UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was "dismayed" yesterday by civilian casualties in Gaza caused by Israeli airstrikes, and also "deeply disturbed" by Israel's levelling to the ground of a tower containing international media outlets in Gaza, a spokesman said in a statement released Saturday.
Guterres spoke as Israel escalated its aggression on the Gaza Strip on Saturday dawn killing 10 members of an extended family in Shati refugee camp, and as the occupying state demolished a 13-floor Gaza building housing Qatar-based Al Jazeera Network and the Associated Press news agency.
"The Secretary-General is dismayed by the increasing number of civilian casualties, including the death of ten members of the same family, including children, as a result of an Israeli airstrike last night in the al-Shati camp in Gaza, purportedly aimed at a Hamas leader," his spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, said in the statement.
Guterres was "also deeply disturbed by the destruction by an Israeli airstrike today of a high-rise building in Gaza City that housed the offices of several international media organizations as well as residential apartments," Dujarric continued.

Italian port workers in the city of Livorno have refused to load a shipment of weapons and explosives after discovering it was destined for the Israeli port of Ashdod.
“The port of Livorno will not be an accomplice in the massacre of the Palestinian people,” said L’Unione Sindacale di Base (USB), an Italian trade union of port workers.
The USB added that the ship contained weapons and explosives that will serve to kill the Palestinian civilians, already hit by a severe attack that has killed hundreds of civilian victims, including many children.
A report by The Weapon Watch, a Genoa-based NGO that monitors arms shipments in European and Mediterranean ports, informed the union of the destination of the ship and its contents.
The NGO urged the Italian government to consider whether it was "suspending some or all Italian military exports to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict areas.”
Although the shipment eventually embarked its journey to Naples, as most other port workers continued to load the ship, other Italian workers groups have called for increased coordination between port workers to prevent shipment of weapons that could be used to bomb Gaza.

Tens of thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters took to the streets yesterday in Los Angeles, Boston, Philadelphia and other US cities to demand an end to the ongoing Israeli aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip.
In Los Angeles, thousands of people shut down traffic on a major thoroughfare as they marched two miles from outside the federal building to the Israeli consulate. The protesters waved signs that said “free Palestine” and shouted “long live intifada,” or uprising.
In San Francisco, a raucous crowd banged drums and yelled “Palestine will be free” as they marched across the Mission district to Dolores Park.
A similar scene played out in Boston as protesters walked a short distance from Copley Square to the Israeli Consulate for New England, blocking traffic.
Footage on social media shows protesters unfurl a banner in the colors of the Palestinian flag with the words “Free Palestine” while standing on top of the awning of the building where the consulate is located.
In New York, a protest that started in a neighborhood in the Bay Ridge neighborhood of Brooklyn which has a large Arabic-speaking community, continued through the streets for several hours on Saturday afternoon.
Footage on social media showed people had climbed up the poles of street lights to wave flags while others set off fireworks. As the sun set, some protesters walked onto the Interstate 278 shutting down traffic in at least on direction, according to video posted online.
Bella Hadid, a well-known Palestinian-American model, participated in the Brooklyn protest.
In Atlanta, hundreds of pro-Palestinian demonstrators, including grandparents, teenagers and mothers and fathers with youngsters in tow, assembled downtown to wave signs and chant slogans, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported.
One sign read, “We can’t breathe since 1948” — a nod to the racial injustice and police brutality protests in the U.S. during the past year in the wake of George Floyd’s death in police custody after he couldn’t breathe, the newspaper reported.
In Washington, thousands of protesters streamed from the Washington Monument and to the National Archives. In Philadelphia, demonstrators filled Rittenhouse Square to decry U.S. support for Israel.
At a protest in Pittsburgh, one speaker called on lawmakers to put restrictions on how Israel can spend aid from the United States.

