Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, warned of the consequences of the US President Donald Trump’s decision to endorse Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
In a press statement on Saturday, Hamas said “That would constitute a blatant violation of the international law since Jerusalem is an occupied territory".
Hamas added that Trump's expected resolution provides a kind of cover up for Israeli crimes of Judaization and expelling Palestinians out of the city.
Hamas called on the Palestinian poeple to confront the US decision and urged the youth to escalate al-Quds Intifada (uprising) so that this conspiracy would not pass.
The Movement asked Muslims, Arabs, and the free people of the world to shoulder their responsibilities and to work on halting and criminalizing this unfair resolution.

Haaretz newspaper reported that the Israeli Planning and Building Committee is set on Wednesday to approve a project for the construction of dozens of housing units on a Palestinian historical site in Abu Tor neighborhood in East Jerusalem.
The Hebrew newspaper said that the project, which will be built on a hilltop overlooking the Old City, is expected to destroy the area and spoil the view of the Old City.
According to the paper, the Greek Orthodox Patriarch Theophilos III in 2013 sold property in that area to the Jewish-American businessman, Michael Steinhardt, and the Jewish-British businessman, David Sofer.
It noted that the site is holy to Christians and Muslims and has great historical and archaeological significance especially that it contains archaeological remains, a number of churches, and Abu Tor monastery that was established during the World War II.
The plan, which has drawn strong opposition from local residents, particularly Christians, includes the construction of two large six-floor buildings and three smaller ones with 61 luxury apartments in addition to a public park on about half of the area.
Member of the Orthodox Central Committee, Uday al-Bagali, told the Hebrew newspaper that he does not comprehend how the Patriarch could sell this holy site that contains many important archaeological finds.
Recent reports have revealed that the Patriarch sold a large number of real estate and thousands of dunums of land in Jerusalem, the West Bank and the 1948 occupied Palestinian territories to Jewish businessmen and associations at very low prices.

The Israeli Knesset passed on Tuesday a bill to cut off Palestinian neighborhoods left behind the separation wall, such as Kafr Akab and the Shuafat refugee camp, from occupied Jerusalem.
The bill – approved by a 9-7 vote in the Knesset Law, Constitution and Justice Committee ahead of second and third readings – is an amendment to the suspicious Israeli Basic Law.
The bill to establish a new municipality in Kafr Akab and Shuafat is being promoted by Israeli Minister Ze’ev Elkin, who warns of the “Palestinian demographic growth” in occupied Jerusalem.
Elkin claims that because “these neighborhoods are located behind the wall and are wide open to the rest of the West Bank, Palestinians are coming to live in them and, due to mixed marriages, the rate of Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem is rising.”
The PIC reporter revealed that the plan came as part of Israeli Judaization schemes and mainly aims to change the demographic character of the occupied city.

The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs has said that dozens of Palestinian citizens have been detained for expressing their opinions on social media pages by Israel since the Jerusalem Intifada (uprising) started over two years ago.
In a press release on Sunday, Abdul-Naser Farwana, director of the documentation unit at the commission, stated that 280 Palestinians, including women, children, journalists and writers, had been arrested since early October 2015 after they had posted remarks, pictures or photos on different social media websites.
Some of them were also arrested for sharing, liking or commenting on postings published by others on Facebook or Twitter pages, or for joining other accounts, Farwana added.
According to him, several of those were indicted for incitement, sentenced to different jails terms with sometimes financial penalties, and others were transferred to administrative detention, with no indictment or trial.
However, some detainees were released on condition of not using Facebook for different periods of time.
Farwana described the detention and punishment of Palestinians because they expressed their own opinions on social media as “arbitrary and a violation of the international law.”

