Al-Aqsa TV Channel protested Monday before the French Cultural Center in Gaza France's decision to stop Al-Aqsa Channel's frequencies on Eutelsat satellite in response to a request from the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The protest tent is going to be held for three days, according to the programs director of al-Aqsa channel Samir Abu Mohsen, to demand France to reverse its decision.
Political resolution
Al-Aqsa TV deputy director, Muhammad Thuraya, confirmed that Israel prosecutes and brutalizes Palestinian media people. He insisted that stopping al-Aqsa frequencies is a "political decision". Thuraya considered the Israeli prosecution of the Palestinian media a sign of the pain the Intifada has inflicted on Israel. He expressed regret over the world community's subservience to the Israeli lobby, while it champions the journalists' freedom of speech. "We don't antagonize a group, a religion or a gender. We have no problems with anyone; our only problem is with our occupier," he said. Thuraya concluded with a message to France, "Reverse your decision."
Unfortunate position
Salama Marouf, Director General of the Government Media Office, denied what he called "the organized attack" by Israel against the media, affirming that the attacks have increased since the start of al-Quds Intifada. He said, "At the French cultural center, we expressed our sorrow that we stood in solidarity with France during the terror attacks." He wondered, "How could France, which calls for freedom of speech, abide by the Israeli occupation requests?" Marouf condemned the French decision, referring to the Israeli mini-cabinet's resolution to target the Palestinian media. He also asked the Palestinians to support the Palestinian media, demanding the PA to allow more freedom for the media.
The Intifada will continue
Emad al-Efranji, Director of the Palestinian Journalists' Forum, addressed Netanyahu saying that silencing the media will not stop the Intifada. He said, "Our media doesn't incite; it delivers the truth of the Israeli extrajudicial executions of Palestinian youths, women, and children in the occupied West Bank." Al-Efranji deplored that France, which claims its commitment to the values of freedom, democracy and peace, yields to Netanyahu's requests. He described the French decision against al-Aqsa Channel as a stigma to the French government and the world, which claim defending freedom of speech.
International complicity
Daoud Shehab, spokesman for Islamic Jihad, refused the French decision, stating, "The French message is for the victim to be beaten and killed in silence." He viewed the resolution as an "international complicity targeting the Palestinian media". Nonetheless, Shehab insisted that the Palestinian media will be free to raise the awareness of the Palestinian issue.
Outrageous behavior
The leader in Hamas Movement, Salah Bardawil, pointed out that the role of al-Aqsa and Palestine Today Channels is to expose the Israeli injustice and maltreatment against the Palestinians. He said, "We are silenced as we demand justice. But the Palestinian people are not used to surrendering to any French or American resolution." He said that the French decision does not reflect humanity, civilization or freedom. He concluded, "We will continue to resist in Palestine and to defend the Palestinian cause."

The Head of the General Prosecutors’ Office in Hebron Ashraf Mashal has reported that autopsies performed on the three Palestinians, who were killed by the Israeli military on Monday in Hebron, revealed that the soldiers fired an excessive number of bullets into the Palestinians, even after killing them.
Several similar incidents, captured on video, reveal a systematic policy of executions that include the use of ‘overkill’, firing numerous additional bullets into Palestinians who were already dead.
Mashal told a Maan News Agency correspondent in Hebron that the Forensic Department head in the southern part of the West Bank, Ashraf al-Qadi, as well as General Prosecutor Majdi Reb’ey and Deputy prosecutor Fuad al-‘Awawda, attended the autopsy.
The three Palestinians who were killed by the Israeli forces in two separate incidents on Monday are Qassem Farid Jaber, 31, Amir Fuad al-Juneidi, 22, and Yousef Waleed Tarayra, 18.
Mashal testified that the Israeli soldiers fired many live rounds into the heads of the three Palestinians, and also fired many live rounds into various parts of their bodies.
These deaths are similar to various previous incidents when the army, or paramilitary Israeli settlers, not only fired an excessive number of bullets, but actually executed the Palestinians after already shooting and completely incapacitating them.

Mohammad Abu Khalaf
One of the most recent similar cases, is the fatal shooting of Mohammad Abu Khalaf, 20 years of age, who was killed in occupied Jerusalem, on February 19, 2016, and his death was caught on tape by Al-Jazeera. The video shows how Abu Khalaf was first shot with two live rounds, followed by dozens more shots after he was already injured and bleeding on the ground. The Qatar-based Al-Jazeera crew in occupied Jerusalem said they witnessed the execution. |
The Al-Jazeera crew was filming a documentary in the area when the shooting took place right behind them, and shifted the focus of the camera on the unfolding events, capturing the horrific execution of the Palestinian with many bullets after he was already shot and incapacitated.

