Palestinians, especially youngsters, are taking to the streets in large numbers to protest increasingly determined efforts by Jewish fanatics to take over or demolish al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest place in Islam.
A number of protesters, including a child, have been shot dead by trigger-happy Israeli soldiers, instructed by the Israeli government to shoot to kill even peaceful protesters.
According to eyewitnesses, Abdul Rahman Ubaydullah, 12, was shot dead early Tuesday by an Israeli sniper as he was playing outside his home at the Ayda refugee camp near Bethlehem.
Israel murdered thousands of Palestinians, including hundreds of children, in three devastating wars on the Gaza Strip in 2008-9, 2012, and 2014.
On Monday, another Palestinian youngster named Huthayfa Suleiman was shot dead at the Shweika neighborhood near the town of Tulkarem, in the northern West Bank.
Palestinian medical sources have reported that as many as 600 protesters were injured in the last three days, 300 by rubber-coated bullets, and the rest as a result of suffocation from tear-gas inhalation.
The hawkish Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu on Monday vowed to take "harsh” measures against "rioters."
The measures include instructions to kill stone-throwers, and demolish the family homes of Palestinians accused of killing Israeli settlers as well as imposing hefty fines on their families.
The measures seem to represent a stark contrast to the extremely lenient measures adopted against Jewish terrorists responsible for murdering Palestinians.
Nearly two months ago, Jewish terrorists burned alive an entire Palestinian family at the village of Duma near Nablus in the northern West Bank.
The father, mother and a small toddler succumbed to their massive burns while a second and only remaining child of the family is still fighting for his life in hospital.
Israel vowed to catch the perpetrators. However, two months after the ugly incident, none of the murderers has been apprehended.
It is widely believed that the Israeli security agencies as well as justice system are reluctant to pursue the Talmudic settler terrorists who are backed by powerful political figures as and top-ranking army officers.
The Israeli justice system, which is rife with right-wing judges sympathetic to the terrorists, often treats Jewish suspects as "innocent even if proven guilty," using the words of Israeli peace activist.
Al-Aqsa, the epicenter
The main reason behind current Palestinian protests is the recurrent and increasingly bold Jewish attempts to take over the Aqsa Mosque from Muslim hands in order to build on its site a Jewish temple.
Messianic Jewish groups, backed by powerful parties within the coalition government led by Netanyahu have been storming the Islamic sanctuary, nearly on a daily basis, under the protection of the Israeli security forces.
Muslims who tried to defend the sanctity of the place were severely beaten, shot at, or arrested and given hefty fines.
On Monday, crack Israeli soldiers expelled Muslim worshipers from the place.
Messianic Jews believe that the destruction of the Aqsa Mosque and building a Talmudic temple on its site would usher in the beginning of the so-called "redemption age" and appearance of a Jewish Messiah or redeemer, who will bring salvation for Jews and establish a world-wide Jewish empire.
Some Jewish circles, including religious Zionists, whose main political arm, ha-Bayt ha Yehudi, (Jewish home), is the second largest party in the current Israeli government, believe that bloodshed and violence on a very large scale must precede the redemption and appearance of the redeemer.
Believers in this cataclysmic theology, who are in the hundreds of thousands and include most settlers in the West Bank, often seek to expedite these doomsday whims by provoking violence in Occupied Palestine, especially by torching mosques and even churches and by committing outrageous acts of murder like what happened to the Dawabsheh family.
However, Messianic Jews know well that nothing would provoke the Palestinians like the recurrent storming of the Aqsa Mosque.
Life- and- death issue
In a certain sense, the millenarian Jews are correct.
Assaults on the Aqsa Mosque, even under the deceptive rubric of "innocent visits" do provoke Palestinians as nothing else would.
After all, the Aqsa Mosque is an integral part of the Islamic belief itself. The Mosque is mentioned by name in Suratul Isra (Chapter- 17)
Most Palestinians actually believe that the majestic Muslim sanctuary, to which the Prophet Muhammed made his night journey from Mecca and subsequently flew from there to the seventh heaven in what is known in Muslim traditions as Israa and Mi'iraj, symbolizes their very existence in Palestine.
Hence, targeting the Mosque by Jews is viewed as a direct, brazen and flagrant attack or declaration of war on the very existence of the Palestinians, not only in Palestine, but also in the Levant region.
That is why; nearly every Palestinian considers the issue a matter of life and death even at the personal level.
A new Intifada
It is difficult to say with certainty whether an intifada or uprising is occurring or going to occur soon.
However, it is amply clear that the chances for a new intifada are now greater than ever before in light of the deep anger and indignation generated among most Palestinians by Israeli provocations and crimes.
Hence, it is probably logical to say that the evolution of the present protests in the West Bank into a full-fledged uprising depends very much on Israeli behaviors, especially at the Aqsa Mosque.
More to the point, the virtual death of the so-called peace process and the practical elimination by Israel of all realistic prospects for the establishment of a viable Palestinian state are likely to make the eruption of a third Intifada more likely if not inevitable.

