The Israeli occupation forces on Sunday morning arrested the Palestinian young man Abdul Karim Asi, who allegedly carried out an anti-occupation stabbing attack near Ariel illegal settlement, in the northern West Bank.
Asi has been chased down by the Israeli occupation army for 42 days running after he was held accountable for the stabbing attack which left the fanatic Israeli rabbi, Itamar Ben-Gal, dead at a junction near Ariel on February 6.
Ever since the attack, Assi had successfully evaded a massive manhunt designed to apprehend him.
Hebrew-speaking sources said the Israeli military also arrested a number of Palestinians who have allegedly helped Asi hiding from the army’s view.
A manhunt launched by the Israeli occupation forces at the crack of dawn throughout the West Bank culminated in the abduction of eight Palestinians and the misappropriation of cash allegedly allotted to funding projected anti-occupation operations in Beit Sahour.
Terrorist who murdered Rabbi Itamar Ben Gal captured
Abed al-Karim Adel Assi, who stabbed Rabbi Itamar Ben Gal to death at the Ariel Junction last month, caught in Nablus overnight along with several other suspects who helped him hide; 'Let every murderous terrorist know we will get to him and settle the score with him,' says Defense Minister Lieberman.
Abed al-Karim Adel Assi, the terrorist who murdered Rabbi Itamar Ben Gal, was caught in Nablus early Sunday along with several other suspects who helped him hide.
Rabbi Itamar Ben Gal, 29, was murdered in a stabbing attack near the entrance to the settlement of Ariel early last month. He is survived by his wife, Miriam, and their four children.
Al-Karim, 19, an Israeli-Arab resident of Jaffa, arrived at the Ariel Junction bus stop on February 5 and, with no apparent hesitation, stabbed Ben Gal from behind.
After he was stabbed, Ben Gal ran to a bus that stopped at a station nearby while al-Karim gave chase. Reaching the bus, the rabbi knocked on its door for help before immediately collapsing.
The terrorist then fled the scene. An off duty IDF officer who witnessed the attack then chased the assailant in his car and rammed him.
Despite being hit, al-Karim was able to escape with the help of an unidentified driver who picked him up near the scene of the incident.
Al-Karim was arrested in a joint operation by forces from the Shin Bet, the Israel Police's counterterrorism unit Yamam, and the IDF's Samaria Territorial Brigade, which was launched immediately after the attack.
Over the past month, raids were carried out to arrest accomplices, while at the same time the Shin Bet and IDF continued their intelligence effort to track the terrorist.
"The IDF and the security forces will continue working to protect the security of the residents and will work to thwart terror attacks against the citizens of Israel," the IDF Spokesman's Office said following the arrest.
Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman expressed satisfaction of the terrorist's capture, saying, "We've come full circle. Let every murderous terrorist know we will get to him and settle the score with him. I congratulate the security forces for a successful intelligence operation."
Miriam Ben Gal, the rabbi's widow, said following the terrorist's capture that, "Truthfully, I don't feel anything. It won't bring (Itamar) back home. And it won't prevent another terrorist from rising and murdering again and destroying another family."
She called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to approve the construction of 800 housing units in Har Brakha, where she lives, saying it would be "the real answer to Itamar's murder."
Forces from the IDF's Menashe Territorial Brigade continued operating in the Barta'a village area in the wake of the car-ramming terror attack near the village of Ya'bad, which claimed the lives of two IDF soldiers—Lieutenant Ziv Daus, 21, of Azur, and Sergeant Netanel Kahalani, 20, of Elyakim.
The troops searched for illegal weapons in several locations in the village, where terrorist Alaa Kabha is from, and found gun parts and a makeshift air gun.
In Beit Sahour, troops from the Etzion Territorial Brigade seized thousands of shekels of terror funds.
Also overnight Saturday, security forces arrested eight wanted Palestinians who are suspected of involvement in terror activity and violent rioting against Israeli citizens and security forces. The suspects were taken in for questioning.

