The Arab League on Thursday will hold an emergency meeting at the level of foreign ministers to counter the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people.
The meeting, which will be held upon the request of Saudi Arabia, currently chairs the Arab summit, will also discuss means to confront the illegal decision of the US administration to move its embassy to the occupied holy city of Jerusalem.
Hossam Zaki, the League's deputy secretary general, said the meeting would contain "the strongest political positions... in support of the Palestinian resistance and against the American decision" to recognise the disputed city of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
Israel has come under international pressure after its border forces on Monday killed some 60 Palestinians protesting against the transfer the same day of the US embassy to Jerusalem.
More than 100 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli snipers in seven weeks of protests calling for the right of return.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that his country deplores and is gravely concerned by the violence in the Gaza Strip that has led to a tragic loss of life and injured countless people.
In a press statement on Thursday, Trudeau said “We are appalled that Dr. Tarek Loubani, a Canadian citizen, is among the wounded, along with so many unarmed people, including civilians, members of the media, and children."
"We are doing everything we can to assist Dr. Loubani and his family, and to determine how a Canadian citizen came to be injured. We are engaging with Israeli officials to get to the bottom of these events”, he added.
Trudeau demanded Israel's leaders explain how a London, Ont. doctor tending to injured protesters was caught in the crossfire, while throwing his support behind calls for an independent investigation.

Over 1,000 children have been injured by Israeli forces in the besieged Gaza Strip during demonstrations since March 30, according to the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF).
The UN body pointed out that some injuries had been severe and potentially life-altering, including amputations.
"Recent violence has exacerbated the already weak health system in the Gaza Strip, which is crumbling because of the severe power cuts and shortages of fuel, medicine and equipment," UNICEF said in a statement.
"Medical facilities are buckling under the strain of additional casualties," it further warned.
On Wednesday, UNICEF and its partners delivered two truck-loads of urgent medical supplies to the Gaza Strip for an estimated 70,000 people.

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS) Thursday declared intention to file a legal case against Israel at the International Criminal Court (ICC) and other European courts.
The syndicate decided to form a committee in charge of preparing and collecting documents that prove Israeli crimes committed against Palestinian journalists in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
The killing of two journalists and the injury of 90 others in Gaza will be on the top files to be submitted by the committee, the syndicate added.
The International Journalists Federation (IFJ) declared its total support to the Palestinian syndicate’s decision to expose the violations and crimes committed against Palestinian journalists.
In 2018, Israeli armed forces killed journalists Yasser Murtaja and Ahmad Abu Hussein while covering the protests in the Gaza Strip and wounded 90 others since the beginning of this year.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), in a statement on Wednesday, said that despite the attempt to hinder the magnitude of the diplomatic, political, and moral crisis facing the United States and Israel, after the declaration of President Donald Trump on Jerusalem, the transfer of the Embassy of his country to it, and Washington’s unlimited support to the occupation and its crimes and serious violations of international law, international legitimacy, and resolutions, the international community declared firm positions against Trump’s Declaration and the occupation’s crimes practiced against defenseless people, especially the massacre committed by the occupation soldiers against the unarmed participants in the Right of Return marches in the Gaza Strip, which reflected an international consensus on the justice of the Palestinian cause, the rejection of Trump’s Declaration, the transfer of the embassy, and the condemnations and criticism of the occupation authorities practices and violations ,which is evident in the speeches and positions of 14 countries in the Security Council, accusing the Security Council’s position regarding the US veto.
“This is in addition to the practical diplomatic steps taken by many countries in the world to express their stances, as some of them withdrew their ambassadors and others chose to summon their ambassadors from the occupying state, furthermore, several countries publicly demanded the formation of a fair and transparent commission of inquiry for the crimes of occupation, and the statements of condemnations issued in the name of senior officials in many countries,” MOFA added, according to the PNN.
The Ministry said that it highly appreciates and thanks all states that stood by the Palestinian people at this critical and delicate stage, as it affirms that this international consensus would not have been possible without the great efforts of President Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian diplomacy.
The entire world is united in condemning the crimes of the occupation. The entire world, in its rejection of Trump’s Declaration and the transfer of the embassy, stated that they stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people and with the martyrs and wounded Palestinians who have fallen, in clear reference to the failure of the efforts of the United States, Israel, and their allies to exclude the Palestinian conflict from the center of international attention and the permanent agenda of the international community, it added.

