Israeli weekly “Yerushalayim” newspaper reported on Saturday that Occupied Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat announced during a tour with members of the Likud party in the city that the municipality plans to build another floor under al-Buraq Wall courtyard in Al-Aqsa Mosque, adding that he showed them a design of the new plan.
The Israeli government endorsed last month a one-million-shekel budget for construction and improvement projects in the plaza and tunnel of al-Buraq Wall.
The projects include discovering and maintaining relics, boosting transportation means, and boosting educational activities for Jewish students and soldiers.

A report by the Jerusalem International Foundation reviewed tens of facts regarding the Israeli occupation’s Judaization practices in Jerusalem since the occupation of its eastern part 50 years ago.
The report, issued recently by the research and information department of the foundation, titled "50 shocking facts about the reality of Judaization in Jerusalem", stated that the occupation of Palestine (and Jerusalem in particular) is one of the most dangerous types of colonialism that human history has known in recent times, with its violations of the international laws and resolutions, and its practices of the most horrible forms of Judaization and forgery of history.
The report said that since the occupation of the western part of Jerusalem in 1948, the Israeli occupation continued to Judaize the city on the religious, cultural, and demographic levels, and persisted in fabricating a false historical narrative to change the identity of the place, by exploiting all means of pressure from siege and incursions, to the settlement expansion and house demolitions, to prosecuting civil society organizations and denying property ownership to Palestinians…etc.
Land confiscation and de-populating the city
Amongst the 50 facts that were reviewed by the Jerusalem Foundation on the Judaization of the Holy City, is the process of controlling the largest amount of lands while expelling the largest possible number of the native population. The Israeli strategy has three pillars: the expulsion of the natives, then population replacement with Jewish settlers and last, changing the identity of the place.
The report added that in the context of Judaization, the Israeli occupation authority seeks to achieve several goals, foremost of which is the provision of a security belt around Jerusalem, and the preservation of important military sites in the city’s vicinity, besides finding new ways and paths for the settlers, and creating settlements contiguity. In addition to obstructing the natural growth of the Arab population while increasing the Jewish presence, and isolating the city from its Palestinian surroundings and above all, strengthening its status as the capital of Israel.
The report stated that Israel is relentlessly attempting to impose its sovereignty on Al-Aqsa Mosque and to allocate times for Jewish incursions; it also systematically isolated the defense elements of the Mosque after outlawing the Islamic movement and the Ribat (sit-in) in al-Aqsa, in preparation to divide the mosque spatially and temporally.
The report pointed to several Jewish organizations that jointly worked on targeting Al-Aqsa, as it pointed to how Jewish holidays have been made into seasons to desecrate the Mosque by all segments of the Israeli society; politicians, settlers, students and security personnel, besides the accompanying attacks on the Mosque’s guards and worshipers and keeping them away, even during the last days of Ramadan, in order to impose a new fait accompli on the Islamic site.
The report pointed to the continued obstruction of the work of the Islamic Waqf and the prevention of restoration work in Al-Aqsa, in addition to the enactment of laws and judicial decisions that strengthen the sovereignty of the occupation on the city and change its status quo.
In addition to what is happening in Al-Aqsa, the report pointed to Israel’s continued establishment of a Jewish city under the Old City of Jerusalem and its vicinity. The report referred to continued attempts to connect the underground excavations to each other and set up underground facilities in order to promote faked history, pointing to the existence of more than 63 excavations until the end of 2016.
The report also pointed to the establishment of dozens of settlement units in the vicinity of Al-Aqsa and inside Jerusalem, while building restrictions on the Palestinians and house demolitions are on the rise, pointing to the demolition of 1,396 Palestinian homes between 2000 and 2016, while allowing settler associations to seize and confiscate Palestinian properties.
Revoking IDs
The report also addresses the Israeli policy of revoking ID cards and residency from Jerusalemites, depriving them of the most basic human rights under various pretexts, and even persecuting them with all kinds of violence, such as detention, deportation, house arrest and travel ban.
The persecution against Palestinians in Jerusalem is not limited to Muslims; it also affects Christians, other than targeting the curriculums, and the educational health and private sectors, according to the report.
As for the economic aspect, the report addressed the Israeli battle against Jerusalemites on their sources of livelihood, as well as the high unemployment rate that has reached 31%, while the percentage of families below the poverty line about 76%.
The report pointed to the increase in the number of settlers in Arab neighborhoods by 40% and the construction of settlement outposts in East Jerusalem by about 39%, emphasizing the high incidence of land grabs to the extent that the Jerusalemites only have 13% of the land to build on.
The report concludes by pointing to the huge funds allocated by Israel to Judaize the city through systematic schemes.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is set to vote on resolutions related to Palestinian sites in the cities of Jerusalem and al-Khalil in July.
The agenda of the 41st session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, which will be held in Kraków city in Poland between 2nd and 12th July 2017, will include a re-voting on a previous resolution filed by Jordan on the Old City of Jerusalem and its walls, according to Anadolu agency's reporter.
The Committee will consider requests for the inclusion of new sites on UNESCO's World Heritage List and examine the state of conservation of sites already included on the List as well as many other issues related to the implementation of the World Heritage Convention.
The World Heritage Committee consists of representatives from 21 of the States Parties to the Convention concerning protecting the world cultural and natural heritage, elected by the General Assembly of the States Parties to the Convention.
The UNESCO Executive Board adopted on 26th October 2016 a resolution affirming that Jerusalem is an "occupied city" and demanding Israel, the occupying power, "to halt its activities" in the city.
Jerusalem Post newspaper reported on Tuesday, quoting Israel’s ambassador to UNESCO, Carmel HaCohen, that Israel wants the resolution to be reversed.
With each new UNESCO session, the resolutions voted on in the previous years are confirmed, so Israel hopes to succeed in changing the states' positions on these resolutions.
HaCohen said that Palestine requested including the Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil in the UNESCO list of endangered sites.
He pointed out that Israel prevented a team from the UNESCO from conducting a field trip in al-Khalil before the vote.
According to Jerusalem Post, Israel's Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely said that she spoke with foreign ambassadors based in Israel about the pending al-Khalil vote.
She claimed that the Jewish holy sites are being "Islamized".
The UNESCO Executive Board adopted in 2010 a resolution stipulating that the Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil and Bilal Ibn Rabah Mosque in Bethlehem are an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territories and that any unilateral action by the Israeli authorities constitutes a violation of the international law, the UNESCO conventions, and the United Nations and the Security Council resolutions.
44 states voted in favor of the resolution, 1 state voted against and 12 states abstained.

