Ismail Haneyya, the political bureau chairman of Hamas, discussed in phone calls with state leaders and political officials on Tuesday the recent developments in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and the Gaza Strip.
Haneyya telephoned the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawwaf Al-Sabah and explained the current situation in the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Gaza Strip.
He briefed the Emir on the Israeli occupation’s attempt to displace Palestinians from the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Jerusalem, within attempts to Judaize the holy city, altering its landmarks and controlling Al-Aqsa Mosque by trying to hold Israeli celebrations inside the holy Islamic site during the last ten days of the blessed month of Ramadan.
The Hamas leader appreciated Kuwait’s position on all official and popular levels in support of Al-Aqsa and the Jerusalemites.
For his part, Sheikh Al-Sabah said, “The Palestine issue is our topmost issue and we stand by the Palestinian right.”
He explained that he would assign the Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs to exert efforts in various regional and international forums to work on halting the occupation’s actions.
In another phone call on Tuesday afternoon, Haneyya discussed with Lebanese President Michel Aoun the Israeli plans related to the evacuation of citizens in Sheikh Jarrah, the attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites and the crimes committed in the Gaza Strip and the killing of children.
He praised the Lebanese stance towards Palestine, Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa, and affirmed that efforts would continue at all levels to stop the occupation plans in Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa and its crimes against citizens in Gaza.
Furthermore, the Hamas leader phoned the head of the Iranian Shura Council, Muhammad Baqir Qalibaf, and talked about the recent field developments and the “Zionist” attacks against civilians in the Gaza Strip.
He stressed that the Israeli occupation’s decision to displace Palestinians from the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood should be revoked and the policy of Judaization, settlement, demolition, and the incursions of Al-Aqsa must be stopped.
For his part, Qalibaf expressed full solidarity with the Palestinian people, condemning the recent Israeli violations in Al-Aqsa Mosque.
He said that he would communicate with all world parliaments to discuss the aggression in Jerusalem and the dangerous developments in Gaza.

Israeli warplanes destroyed on Tuesday two factories and a company during their aerial strikes on the Gaza Strip that have been ongoing for the second day in a row.
The Palestinian Ministry of National Economy said in a statement that the bombing hit the Abu Asr ice factory near the Kuwait roundabout in the Zaytoun neighborhood, the Abu Al Khair factory, east of Jabalia, and the Hamada ceramic company, all in Gaza City.
The ministry condemned the targeting of factories and economic establishments in the Strip, stressing that the Israeli occupation deliberately targets factories to destroy the economic infrastructure in the beleaguered enclave.
The Israeli occupation's destruction of factories and economic facilities caused dozens of workers to lose their jobs, the ministry added.
It called on the international community to provide protection for economic facilities and to block the occupation from targeting industrial areas.
Meanwhile, the ministry mourned the martyrs of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip due to the continuous Israeli bombing and wished a speedy recovery for the wounded.
It called on the world to intervene urgently and immediately to stop the war against the innocent citizens of besieged Gaza.

The Israeli occupation army last night and at dawn Monday bombed several sites in different areas of the embattled Gaza Strip.
Reporters for the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) said the Israeli artillery units behind the eastern border fence fired several projectiles at observation points in the east of southern and northern Gaza.
A spokesperson for the Israeli army said that the artillery attacks were in response to the launch of rockets and balloons from Gaza towards Israeli areas.

Several Gazan young men suffered injuries on Saturday night after the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) attacked them as they rallied on the border in solidarity with Jerusalem, its people and the Aqsa Mosque.
According to the local media in Gaza, hundreds of young people rallied in different areas of the eastern Gaza border and participated in nightly confusion activities and protests in support of Jerusalem, which is exposed nowadays to frenzied Israeli aggression
The IOF fired rubber bullets at the young protesters and showered them with tear gas and stun grenades as they torched rubber tires and throw homemade fire bombs towards the Israeli side of the border.
Gazan youths also embarked, on Saturday evening and at dawn Sunday, on flying helium balloons affixed with flaming materials towards the occupied territories near Gaza.
Such activities started to take place after Gazan youth groups announced their intention on social media to resume using all protest means on the border to express solidarity with Jerusalem.
In a related incident, an Israeli warplane at dawn Sunday bombed a Palestinian resistance post in the east of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza.
A spokesperson for the Israeli army claimed that the aerial attack was in response to the fall of a Palestinian rocket in an open Israeli area near the Gaza border.
Such developments in Gaza happened after another night of Israeli police violence left dozens of Palestinians wounded in the Old City of Jerusalem and the nearby neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.
However, an estimated 90,000 Muslim worshippers on Saturday prayed at the Aqsa Mosque on the holy night of Laylat al-Qadr, the most sacred of prayers during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.
Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation police on Sunday gave the green light to Monday’s annual “Jerusalem reunification day” parade, a flag-waving display of Israeli claims to all of the city, despite the rising friction and potential for further violence, according to al-Jazeera satellite channel.
Monday’s parade is typically attended by extremist and violent Jewish settlers and is widely perceived as provocative.

