The Hamas Movement has expressed its belief that the failure of the Palestinian Authority's political trajectory and its inability to protect the Palestinian land have encouraged the Israeli occupation to expand its settlements.
In a press release, Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasem said that "Israel's persistence in expanding settlements reflects the large-scale 'replacement policy' it has been pursuing since its occupation of Palestine."
Qasem stressed that the Palestinian people's resistance and intifada (uprising) against the occupation are the only means to confront settlement expansion and settlers' savageries.
He called on the Palestinian Authority to give the resistance a free hand to defend its people and renounce its security collaboration with Israel, warning that its cooperation with the occupation against its own people would pave the way for further settlement expansion.

The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) imposed Thursday tough security restrictions on Palestinian movement in al-Khalil’s Old City.
The Israeli restrictions came to provide protection to settlers’ break-ins into the Ibrahimi Mosque as they celebrate the Jewish New Year on the 1st and 2nd day of September.
According to the PIC reporter, Israeli forces intensified their presence at the electronic gates erected at the entrance to the Mosque facilitating the settlers’ entrance.
On the other hand, Palestinians were subjected to excessive physical searches and humiliation while on their way to the Ibrahimi Mosque.
Some of the Palestinian worshipers were detained for long hours. Meanwhile, the Palestinian Human Rights Organizations Council (PHROC) warned that the Israeli Occupation Forces aim to impose further control over the Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil by changing its features under the pretext of security.
According to the council, the Ibrahimi Mosque (Cave of the Patriarchs) is a major Palestinian historical, architectural, and archaeological site. Al-Khalil Rehabilitation Committee has helped preserve the site since 1996.
Moreover, the old town of the city, including the Ibrahimi Mosque, is registered on the tentative list for UNESCO World Heritage sites in Palestine.
Beginning in July, the Israeli Occupation Forces started building stone rooms in front of the northern gate of the Mosque to replace the “temporary” checkpoints, with the intent of imposing a permanent status quo.
This preliminary step towards taking control of the Mosque, comes along with several other procedures that aim to impede the movement of Palestinians in the old town of al-Khalil, and will lead to the further isolation of the old town from the rest of al-Khalil.
The (PHROC) warned that through the construction of a permanent checkpoint, Israel aims to take further control of the Ibrahimi Mosque. PHROC also denounced the severe limitations on Palestinians’ rights to freedom of movement and worship, and called upon the international community and international organizations to take action to stop Israel’s policy of creating “facts on the ground” through the creation of permanent structures in the occupied territories that further its control over Palestinian land.

Calls for mass break-ins at the holy al-Aqsa Mosque were recently launched by the Israeli Women for the Temple organization to mark the Jewish New Year.
The calls fall in line with Israeli intents to mobilize desecration break-ins at the al-Aqsa on the occasion of the New Year.
Women for the Temple called on Israeli settlers via social media networks to step up break-ins on Sunday.
At the same time, 102 Israeli fanatics, escorted by police officers, stormed the al-Aqsa Mosque on early Thursday morning.
Israeli special units have been stationed across the plazas of the Mosque and in front of the Qibli place of worship to protect the settlers, who stormed the site via the Maghareba Gate.
Over 1,915 Israeli extremist settlers broke into the site in August, including 116 army officers and 57 religious students.

New settler groups stormed Thursday morning al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem via the Israeli-controlled al-Magharibeh gate amid heavy police protection.
A number of settlers tried to perform Talmudic rituals in al-Aqsa compound which provoked the ire of Palestinian worshipers.
On the other hand, Israeli police continued to prevent a number of Jerusalemite women from having access to al-Aqsa for allegedly being involved in protests against settlers’ presence in the holy shrine.
Tension remained high in occupied Jerusalem and West Bank since early October 2015 after Israeli police repeatedly stormed the site and restricted Palestinians’ access into it, while allowing large numbers of settlers to access the holy site under heavy protection.
In its monthly report, Quds Press revealed that 1,915 Israelis stormed al-Aqsa during August including 116 soldiers with their military uniforms.
The sources pointed out that Israeli break-ins into the holy shrine have dramatically increased in comparison to last July during which 1,114 settlers stormed the Mosque.
During the reported period, 34 Palestinians were denied access into the compound for different periods of time. Israel occupied the city of Jerusalem during the 1967 war. It later annexed the city in 1980, claiming it as the capital of the “Jewish state” in a move never recognized by the international community.