Hamas’s former chief, Khaled Mishaal, attributed the world’s apathy vis-à-vis the Palestinian cause to a set of intertwined causes, most notable among which being the Israel-U.S. pressure.
Speaking at a seminar staged by Al-Jazeera Center for Studies in Doha, Mishaal said the crises rocking the Middle East have resulted in declining support for the Palestinian cause.
“The nation’s enemies, with Israel being on top of the list, have been deliberately fueling sectarian and racial strife to divide the Arabs,” said Mishaal.
The Hamas leader also pointed out the ambivalence characterizing the world order, saying many superpowers, most notably the U.S., Russia, China, and India, are struggling to win the lion’s share.
“Every state has different interests and, therefore, a different position as regards the Palestinian cause,” explained Mishaal.
Commenting on the “Israeli factor”, Hamas’s former chief said Israel has been taking advantage of the weakness of the Palestinian leadership, internal division, and Arabs’ apathy vis-à-vis the cause.
“Israel has managed to establish strong bonds with a number of Arab States with the help of the U.S. President Donald Trump,” he stated.
Mishaal also attributed the declining back up for the Palestinian cause to the intra-Palestinian division.
He further warned of the upshots of the so-called “century’s deal” which he said aims to satisfy the U.S. and Israel by keeping pro-Israel regimes in power despite of the flagrant human rights violations perpetrated by such regimes.
“The U.S. has already received the deal. It just seeks to reproduce it, cover it up, and forward it to the world as an American peace project,” added Mishaal.
The Hamas leader also explained that the deal aims to prop up Israel’s sovereignty over Occupied Jerusalem and to eliminate the refugees’ right of return to their motherland instead of pushing for removing illegal settlements and establishing a Palestinian State on the 1967 borders. “A self-rule in the West Bank will, thus, be the utmost of what the Palestinians can get out of the deal.”
“Unfortunately, a number of Arab regimes have turned the Palestinian cause into a bargaining chip just to remain in power,” Hamas’s former chief concluded.

Israeli minister Naftali Bennett has reiterated his call for the occupied West Bank to be formally annexed, speaking on Monday evening at an event organised by pro-settler news site Arutz Sheva.
Education Minister and Diaspora Affairs Minister, Bennett declared that Israel has “a very rare opportunity now”, referring to US President Donald Trump.
“[There is] a President who thinks different, who thinks open,” Bennett told the audience, according to Days of Palestine.
“It’s not enough to move the embassy to Jerusalem. It’s now 50 years since we liberated Judea and Samaria [the West Bank]. It’s time to recognize them as Israel. It’s time for sovereignty,” he added, using the term often used by the Israeli right to refer to annexation.
Describing himself, in his capacity as diaspora affairs minister, as “effectively the Minister of the Jews”, Bennett said: “We need to understand that the Jewish State is not only the state of the Israeli citizen, it’s a state where every Jew in the world has a stake here.”

Israeli right-wing activist Baruch Marzel called for the execution of all Palestinians who are shot and injured during alleged anti-occupation attacks instead of providing them with medical treatment.
In an interview with Arutz Sheva, Marzel, a rabbi, said, "I've noticed that the State of Israel has been deteriorating since the Elor Azariya affair.
Terrorists are not killed and soldiers do not finish the job and do not make sure that the terrorist is dead. The terrorist is evacuated by MDA to our hospitals and receives treatment for hundreds of thousands of shekels alongside the wounded Jew.”
“The time has come for the Israeli government to stop humiliating its victims and the people of Israel. The terrorist must not be treated. A terrorist must die as soon as he comes to harm Jews," he continued.
“Have we gone crazy? To give treatment to a terrorist instead of killing him - that’s our morality? ‘He who comes to kill you, pamper him first.”
The Israeli soldier Elor Azariya who shot and killed a wounded Palestinian, who was incapacitated having already been shot, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for manslaughter.
The March 24 shooting, in the occupied West Bank city of al-Khalil, was filmed by activists from the Israeli B'Tselem human rights group.
That video shows the young Palestinian lying on the ground while bleeding.
Azariya then delivers the fatal blow, shooting him again in the head without any provocation.

