At approximately 00:10, Israeli occupation forces, reinforced with tanks and military vehicles, initiated large-scale incursions into Bethlehem, Beit Jala and ‘Aaida and Al-‘Azza refugee camps, under the cover of intensive and indiscriminate shelling that targeted Palestinian houses and security sites. PCHR was informed that the Israeli forces thrust approximately 3km into Bethlehem and reoccupied ‘Aaida and Al-‘Azza refugee camps, the north of Al-Mahed and Al-Quds streets, and the vicinity of Paradise, Bethlehem and Intercontinental hotels.
Israel forces thrust crossed 2km into Beit Jala, and reoccupied Al-Seder and Al-Iraq neighborhoods, and the vicinity of the Orthodox Club and the Armenian Church.
During the incursion, ‘Abdel-Qader Jamil Abu Surour, 25, from ‘Aaida refugee camp, was killed by a heavy caliber bullet in the head, and Mousa George Abu ‘Eida, 19, from Beit Jala, was killed by a heavy caliber bullet in the neck.
The two were inside their houses when they were killed. In addition, 22 Palestinians were wounded, including 4 in serious condition.
At approximately 14:00, Israeli soldiers, positioned in military locations inside “Ramat Yishai” settlement in the center of Hebron, opened fire on Palestinian houses in Al-Sheikh neighborhood.
Munther Fawzi El-Juneidi, 24, was seriously wounded by a heavy caliber bullet in the abdomen.
At approximately 16:00, Israeli occupation forces fired heavy and medium caliber bullets at Palestinian houses in Al-Khader village, west of Bethlehem.
Merriam Suleiman Subeih, 38, mother of 6 children, was killed by a medium caliber bullet in the neck while at home.
In Al-Bireh, the Israeli forces reinforced their presence with more tanks and military vehicles in the areas they had reoccupied since Thursday morning, October 18.
They also shelled Palestinian residential areas sporadically. In the morning, a member of the Palestinian National Security Forces, Sa’ed ‘Abdel-Qader El-Aqra’, 22, from Salfit, was killed by a heavy caliber bullet, while confronting an incursion by Israeli forces into Al-Ersal area towards the center of the city. In addition, three Palestinians were wounded:
1) Mohammed Dhiab Sama’neh, 24, a member of the Palestinian National Security Forces, from Beit Eiba village near Nablus, seriously wounded by a live bullet in the head;
2) Ghaleb Samir El-Resheq, 15, from Al-Ram village near Jerusalem, wounded by a live bullet in the right hand;
3) Ahmed Jawad Jawabra, 15, from Qalandya refugee camp, wounded by a live bullet in the right foot.
A Child Killed in an Explosion of a Suspicious Object in Khan Yunis
On Friday morning, Bassel Salim Mohammed El-Mubasher, 13, from Khan Yunis, was killed by an explosion of a suspicious object, believed to be an unexploded artillery shell fired earlier by Israeli forces.
According to PCHR’s investigation, the child went out of his family house in the west of Khan Yunis refugee camp at approximately 08:00 to feed birds the family raises near the house. The house is only 30m away from “Neve Dekalim” settlement. In a short while, a heavy blast was heard in the area. The child’s father hurried to check what happened and found his son lying on the ground.
He was evacuated him to Nasser Hospital in han Yunis where he was pronounced dead. Accoring to medical sources at the hospital, the child was brought to the hospital motionless. His right hand was cut, his left leg was fractured and he received shrapnel throughout the body, especially in the abdomen and the face.
It is worth mentioning that the west of Khan Yunis refugee camp is shelled by Israeli forces almost daily. Despite the lack of full details on the incident, it is believed that the child played with an artillery shell of the remainders of shelling by the Israeli forces and it exploded between his hands.
A Woman Dies Due to Obstructed Access to Hospital
At approximately 15:30 on Friday, Rihab Mohammed Noufal, 30, from Housan village west of Bethlehem, was pronounced dead after Israeli forces at a military roadblock at the entrance of Al-Khader village obstructed her access to the hospital when she was going into labour.
She was taken by relatives in a private car to hospital to give birth.