The childhood and innocence of 13-year-old Abdulrahman Shadi Obaidullah did not spare him the bullets of an Israeli sniper, who pointed his gun and fired a bullet into the child's heart. This practice falls in contrary to the moral lesson provided by the Palestinian resistance during the Nablus operation last Thursday.
Beit Jala hospital director Said Sarahna confirmed that the child arrived at the hospital suffering from a critical injury; as a result of the one bullet in the heart shot by an Israeli sniper.
He said that “the child Obaidullah underwent to a surgical operation in the heart to save his life, and the doctors also conducted a cardiopulmonary resuscitation operation (CPR) after his pulse had stopped”.
“The doctors conducted the required procedures to save the child's life; however, their efforts failed due to the serious injury”, he added.
Killing without distinction
Hamouda Nasser, a relative of the martyr, said that Abdulrahman was an example of good manners, beloved by all his peers. He opined that the killer sniper meant by killing the child Obaidullah that “children will not be spared and that children will be killed without distinction”.
Hearing the news of their child's murder, the parents broke down and cried but praised Allah (saying Alhamdulellah), wondering where are the much trumpeted ethics of war by the Israeli soldiers.
As soon as the news of the child's death spread, hundreds of citizens flocked to his family's home; and chanted for the resistance, calling on it to revenge for all those killed by the Israeli soldiers.
Army without ethics
Khaldoun Samih, from the Aida refugee camp, compared between the ethics of the resistance fighters who did not kill the children of settlers in the Nablus and Jerusalem operations with the deliberate killing of the child Obaidullah with a bullet in his heart by a sniper soldier. He said, "Ethics of resistance outperformed the occupation soldiers and showed them that they are the animals and monsters, not the Palestinians."
In their attack, the resistance fighters avoided killing the children who were in the car which they targeted at point blank although they killed two of the settlers who were inside the car; in an incident that sparked great feedback on the morality and humanity of the Palestinian resistance fighters.
Retaliation
Targeting the child with a bullet in his heart a day after the injury of a soldier from the Israeli border guards by an explosive device in the environs of Bilal bin Rabah mosque at the northern entrance to the city of Bethlehem, was interpreted by some citizens that the killing was intended in retaliation for the injury of the Israeli soldier ... a new evidence to the lack of morality of the occupation army.
As soon as the news of the martyrdom of the child Obaidullah spread, masked men were seen marching in the streets of Bethlehem asking the shops to close their doors in mourning to the child’s demise.
The national and Islamic forces in Bethlehem condemned the crime of executing the child with cold blood, and held the Israeli occupation government and the settlers responsible for this heinous crime.
They called for public mobilization at flashpoints in the province, which indicated that the martyrdom of the child Obaidullah might trigger a third intifada.

Adviser to Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman, Nimr Hammad, said Sunday afternoon the PA does not wish that the flames of a third intifada be fanned in the West Bank, accusing Hamas of simmering escalation.
He said the Israeli occupation is escalating tension in Occupied Jerusalem and the West Bank to drag Palestinians into a “cycle of violence.”
He reiterated the PA’s back up of what he dubbed “peaceful resistance” as the best means to face up to the Israeli occupation.
Meanwhile, the PA Chairman, Mahmoud Abbas, called on the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon to extend international protection to the Palestinians “before things get out of control.”
Earlier the UN Chief vowed to hold contacts with the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, over simmering violence perpetrated by Israeli settlers.
Violent clashes have rocked the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem after Israeli occupation troops and illegal settlers stepped up attacks against Palestinian civilians, family homes, and holy places of worship.

Palestinian resistance factions on Monday called for escalating the Palestinian intifada (uprising) against the Israeli occupation.
The factions hailed resistance operations in the West Bank and Occupied Jerusalem and called for escalating resistance operations as a strategic option to defend Muslims’ holy places. They also urged Palestinians to unify their efforts to confront Israeli aggressive practices.
In a press conference held in Gaza City, the Palestinian factions asked the Palestinian Authority (PA) to halt its security coordination with Israel and to stop chasing Palestinian resistance activists.
The factions stressed the right of Muslims and Arabs to the Aqsa Mosque, and said Israelis have no right in the Palestinian land.
They also hailed Palestinians in the 1948 Occupied Palestine and Occupied Jerusalem for defending the Aqsa Mosque and for siting-in at its plazas for the confrontation of settlers’ repeated incursions.
The factions called on Palestinians to take part in the pro-Aqsa march after Maghreb prayer on Monday night in Gaza City.