Israeli sources revealed that an Israeli company won the second tender of Israeli Tourism Ministry and the so called “Israel Lands Administration” for hotel construction in Mount Scopus in Occupied Jerusalem.
Yedioth Ahronoth Israeli newspaper reported that the hotel consists of seven floors with a capacity of 150 rooms in addition to commercial facilities.
This projects goes in line with Israeli ceaseless plans for Judaizing and changing the historic features of Occupied Jerusalem.
According to the Israeli Ministry of Tourism, hundreds of new hotel rooms are going to be added in the coming years.
The Tourism Ministry financed the marketing costs of the tender and will handle the development, in cooperation with the “Israel Lands Administration”, according to a statement from the ministry.
The statement added that the compound to be built is among the last significant areas of land in Jerusalem dedicated to the immediate construction of hotels.
The site is zoned for six hotels (with four lots being marketed first and the other two at a later stage). The hotel compound also includes land with a listed building, commercial property and an area, common to all the hotels, that will be designated for bus parking.
The commercial area will attract visitors from the adjacent promenade, and will serve as an entertainment attraction for tourists. "This tender is another important step in increasing hotel room supply in Jerusalem.
This tender will add to hundreds of hotel rooms that have been approved in the last year in the Jerusalem Ridge compound, which will become a tourism complex located in one of the most attractive places, overlooking the Old City basin," said Tourism Minister Yariv Levin.
Two companies: Hasid Brothers Contractors and Construction Ltd. and Klir Chemicals won the first tender to build 580 hotel rooms that will be built on the site.

Sheikh Najeh Bkeirat, the head of Jerusalem’s department of religious teachings, warned on Tuesday of the serious upshots of the Israeli cable-car plan, saying it aims to consolidate Israel’s grip on the holy city.
According to Bkeirat, after surrounding Jerusalem with Israeli settlements and conducting excavations underneath the al-Aqsa Mosque, Israel is now seeking control of the city’s sky via the cable-car project.
Bkeirat called for mobilizing international protests over such a Judaization project. He said the project is being held over a historic territory in an attempt obliterate the Islamic identity of the holy city of Jerusalem.
He said the scheme was initiated some 10 years ago when the Israeli Minister of Internal Security, Avi Dichter, issued a decision banning the burial of dead Muslims in the southern corners of Bab al-Rahma cemetery.
He slammed the Israeli occupation authorities for obstructing reconstruction works at Muslims’ the holy al-Aqsa Mosque in an attempt to hold sway over the site. According to Bkeirat, the cable-car project makes part of an Israeli plan to build the alleged temple mount on the ruins of the al-Aqsa, particularly in the so-called Holy Basin area.
Commenting on the repercussions of the plan, Bkeirat said efforts have been underway to seize a Palestinian land in Bab al-Rahma and ban the burial of Muslims. Other lands were confiscated in Bab al-Maghareba, Wadi Hilweh neighborhood, and Bab al-Khalil area. “The project amounts to a declaration of war.
Israel is trying to prove that it has sovereignty over Occupied Jerusalem through its continuous excavations and destruction of Islamic heritage,” Bkeirat noted. Over 2,500 Palestinian homes are threatened with demolition while 1,400 others have already been reduced to rubble as part of a policy of forced dislocation, he stated.
Bkeirat further spoke out against the several synagogues, surveillance cameras, detention centers, military checkpoints, and concrete roadblocks engulfing the city from all corners as instances of the hazardous nature of the underway Judaization scheme.

Dozens of Israeli soldiers invaded, on Tuesday at dawn, the town of Doura, south of Hebron, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank, and demolished a home of a political prisoner.
The Maan News Agency said the soldiers invaded Doura town, wired the home of detainee Mohammad Abdul-Majid Ebreiwish al-‘Amayra, and detonated it.
The family said the soldiers forced them out of their home, in Wad Soud area, in the northern part of the town, and also ordered all families living in nearby homes out of their properties, and detonated the Ebreiwish home.
The explosion leveled the property and caused structural damage to several nearby homes.
The army accuses al-‘Amayra of aiding Mohammad al-Faqeeh, who was killed by the army, on July 27th 2016, after the soldiers fired missiles into a home, where he barricaded himself. The soldiers also bulldozed the property.
The al-‘Amayra property was demolished after an Israeli court turned down an appeal filed by an Israeli center for human rights. A month ago, the army invaded the property, photographed it and handed the family the demolition order.
IDF forces demolish home of Micky Mark killer
Mohammed Amaira, one of the men involved in the murder of Micky Mark, had his house demolished by the IDF in the early hours of Tuesday morning; Amaira, a former Palestinian security services member, turned over the weapon and vehicle used in the attack.
IDF forces have destroyed the house of Mohammad Amairah, 38, in the village of Dura. Amairah was part of the terrorist cell which killed Michael Mark and severely injured his wife and daughter as they were driving in the West Bank two months ago.
The demolition was carried out by soldiers in the Yahalom unit and the 605 combat engineers battalion, alongside border police and COGAT.
The demolition of the terrorist's house was carried out in conjunction under the direction of the political establishment. The one story tall house was located in the Wadi Sod area of Dura, an area where the IDF conducted extensive operations to find the terror cell.
Amairah was a part of the Palestinian Security Forces in the West Bank, and was arrested three days after he carried out his attack.
While initially saying he was the driver of the terror cell's car during the attack, following a Shin Bet investigation, he revealed that a man named Mohammad Fakih fired the deadly shots, killing Mark. He even turned over the weapon and vehicle used in the attack.
Fakih was killed during a shootout with Israeli security forces after barricading himself in his home in Surif.