Over the past year, the Israeli army has accelerated its programme to install a comprehensive network of surveillance cameras and “other monitoring devices” across the West Bank, Haaretz reported yesterday.
The paper said that the plan aims to monitor the movement of Palestinians 24 hours a day, and to assist in the early detection of attacks against Israeli targets.
According to the paper, more than 1,700 cameras have been installed on roads, intersections and in illegal settlements across the West Bank.
Haaretz said, according to the PNN, that the army believes more cameras deter terror attacks and can aid in gathering intelligence that can help to capture perpetrators.
The improved signals intelligence capabilities of the Shin Bet security service [Israeli equivalent of the FBI] and Military Intelligence were an important component in Israel’s response to attacks by terror cells affiliated with Hamas, Fateh and Islamic Jihad, during the Second Intifada, Haaretz added.
“Today’s challenges, however, are different. Most terror attacks are carried out by ‘lone wolves’, acting without the backing of an organisation, or by small, independent local cells.
“This development has made visual intelligence technology a more significant part of the Israeli defense programme.”
In addition to the cameras, the army has also expanded its network of surveillance balloons.
According to Haaretz, the army’s goal is to “expand the system until there is a camera at every intersection and in as many Israeli vehicles in the [occupied] territories as possible.”

Undercover Israeli officers invaded, on Sunday morning, the Al-Qibli Mosque, of the Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound, and smashed its doors, before invading it, and clashed with many local youngsters.
The undercover officers invaded the mosque while Israeli soldiers and officers occupied its rooftop, while many Palestinians were detained and interrogated in the mosque compound, as the soldiers investigated their ID cards.
The attack led to scuffles and clashes between the invading Israeli forces and dozens of worshipers, while the soldiers also abducted an international pilgrim in the mosque.
Furthermore, the soldiers assaulted many worshipers, including the head of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Omar al-Kiswani.
Israeli sources said one officer was injured in the head after a Palestinian stuck him with an iron chair in the head, during the military invasion.
In related news, dozens of extremist Israeli colonists, accompanied by dozens of soldiers and officers conducted provocative tours into the Al-Aqsa compound.
Dozens of soldiers are still surrounding the holy site, and are preventing the Palestinians from entering or leaving it.
It is worth mentioning that the Palestinian department of Waqf and Endowment has repeatedly warned that such invasions into the holy site will only lead to further tension and violence, especially during the holy Muslim month of Ramadan.