Member of Hamas political bureau Izzat al-Risheq hailed the resistance operation in Occupied Jerusalem and opined that the confrontations running in the West Bank are signs for the third intifada.
The Hamas leader Risheq said, in a statement posted on his Facebook page, “The operation in Occupied Jerusalem asserts that the Palestinian youth in the West Bank and Jerusalem are committed to defend al-Aqsa Mosque.”
He said that Muhannad al-Halabi, the doer of the operation, is an example of the Palestinian generation who will not waive the right of resistance.”
The Islamic Jihad Movement declared responsibility for the resistance operation which killed two Israelis and injured two others. Muhannad al-Halabi was shot dead by Israeli forces.

Member of Hamas political bureau Mahmoud al-Zahhar said the third intifada is likely to erupt despite the increasing security power of the Palestinian Authority (PA) in comparison to the second intifada in 2000.
In an interview with Hamas’s official website, Zahhar opined that “the only solution to defend the Aqsa Mosque and to put an end to Israeli plans is resistance”.
The Hamas senior official Zahhar slammed the PA for using its security forces for the protection of Jewish settlers. He stressed that “the Arab and Muslim nations are all responsible for the protection of the Aqsa Mosque”.
Zahhar called on Palestinians to develop resistance tools for the confrontation with Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) in Occupied Jerusalem and the West Bank. “The Israeli Occupation can easily be defeated by the use of simple weapons”, he opined.

Coinciding with the 15th anniversary of the Palestinian Intifada (uprising), the Israeli Municipality in occupied Jerusalem organized Thursday “UrShalim march 2015” in the holy city amid large participation of thousands of colonial settlers and foreigners from 35 countries.
Nearly 60,000 Israelis are scheduled to flock into the occupied city of Jerusalem to participate in the march that would roam throughout its neighborhoods led by the city mayor Nir Barakat.
The march was seen by Jerusalemite activists as part of Israeli plot to take control over occupied Jerusalem and to assert its declaration as “the unified capital of Israel”.
Deputy Head of the Islamic Movement within the Green Line Sheikh Kamal al-Khatib said that al-Aqsa Mosque is still subjected to Israeli attacks and Judaization break-ins 15 years after the Palestinian Intifada broke out in protest at the then Israeli opposition leader Ariel Sharon’s "visit" to the holy shrine.
The Palestinian people, he added, are always the victim whether the Israeli Labor or Likud party is in power. "Our people, however, will never give up their rights", he asserted.
Deputy Head of the Movement stressed the importance of national unity to restore the Palestinian legitimate rights.

Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, has said that a third intifada (uprising) would break out in the event of the continuation of Israeli violations against the Aqsa Mosque.
In a statement on the 15th anniversary of the second intifada, Hamas said that “harbingers of a third intifada are obvious and its tools are available”.
Hamas said, “The third intifada is about to explode at any moment”, and stressed that “when it explodes no power, conspiracy or collusion will stop it”.
In the same context, Hamas leader in Tubas Faze Sawaftah called for launching a popular revolution in order to confront Israeli persistent aggressive practices in Occupied Jerusalem and particularly at the Aqsa Mosque.
In a statement on Monday, Sawaftah urged Palestinians to use all means of resistance to put an end to Israeli crimes against the Aqsa Mosque.
He warned of the accelerating pace of the Israeli government’s plans of dividing the Aqsa Mosque in light of the world's silence.
The Hamas leader Sawaftah slammed the official and popular positions by Arab and Islamic countries in this regard.
Sawftah called on Palestinians to break the silence and rebel against the Israeli schemes and to resist the Israeli occupation. He also called on Arabs and Muslims all over the world to take to the streets in massive marches in support of the Aqsa Mosque.

