Three Palestinian fishermen were gunned down by Israeli occupation forces (IOF) north of the Gaza Strip at dawn Thursday, medical sources reported.
Adham Abu Salmiya, the spokesman for medical services, said that the IOF troops opened fire at the three young men north of Beit Lahia killing them instantly.
He identified the three martyrs as Jihad Khalaf, 21, Ashraf Ektifan, 29, and Talat Al-Rawagh, 25.
Locals said that they heard the sound of intensified firing north of Beit Lahia during which Israeli choppers and gunboats indiscriminately shelled the area.

Gaza's health ministry said those killed were Palestinian fishermen working with their nets on the shore
Three killed as they worked on the shore, but Israeli army says they were trying to plant bomb near security fence.
Israeli soldiers have killed three Palestinian fishermen along the Gaza-Israeli border, Palestinian medics have said.
Gaza's ministry of health said on Thursday that the men were killed overnight in the north of Gaza, near Beit Lahiya, while they were working with their nets on the shore.
The medics said that the victims were shot by Israeli forces before dawn.
But the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) in a statement said the men were "militants".
"Overnight, an IDF force identified a number of Palestinian militants approaching the security fence in the northern Gaza Strip, in an attempt to plant explosive devices.
"Thwarting the attempt, the force fired at the militants, hitting three of them," the statement said.
Residents said they had heard gunfire in the area.
Adham Abu Selmiya, a spokesman for the Hamas-run emergency services, told AFP news agency that the men died after being hit by a tank shell and machine gun fire in an area called Al-Waha which lies close to both the shore and the northern border with Israel.
Abu Selmiya identified the men as Jihad Khalaf, 20, Talaat al-Awagh, 25 and Ashraf al-Kteifan, 29.
Increased tensions
Israel often carries out strikes against Hamas-ruled Gaza.
Increased tensions over the Gaza border have raised concerns about a new Israeli invasion of the coastal enclave like the devastating 22-day offensive which began at the end of December 2008.
Fourteen hundred Palestinians were killed in the operation, more than half of them civilians. Thirteen Israelis, 10 of them soldiers, also died.

Arab MK calls on police to release murder victim's body to family
Arab MK Jamal Zahalka called on the Israeli police to release the body of Hossam al-Rawaidi to his family to be buried alongside their deceased in Jerusalem.
Israeli authorities not only persecute the living in Jerusalem, but also persecute the dead, he said in a letter to the Ministry of Homeland Security on Tuesday.
What right do Israeli forces have to impose the burial site of the deceased? Burial according to all races and religions is the right of the family and no one has the right to impose on them a place they don't want or deny them burial at the site it deems.
DIt is unreasonable that the body remains without being buried for six days. This is a crime over the crime of murder committed by extremist Jews in Jerusalem.
Rawaidi was brutally murdered last Thursday when a band of Jewish settlers intercepted him on his way home from work and proceeded to use abusive language against him and another man. One of the assailants used a Japanese sword in a deep laceration to Ruwaidi's ear that stretched to his neck killing him. The second victim was assaulted after trying to block the attack.
Police have placed tough conditions before releasing the Ruwaidi's body to his family, denying permission for his burial before 10:00pm and with the help of more than ten people. They later became more stringent and ordered that he be buried outside of Jerusalem claiming a Jerusalem burial would lead to clashes.
The Ruwaidi's have refused to bury him outside of Jerusalem and insist on receiving his body to be buried in the holy city and prayed over in the Aqsa Mosque.

Israeli authorities told the family of murder
victim Husam Rweidi that his body would not be returned unless they
agreed to a set of conditions, relatives said.
Husam Rweidi, 24, was stabbed to death Friday by a mob of Ultra-Orthodox Jews in Jerusalem's city center.
The victim's cousin Firas Baydoun told Maan Israeli authorities stipulated that his burial must take place at midnight, and that a maximum of 10 mourners could attend the funeral.
Baydoun, who works at the Al-Ayyam newspaper, said Rweidi's body is being kept in the mortuary of Israel's Greenberg National Institute of Forensic Medicine in Tel Aviv.
An Israeli central commander said the family could not take Rweidi's body to the Al-Aqsa Mosque for funeral prayers and Islamic rituals, Baydoun said.
"The body must be carried to the Al-Rahma cemetery directly," the commander told the family.
Rweidi's father refused the demands, and the Israeli commander eventually agreed that the funeral could be held at 8 p.m. But the commander insisted the body must not be taken to the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The family is considering taking on legal council to challenge the conditions, and to ensure Rweidi is given a decent funeral, Baydoun said.