The Jewish Home party is advancing an amendment to Israeli Basic Law about Occupied Jerusalem to ensure that the city is never divided, Israel Hayom newspaper revealed on Friday.
Israel Hayom reported that Jewish Home Chairman Naftali Bennett is pushing to amend the Israeli Basic Law to stipulate that Occupied Jerusalem cannot be divided unless such a move gains the support of 80 out of the 120 MKs.
According to the report, the amendment is set to go to a vote, within a couple of weeks, in the Knesset Law Committee, where Jewish Home believes that it will receive a majority of votes.
A senior Jewish Home official explained to Israel Hayom that the new amendment seeks to further protect the status of Jerusalem in any future diplomatic agreement by giving strength to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Israel occupied the western part of Jerusalem in 1948 and east Jerusalem in 1967. East Jerusalem, however, is considered as an occupied territory by the UN.

Israeli police shut down, on Sunday, the gates of al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem, denying entry and exit of Muslim worshipers to and from the compound.
Israeli police claimed, according to WAFA, that the site was shut down after some worshipers at the compound pelted stones at Israeli settlers who were performing rituals near the Moroccan Gate, just outside the compound.
The police declared that the site will remain closed until the worshipers hand over those who pelted stones at the Israeli settlers.
In the meantime, Israeli police allowed for the entry of a group of Jewish fanatics to the compound in the morning, where they toured the holy site and performed rituals.
Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site in Islam and is also venerated as Judaism’s most holy place. Disputes surrounding visitation to the site have historically flared tensions in the occupied Palestinian territory.
In 2003, the Israeli government unilaterally decided — despite the objections of the Islamic Endowments Department — to allow non-Muslim visitors into the complex.
Since then, under increasingly right-wing Israeli governments, extremist Jewish settlers have been allowed into the site in ever greater numbers — usually protected by Israeli security forces — while Palestinian access to the site has become increasingly restricted.

The Hamas Movement has strongly denounced senior Fatah official Jibril Rajoub for claiming that the Jews has a right to the Western Wall of the Aqsa Mosque, describing his remarks in this regard as “a national crime and an affront to the Palestinian people and their holy sites.”
Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasem said that Rajoub’s remarks were “a clear message to the Israeli occupation state about the Palestinian Authority’s readiness to make a concession on a sacred, national and historic constant in exchange for crumbs.”
“Such remarks expose the state of national and moral decline which some Fatah leaders have reached after their coup against the Palestinian national project,” spokesman Qasem said.
He also said that Rajoub’s remarks about the Aqsa Mosque’s Western Wall reflected further Fatah leaders’ attempt to present themselves to the Israeli community as doves of peace at the expense of their national cause and homeland.

Member of Fatah’s central committee Jibril Rajoub on Saturday claimed that the Jews have a right to the Western Wall (Buraq Wall) of the Aqsa Mosque.
In a program broadcast by Israel’s Channel 2, Rajoub said that the Aqsa Mosque would be in the hands of the Palestinians in any future peace agreement, but its Western Wall would be under Israel’s jurisdiction.
The Fatah official also hailed the recent regional visit of US president Donald Trump as “an opportunity to advance the peace process.”
He said that Trump has good intentions to restart the peace talks between the Palestinians and Israelis, adding that the Palestinian Authority is ready all the time to sit at the negotiating table.
Rajoub noted that Trump invited Palestinian figures to visit Washington to discuss the future of the peace settlement in cooperation with an Israeli crew.
He stressed that “Israel has the right to maintain its security and prosperity but not within the 1967 borders.”

U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an order delaying the relocation of the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, breaking his election promise, several reports said, according White House statement.
In doing so, Trump continues the policy of the previous three presidents and breaks an election promise he made to move the embassy to Jerusalem, the second president to break such a promise, after George W. Bush.
The waiver has been signed by every U.S. president since 1995, and it is valid for six months at a time. Former U.S. President Barack Obama signed it during the last weeks of his term, and, on Thursday, it would be half a year since he did so.
The White House said Thursday, that while Trump signed the waiver, he has no intention in breaking his campaign promise.
“No one should consider this step to be in any way a retreat from the President’s strong support for Israel and for the United States-Israel alliance,” the said in a statement.
The White House added : ”President Trump made this decision to maximize the chances of successfully negotiating a deal between Israel and the Palestinians, fulfilling his solemn obligation to defend America’s national security interests. But, as he has repeatedly stated his intention to move the embassy, the question is not if that move happens, but only when.”
PNN reports that, according Haaretz Israeli daily, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked Trump not to sign the presidential order freezing the moving of the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, a week and a half ago during their meeting in Jerusalem.
According to a senior Israeli official, Netanyahu told Trump that Israel was interested in having the embassy moved and that he did not think that this would cause a deterioration in the security situation in the West Bank.