Israeli incitement and violations against Muslims in Occupied Jerusalem and the holy al-Aqsa Mosque have dramatically increased in 2015, concludes a new Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor report.
The report, titled “Fire under the Ashes: Provoking Muslims in Jerusalem,” warns that Israeli incitement against Muslims could trigger a conflict that would likely result in disastrous consequences.
According to the report, the Israeli occupation authorities deported 227 Palestinians and detained 225 others during January-August. In addition, 7,200 settlers accompanied by the Israeli occupation soldiers stormed the Al-Aqsa compound during the same period.
“It is clear that the number of deportations increases shortly before Jewish holidays,” says Ihsan Adel, Euro-Med Monitor legal adviser. “For example, Israeli police issued 15 deportation orders on a single night a few days before the Jewish holiday of Passover and on the eve of the ‘Destruction of the Temple’ in July.”
Of the 227 deportation orders issued since the beginning of 2015, 119 (52.6 percent) involved men, 83 (36.4 percent) were against women and 25 (11 percent) targeted children under the age of 18, the report found out.
In addition, Euro-Med documented the detention of 225 Palestinians from the Al-Aqsa Mosque, including 118 men, 95 women, and 44 children.
The Euro-Med field team in Occupied Jerusalem found that the occupation soldiers often use violence while detaining Palestinians. For example, on May 31, police severely beat an elderly man carrying an Israeli identity card. In 2014, nearly 11,000 Jews stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the year (a number that is 28 percent higher than during 2013, and almost double that of 2012).
This year, April witnessed the highest percentage of violations; 1,412 settlers accompanied by 93 occupation officers and soldiers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Among the provocative acts documented by Euro-Med researchers against Palestinians in Occupied Jerusalem were performances of Talmudic prayers near Muslim worshippers, beating, throwing rubbish, cursing, death threats and preventing worshippers from reaching the mosque.
The Euro-Med Monitor called on the Israeli occupation authorities to cease such provocative practices and to take the steps necessary to put an end to human rights violations against Arabs and Muslims in Occupied Jerusalem.
The group further pushed the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process (UNSCO) and the international community to pressure Israel to adhere to international law, including the Geneva Conventions.
The organization also called on the UN Security Council to use all means possible to end the Israeli illegal occupation of the Palestinian territories.

The occupation authorities closed some of Al-Aqsa Gates on Monday afternoon and prevented men under the age of 40 from entering while allowed some men and women to enter and perform the Evening and Night Prayers and detained their IDs at the gates before entering.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed that the occupation forces were suddenly deployed at Al-Aqsa gates and closed the gates: Lions, Al-Qataneen, Al-Hadeed, Al-Ghawanmeh and King Faisal while the gates: Hutta, Al-Majles and Al-Silsileh were left open. They established iron barriers at the gates and imposed restriction on the entrance of worshippers. Witnesses explained that the occupation police evacuated the young |

Sheikh Raed Salah, head of the Islamic Movement in 1948 Occupied Palestine, expected a third intifada to break out in the West Bank and Jerusalem in the event of continuation of current situation at the Aqsa Mosque.
In a statement on Saturday, Salah said Israeli authorities are practicing the temporal and spatial division of the Aqsa Mosque based on well thought out and prepared in advance plans.
He opined that the popular response to Israeli aggression on the holy Aqsa Mosque should be pressuring the Israeli government to stop its arbitrary offensive measures against the Aqsa and Jerusalemite people.
Sheikh Salah hailed the Jordanian official condemnation of the Israeli attacks on the Aqsa Mosque and called on Jordan to take further concrete actions.