Jerusalem: Arab killed in brawl with Jews
Jerusalem: Arab killed in brawl with Jews

Hussam Rawidi 24
Early morning fight in city center claims life of 24-year-old man from east Jerusalem village of Akab. Police say some of people involved in incident were intoxicated; two arrested.
A 24-year-old man from the east Jerusalem village of Akab was killed early Friday in a brawl between a group of Jews and a group of Arabson Hillel Street in Jerusalem's city center.
According to the police, some of the people involved in the fight were intoxicated. Two of them were arrested.
Two people were seriously and light injured in the incident. The victim was evacuated by a Magen David Adom crew to the Shaare Zedek Medical Center, where he died of his wounds shortly afterwards. His body was transferred to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute.
Zabi Sofer, a volunteer in the Ichud Hatzalah organization, was one of the first to arrive at the scene. "We found a young man sitting on a chair, bleeding from his neck intensively. We stopped the bleeding and waited for a Magen David Adom ambulance. He was still conscious and spoke to us, and even said he wasn't feeling well.
According to Sofer, the injured man's condition quickly deteriorated. "His friend, who tried to help him until we arrived, was suffering from superficial wounds in the neck as well, but luckily they weren't too deep," he said.
'Arabs harassing Jewish girls'
The circumstances of the incident are still unclear, but members of the right-wing Lehava organization were not surprised. "The situation in Jerusalem is toxic," a group official said.
The organization, which aims to "prevent assimilation in the Holy Land, claimed that "Arabs are harassing and ruining the reputation of Jewish girls from nationalistic motives, and under these circumstances it's no surprise that there are Jewish youths who are not ready to practice restraint and turn a blind eye to the situation."
The police were on high alert across the capital on Friday morning for fear of disturbances due to the popular uprising in Egypt. Forces were deployed around the Temple Mount and in the Old City alleys ahead of the Friday prayers.
A similar incident took place in Jerusalem's city center in August 2010, when Lance Wolf, a 60-year-old American Jew, was beaten to death by two teens due to his refusal to give them a cigarette.
Wolf lost his consciousness and lay bleeding while passersby did nothing, and rescue forces were alerted only after 50 minutes had gone by. He then taken by paramedics to Hadassah Ein Kerem, where he eventually died of his wounds.