Since petition filed, Israeli troops have continued to kill Palestinians with live ammunition, including 59 people – seven of whom were children – on 14 May alone.
Adalah – The Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel and Al-Mezan Centre for Human Rights submitted yesterday, 16 May 2018, a motion to the Israeli Supreme Court [PDF] demanding that it issue an immediate final decision on the organizations’ joint petition against the Israeli military’s use of live ammunition and sniper fire on unarmed civilian protesters in Gaza.
In addition, Adalah and Al Mezan are releasing today a briefing paper that takes an in-depth look at the petition challenging the Israeli military’s use of lethal force against Gaza protesters, as well as the State of Israel’s response, and our critique and arguments against the State’s positions.
Adalah and Al Mezan argued in the motion that, since filing the petition, an excessive amount of time has passed, during which a large number of Palestinian unarmed protesters have been killed and wounded in Gaza demonstrations.
Every week, the Israeli military has responded to the protests near the Gaza fence with lethal and other excessive force, which has resulted to date in the killing of 86 protesters, including 12 children, two journalists, and the injury of approximately 11,000.
In the single bloodiest day of the seven weeks, 14 May 2018, the Israeli military killed 59 Palestinians, including 43 protesters during demonstrations, of whom seven were children and one a person with disability. At least another 2,771 persons were injured, including 225 children, 12 journalists, and 17 paramedics—1,359 of whom by live ammunition.
The Israeli military’s open-fire policy is illegal. The military informed the Supreme Court that it shoots people in Gaza who are allegedly “leading inciters or breachers of order”; they did not claim that the people shot were armed or that they posed an immediate threat to the lives of others.
This is a violation of international law, amounting to willful killing and injury, and constituting war crimes under Article 8 of the Rome Statute.
Adalah and Al Mezan demand the Israeli Supreme Court issue an immediate ruling that the Israeli military’s open-fire policy in Gaza is illegal.

Egypt's al-Azhar Mosque on Tuesday evening announced that it will send an urgent aid convoy to the Gaza Strip after 62 Palestinians were killed and over 3,000 injured in an Israeli massacre near Gaza's eastern border.
The convoy includes about 50 tons of food and humanitarian aid in addition to two vehicles loaded with medical supplies especially those needed for surgeries and emergency cases.
Al-Azhar al-Sharif issued a statement Monday condemning the heinous crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
Al-Azhar said in its statement that the Israeli forces deliberately targeted unarmed demonstrators while they were marching peacefully on the 70th anniversary of the Nakba killing dozens and injuring hundreds.
Al-Azhar Observer for Combating Terrorism condemned the US embassy transfer to Occupied Jerusalem, saying that what Washington did is an aggression on the rights of the Palestinian people.
Al-Azhar Observer said that relocating the US embassy is a kind of political extremism and a violation of international conventions that undermines any possible peace process in the region and paves the way for more violence and instability.
At least 62 Palestinians were killed and about 3,188 injured in Gaza on Monday after the Israeli occupation forces targeted the civilians protesting in the eastern border areas with live ammunition, rubber-coated metal bullets and teargas canisters.
Palestinians marched in Gaza on Monday mainly in protest at the US embassy transfer to Jerusalem in accordance with a decision issued by the US president Donald Trump on 6th December 2017.
Trump's decision has stirred widespread Palestinian and international resentment. The Palestinian Authority, for example, decided to freeze its political relations with the US administration, while the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution rejecting attempts to alter the legal status of Occupied Jerusalem.

Hollywood actor Benicio del Toro joined Palestinians at the Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday in a demonstration against the Israeli army’s killing of Palestinian civilians on the Gaza border.
At least sixty people were killed on Monday by Israeli gunfire or tear gas, in what has been universally condemned as a massacre against protesters on the day the United States opened its embassy in Occupied Jerusalem.
In Cannes, southern France, dozens of people stood in a circle and held hands outside the Palestinian pavilion.
“It’s really crazy to be here with the films, with the filmmakers, talking about our future plans while our kids and families are suffering from the Israeli attack on them,” said Palestinian film producer and director, May Odeh.
It is the first year that the Palestinians have their own pavilion at the Cannes festival, where many countries have a presence to promote their movie industries.

Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) on Wednesday said that the Israeli occupation forces' actions against unarmed protesters in Gaza are a "war crime" and a "crime against humanity".
ISESCO in a press statement strongly condemned the killing and injuring of dozens of peaceful protesters taking part in the Great Return March along Gaza's eastern border fence.
It called on the international community to stop these crimes, protect the Palestinian people and enable them to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

