Sharif Ermelat 15
Killed 03-01-09
Killed while sitting in a tent near his house. Ten of his relatives were wounded.
On the third of January, the family gathered in the home yard among the olive trees, while Sherif walked steadily to the door of the house watching outside. He heard the sounds of the shells went high from time to time, so he wanted to see what is going on; perhaps he can help an injured or a wounded. He stood at the door and lent his back against the wall, few seconds have passed but an Israeli tank aimed a shell at him. The shrapnel penetrated his head and back, left him on the ground soaked in blood.
His mother did not see him off because she was possessed by a severe state of depression that left her unable to speak out of sorrow. She announced mourning by wearing in black. Sherif was her mum's supporter, helper, and the soft heart that treated her kindly. He promised her mother to bear the responsibility of improving their living standards when growing up. Her mother waited for that day but it did not and would not come because the one who took the promise left and the promised mother remained in a state of sorrow with a heart full of pain.
Sherif was the beloved one to his sister Maryem to whom he told all his worries, pains, and sorrows. Maryem said after she had fallen into moments of silence during which she recalled the memory of her brother: "He was so close to my heart. I miss him so much." She was the first to see him lying on the ground dead.
After the bombard, a man brought his body and placed him in front of his house so that his mother could have the last look before he was buried. In a time when the family ran away of the bombard and destruction, the shrapnel split his head and broke his back.
His Dreams:
Despite his young age, Sherif was a responsible man, who used to help his father in sustaining his siblings and so kind to his sisters and mother; he used to kiss her hand all the time.
Sherif wished to grow up to relieve his father from the responsibility of providing sustenance to his siblings and to bear it after he would finish his education and get a suitable job, but nothing of his wishes came true because his life span was over before he realized his dreams.

Hassan Hiju 15
Killed 03-01-09
Killed in the bombing of al-Maqadmeh mosque, in which the army contended ammunition and weapons were stored. 15 persons were killed in the bombing, among them five members of the Hamas military wing and one person from the Islamic Jihad military wing.
Hasan did not acquiesce to the war that Gaza was suffering. Soon he went out with his friends, moving from an alley to another without caring for the state of terror that was imposed on north Gaza in particular.
After his mother had succeeded to obtain some bread, Hasan ate his breakfast, changed his clothes, and went out to play "Al-Bananir" game with the boys of his neighborhood. When it was the time for Al-Maghrib prayer, his brother took him to offer the prayer in Ibrahim Al-Maqadmah's mosque. After they had finished, intended to go home, a reconnaissance warplane aimed at the people coming out of the mosque causing tens of casualties.
The sixteen-years-old boy Hasan Hijju was one of those little kids who were shot in the head. Hasan was killed inside the most beloved mosque to his heart where he dedicated a place to memorize the Glorious Qur'an.
Hasan loved and cared for the young kids so much, especially the kids of his neighborhood to the extent that Hamzah, the neighbors' kid, comes to ask about him until today. Days before he had been martyred, Hasan asked his mother to beget a child for him and when she told him that she had enough kids, he asked her dearly to beget a little one for his sake.
His mother said: "I begot two boys and seven girls and I was dreaming of a day to come in which I could see the boys grow up to become young men." They had killed Hasan, while he was offering prayer, before I could see him a young man.
I remember when he asked me to let him marry with his brother in the same day, but I refused and said: we shall let you marry in a different day so that we can celebrate more and more. Allah is sufficient for us, and how fine a trustee He is! Now, I have nothing to do but to supplicate Allah for my little baby. I ask Him to be pleased with Hasan and admit him to the highest place in Paradise — by Allah's Will."
His mother said: "Hasan was not so much brilliant at school but he was so in memorizing the Qur'an. He used to memorize the Qur'an easily with his brother then hurry to the mosque to tell what he had memorized. His first wish was to become a sheikh and an instructor to teach the Islamic subjects and the Qur'an to young children, but unfortunately, he died before he could make that dream come true.

Ahmad Tbeil 15
Killed 03-01-09
Killed in the bombing of al-Maqadmeh mosque, in which the army contended ammunition and weapons were stored.
15 persons were killed in the bombing, among them five members of the Hamas military wing and one person from the Islamic Jihad military wing.
As usual, Ahmad Tubayl went to "Ibrahim Al-Makadmah's mosque" to perform the Maghrib prayer on the third of January. After performing Salah, an Israeli reconnaissance warplane hit the people who were coming out of the mosque, causing Ahmad to fall as a martyr and left dozens of citizens in causalities.
Other Information:
Ahmed was fantastic. He amazes you when you see tens of certificates of appreciation that he obtained in many fields. In the Islamic Sciences, Ahmad was not only satisfied to memorize the Qur'an in five ways of recitations, memorizing 1500 Hadith, and the study of the rules of recitation, but he studied also the science of distributing inheritance according to the Islamic Shariah.
As in the field of technical sciences, he was not only, as his father called him, a junior electronic engineer but also the first to use several modern technical programs in Gaza Strip.
Ahmed was a first-grade student in Ahmad Ash-Shuqiry's Secondary School and he always got the highest degrees. As in the final year of secondary school, which he could not reach, everyone knew him expected that he would be ranked the first in the scientific field in Gaza.
His father said: "The Professor used to entrust him with the questions of the tests to print, and when I told the professor not to do so, he would say: "Those were not difficult questions for Ahmed."
The professor also used to entrust him with the degrees of all students in the school. He was very honest; may Allah bestow mercy on his soul."
About his qualities his mother said: "Ahmed had interest in religious sciences as well as the worldly sciences. He was kind and tolerant. Two days before his martyrdom, he found me sad for people fell martyrs, he said to me: "O mother, do not cry or weep when I get martyred because a martyr only feels a pinch of a needle when killed." May Allah accept him in the Gardens of Eternity."
Ahmed was characterized with intimate family relationships. He was so much attached with his sister "Rola" and she was the deposit of his secrets. He was the closest to his father as `Aziz `Ali Ahmad said: "I was dreaming of the day on which he will become an engineer or someone important in the society. I remember how he was wearing my clothes and I loved him doing that because we were friends.
He was skilled at fixing computers and used to fix all the family equipments. He died and did not fix the equipment of his brother Rafiq. Ahmed was a junior electronic engineer, a calligrapher, an artist, a story writer."
His father says about his commitment to the mosque: "I woke up early to find him offering prayer at 3 AM., then get ready to go to the mosque. A friend of mine, who used to go to the mosque early, told me that his wish was to precede Ahmed to the mosque, but he could not.
"Today, after Ahmed's death, he can do that." Father sadly said.
