al-Balah:
1. They razed a 20-donum area of agricultural land planted with guavas owned by Mohammed ‘Abdul Rahman al-Bashiti.
2. They razed a 20-donum area of agricultural land planted with guavas owned by ‘Abdul Qader Nazhir Abu Houli.
At approximately 15:00, Israeli occupation forces at the Egyptian border, south of Rafah, shelled al-Brazil neighborhood and Block J in Rafah refugee camp. Two Palestinian children were wounded:
1. Mohammed Rebhi al-Sayed, 16, wounded by a live bullet in the right leg; and
2. Mohammed Khaled ‘Aashour, 11, wounded by shrapnel in the face.
At approximately 23:00, medical sources at the European Hospital in Khan Yunis announced that 55-year-old Hassan Hussein Abu Jazar, from Rafah, succumbed to a wound she received on Wednesday, 1 May, when Israeli occupation forces shelled and encroached into Rafah refugee camp.
In the evening, an Israeli tank positioned near UNRWA schools on Tulkarm-Nablus road fired artillery shells and live bullets at a number of Palestinian children who were near their houses in Tulkarm refugee camp.
A Palestinian child, Tamer Khaled Abu Sirreya, 8, was killed by a live bullet in the chest, and two other children were wounded:
1. ‘Adnan Sari Mohammed Hussein, 16, wounded by shrapnel in the back; and
2. Shadi Khaled Tayeh ‘Anbar, 13, wounded by shrapnel in the eyes.
In an apparent willful killing, Israeli occupation forces killed a Palestinian woman and her two children in Qabatya village in the Jenin district.
