Two Al-Aqsa Brigades members killed in Balata camp![]() Two Palestinian activists affiliated to Fatah's Al-Aqsa Brigades were killed on Thursday morning as fierce clashes erupted between Palestinian resistance fighters and Israeli forces in Balata refugee camp, east of Nablus in the northern West Bank.
Sources within the Al-Aqsa Brigades told Ma'an's reporter that 28-year-old Mahir Abu Ar-Reish and 35-year-old Ahmad An-Nadi were killed and 30-year-old Muhammad Abu Arab was injured and arrested. Furthermore, 30-year-old Ahmad Abu 'Isha was injured in a two-hour bout of fierce clashes between Israeli forces and a number of Al-Aqsa Brigades fighters. The sources added that some of the fighters had left the Palestinian security headquarters in Nablus after an undercover Israeli targeted it killing Ibrahim Al-Masimi and injuring four others. |
Eyewitnesses said that a large Israeli force invaded Balata camp early in the morning after an undercover force infiltrated into the camp. Fierce clashes erupted between the invading forces and Palestinian resistance fighters.
Olmert: Israel will continue operations in Gaza

An-Nasser Salah Addin Brigades clash with undercover Israeli force

The military wing of the Popular Resistance Committees(PRC), the An-Nasser Salah Addin Brigades said on Wednesday evening that a group of their militants clashed with an undercover Israeli force at the town of Khuza'a east of Khan Younis.
They said in a statement, "Israeli helicopters flew over the area which indicates there were casualties amongst the Israeli soldiers."
The statement added that the operation came in retaliation for the ongoing Israeli aggression on the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

B'Tselem: 149 Palestinians killed since the start of 2008

The Israeli human rights group B'Tselem expressed grave concern on Thursday following the renewed fighting in Gaza.
According to B'Tselem, during the first two months of 2008, Israeli security forces killed 146 Palestinians in the Palestinian Territories. 132 were killed in the Gaza Strip and 14 in the West Bank, according to B'Tselem statistics. Of the total number, at least 42 were not participating in fighting when they killed, and 11 were minors. 87 people were killed during January, and 59 during February (until the 28th).

Ma'an learned that the abductees were 25-year-old Ibrahim Al-Masimi, 27-year-old Wa'il Al-Masimi, 20-year-old Yasir Al-Masimi and 21-year-old Ali 'Isha , 20-year-old Ibrahim Al-Jibrini.
The eyewitnesses affirmed that they saw the abductees bleeding after they were hit. Israeli authorities later reported that Later on, the Israeli authorities told the Palestinian authority that Ibrahim Al-Masimi had died of his injuries. Another of the injured men is reported to be in a serious condition.
Back up Israeli forces later entered Nablus to assist the undercover force.

Israeli soldiers abuse Hebron resident, demanding he dance naked

Israeli soldiers in Hebron in the southern West Bank brutally beat a Palestinian man, forcing him to dance naked, the Israeli daily newspaper Ma'arev reported on Wednesday.
When 26-year-old Ziyad Abu Snaina refused to dance, the soldiers continued to beat and humiliate him, detaining him for three hours.
Abu Snaina reported the incident, which took place four weeks ago at a military checkpoint near Hebron, to the Israeli humanitarian organization "Yesh Din."
According to Maariv and Yesh Din, Abu Snaina worked as a middleman at a taxi station near the checkpoint. A military jeep approached him with four soldiers inside. They asked him to evacuate all the taxis from the area in order to avoid traffic jams. After he did so, the patrol's commander asked him to be quiet and take off his sweater. When he refused, the soldiers hand-cuffed him and bound his legs. They also blindfolded him with a Palestinian kufiyya head scarf, before brutally beating him with their fists and rifle butts.
"When I told them I had a surgery in my back, they burst into laughter and started taking photos of my back on their mobile phones," Abu Snaina told Maariv.
He added that the soldiers telephoned the Shin Bet official known as "Captain Fathi" and let Abu Snaina talk to him. When Abu Snaina appealed for help, Fathi told him that the soldiers were doing their job, and he could not interfere with that.
Finally, the soldiers demanded that Abu Snaina undress and dance naked if he wanted to be freed.

Abu Snaina reported the incident, which took place four weeks ago at a military checkpoint near Hebron, to the Israeli humanitarian organization "Yesh Din."
According to Maariv and Yesh Din, Abu Snaina worked as a middleman at a taxi station near the checkpoint. A military jeep approached him with four soldiers inside. They asked him to evacuate all the taxis from the area in order to avoid traffic jams. After he did so, the patrol's commander asked him to be quiet and take off his sweater. When he refused, the soldiers hand-cuffed him and bound his legs. They also blindfolded him with a Palestinian kufiyya head scarf, before brutally beating him with their fists and rifle butts.
"When I told them I had a surgery in my back, they burst into laughter and started taking photos of my back on their mobile phones," Abu Snaina told Maariv.
He added that the soldiers telephoned the Shin Bet official known as "Captain Fathi" and let Abu Snaina talk to him. When Abu Snaina appealed for help, Fathi told him that the soldiers were doing their job, and he could not interfere with that.
Finally, the soldiers demanded that Abu Snaina undress and dance naked if he wanted to be freed.

Three Palestinian children were killed and six injured in an Israeli air strike on Wednesday evening, in the Al Taw'am area close to the Khazandar gas station, north of Gaza City.
The total number of Palestinians injured was 17, including the six children.
Dr. Mu'awiya Hassanain, the director of ambulance and emergency department in the Palestinian health ministry, said that ambulances transported the injured and the dead children, including the headless body of a child, to the Shifa' and Kamal hospital.
He added that five children were rushed to the intensive care unit and the operating room, with one clinically dead.
Witnesses said that those involved were passing by a local-made missile launcher that was struck by the Israeli forces.
Earlier in the day, two Palestinians were killed and two others injured when Israeli artillery targeted an orange grove in the Ash-Shuja'iyya neighbourhood in eastern Gaza City.
Hassanain said that one of the dead was identified as 27-year-old Minwir Abu Mandeel, who worked as a guard at the grove. The second victim's identity remains unknown as the corpse arrived at the Kamal Udwan Hospital so badly damaged that it was not possible to identify the victim.
On Wednesday morning, five Al-Qassam Brigades activists were killed, and several bystanders were injured, after Israeli helicopters launched two missiles at a car in western Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.
Eyewitnesses told Ma'an's reporter that the car was targeted near Al-Aqsa University.
In another Israeli raid on Wednesday morning an Islamic Jihad activist was killed and two others injured when an Israeli unmanned drone targeted two sites east of Al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.
A spokesperson of the the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of Islamic Jihad, said that the victim was Zaky Abu Zaid.
The wounded were evacuated to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital for treatment.
On Tuesday evening, Palestinian medical sources announced the death of a Palestinian farmer, 35-year-old Hasan Abu Sabt from Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip. The sources said he received a gunshot to the pelvis from the Israeli forces stationed at the Kissufim military post, east of Khan Younis.
