An Israeli Jew originally from Spain, who unknowningly married a family member of the Sarona terrorists, recounts her experience with Khaled and Mohammed Makhamra, who carried out the attack; she explains how the two terrorists are not the first to dress like Haredim to deceive Israelis
Information has come to light suggesting that the two terrorists who carried out the terrorist attack at the Sarona Market, which left 4 dead and 16 wounded, may have a Jewish family member.
An Israeli women who calls herself “Yael Cohen,” who now lives in Spain, claims that she lived for a few years with Abdullah Makhamra, the uncle of the Sarona Market terrorist Khaled and Mohammed Makhamra, and gave birth to two children with him. A source from Yatta, where the two terrorists lived, confirmed yesterday that he does, indeed, remember that a family member of Khaled was indeed married to a Jewish woman.
In a Facebook post two days after the attack, “Yael” spoke about her relationship to Abdullah Makhamra and wrote that she remembers the two terrorists “as young children running around at my place, sitting in my lap and babysitting my two small children.”
“Nice to meet you, I am Rizala, Khaled's and Mahmoud’s aunt,” she says at the start of her long Facebook post. She writes that she was raised in Magala, Spain and moved to Jerusalem to study in a Haredi boarding school after her parents divorced. Before turning 16 years old, she met a Haredi boy at a convenience store, who introduced himself as “Natanel Cohen” with whom she fell in love.
Yael (she claims that’s her Israeli name) also discussed how her father came to visit once and brought her to the minimarket to meet the aforementioned boy, who asked to be set up with her. “Six weeks had passed, I found myself deeply in love with Natanel, who had been pretending to be a young Haredi man from a good home.” She wrote.
“His house was in Yatta. Natanel suddenly turned into Abdullah and his Haredi clothing became his work costume. I was still 16 years old and in the first month my first child appeared and (I thought) what should I do?”
Yael claims that she was not married to Abdullah and changed her name to Rizala. Meanwhile, she preserved her Judaism, lighting candles on Shabbat and keeping kosher. She also said her husband turned out to be a violent man: “My status was that of an abused slave,” she wrote. “The beatings and humiliations were daily. The house was my only world, cleaning, cooking, and sex slavery for a man who had become evil, disgusting, and violent. Hell on earth.”
According to Yael, she succeeded in fleeing from her husband with her two kids, returning to live with them in Spain. There, the family still lives today. “The attack at Sarona Market brought me back 14 years,” she wrote. “The Haredi suit that the two cousins wore caused me déjà vu, a type of nausea and a bad and bitter memory. That’s a way of work for the family from Yatta.”
A Palestinian source in the Makhamra family confirmed to Yedioth Ahronoth, Ynet’s sister publication, that he remembers that Abdullah Makhamra was married in the past to a Jewish woman named Rizala.
Nonetheless, he said that Abdullah is not Khaled’s and Mohammed’s uncle but rather he is related in a different way. He added that Abdullah had some issues with village leaders a number of years ago and fled to Beit Guvrin in Israel. It is possible that he left the village at the same time as Yael. Other sources in the village denied the story, but it is possible that they do not want to bring a problem of the past back to the surface.

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on early Monday morning sealed all the entrances to the southern West Bank province of al-Khalil.
Reporting from al-Khalil, a PIC journalist said Israeli army patrols have been deployed near the main entrances of the city. The area has also been sealed off from all sides with a series of military checkpoints.
The IOF soldiers have been cordoning off Yatta town since Wednesday evening following the Tel Aviv anti-occupation attack. The occupation army further blocked the main streets in Yatta with sand barriers, denying Palestinians' access in and out.
Coordinator for the popular anti-settlement committee, Rateb al-Jabour, said the IOF wreaked havoc on civilian homes in Yatta and smashed their entrance gates.
Over recent days, the Israeli occupation army stepped assaults and abductions against Palestinian civilians in al-Khalil province as part of their intent to sever the ties linking Muslim families and communities together during the holy month of Ramadan.

Dozens of Israeli soldiers invaded, on Monday at dawn, many Palestinian homes in Yatta town, south of the southern West Bank city of Hebron, and searched many homes, before the army tightened the siege that was imposed on the town several days ago.
The soldiers invaded Yatta from several directions, before advancing into its neighborhoods, and then broke into many homes, and violently searched them.
They interrogated many Palestinians while searching their homes, especially in Roq’a area, Zeev and Susiya junctions.
Rateb Jabour, the media coordinator of the Popular and National Committee in Hebron, said the soldiers caused excessive property damage to some of the invaded homes, including those belonging to Mazen Yousef Jabour, Mohammad Khaled Issa Jabour and Ali Ismael Aqel.
The soldiers deliberately caused damage to windows, doors and furniture in the invaded homes, Jabour added.
The army also closed the town’s entrances with sand hills, and even blockaded roads between several neighborhoods, just one day after the soldiers opened them.
Yatta has been subject to constant invasions and collective punishment after the deadly shooting attack in Tel Aviv, on Wednesday evening, leading to the death of four Israelis, as the shooters, who were arrested by the police after the attack, are from the town.
The two shooters are cousins in their early twenties; one of them was arrested and taken in for questioning, while the other, who was injured, was also arrested and taken to a hospital.