Three more dead bodies for innocent Palestinian civilians were pulled out from the rubble of the homes levelled to the ground last night by Israeli warplanes in the neighborhood of Al-Rimal in Gaza City, raising the death toll of the latest airstrikes on the neighborhood to seven.
The number could rise as civil defense teams are searching for any more people who might be trapped under the rubble.
Over 40 other civilians have also been injured in the Israeli airstrikes on the neighborhood, located on the west side of Gaza City.
The latest Israeli airstrikes, in addition to those carried out over the past five days, have caused significant damage to infrastructure, including electricity networks and roads, cutting the geographic connection between major neighborhoods in the coastal enclave.
Entire buildings, homes and apartments were levelled to the ground by Israeli warplanes and artillery during the ongoing Israeli aggression which mainly targets the civil population.
The latest figures bring up the number of Palestinians killed since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on Gaza last week to 145, including dozens of children and women, and the wounded to 1050.

Rashida Tlaib
US lawmakers tweeted yesterday against Israel's ongoing aggression on Gaza, including an airstrike which completely destroyed and levelled to the ground the Al-Jalaa Tower which housed international media offices, including the office of the Al Jazeera Network.
US Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib tweeted that "Israel targeting media sources is so the world can't see Israel's war crimes led by the apartheid-in-chief Netanyahu."
"It's so the world can't see the killing of babies, children and their parents. It's so the world can't see Palestinians being massacred."
Rep. Ilhan Omar said in a tweet that it was "disgusting and immoral for the US to endorse this violent bloodshed."
"I don’t know any other time when the US has actively blocked a ceasefire and allowed for civilians to get slaughtered."
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted that "this is happening with the support of the United States. I don’t care how any spokesperson tries to spin this.
The US vetoed the UN call for ceasefire."
"If the Biden admin can’t stand up to an ally, who can it stand up to? How can they credibly claim to stand for human rights?" she wondered.
Rep. Bernie Sanders also tweeted: "If the United States is going to be a credible voice on human rights on the global stage, we must uphold international standards of human rights consistently. We must recognize that Palestinian rights matter. Palestinian lives matter."

Dr. Ashraf al-Qedra, the spokesperson of the Health Ministry in Gaza, has reported that the ongoing Israeli offensive on Gaza has led, so far, to the death of 145 Palestinians, including 41 children and 23 women, in addition to the injury of at least 1100 Palestinians, including 313 children and 206 women.
During a press conference in Gaza, Saturday, the sixth day of Israel’s onslaught on the Gaza Strip, Dr. al-Qedra stated that Israel is deliberately targeting civilians, bombing, and shelling homes, apartment buildings, residential towers, and various civilian facilities, including medical centers.
He added that dozens of Palestinians have been mutilated by the Israeli missiles and shells, and stated that at dawn, Saturday, the army obliterated 10 members of Abu Hatab and al-Hadeedi families, killing ten, including a mother and four children.
“The world is witnessing this war of annihilation of our people, killing entire families, and wounding dozens,” Dr. al-Qedra stated, “The Israeli missiles and shells have wiped out 10 families of 38 Palestinians, including 21 children and 11 women, in addition to wounding dozens.”
He also said that the ongoing closure of Gaza’s terminals has led to shutting down power stations, in addition to the serious damage to electricity grids due to Israel’s bombardment, which directly impacts the hospitals and medical centers, especially operation wards, incubators, and other vital medical equipment.
Dr. al-Qedra called on the international community to ensure the end of Israel’s aggression, and the reopening of all border terminals, to allow the entry of medical supplies and the transfer of wounded Palestinians to hospitals outside of the Gaza Strip.
“The direct, and indirect, targeting of medical centers and facilities, including Beit Hanoun hospital, is a grave threat to the lives of the people, in addition to Israel’s constant targeting of ambulances and medical teams,” he stated, “Israel continues to violate International Law and all related human rights treaties and legal agreements, which requires a serious and practical intervention from the international community.”
He also stated that the displaced families, currently in emergency centers that were set up to temporarily shelter them after the army destroyed their homes, are facing serious shortages of basic supplies, amidst the rising fear of more coronavirus infections, which raises further fears of a third wave of infections and deaths.
Dr. al-Qedra called on international human rights and health groups, to provide the urgently needed medical aid, including machines, medicine, and other essential supplies, as the coronavirus and the Israeli onslaught are continuing to claim more lives.