Israeli soldiers fired, Saturday, many live rounds and concussion grenades at Palestinian farmers near Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, while Israeli navy ships attacked fishing boats near Gaza city.
Media sources said the soldiers fired many live rounds and concussion grenades into Palestinian lands, close to the perimeter fence, east of Khan Younis.
The attack did not lead to casualties but forced the Palestinian farmers to leave their lands in fear of further escalation.
In addition, Israeli navy ships attacked Palestinian fishing boats with live fire and water cannons, only three nautical miles from the shore in the Sudaniyya area, west of Gaza city.
Eyewitnesses said the attack caused damage to at least one boat and forced the Palestinians back to the shore without being able to fish and provide for their families.
The attacks are part of frequent Israeli violations against the Palestinians, especially the fishermen, farmers, shepherds, and workers in the besieged and impoverished Gaza Strip, and have led to dozens of casualties, including fatalities, in addition to serious property damage and the confiscation of many boats after abducting the fishermen.

Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, has warned that it will not remain silent on Israel’s aggression against its people in Sheikh Jarrah and will make it pay dearly for its crimes in the east Jerusalem neighborhood.
“The leadership of the resistance and al-Qassam is keenly following what is happening (in Sheikh Jarrah) and the chief of staff (of al-Qassam Brigades) sends a clear and final warning to the occupation and its settlers that if their aggression against our people in Sheikh Jarrah did not stop immediately, we would not stand idly by with our hands folded,” a spokesman for the Brigades conveyed the warning from al-Qassam chief of staff Mohamed al-Deif in Telegram remarks.
The spokesman also said that the Palestinian resistance spearheaded by al-Qassam Brigades would make “the enemy pay dearly” for its actions in Sheikh Jarrah.
Dozens of Palestinians are facing imminent dispossession from their homes in the occupied east Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah
Although the international law stipulates that the Israeli judicial system has no legal authority over the population it occupies, the Israeli district court in Occupied Jerusalem recently ruled that at least six families must vacate their homes in Sheikh Jarrah on May 2, despite living there for generations.
The same court also ruled that seven other families should leave their homes by August 1. In total, 58 people, including 17 children, are set to be forcibly displaced to make way for Jewish settlers.
According to a recent report published by al-Jazeera satellite channel, these court rulings are “a culmination of a decades-long struggle for these Palestinians to stay in their homes. In 1972, several Jewish settler organizations filed a lawsuit against the Palestinian families living in Sheikh Jarrah, alleging the land originally belonged to Jews.”
“These groups, mostly funded by donors from the United States, have waged a relentless battle that resulted in the displacement of 43 Palestinians in 2002, as well as the Hanoun and Ghawi families in 2008 and the Shamasneh family in 2017,” al-Jazeera explained.
“In 1956, 28 Palestinian refugee families displaced from their homes in the coastal cities of Yafa and Haifa eventually settled in the Karm al-Jaouni area in Sheikh Jarrah.”
“The West Bank, including east Jerusalem, at the time was under the mandate of Jordan, which struck an agreement with the UN agency for refugees (UNRWA) to build housing units for these families. The deal stipulated the families were to renounce their refugee status in return for land deeds signed in their names after three years of living in the area.”
“However, that did not take place and in 1967 Jordan lost its mandate as east Jerusalem was occupied by Israel,” al-Jazeera elaborated.
Al-Jazeera quoted Khalil Tufakji, a Palestinian cartographer and expert on Jerusalem, as saying that he travelled to Ankara in 2010 to search in the Ottoman-era archives for a document that negates any Jewish ownership of Karm al-Jaouni.
“I found the deed and presented it to the Israeli district court, which promptly rejected it,” Tufakji told al-Jazeera.
After more digging, Tufakji found out in 1968 that Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, issued a decree – signed by the finance minister at the time – which stated that Israel was bound to the Jordan-UNRWA agreement.
“This fact is what has been raised to the Jerusalem high court on behalf of the Palestinian families in Sheikh Jarrah,” he said, but added that there was a little reason to believe the court would rule in favor of them.
“Israeli courts – judge, jury and legislation – are all in the service of the Jewish settlers,” he said.

Israeli gunboats on Monday morning opened fire at Palestinian fishermen and tried to sink their boats using water cannons during their presence off the coast of Gaza City.
According to local sources, the gunboats attacked the fishermen as they were working within only three nautical miles off the shore of as-Sudaniya area in the north of Gaza City.
Naval forces fired live ammunition and water cannons at the fishermen’s boats and forced them to return ashore.
One fishing boat reportedly sustained damage during the attack.
Israeli naval forces and their gunboats are around Gaza fishermen almost every day, harassing them, shooting at them, damaging their boats, and making arrests. Sometimes fishermen are injured or killed during gunfire attacks.
Under the 1993 Oslo accords, Palestinian fishermen are permitted to fish up to 20 nautical miles off the coast of Gaza, but since then Israel has kept reducing the fishing area gradually to a limit between six to three nautical miles as part of its blockade on Gaza.
Fishermen and human rights groups also say that since the 2008-09 war in Gaza, the Israeli army has been regularly enforcing a limit even closer to the shore.
