The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Monday, said that Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman’s visit to Hizma checkpoint and vows to ease the travel process is an enforcement of the apartheid system in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
Lieberman, on Sunday, visited Hizma checkpoint into Jerusalem and promised to “streamline passage at West Bank crossings into Jerusalem, thereby easing the process for Palestinians who travel daily into the capital,” said The Times of Israel, according to WAFA.
The new Israeli defense minister said he visited the checkpoint to see for himself the difficulties facing those who use it, but the foreign ministry said the visit is simply an attempt to reinforce the existence of checkpoints, which disconnect the West Bank, facilitate Israeli settlers’ movement at the expense of Palestinians and connect illegal settlements with Israel.
Lieberman only visited Hizma checkpoint, but also addressed the situation at the biggest checkpoint in the West Bank Qalandia, through which tens of thousands of Palestinians cross daily on foot and by car.
“The problems at the Hizme and Qalandiya checkpoints, which plague residents of Jerusalem, the Binyamin Council, and Palestinians in the region, have clear solutions, both administrative and infrastructural,” Lieberman said.
However, the ministry said Lieberman tries to deceive the world by discussing “facilities for Israeli settlers and Palestinians” and neglects his repetitive Apartheid statements, which aim to create separate roads for illegal Israeli settlers and Palestinians on roads in the West Bank.
Since officially being appointed Israel’s minister of defense, Lieberman enforced several lengthy closures on towns and villages around Hebron and other Palestinians cities.
Over the years, hundreds of dunams of land belonging to Palestinians have been permanently confiscated from Palestinian owners to open new roads for the sole use of Israeli settlers in addition to hundreds of checkpoints, which obstruct movement.
The ministry condemned the Israeli policy, which aims to expand and take over Palestinians’ property and called on the international community to intervene and force Israel to cease its measures, which would eventually destroy the two-state solution and enforce occupation, settlements and the Apartheid system in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Born in Moldova, Avigdor Lieberman is one of the only foreign ministers in the world who does not live in territory officially recognized as his own country.
Originally under suspicion over charges of money-laundering and bribery, Lieberman was formally indicted in December of 2012, on lesser charges of fraud and breach of trust.
His party was recently the focus of a corruption probe within the Israeli political spectrum, and, more recently, Lieberman’s life was threatened with an assassination attempt.

At least 700 Palestinian and Israeli activists and other peace groups marched on Friday at the freedom march to mark the 10th anniversary of founding Combatants for Peace movement. Joining the protest today Alistair Little and Gerard Foster former combatants from both sides of the Irish conflict.
The march started from the entrance of Batier village to the south of Bethlehem city. People marched towards settlers road 60 and walked all the way to the tunnel checkpoint separating Bethlehem area from Jerusalem. During the march activists and members of CFP used hand-made poppets to close the settlers road and then used it during the protest as the chanted anti occupation slogans and demanded the end of occupation and the establishment of peace. During his speech at the checkpoint Mr. Ra’ed Haddar, coordinator of the |
regional groups of CFP, told the gathering” we are here to stay we are not leaving, we do not fear your weapons because we believe in justice and peace.”
From the Israeli side CFP activist Neta Hazan said “ As an Eastern woman , the daughter of Moroccan and Egyptian Jews, I feel that it is my duty to stand by my Palestinian sisters and brothers because their struggle is our struggle we, the Easterners, against repression , denial and towards equality and freedom . ”
Gerard Foster delivered also a speech and said” the fight for peace is a lonely road, sometimes you finds yourselves standing alone, but let me tell you, you are not alone, you inspire us all.”
At the last speech, Sami Awad, Director of the Palestinian NGO Holy Land Trust, spoke to the Israeli protesters and said ” to those Israelis who are here seeking peace with me because they are afraid of me, and want me to become less of a threat to them, I say go back to your home I do not want your peace. To those Israelis who are here because they believe in Peace, they believe in justices, they believe in freedom and equality, and they are ready to commit to talking and walking this path, I don’t only say welcome, abut also say my home is yours.”
At the end Mira Awad, a Palestinian Israeli singer preformed a song from the words of famous Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish.
CFP believes that the conflict cannot be resolved, through military means, by either of the parties, but only through joint action, can we break the cycle of violence and put an end to the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.
The movement calls for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem, based on the border of June 4, 1967, alongside Israel. CFP uses nonviolent means and call on both nations to join us to achieve peace and reconciliation between Palestinians and Israelis.