Beit Ommar Youth Killed by Israeli Settlers

Yousef Fakhri Ikhlayl, 17
Update: Late Friday night, Yousef Ikhlayl succumbed to his injuries. His funeral is being held in Beit Ommar Saturday, January 29, 2011.
For Immediate Release:
Friday, January 28th 2011, 9am: Around 100 settlers from Bat Ayn settlement descended upon the Palestinian villages of Saffa and nearby Beit Ommar in the southern West Bank, shooting 17-year-old Yousef Fakhri Ikhlayl in his head, leaving him critically injured. Doctors have announced that Yousef is currently brain-dead in a Hebron hospital.
Settlers also shot 16-year-old Bilal Mohammad Abed Al-Qador with live ammunition in his arm.
The large group of armed settlers began shooting towards Palestinian homes in Saffa at around 9am, leaving Bilal injured. At the same time, a second group of settlers attacked an area of Beit Ommar called Jodor. Yousef was shot in the head in this area while he was standing in grapes vines he had planted on his family’s land.
Dozens of Palestinians from Beit Ommar and the nearby village of Surif began coming to the area to defend their communities. Seven jeeps of Israeli Forces also arrived in the area and escorted the settlers back to Bat Ayn.
This is the second settler attack with live ammunition on Palestinians in as many days. On January 27th, Uday Maher Qadous was shot and killed in Iraq Burin, in the Nablus district, by armed settlers as he was working his land.
Yousef Fahkri Ikhlayl is from the village of Beit Ommar and has worked on initiatives with the Palestine Solidarity Project, an ant-occupation organization in Beit Ommar. In the summer of 2010, Yousef attended the Center for Freedom and Justice’s Freedom Flotilla Summer Camp where he engaged in educational projects, community service, and unarmed demonstrations against the Israeli occupation. In the fall of 2010 Yousef was a participant in a youth photography class also sponsored by the center.
“Yousef was a kid who hoped for a better future for Palestine. His life was ended prematurely by right-wing extremists. People around the world should be outraged by his shooting, and should work to bring his attackers to justice. “
-Bekah Wolf, American citizen who worked with Yousef in the Center for Freedom and Justice
Settlers from Bat Ayn routinely attack and harass Palestinians in the Beit Ommar area. In January 27th, 2011 settlers in the area destroyed several hundred olive trees belonging to Palestinian farmers.
Medics: Settlers shoot teen in head near Hebron
Two Palestinians were injured Thursday, by a group of religious Jews locals described as settlers from a nearby area. One man was beaten and the second shot, and said to be "clinically dead."
The shooting is the second in as many days.
Spokesman for the village Mohammad Awad said that more than 150 settlers from Bat Ayin had descended from the illegal hilltop community and entered the village of Safa early in the morning.
Clashes were reported between the settlers and the villagers, who told Awad that the armed religious Jews were using live fire against the residents.
After the start of clashes Israeli forces arrived on the scene and evacuated the settlers from the area, Awad said.
According to Israeli daily newspaper Haaretz, settlers said they were fired on near the village, and that others came to the aid of the initial victims.
Israeli police confirmed an incident involving Palestinians and a group of Israelis near the village of Beit Ummar, north of Hebron.
"Near the village of Beit Umar, we received a report of an incident that took place there between a group of Palestinians and Israelis," police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said.
"Apparently shots were fired as a result of the incident. One Palestinian teenager has been taken to the hospital in serious condition and the situation is continuing to be investigated."
Police and the Israeli military confirmed that they had deployed large numbers of forces to the scene.
Sources in Hebron's Al-Ahli Hospital identified those injured as Yousef Fakhri Mousa Ikhleil, 17, said to be on life support after doctors treated him for gunshot wounds to the head.
Murad Ikhliel, 23, was said to have sustained multiple bone fractures to his hand.
The incident comes the day after a farmer was shot and killed by settlers in the northern West Bank.
On Thursday, 19-year-old Uday Maher Qadous was shot and killed while he was working his land near the northern West Bank village of Iraq Burin alongside his cousin.
Just before one o'clock, workers from the Palestinian rights group Al-Haq recorded, Uday noticed that some of his sheep had gone missing and went to look for them in the fields nearby, and walked toward the Bracha settlement.
At one in the afternoon Uday's cousin Umar told Al-Haq that he heard a gunshot, and went to investigate. He said he waked in the same direction as his cousin, and said he saw Uday lying on the ground surrounded by four settlers holding pistols. He said he feared for his own life and hid nearby for at least half an hour before the settlers left.
When the armed settlers returned to the settlement, Umar told the rights group, he went up to Uday's body and found him non-responsive. He said he tried to carry the body for a while, but then decided to run to the nearby village and ask for help. A horse was brought to the scene and Uday's body was transported to hospital, where he was declared dead.
Al-Haq said that a preliminary medical examination showed that Uday was killed by a bullet that entered from the top left-hand side of his chest and went through diagonally to the lower right-hand side of his chest, remaining in the body, causing severe internal bleeding and bone damage.
Head of medicine at Rafidiyah Hospital, Ziyad Al-Ashhab, said he had ordered an autopsy performed, which found that a bullet fired from point blank range entered the chest of Qadous, ripping through his lung tissue and causing severe internal bleeding.
He said the results were handed over to Nablus general attorney Baha Ahmad.

Qadous, a farmer from the northern West Bank village of Iraq Burin, was shot by men his cousin identified as Israeli settlers from the Bracha settlement on Thursday.
Head of medicine at the hospital Ziyad Al-Ashhab had ordered an autopsy performed, and said he handed the results over to Nablus general attorney Baha'Ahmad.

Israeli tank kills, wounds Palestinians

Ahmad Na’im Abu Wadi
Israeli tank fire has reportedly claimed the lives of one Palestinian and inflicted injuries on three others in the north of the Gaza Strip.
The Saturday attack took place in the Gaza City, a Press TV correspondent reported.
Palestinian medics said the victim was killed while searching for construction material. Israel's Army, however, claimed it had received no reports of any shootings in the area.
Palestinians scavenge through the remnants of former Israeli settlements for collectable materials. The measure serves as a coping strategy against a crippling blockade Israel has been imposing on Gaza since mid-June 2007.
Tel Aviv has enforced a so-called buffer zone close to the coastal sliver's border, regularly targeting the rubble collectors who approach the area.
Last year, the shootings killed scores of Palestinians, many of them children.
Highlighting the attacks, an August study by the United Nations showed, "Palestinians have been totally or partially prevented from accessing land located up to 1,000-1,500 meters" from the border.
The Saturday strike was just two days after the Israeli forces shot dead a Palestinian and abducted 11 others in the occupied West Bank.
The Tel Aviv-sanctioned attacks against the Palestinians take place on a regular basis and the ones targeting Gaza have increased over the recent months.