An Israeli court recently issued a verdict ordering the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Palestinian prisoners to pay 62 million shekels ($17.6 million) in compensation to the families of Jewish settlers killed in a 2001 shooting attack.
According to Maariv newspaper, the verdict, which was issued by the Israeli district court in Jerusalem last Friday, accused the PA of funding and providing the means for acts of terrorism.
The ruling referred to a shooting attack that was carried out at the start of the second Intifada (uprising) by resistance fighters affiliated with al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades of Fatah.
Such Israeli steps raise a question whether the PA will respond and file compensation lawsuits against Israel with international courts over the death of hundreds of Palestinians at the hands of its troops and settlers in the West Bank and Gaza.

Marking the World Children’s Day (November 20th) the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) has reported that Israeli soldiers have killed 14 Palestinian children since the beginning of this year, while 300 children are still imprisoned by Israel.
It said that, according to statements and official data by the Palestinian Detainees’ Committee, Israeli soldiers have abducted 15000 Palestinians, including 4000 children, since the al-Quds Intifada started in late October 2015.
The PCBS added that Israel was still holding 300 children captive, facing bad treatment, torture and constant violations, spending their childhoods in prisons, without even the right to education.
It quoted detailed data and statistics by Defense for Children International (DCI) confirming that Israeli soldiers have killed 14 Palestinian children, since the beginning of this year, until October 31, compared to 35 children killed by Israeli fire in 2016.
It added that three of the slain children, killed in 2017, were 13-15 years of age, and eleven were 16-17 years of age.

The Hebrew newspaper, Kol Ha'ir, published last week an illustration for a four-kilometer tunnel network to be built by “Moriah corporation,” an affiliate of the Israeli municipality, from the French Hill settlement in east Jerusalem, to other settlements.
The Israeli district planning and building committee in Jerusalem last September approved for public review a plan to build this tunnel network.
In the framework of this tunnel project, tunnels with one and two lanes will be built in the direction of the settlements, Ma'ale Adumim, Ramot, Pisgat Ze’ev and Neve Yaakov.
This project also aims to enable settlers to travel from Ma’ale Adumim to Tel Aviv easily without waiting at traffic lights.

A Palestinian official report on Saturday said that the first half of November witnessed a serious escalation on different levels in the Israeli violations targeting Occupied Jerusalem and its residents.
A report released by the Palestinian Ministry of Information said that the Israeli government has started the implementation of a demolition plan targeting 6 Palestinian buildings in Kafr Aqab neighborhood.
It also unveiled an Israeli security plan aimed at turning the Old City of Jerusalem into a military zone by establishing a new police unit composed of 200 policemen specifically for al-Aqsa Mosque, deploying security guards in large numbers at permanent checkpoints in the vicinity of Bab al-Amud, and installing 40 new advanced surveillance cameras in the area.
Since the beginning of November, the Israeli police have arrested 41 Palestinians in Jerusalem and issued a deportation order against a guard of al-Aqsa Mosque.
The detainees include 19 children, a journalist, and seven women including a mother and her three children and four teachers.
In a related context, the Israeli authorities knocked down 3 houses, a residential building under construction, several apartments, a shop and two caravans, razed a land, and forced two Palestinian families to demolish their homes with their own hands.
Islamic institutions in Jerusalem warned particularly of the "disastrous" decision to launch a special police unit for al-Aqsa Mosque and considered it a "declaration of war" against all Muslims.

Israel’s Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan is set to propose a law that will allow police not to return the bodies of slain Palestinians to their families.
According to Hebrew news sources, the law would allow Israeli police to rule against returning bodies of anti-occupation attackers to their families if the funeral is likely to turn into a mass demonstration, or “if incitement against Israelis will be featured.”
Commenting on the proposal, Erdan claimed that funerals for anti-occupation protesters have turned into “festivals of incitement” that promote further attacks.
Erdan added that Palestinians whose bodies have been withheld by the Israeli authorities will be buried only if families adhere to the conditions set by police.
The Israeli occupation authorities have withheld the bodies of dozens of Palestinian protesters killed by the Israeli forces following alleged anti-occupation attacks. Their families have also been made to endure tough punitive measures.
Ironically, the new law would allow Israeli police to decide if families could be trusted not to turn funerals into riots.