“Since over the past several years, you refused to meet me and sit down and negotiate peace, I hope you’ll hear this message,” the Israeli PM said, addressing the PA president.
Prime Minister Netanyahu has filmed a new video, uploaded to video-sharing website YouTube, in which he implores Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to denounce terrorism and work with Netanyahu towards the establishment of peace. “President Abbas,” Netanyahu began, “Since over the past several years, you refused to meet me and sit down and negotiate peace, I hope you’ll hear this message.” In the video, Netanyahu decried several examples of actions by Palestinian |
officials and prominent public institutions which encourage and embrace terrorists and/or terror activities, including statements made by Abbas’ advisor, Sultan Abu al Einein, and the upcoming dedication of a monument to terrorist Abu Sukar, a terrorist who bombed Jerusalem’s Zion Square in 1975, killing 14 people and wounding dozens more. “This will help educate future generations to love peace over war, compassion over violence. It will also help convince Israelis that they have a true partner for peace,” Netanyahu said.
The Israeli prime minister ended the video by accusing the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) of providing a monthly salary to anyone who murders Jews. “This money provides direct incentive to commit terror,” Netanyahu said, ”I ask that you stop paying murderers and instead use this money to fund co-existence education, teach tolerance not terror.”
“I will continue to work tirelessly for peace,” he concluded, “It’s time that you join this effort.”
-----------
President Abbas, Since over the past several years, you refused to meet me and sit down and negotiate peace, I hope you’ll hear this message.
First, your advisor, Sultan Abu al Einein recently called to slit the throat of every Israeli.
Three days later, a Palestinian terrorist turned these words into action when he slit the throat of a 13-year-old beautiful girl, Hallel Yaffa Ariel, as she slept. She was a little, innocent girl. She didn't deserve this. I ask that you fire this advisor because advocating genocide is not consistent with peace.
Second, your party recently praised a terrorist on Facebook who murdered 24 civilians, innocent Israelis in cold blood. I ask that you to pick up the phone and instruct your party's social media manager to stop praising mass murderers. Impressionable children read these posts. They should be taught harmony, not hate. Such words seriously harm the chances of peace.
Third, next week the Palestinian Authority will dedicate a monument to Abu Sukar. Abu Sukar murdered 15 people by detonating a refrigerator filled with explosives on a busy Jerusalem street. Rather than dedicate a statue to a mass-murderer, I ask that you consider honoring a champion of co-existence. This will help educate future generations to love peace over war, compassion over violence. It will also help convince Israelis that they have a true partner for peace.
Fourth, the PLO currently pays a monthly salary to anyone who murders Jews. This money provides direct incentive to commit terror. I ask that you stop paying murderers and instead use this money to fund co-existence education, teach tolerance not terror.
Fifth, every Israeli and Palestinian child deserves a life of hope, of tranquility and opportunity. I will continue to work tirelessly for peace. It’s time that you join this effort.

In response to the Palestinian-Jordanian draft decision this week that ignores the Jewish connection to its adherents' holiest site, the EU has circulated a different version that removes the scare quotes from 'Western Wall' but still only mentions the Muslim connection to the site.
The Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem is fuming over a draft decision distributed on Thursday by representatives of the European Union at meetings of UNESCO's World Heritage Committee in Istanbul on the subject of the Israeli capital's Old City that completely ignores the Jewish connection to the site.
The proposal is an alternative to the Jordanian-Palestinian one announced earlier this week. The Europeans distributed a document that allegedly partially softens this draft but still completely accepts the Palestinian narrative that the site that includes the Al-Aqsa Mosque is a site holy to Muslims alone.
While the European draft does mention the Western Wall outside of scare quotes, unlike the Palestinian version, sources in Jerusalem claim that the Europeans' proposal denies the Jewish connection to the Temple Mount, despite France's apology and admission of a mistake in supporting the UNESCO proposal in April that did the same.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon tweeted, "denying Jewish Jerusalem n Temple Mount amounts to denying the roots of Christian Europe. Will EU members agree to that? Crazy .."
Amb. Carmel Shama Hacohen, Israel's representative to UNESCO who is in Istanbul and leading efforts against the European initiative, said, "A European consensus in favor of severing the Jewish connection with the Temple Mount is a new record for hypocrisy."
During the committee's debate, Shama Hacohen asked the Palestinian representative, Amb. Mounir Anastas, why the Palestinians were not prepared to recognize the Jewish connection to the Temple Mount and add the Jewish term "Temple Mount" alongside the Palestinian "Al-Haram Al-Sharif." Anastas replied, that if the Palestinians recognized the Temple Mount as such, the Palestinian president and Jordanian king would become ISIS's top target.
The Israeli ambassador answered, "The historical connection of the Jewish people to the Temple Mount is not dependent on the desires and threats of ISIS just like it's not dependent on the will or decision of foreign countries and international organizations. The Palestinians the Jordanians should thank God for the Israeli sovereignty on the Temple Mount that grants them and the place full freedom of religion and complete protection from ISIS and the destruction that it's sowing on cultural and religious heritage sites throughout the East."
The Foreign Ministry was also angry with the European Union for its decision to open offices in Tehran. It released a statement saying, "The opening of an EU office in Iran is a grave mistake. Iran's behavior has not changed. It is the world's worst state sponsor of terrorism. It funds murder throughout the Middle East. It hangs gays and brutally represses its own people.
"Iran brazenly violates its international obligations while literally emblazoning its missiles with 'Israel will be wiped out.' Iran recently appointed a cleric head of the Assembly of Experts who calls for the destruction of both Israel and America. Iran should not be rewarded as it spreads murder and mayhem across the world."