Hadeel Wajeeh ‘Awwad, 16
Another case was the fatal shooting of Hadeel Wajeeh ‘Awwad, 16, from the Qalandia refugee camp, north of occupied Jerusalem, who was shot and killed, on November 23, 2015, after she and her friend attempted a stabbing attack. Her death, and the serious injury of her friend, was captured on surveillance video, where it clearly shows that after they were both shot and struck, and were disabled on the ground, the armed Israelis repeatedly shot them, killing Hadeel and seriously wounding her friend. |

Mahdi Mohammad Ramadan al-Mohtasib
A similar case of execution is the incident that led to the death of Mahdi Mohammad Ramadan al-Mohtasib, who was killed by the army on October 29, 2015, in Hebron city, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank. The video of his execution clearly shows how Al-Mohtasib was first shot and wounded, and was already on the ground in pain, when a soldier approached him and fired a second deadly shot. |

A funeral procession was held on Monday afternoon in the town of Bani Naim east of Hebron in the southern occupied West Bank for an 18-year-old who was shot dead earlier on Monday during an alleged attempted vehicular attack.
The teenager, identified as Yousif Walid Tarayra, was given a military funeral by the Palestinian Authority.
PA military vehicles paraded from al-Ahli hospital to the Ras al-Jurah neighborhood. Tarayra's body was then taken to Bani Naim, the teenager's hometown, where family and friends awaited his remains.
After prayers at the town’s main mosque, mourners marched to the town’s cemetery where Tarayra was laid to rest.
Participants in the funeral shouted slogans urging Palestinian resistance to retaliate against “Israeli crimes on the Palestinian people.”
Tarayra was shot dead shortly after two other Palestinians were shot and killed after allegedly opening fire on Israeli forces waiting at a bus stop near the settlement of Kiryat Arba on the outskirts of Hebron.
The two were identified as Qasem Farid Jaber and Ameer Fuad al-Junaidi.
Several hours after the attacks, Israeli forces raided the homes of Jaber and al-Junaidi. Forces also briefly closed off the main entrance to Bani Naim village.
Over 190 Palestinians and 30 Israelis have been killed since violence increased in the occupied Palestinian territory and Israel in October, with a wave of small-scale attacks and attempted attacks, the majority carried out by Palestinian individuals on Israeli military targets.

The Israeli police intensified during the last two years the use of a dangerous type of foam bullets against the Palestinians, resulting in killing one Palestinian and increasing the number of the Palestinians injured.
However, no charges were filed against police officers for violating the laws on the uses of this type of bullets. The Israeli newspaper Haaretz said on Sunday that the police fired about 60 thousand black sponge-tipped bullets during the last two years, the majority of which are of a new type and more dangerous.
Haaretz pointed out that more than ten Palestinians from Jerusalem have lost their eyes because of these dangerous bullets, others suffered from fractures in their faces, their hands and feet, while one of the wounded suffered serious damage in the brain.
Another two Palestinians suffered from ruptures of the spleen and liver as a result to being shot with this type of bullets, it elaborated.
According to the data handed over by the Israeli police to the Association for Civil Rights in Israel, under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), the police fired more than 35 thousand sponge-tipped bullets in 2014, mostly in eastern Jerusalem, and 22 thousand bullets of the same type last year.
In 2013, the police fired 7,162 sponge-tipped bullets, 5,859 in 2012, 3,608 in 2011. Data showed that the police had been using blue sponge-tipped bullets before but since 2014 they have been using the same type of bullets but in black, which are heavier and more dangerous.
In the past year the rate of the usage of these bullets has increased to about 94%, according to the newspaper. According to Haaretz, as a result of the use of this dangerous type of foam bullets, dozens of Palestinians were wounded, including minors and children.
By this practice the Israeli police are violating their own systems, though no accusation of violating regulations was drawn against any policeman. In order to justify the use of this dangerous type of foam bullets, the Israeli police claims that the purpose of using such bullets is to protect the lives of policemen from any threat, while the police regulations prohibit using this type of bullets towards the elderly, children, and pregnant women, and, if used, it should be shot towards the lower part of the body but the police have violated all of these instructions.
The Israeli Police Investigation Unit has opened until today 15 investigation files related to the use of this type of dangerous bullets, but it closed four files of them, and the investigation is still underway on the other files, including the case of the death of a child and cases of several others wounded.