The Israeli government in its weekly meeting on Sunday approved the construction of a new neighborhood in Gush Etzion settlement bloc south of Bethlehem.
The Hebrew TV channel 7 reported that a residential neighborhood will be built for the settlers of Netiv Ha'avot settlement outpost south of Bethlehem, adding that the plan will involve the construction of 350 settlement units.
The Israeli Supreme Court in December 2016 issued a decision to demolish 15 houses in Netiv Ha'avot after it was found out that they were built on private Palestinian lands.
The outpost was due to be demolished in the first week of March 2018, but the Israeli prosecution requested to postpone the demolition until 15th June.
Head of Gush Etzion Regional Council Shlomo Ne'eman said that approving new construction plans in Netiv Ha'avot is a great victory for the settlement project in Judea and Samaria (West Bank).
The Hebrew TV channel pointed out that Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the study of a plan to build 800 settlement units in Har Brakha settlement, south of Nablus, in response to an anti-occupation stabbing attack three weeks ago in which an Israeli settler was killed.
The UN Security Council on 23rd December 2016 adopted a draft resolution calling for halting Israel's settlement construction in the occupied Palestinian territories because it undermines the two-state solution and the peace process.
Settlements are one of the major reasons hindering negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians. Palestinians say they will return to the negotiating table only once Israel freezes the settlement construction, while Israel wants negotiations without preconditions.

General Secretary of the Palestinian National Initiative, MP Mustafa al-Barghouti, on Thursday said that the collective punishment policy pursued by the Israeli occupation against the residents of Hizma, Sinjil and Beita towns in Nablus is a blatant violation of international humanitarian laws.
Al-Barghouti said in a press statement that closing all entrances to the three towns and imposing exorbitant fines on the citizens passing through the only exit left open in Sinjil town constitute a violation of the Palestinians' right to free movement.
He added that the Israeli occupation is launching a series of frenzied campaigns against the Palestinian people in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, the latest of which was the confiscation of large areas of privately-owned lands near Ramallah.
The Palestinian MP explained that the racist Israeli government seeks to consolidate its apartheid regime in the Palestinian territories through the settlement construction, the separation wall and the land confiscation policy to thwart any possibility to establish an independent Palestinian state.
He affirmed that the Israeli occupation will not be deterred except by popular resistance and boycott campaigns, calling for the decisions announced by the Palestinian Central Council in its last meeting to be brought into action.

Responding to statement by U.S. Ambassador David Friedman, the official Palestinian Presidency spokesperson, Nabil Abu Rodeina, said Tuesday that the ongoing illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine is the root cause of all violence in the region, and denounced the American stances that destroy all chances of real peace.
Abu Rodeina stated that Israel’s insistence on keeping its illegal occupation, violations and apartheid colonialist policies, are the root cause of all violence in the entire region.
He added that the only way to end the conflict and achieve peace in the region is to end the ongoing illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine, by implementing all related United Nations and Security Council resolutions that call for ending this and establishing an independent Palestinian state.
His statements came in response to the American Ambassador to Israel David M. Friedman, who accused the Palestinian leadership of praising attacks against Israel, including the latest stabbing Itamar illegal Israeli colony, in the occupied West Bank.
Abu Rodeina said that, instead of trying to create a positive atmosphere that could enable the resumption of real peace talks, Friedman is seeking further tension, and is attempting to bring more violence to the region.
“Such statements are unbecoming of an Ambassador; they are complete flawed and aim at creating more tension,” he said, “The Palestinian leadership supports nonviolent resistance against the Israeli occupation, and never condones violence of any type. Friedman’s statements only lead to more harm and violence to the region.”
The Palestinian official also stated that real and comprehensive peace requires the full Israeli withdrawal from the occupied territories, the establishment of a viable, contagious Palestinian State, with East Jerusalem as its capital, by implementing all related international resolutions.

The Israeli daily, Haaretz, reported the Abdul-Hakim’s mother is from Haifa, while his father is from Nablus, in the northern West Bank.
People who have one parent from inside Israel and the other from the West Bank are often denied residency, and are forced to live with one parent in the West Bank, which is considered ‘second class status’ by Israeli law.
Inside Israel, the government is nominally considered a democracy, whereas the Israeli military rules the occupied West Bank with martial law.
In the aftermath of the fatal stabbing, dozens of Israeli paramilitary settlers gathered along roads in the area around Salfit, and the entrances to the villages of Hares and Kifl Hares, and attacked passing Palestinian cars with stones.
Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu issued a statement following the death of the settler, saying that Israeli military forces “are in pursuit of the murderers. We will exact our judgment.”
The Hamas party also issued a statement, saying the attack is a direct response to Donald Trump’s unilateral declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel — a declaration that effectively denies the existence of over a million Palestinians who live in Jerusalem.