Life is becoming untenable for Palestinians in Jerusalem.
The strategy of Teddy Kollek, the infamous mayor of Jerusalem following Israel's 1967 occupation and subsequent annexation of Jerusalem, was grounded on three principles: separation between the communities in order to reduce friction to a minimum; colonisation on the city's outskirts, in order to create a human wall between the West Bank and Israel; and maintenance of the character of the al Aqsa mosque compound and its management by Jordan. This strategy proved itself: there were 250,000 new settlers in a real urban |
belt around occupied East Jerusalem and an international (and widely misused) image was cultivated – Jerusalem as a city of coexistence between Israelis and Palestinians. While the privileges enjoyed by Palestinians in Jerusalem (residency cards allowing them to travel and work on Israeli territory, as well as access Israeli social security) explain the relative calm in the city in recent decades. When revolts did take place, they remained in response to a provocation by Israeli authorities, whether intentional or not, including against the tunnel under al Aqsa, Prime Minister Sharon's 2000 visit to the al Aqsa compound or “prayers” organised by small groups of the extreme right in the area.
The extreme right coming to power changes this game: colonisation is now in the heart of Palestinian neighbourhoods (including Silwan, Sheikh Jarrah and the Muslim Quarter of the Old City), Israel systematically destroys homes built without the nearly impossible to obtain prior permission, administrative decrees are issued that push the Palestinian population out of its city (impossibility of family reunification and acquisition of Jerusalem residency). To this we must add the increasingly violent police behaviour against Palestinians, especially young people, and daily attacks by settlers, including even murder (one year ago, the young Mohammad Abu Khdeir was burnt alive by three Israelis).
In other words: life becomes untenable for many Palestinian residents of the city, and tension continues to grow.
This risk of eruption now centres on Israel's intransigence around the al Aqsa mosque esplanade. The Israeli "visits-prayers" to this area include not only small groups of extreme right-wing settlers, but also Knesset members and even ministers. Police preemptively repressed rallies of young Muslims who were on the esplanade to protect al Aqsa; two Muslim organisations were just now deemed illegal, and the police have repeatedly closed the al Aqsa mosque, not hesitating to bring weapons into this third holiest site in Islam.
This explains why tension tension is rising rapidly in East Jerusalem neighbourhoods, and stone throwing against Jews has become a daily occurrence in the neighbourhoods of the Arab city and its environs.
Rather than addressing the provocating factors, the government adds to this and has chosen to increase repression: increased police, mass arrests of teenagers and even children, substantial jail sentences for throwing stones (which will be considered as "attempted murder" [sic]). Such measures will obviously increase tension and confrontation.
This is what explains the unusually firm cautionary warning of Jordan's King Abdullah II; he recalled the importance of Jerusalem and its mosques to more than one billion Muslims around the world, and called on the Israeli government to immediately put an end to provocations. Otherwise, the Jewish state was taking the risk of a mass uprising in the region and even beyond. It is doubtful that Netanyahu, Ya'alon and Bennett hear the message of their faithful allies.

Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) hailed the resistance activists in Jenin in the northern West Bank for their steadfastness in confronting an Israeli military operation on Monday evening resulting in arrests and injuries of Palestinians.
The PFLP said, in a statement on Tuesday, last night’s operation brought into mind the Palestinian resistance in Jenin’s battle in 2002 when Jenin refugee camp was surrounded by Israeli forces that were defeated by Palestinian fighters who prevented Israeli troops from storming the camp.
The PFLP called on the Palestinian people as well as the Palestinian factions to stay alerted to Israeli targeting of resistance cells in the West Bank, which aims at weakening resistance actions against settlement establishment over Palestinians’ lands.
The front stressed the importance of Palestinian unity of resistance and urged all Palestinian factions to prepare for any Israeli escalation attempting to suppress Palestinian resistance cells in the West Bank.
It asked the Palestinian Authority to allow resistance operations in the West Bank and to abandon the security coordination with Israel especially at the current political situation in light of the failure of betting on Oslo Accords as admitted by the Palestinian leadership.

The Palestinian resistance in the West Bank has remained steadfast in the face of the Israeli occupation, Hamas spokesman Husam Badran said early Tuesday.
Commenting on the events cropping up overnight in the Jenin refugee camp, Husam Badran said the Palestinian resistance has taken the wind out of Israel’s sail and taught the enemy an unforgettable lesson in the art of street fighting.
“Yesterday was one of the first days of an intifada (uprising) flaring up in the West Bank,” he said. “The sound of bullets fired at the Israeli occupation in the Jenin refugee camp has brought back the memories of the heroic martyrs who have previously taught the occupation an unforgettable lesson.”
He hailed the Palestinian resistance fighters who have thwarted the preplanned attack on the Jenin refugee camp and stood firm against the heavily-armed Israeli troops, forcing them to enter into a state of unparalleled frenzy.
He further paid tribute to the young Palestinian protesters, who hurled stones at the Israeli troops that crept into the camp, and burned down a military vehicle.
Badran called on the Palestinian Authority (PA) to immediately cease security coordination with the Israeli occupation and adopt the choices opted for by the Palestinian people.
He said the PA apparatuses overnight Monday stormed the house of the ex-prisoner Majdi Abu al-Heija before he was chased down and kidnapped, along with three family members of his by the Israeli occupation officers.
Badran’s statements were released hours after an officer in the Israeli Yamam unit was wounded during a shootout between the Israeli occupation forces and Palestinian resistance fighters in the West Bank city of Jenin late Monday night.

Head of the Algerian Change Front Party Abdul Majeed Manasra said Wednesday that a third Palestinian Intifada (uprising) is expected to break out during 2015 in light of the continued Israeli violations in al-Aqsa Mosque.
In press statements, Manasra pointed to the huge damage caused by the last Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip, saying that it is the third offensive waged against the besieged Strip within five years.
He underlined that the repeated Israeli break-ins into al-Aqsa Mosque aim at dividing the holy shrine spatially and temporally and imposing a status quo in the area.