In response to Israel’s horrific massacre of dozens of unarmed Palestinians, and wounding of thousands, in Gaza, the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) has organised a series of protests around Ireland to take place today. Protests are expected to continue in Gaza, and casualties are expected to mount.
There will be protests today Tuesday 15th May in Dublin (6pm The Spire), Belfast (6pm, International Peace Wall), Derry (8pm, Free Derry Corner), Galway (6pm Eyre Sqaure), Limerick (6.30pm, Thomas Street), Omagh (1pm, Market Street) and Waterford (6pm, Clock Tower).
IPSC National Chairperson Fatin Al Tamimi said: “The IPSC condemns this latest massacre of unarmed Palestinians by Israeli occupation forces. This is the single deadliest day for Palestinians in the occupied territories in four years. The ‘Great March of Return’ protests come on the 70th Anniversary of the Nakba – the expulsion of over 750,000 Palestinians, two thirds of the indigenous Arab population, from their homes by Israeli forces between 1947 and 1949. In the face of seven decades of consistent failure by the international community to enforce their inalienable rights, Palestinian civil society has taken it upon itself to enact their UN mandated Right of Return. In doing this, unarmed protestors are being met with Israeli snipers’ bullets. Over 100 unarmed Palestinians have been slaughtered over the past two months, and nothing has been done to punish Israel. Instead the US celebrates by moving its Embassy to Jerusalem and blocks UN Security Council resolutions condemning the killings. Meanwhile the EU continues to reward Israel with increased cooperation and taxpayer money. The entire situation is utterly shameful and sickening.”
Ms Tamimi concluded: “We commend the Irish government for summoning the Israeli Ambassador; however, words are not enough. The ambassador for apartheid and his staff should be expelled, and the Irish Ambassador in Tel Aviv recalled, just as South Africa has done. Ireland must also end the bilateral arms trade with Israel and call for an international military embargo on this state that is murdering vast numbers of Palestinians in cold blood. Ireland must call for the suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement, as Israel is in clear breach of its human rights clause. Finally, the Irish government and all opposition parties must support Sen. Frances Black’s upcoming bill seeking to prohibit the import of goods from occupied territories, including Israeli settlements in Palestine.“
According to WAFA, thousands of South Africans in the city of Cape Town, on Tuesday, also took to the streets to protest Israel’s killing of unarmed Palestinian protesters, and injuring thousands, in the Gaza Strip.
Thousands of protesters representing parliamentarians, the African National Congress (ANC), South Africa’s governing political party, religious figures including Jews, Christians, Muslims and Hindus, as well, joined the march to voice their rejection of the bloody events on Monday.
Protesters said that what happened in Gaza on Monday is not an issue of religion but a human cause and called for an immediate end to the bloodshed.

Permanent observer to the UN, Riyad Mansour, Tuesday, called for a transparent and independent investigation into the deadly violence in the Gaza Strip, and said that Palestinians will endorse the results of the investigation in advance.
He told the 15 members of the Security Council that Israel is the main source of violence in the region and any attempt to forge this fact is not consistent with reality. video
“We ask those who have different accounts; why are you obstructing a transparent and independent investigation? We accept in advance the results of this investigation called for by 14 members of the Council and the Secretary-General of the United Nations.”
He affirmed, according to WAFA, that Palestinians accept the results in advance and asked if the countries blocking the investigation are ready to accept it along with its consequences.
The United Nations Security Council met on Tuesday, to discuss violence along the border between Israel and the Gaza Strip, following the deadliest day during which dozens of Palestinians have been killed by Israeli armed forces.
Nikolay Mladenov, UN Special Coordinator addressed the council members and said the killing acts in Gaza don’t serve the peace process. He strongly condemned the events in the Gaza Strip and held Israel responsible for the use of lethal force, which led to the high death toll.
He said that Palestinians in Gaza are protesting because of poverty and for living in a large prison with no future. Palestinians in Gaza are frustrated and angry. If their voices are not heard, more destruction will happen, he explained.
Kuwait called for the session after 60 Palestinians were killed and thousands wounded by Israeli gunfire amid mass protests, on Monday, against opening the US embassy in Jerusalem.
Mansour Al-Otaibi, Kuwait’s ambassador to UN condemned the killing of over 60 Palestinians and said that Israel’s violation of International law would not have continued if it wasn’t for the lack of action by the Security Council.
He added that moving embassies to the city of Jerusalem is a violation of all decisions adopted by the Security Council and affirmed his country’s support of any Palestinian move on the national and the international level to solidify its sovereignty in the occupied city of Jerusalem.
Al-Otaibi said he would circulate a draft resolution to the 15-member council on Wednesday calling for the provision of international protection for the Palestinian people.
Sacha Sergio, the representative of Bolivia to the Security Council said “We must demand that the UN Security Council implement its commitments, as it will not achieve anything for the Palestinians.”
He added that the international community and the UN Security Council have completely failed the Palestinians and the world must work to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and stop the illegal occupation of Palestine.
Sergio condemned the transfer of the US Embassy to occupied Jerusalem, “because this is a violation of the resolutions of the Security Council and the General Assembly, and the United States, which supports the occupation has become an obstacle to peace and part of the problem and not part of the solution.”
He called for an independent investigation into what happened in the Gaza Strip and to work to end the occupation and establish a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders in line with UN resolutions and the UN Security Council.
PNN further reports that the Trump administration, on Monday, blocked a statement by the UN Security Councilthat was intended to call for an investigation of the events on the Israel-Gaza border.
The statement, circulated by Kuwait, included an expression of rage and sorrow on behalf of the Security Council over Israel killing more than 50 Palestinians on Monday. However, the US blocked the statement from being adopted and published.
The Kuwaiti statement also included a call for the creation of an “independent and transparent investigation” into Israel’s actions on the border.
It wasn’t the first time that the U.S. has blocked an action at the Security Council related to Israel’s actions in Gaza, but was notable in light of the high death toll yesterday in Gaza – the highest since the end of the 2014 war between Israel and Hamas.

It wasn’t the first time that the U.S. has blocked an action at the Security Council related to Israel’s actions in Gaza, but was notable in light of the high death toll yesterday in Gaza – the highest since the end of the 2014 war between Israel and Hamas.