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Sunday evening reclosed all entrances to Qabalan town, southeast of Nablus, amid intensive military presence in nearby areas.
Local sources told the Palestinian Information Center (IOF) that the IOF tightened the closure of Qabalan's entrances with mounds of dirt and rocks after the residents removed some roadblocks for the movement of cars.
They added that area had seen intensive military overflights and activities in the evening. The IOF also established roadblocks in nearby areas, which made it difficult for the Palestinians to leave and enter the villages of Yatma, Talfit, Jalud and Qaryout.
At dawn Saturday, the IOF raided several homes in Qabalan town and interrogated residents on site. The IOF closed the roads leading to Qabalan town as mass punishment against the residents after one of them carried out a stabbing attack in Occupied Jerusalem on Saturday.
In a separate incident, the IOF on Sunday night set up military barriers on roads west and south of Jenin city and intercepted Palestinian vehicles and citizens.
Local sources told the PIC that Israeli soldiers erected barriers on the Jenin-Haifa road near the entrance to Zabuba town and the road leading to Barta'a town, south of Jenin, and embarked on searching passing cars and interrogating passengers.

Journalist Ibrahim Jradat
Executive manager of the Filastin al-Yawm TV Channel, Nafed Abu Hasna, said the press team will keep broadcasting facts on the ground despite Israel’s incessant threats.
Speaking to the PIC by phone, Abu Hasna said the Israeli intelligence not only closed the Filastin al-Yawm TV office and arrested its director Farouq Alyat along with other journalists; it has also started to threaten journalists with arrests in case they continue to work for the channel.
The Israeli occupation soldiers stormed the office of the Filastin al-Yawm channel in al-Bireh at dawn Friday and arrested its director. Journalist Ibrahim Jradat, working for channel, was also arrested at the Bir Nabala checkpoint on his way back home in northwestern Occupied Jerusalem.
“Israel’s crimes against Palestinian journalists and the war it has been waging on Palestinian mass media will never dampen the spirits of our team. Filastin al-Yawm journalists will keep covering facts as they occur on the ground,” said Abu Hasna.
“The Israeli occupation wants to pull the wool over the world’s eyes by quelling the Palestinian version of the national liberation struggle,” he added. “If our profession amounts to incitement then what does Israel’s daily terrorism against the Palestinians amount to?” he wondered.
Head of the Union of Palestinian Radio and Television, Salah al-Masri, also said the Israeli assaults on Filastin al-Yawm and al-Aqsa press teams make part of a preplanned campaign to suppress the freedom of speech in the occupied Palestinian territories.
“The Israeli occupation is quite aware of the vital role played by Palestinian media in transmitting to the world the tragedy endured by Palestinians along with Israel’s excessive use of force and arbitrary slaughters,” al-Masri noted.
“Israel started to close TV channels and radios to make up for its failure in snuffing out the flames of the anti-occupation intifada. Such has been Israel’s policies to score fake goals before its zealous public,” he further stated. Meanwhile, the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said journalist Farouq Alyat is being locked up in the Israeli Etzion detention center.
A hearing is expected to be held on Monday in the Ofer military court to decide on his case. The Israeli occupation authorities claimed that their decision to close the Filastin al-Yawm office comes against the backdrop of incitement to anti-occupation activism in the occupied West Bank.

rabbi Yitzhak Joseph
A chief Jewish rabbi said that all knife-wielding attackers should be killed, condemning a call by the head of the Israeli army to not use excessive firepower in preventing a wave of Palestinian attacks.
He called on the Jews not to be afraid of the courts, the chief of staff or security officials if they say something else, stressing that it is a religious duty to kill Palestinians carrying knives.
He made his remarks at the Yazadim synagogue in Occupied Jerusalem on Saturday. He was responding to chief of staff Gadi Eisenkot who urged last month soldiers to remain calm during attacks and not to use unnecessary force.
"When there is a 13-year-old girl holding scissors or a knife and there is some distance between her and the soldiers, I do not want to see a soldier open fire and empty his magazine at a girl like that," Eisenkot said. "Rather he should use the force necessary to fulfill the objective."

Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, has mourned the death of two children from the family of Abu Khusa in an Israeli raid on Saturday, affirming that their precious blood would not go in vain.
In a communique issued on Saturday, the Brigades warned that it would not tolerate Israel's persistence in shedding the blood of Palestinian children in full view of the whole world and without retribution, stressing that "its patience has its limits."
One of four Israeli air raids on Gaza at dawn Saturday claimed the lives of six-year-old Israa Abu Khusa and her brother Yasin, 10, and injured their elder brother, Ayoub.

The Israeli army imposed on Saturday night a partial siege on Beit Ur al-Tahta, where the gunman who attacked a military checkpoint on Friday was believed to have fled to following the incident, according to the Hebrew radio.
The army claimed it was only permitting residents to enter and exit the central West Bank village for humanitarian purposes.

The Detainee and Ex-detainee committee said, in a statement on Saturday, that the Israeli government formed what is called “Arab Cyber Force” in the Israeli police for the purpose of chasing Palestinian social networks.
The arrests were focused in Occupied Jerusalem in consistence with the Israeli policy of tightening the noose on Jerusalemite people. The committee revealed that the Israeli penalty for expressing political opinions on Facebook is either dismissing captives from their work positions inside 1948 Occupied Palestine or deporting them outside of their neighborhoods.
The committee considered such penalties as arbitrary confiscation of the right of expression.

Ambassador of Israel to the United Nations in Geneva Eviatar Manor slammed the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and called it “blind and suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder” in terms of issues related to Israel.
According to Israeli channel seven, Manor said that “the Council is about to commit suicide”, and urged it to pay attention to what is happening in dispute regions other than Israel like Syria and Yemen in which tens of thousands are killed.
The Council discussed on Friday a report on the Israeli violations and aggressive practices against Palestinians which did not please the ambassador who said that the UNHRC issued five decisions against Israel and did not issue any resolutions against other countries since January.

Al-Quds Intifada, PNN reports, refers to Palestinian resistance against the Israeli occupation over the past six months, in which almost 200 Palestinians were killed and thousands more injured.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his gratitude, on Saturday, to French President Francois Hollande, after the French government shut down a Hamas-affiliated television station that, according to the Israeli media, “aired content which constituted anti-Israel and anti-Jewish incitement.”
Netanyahu had earlier urged Hollande to end the transmission of Al Aksa television, the Hamas-run channel that was being broadcast on the French satellite service EUTELSAT -- also associated with Palestine Today TV, which was shut down in the occupied West Bank, on Friday.
According to the PNN, Israel’s Shin Bet internal spy agency said in a statement, on Friday, that the Ramallah offices were raided overnight, in a joint operation with the military over allegations that the channel “broadcasts on behalf of the Islamic Jihad,” a Gaza-based Palestinian resistance movement.
“The channel served the Islamic Jihad as a central means to incite the West Bank population, calling for terror attacks against Israel and its citizens. Incitement was broadcast on the television station as well as the Internet,” Shin Bet added.
Palestinian officials have denounced Israel’s closure of the offices. Yousef al-Mahmoud, Palestinian Authority spokesman, described the Israeli raid on Palestine Today TV station in Ramallah as “part of the aggressive occupation policy towards Palestinian media.
Dr. Hanan Ashrawi, member of Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) executive committee, also denounced the Israeli raid, saying it contravenes free speech rules.
The Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate made an official statement, as well.
“Incursions into areas under the Palestinian Authority’s control and attacking its sovereignty and media institution [are] a stark violation of basic human rights and international and humanitarian laws that have safeguarded freedom of speech,” she said.
Last November, Israeli soldiers broke into the headquarters of Al-Hurriyya Media Network, destroyed the offices, confiscated the tools and threatened to demolish the entire building if the network works again, accusing it of “inciting” Palestinians against the Israeli occupation.
The month previous, in October, Israeli soldiers raided the offices of the International Middle East Media Center and the Palestinian Center for Rapprochement.
Since the start of October 2015, almost 200 Palestinians have been killed, in addition to 30 Israelis, settlers and soldiers.
The current tension is ongoing since October, due to repetitive Israeli settler attacks on Al-Aqsa mosque, the third holiest place in Islam, and Israeli restrictions over Palestinian entrance, in addition to the Douma arson attack which killed a baby and his parents on July 31.
Israeli forces have been criticized internationally, over recent months, for its ‘preemptive shootings’ of Palestinians alleged to be holding knives.
In addition several of the incidents in which the military has claimed that they were ‘attacked’ have proven to be false.