Activists have warned of underway Israeli attempts to Judaize the al-Kattan Cave in Occupied Jerusalem.
According to the Q-Press Center, the Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) have organized low-priced night concerts and offered to cover the cost of transport services in Occupied Jerusalem.
Several media campaigns have also been launched as part of Israeli intents to encourage the settlers to attend the concerts.
Three such concerts are slated to take place on September 8 and 9 with the participation of famous Israeli artists and composers. Recently a party was held by an Israeli ultra-Orthodox religious party.
Other festivals, including the annual Festival of Lights, have also been held under the sponsorship of fanatic religious parties.

Palestinian officials slammed an Israeli decision to organize a wine festival on the historic Islamic cemetery of Mamilla in Occupied Jerusalem on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
Head of the Supreme Islamic Committee Sheikh Ekrema Sabri said Israel is provoking Muslims by organizing a sacrilegious event on the territory of the sacred Islamic cemetery of Mamilla.
“Islam and the other religions observe the sanctity of dead people. The festival is unacceptable and illegitimate,” Sheikh Sabri noted.
Head of the Supreme Commission to Support Jerusalem and al-Aqsa, Sheikh Muhammad al-Aref, also said the projected wine festival reflects Israel’s inherent hatred and malevolent character.
“The event is not the by-product of a single period. It is the outcome of ongoing planning. Aren’t Israelis the ones who have burned the Ibtin Mosque and sprayed anti-Muslim graffiti on its walls more than once? Aren’t they the ones who instilled a bomb in the minaret of the Hadj Abdullah Mosque in Haifa? Aren’t they the ones who burned the al-Bahar Mosque in Tiberias?” wondered Aref as he cited more instances of such Israeli aggressions on Islamic sacred places of worship.
“They are the ones who have been digging up graves, violating the sanctity of our dead people, and building museums and hotels on the remains of the dead bodies, as they did in the Qishleh cemetery in Jaffa and Mamilla cemetery in Occupied Jerusalem,” added Aref.
“The wine festival makes part of an Israeli intent to obliterate the identity of Islamic holy sites,” Aref further stated, calling for serious action to defend Mamilla Cemetery and Islamic and Christian holy sites across the occupied Palestinian territories.
Chairman of the committee for the preservation of Islamic cemeteries in Occupied Jerusalem, Mustafa Abu Zahra, dubbed the festival a flagrant aggression on the historic cemetery of Mamilla and a barefaced violation of the sanctity of dead bodies. He pushed for cancelling the sacrilegious festival and respecting the sanctity of Islamic cemeteries in Occupied Jerusalem.

Israeli minister of Jerusalem affairs Ze'ev Elkin has said that Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu gives priority for the development (Judaization) of Mount of Olives, which is an Islamic waqf area in east Jerusalem used by Israel as a mock Jewish cemetery.
Elkin made his remarks at a recent reception held specially for him by the so-called the international committee for the preservation of Har Hazeitim (Mount of Olives) in New York in the presence of Israeli consul Dani Dayan.
He affirmed that the government earmarked millions of shekels for the establishment of projects and for the protection of visitors to the Mount through installing dozens of security cameras and intensifying police presence.
The international committee for the preservation of Har Hazeitim, which was founded five years ago, managed in cooperation with the Israeli government and right-wing Jewish groups to Judaize the Mount of Olives, which is actually an Islamic waqf land.
About 20,000 fake Jewish graves have been built on the Mount by this Zionist commission and settler groups as part of Judaization plans in the holy city.