(VIDEO) Israel has imposed collective punishment measures, and its leaders have threatened more to come after two Palestinian men opened fire in a busy upscale Tel Aviv square, this past Wednesday evening, killing four Israelis and injuring several more.
The alleged Palestinian gunmen, identified as cousins Muhammad Ahmad Mukhamara and Khaled Muhammad Mukhamara from the town of Yatta near the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, were also wounded before being apprehended.
Israeli media broadcast security camera footage of the incident, showing the two alleged gunmen, dressed in suits, opening fire in a restaurant: Bezalel Smotrich, a lawmaker with the Jewish Home ultra-nationalist party, regretted that the alleged Palestinian attackers were not slain, and condemned praise of the shootings made on a Twitter account purportedly belonging to Ismail Haniyeh, the top Hamas leader in Gaza.
“The first stage of deterrence is that when a terrorist heads off to kill Jews he understands that he will not leave the arena alive,” Smotrich said in a video posted on his Facebook page.
Smotrich called on the Israeli defense minister to carry out extrajudicial executions of Hamas leaders.

The Israeli occupation army last night notified the families of the two Palestinian young men who carried out the recent Tel Aviv operation of its intention to demolish their homes in Yatta town, south of al-Khalil city.
Rateb al-Jabour, coordinator of the popular committee against the wall and settlement, said that the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) tightened the blockade last night on the town and carried out widespread raids on homes and arrests.
Jabour added that the IOF verbally ordered the families of the two cousins, Mohamed and Khaled Makhamreh, to evacuate their homes as a prelude to demolishing them.
However, he did not state when the demolitions would be carried out. The Israeli army has slapped a tight siege on Yatta town in al-Khalil following the Tel Aviv shooting attack, which was carried out last Wednesday by the two cousins.
During the last few days, the army went on the rampage through the town, causing damage to property and making arbitrary arrests against citizens.

The Israeli occupation army on Friday continued to completely beleaguer, for the second day, about 120,000 Palestinian citizens in Yatta town, south of al-Khalil city.
According to municipal chief of the town Mousa Makhamreh, all the entrances and roads to the town had been blocked since Thursday with mounds of dirt and rocks.
"The closure of the town's entrances with dirt mounds would make things more difficult … If they were closed with military barriers, there would be a possible chance for negotiation for emergency cases such as the transport of patients," Makhamreh stated in press remarks on Friday.
He said that the Israeli occupation forces had carried out several raids on homes and arrests over the past two days in the town. Four Israelis were killed and several others were wounded last Wednesday when two residents of the southern West Bank town of Yatta carried out a shooting attack in a popular cafe in Tel Aviv.
On Thursday, the Israeli government started implementing sweeping measures to beef up security and restrict movement of Palestinians in what observers say is mass punishment. Within hours of the attack, the Israeli authorities revoked travel permits issued for 83,000 Palestinians from both the West Bank and Gaza Strip for the holy month of Ramadan and embarked on sealing off Yatta.

The Israeli cabinet on Thursday evening imposed a complete siege on Yatta town south of al-Khalil along with a series of sweeping restrictions on Palestinian movement, including the suspension of special Ramadan permits, following a shooting at a Tel Aviv cafe that killed four Israelis.
The cabinet also decided to deploy hundreds of additional troops in the West Bank, while Israeli war minister Avigdor Lieberman ordered that the bodies of all alleged Palestinian attackers or would-be attackers not be returned for burial.
COGAT, the Israeli military body responsible for civilian affairs in the occupied territories, said that 83,000 permits for Palestinians in the West Bank to visit relatives in Israel had been frozen.
Special Ramadan permits were also suspended for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to visit relatives in Israel, travel abroad, and attend prayers at the Al Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.
In addition, the Israeli military said it had frozen Israeli work permits for 205 of the alleged attackers’ relatives and was preventing Palestinians from leaving and entering Yatta, located near the West Bank city of al-Khalil. The PIC reporter affirmed that Israeli army started Thursday evening implementing the collective punishment measures on Yatta town and its 55,000 people.
Palestinian vehicles were stopped and searched at the entrances to the town before being denied entry into it, while several checkpoints were erected in surrounding areas of the town amid large presence of Israeli forces. More than 200 Palestinians have been killed at the hands of Israeli soldiers since the start of last October for allegedly carrying out or planning to carry out attacks on Israeli soldiers or settlers.

Statement by the Spokesperson for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ravina Shamdasani, regarding the Tel Aviv shooting:
The High Commissioner condemns the gun attack in Tel Aviv on Wednesday in which four Israelis were killed and a number were injured. This is the largest loss of Israeli life in a single attack since the current surge in violence.
We are also deeply concerned at the response of the Israeli authorities, which includes measures that may amount to prohibited collective punishment and will only increase the sense of injustice and frustration felt by Palestinians in this very tense time.
The response has included the cancelling of all 83,000 permits granted to West Bank and Gaza residents to travel during Ramadan, the suspension of 204 work permits of individuals in the alleged attackers’ extended families, and the sealing off of their entire home town by the Israeli security forces.
Israel has a human rights obligation to bring those responsible to account for their crimes. And this it is doing. However the measures taken against the broader population punish not the perpetrators of the crime, but tens – maybe hundreds – of thousands of innocent Palestinians.

The Israeli War Minister Avigdor Lieberman gave instructions for cordoning off the occupied West Bank starting midnight Thursday. Restrictions on the Palestinians include banning Gazans above 50 years old from performing Friday prayers at the holy al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) also ruled for banning Palestinian workers and holders of work permits from entering 1948 Occupied Palestine.
The IOA reneged on its promises to ease restrictions on Gazans and secure Friday prayers at the al-Aqsa. Public Relations and Media Director at the Civil Affairs Committee, Muhammad al-Mukadmeh, said the IOA updated them on their decision to cancel all weekly visits to al-Aqsa scheduled for Gazans and to ban those aged above 50 from praying at the Mosque.
He added that the restrictions were issued following Wednesday’s shooting attack in Tel Aviv.
