The Israeli cabinet on Thursday evening imposed a complete siege on Yatta town south of al-Khalil along with a series of sweeping restrictions on Palestinian movement, including the suspension of special Ramadan permits, following a shooting at a Tel Aviv cafe that killed four Israelis.
The cabinet also decided to deploy hundreds of additional troops in the West Bank, while Israeli war minister Avigdor Lieberman ordered that the bodies of all alleged Palestinian attackers or would-be attackers not be returned for burial.
COGAT, the Israeli military body responsible for civilian affairs in the occupied territories, said that 83,000 permits for Palestinians in the West Bank to visit relatives in Israel had been frozen.
Special Ramadan permits were also suspended for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to visit relatives in Israel, travel abroad, and attend prayers at the Al Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.
In addition, the Israeli military said it had frozen Israeli work permits for 205 of the alleged attackers’ relatives and was preventing Palestinians from leaving and entering Yatta, located near the West Bank city of al-Khalil. The PIC reporter affirmed that Israeli army started Thursday evening implementing the collective punishment measures on Yatta town and its 55,000 people.
Palestinian vehicles were stopped and searched at the entrances to the town before being denied entry into it, while several checkpoints were erected in surrounding areas of the town amid large presence of Israeli forces. More than 200 Palestinians have been killed at the hands of Israeli soldiers since the start of last October for allegedly carrying out or planning to carry out attacks on Israeli soldiers or settlers.

The Israeli occupation police on Wednesday decided not to allow funerals and burials for Palestinian martyrs from east Jerusalem in their neighborhoods or town and to choose the Muslim cemeteries they would be buried in.
Yedioth Ahronoth website said this decision was taken following the funeral of martyr Alaa Abu Jamal several weeks when about 200 persons gathered at the Jabel Mukaber cemetery and chanted incitement slogans against Israel and support for the deceased, whom it described as a "terrorist".
After reporting what happened at that funeral, minister of public security Gilad Erdan ordered a freeze on returning the bodies of "terrorists" to their families until the incident could be investigated and new conditions could be imposed to ensure funerals would not contain incitement.
The new decision, which has received the minister's approval, will allow the police to decide the location of the funeral and have full control over the attendees and their actions, according to the newspaper.

An appeal was filed to the Israeli Supreme Court to push for the release of the bodies of eight slain Palestinian youths, lawyer Muhammad Alyan said Sunday.
The Israeli court is expected to set a time limit for the police to release the bodies of the eight Palestinians.
A couple of weeks ago, the Israeli Minister of Internal Security ruled for keeping the bodies of slain Palestinian youths in Israeli refrigerators, contravening an Israeli court decision issued on May 5.
The Israeli occupation authorities have been withholding the bodies of at least eight Palestinian youths, preventing their families from bidding them last farewell and according them appropriate burial rituals.

Israeli authorities on Friday afternoon returned the body of a 17-year-old Palestinian girl shot dead by Israeli forces during an alleged stab attack on Monday, according to Palestinian sources.
The body of 17-year-old Sawsan Daoud Ali Mansour was turned over to her family at the al-Jib military checkpoint north of Jerusalem, and taken in a Palestinian ambulance to the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah where dozens of people from her hometown village of Biddu were waiting. They lifted her body and marched in the hallways of the medical complex chanting slogans in condemnation of Israel.
The required medical check-ups, and a CT scan of the body were made in the presence of the forensic doctor.
Her funeral is expected to be held this evening.
Mansour, who was expected to begin the first of her final high school exams on Saturday, was killed by Israeli forces on Monday at the Ras Biddu military roadblock, north of Jerusalem, after she allegedly attempted to carry out a stabbing attack against an Israeli border policewoman.
Her body has since been held at the Ofer detention center in the village of Beituniya west of the central West Bank district of Ramallah.
Sources said her body would be taken to the Ramallah Governmental Hospital before being buried in the town of Biddu northwest of Jerusalem City.
The anticipated return of Mansour’s body comes just days after Israeli Minister of Public Security Gilad Erdan announced that he had ordered Israeli police to suspend the return of bodies of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces, after seeing footage of a crowd gathering outside the funeral of one such slain Palestinian, chanting “God is Great”, something Erdan deemed as “incitement”.
A spokesperson for the Israeli ministry of public security was not available for immediate comment on reasons for Mansour's body being returned during the suspension or if the suspension had been removed.
Israel currently holds the bodies of at least a dozen Palestinians, including six Jerusalemites, killed by Israeli forces since October while they were allegedly committing or attempting to commit attacks.
Israel dramatically increased its policy of withholding bodies since the beginning of a wave of unrest across the occupied Palestinian territory since October -- which has killed more than 200 Palestinians and nearly 30 Israelis -- although it has scaled back on the policy in recent months.

Palestinian families called on the Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) to release the bodies of their offspring who were killed in the anti-occupation uprising, which started in early October.
Lawyer Muhammad Mahmoud, from Ad-Dameer institution, appealed to the Israeli prosecution to urge the Internal Security Minister Gilad Erdan to cancel Tuesday’s decision that stipulated freezing the release of Palestinians’ bodies.
The lawyer added that Israeli claims on breaches of the terms of the release and incitement during funeral processions are sheer fabrication.
Earlier, on May 5, the Israeli Supreme Court in Occupied Jerusalem issued recommendations to gradually release the bodies of slain Palestinian youths before the advent of the holy Ramadan month.
The bodies of nine Palestinian youths, aged between 17 and 22 and who were killed by the Israeli occupation army during the anti-occupation Jerusalem Intifada, are still withheld by the IOA.

Israeli Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan alleged that the family of Ala Abu Jamal, that buried its son, Tuesday, after Israeli held his body for seven months after he was killed by the army “violated the terms of his burial.” The minister ordered a halt on the transfer of the remaining bodies of slain Palestinians to their families in Jerusalem.
Mohammad Mahmoud, the lawyer of the Ad-Dameer Prisoners’ Support and Human Rights Association, rejected Erdan’s allegations, and said that there are many parties in Israel that are trying to stop the transfer of slain Palestinians to their families, as a punishment to them.
Mahmoud added that the Abu Jamal family fully abided by the imposed Israeli preconditions; the process started with two family members identifying his corpse in the Oz Police station at the main entrance of Jabal al-Mokabber town, then during the official transfer at the town’s graveyard gate, his burial ceremony and the 40.000 bail that they had to pay.
He also said that 50 family members participated in the funeral, and that the other Palestinians were gathered around the area, participated in the prayers in the local mosque, and never entered or approached the graveyard.
“Erdan is not even in the country, he is traveling abroad, and now he is pushing for more punishment against bereaved families,” Mahmoud stated, “The Police never informed him of any decision or event that would cause a delay or obstruct in the transfer of the bodies of other slain Palestinians; the transfer was ordered in a decision made by the Supreme Court.”
Mahmoud also said that, directly after returning to the country, Erdan would be meeting with Israeli security and police officials, especially those who supervised the transfer and funeral – “they all know and saw how the family abided by all preconditions imposed on them.”
Erdan alleged that “the families lied to the Supreme Court,” and said – “it is a shame that the court believed them and pressured the police into releasing the bodies before the upcoming Muslim month of Ramadan.”
It is worth mentioning that Israel is still holding the bodies of six slain Palestinians, identified as;