The Israeli occupation police backtracked on accusing a Palestinian young man of trying to carry out a stabbing attack on Thursday morning at the entrance to Shuafat refugee camp in Jerusalem.
The police also admitted that plain-clothes officers mistakenly opened fire at 22-year-old Yehya Hejazi, from Anata town in Jerusalem, during his presence at Shuafat checkpoint.
Hejazi, who has suffered eight bullet injuries in his legs as well as a leg fracture, underwent several surgeries at Shaare Zedek hospital, according to his family.
The family told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) that its son had been exposed to brutal beating by Israeli soldiers after the shooting.
Hejazi told his family that he left his car at the checkpoint to stop a quarrel between two other young men when soldiers suddenly opened fire at him with no reason.

Prominent Palestinian figures denounced on Wednesday Israeli executions of Palestinian children, calling for both documenting and prosecuting such crimes.
Speaking during a press conference held by anti-violence association AVAC, Secretary General of the National Initiative Movement, Mustafa Barghouthi, spoke out against the field executions perpetrated by the Israeli occupation forces against Palestinian children, dubbing them “barbaric crimes” that require both documentation and prosecution.
Barghouthi added that Israeli cold-blooded murder of the youngster Mahmoud Shaalan, among others, is an instance of the tragedy endured by the Palestinians across the occupied territories.
Lawyer Nader Jayoussi, from AVAC, also said the group documented the execution of 16-year-old Shaalan, a holder of an American citizenship, by collecting eyewitness accounts and live proofs.
Postmortem autopsy found out that seven bullets hit the casualty’s body from the back and right side despite the fact that he was at a distance from the Israeli soldiers and, thus, posed no threat to them.
He said such eyewitness affidavits contradict Israeli claims that Shaalan attempted to stab soldiers.
Israel refused to hand to the Palestinian Liaison the surveillance cameras that recorded the crime from beginning to end.
AVAC’s director, Seyam Nawara, called for the need to document Israeli crimes and field executions against Palestinian civilians.

After Israel conducted an autopsy on the body of Anwar Falah Salaima, 24, who was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers, at dawn Wednesday, it became clear that the young man was shot with three live rounds in his back.
The Palestinian was driving back home, with two of his friends, when the soldiers opened fire on their car, killing him and wounding one of his friends in the head.
His family approved the autopsy under the condition that a Palestinian physician attends, especially after X-Ray revealed he was shot three times in his back.
Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud of the Palestinian Detainees’ Committee, said it remains unknown when will Israel allow the transfer of Salaima’s body back to his family.
Salaima was driving with Mahmoud Resheq, 22, and Mohammad Nassar, 20, when the soldiers opened fire on their car while the army was invading the town of ar-Ram, north of occupied East Jerusalem.
Mahmoud al-Resheq was shot in his head, but despite his injury, his condition was classified as stable.
The Israeli military claimed that the Palestinians “attempted to ram soldiers with their car.”
It is worth mentioning that the slain Palestinian got married less than two months ago, and was driving back home with two of his friends, after finishing work at a Wedding Hall, in Talpiot area, south of Jerusalem.
The three had no idea that the army was invading their town, and were surprised by the soldiers who fired many rounds of live ammunition on their car, killing Salaima, and wounding Resheq, in addition to kidnapping Mohammad Tawfiq Nassar.
The Israeli army said it invaded the town to break into a blacksmith’s workshop allegedly used for manufacturing weapons.
The death of Salaima brings the number of Palestinians, killed by Israeli fire since October 1st 2015 to 227, including 51 from Jerusalem and its suburbs.