At approximately 02:00, Israeli occupation forces, positioned in the vicinity of “Neve Dekalim” settlement, west of Khan Yunis opened fire on Palestinian house in Al-Nemsawi neighborhood and the west of Khan Yunis refugee camp.
Hala Suleiman Huneideq, 24, was wounded by a live bullet in the left hand while at home. Additionally, a number of houses were severely damaged.
At approximately 03:20 local time, after a group of activists from the military wing of Hamas attempted to sneak into “Dogit” settlement, north of Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip, Israeli forces in the settlement shelled Palestinian areas south of the settlement.
A member of the Palestinian National Security Forces, Jihad Tawfiq Abu Hashish, 19, from Beit Hanoun, was wounded by a live bullet in the left leg.
PCHR’s field officer in the northern Gaza Strip reported that Israeli forces, reinforced with tanks, thrust approximately 1,200m into Palestinian-controlled areas south of the settlement. They took position approximately 200m away from the American School, west of Beit Lahia. The Israeli forces withdrew at approximately 10:00. As a result of the incursion, Palestinian agricultural land and civilian facilities were severely damaged.
At approximately 15:00, the Israeli forces started razing more areas of Palestinian agricultural land, south of “Dogit” settlement. PCHR’s field officer in the northern Gaza Strip reported that:
1) Israeli forces razed a 4-donum area of agricultural land planted with strawberries and destroyed an irrigation network, owned by ‘Essam Farah and rented by ‘Othman Mukheimer Abu Halima.
2) They razed a 30-donum area of agricultural land planted with potatoes and destroyed a 140-square-meter building, a well, a store and five fuel tanks, owned by Njib No’man El-Khuzendar, and rented by Mohammed Ghazi El-‘Attar, Anwar Mohammed El-‘Attar and As’ad Mohammed El-Khuzendar.
3) They razed a 54-donum area of agricultural land planted with potatoes, and destroyed irrigation networks owned by ‘Omar Ibrahim Hamada and rented by Mohammed Na’im El-‘Attar, Na’im Khairi El-‘Attar, Rami Yousef El-‘Attar and Na’im Na’im El-‘Attar.
4) They razed a 2.5-donum area of agricultural land planted with potatoes and destroyed an irrigation network, owned by Mohammed Rabah El-‘Attar.
5) They razed a 5-donum area of agricultural land planted with strawberries and destroyed an irrigation network, owned by Mohammed Khalil El-‘Attar.

At approximately 10:30, Israeli forces, positioned in ‘Ein Qinya military location, shelled Palestinian houses in Al-Tirah neighborhood in Ramallah. A number of houses were damaged.
At approximately 14:30, Israeli forces, reinforced with tanks and armored personnel carriers, moved into Deir Nizam village, northwest of Ramallah, under the cover of intensive shelling. Three Palestinian civilian cars were severely damaged.
At approximately 22:00, Israeli forces, positioned in a military location in Tal Zo’rob area adjacent to the Egyptian border, south of Rafah, shelled Palestinian houses in Tal Al-Sultan neighborhood in the west of Rafah.
PCHR’s field officer in Rafah reported that an artillery shell fell onto the roof of a 4-story house in which 5 families, comprised of around 30 people live, owned by Leila ‘Abdel-Ra’ouf Es’eifan El-Quttati. The house was damaged, but no casualties were reported.

In the afternoon, clashes erupted between dozens of Palestinian civilians and Israeli occupation soldiers positioned at a military roadblock near Qalandya refugee camp.
Israeli soldiers fired at civilians, wounding Eyad Ibrahim Lafi, 17, seriously with a live bullet in the abdomen. He was evacuated to the intensive care unit at Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Ramallah.
Continued Assassinations and Extra-Judicial Killings
In a continuation of the policy of assassination and extra-judicial killing formally adopted by the Israeli government, the Israeli forces committed two new assassinations. Three members of Fatah Movement in Bethlehem and a Hamas member in Nablus were killed.
At approximately 18:00 on Thursday, a heavy blast occurred on Wadi Abu Sa’da Street in Beit Sahour. Ambulances and Palestinian citizens rushed to the area where they found a Suzuki jeep aflame on a tract of agricultural land adjacent to the street. Three members of Fatah in Bethlehem were traveling in the jeep, which was destroyed by a bomb:
1) ‘Aatef Ahmed ‘Ebayyat, 32, head of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades in Bethlehem, an activist whom the Israeli forced demanded the PNA to hand over;
2) Jamal ‘Abdullah El-Nawawra ‘Ebayyat, 35; and
3) ‘Eissa El-Khatib ‘Ebayyat, 28.
Palestinian sources accused the Israeli forces of planting a bomb in the car to assassinate the three Fatah activists.

While Israeli forces maintained their occupation of Palestinian areas in Bethlehem and Beit Jala cities and ‘Aaida and Al-‘Azza refugee camps, they shelled Palestinian civilian facilities and fired at Palestinians. Israeli forces used artillery shells, heavy, medium and light machine guns, and surface-to-surface missiles.
Four Palestinians, including two civilians, were killed.
At approximately 13:50, Salameh Ibrahim El-Debes, 39, from ‘Aaida refugee camp, was killed by a live bullet in the head fired by Israeli forces while he was at home. No clashes were reported at that time.
At approximately 17:00, Firas Shehdeh Salahat, 29, from Al-‘Azza refugee camp, was pronounced dead at Beit Jala Hospital, after efforts to save his life had failed. Salahat was wounded by three live bullets in the chest, the abdomen and the left leg fired by Israeli forces.
At 18:10, Wa’el Dheif Ismail ‘Ebayyat, 22, from Bethlehem, a member of the Palestinian Presidential Guard (Force 17), was killed by a live bullet and shrapnel in the upper part of the body, when Israeli forces shelled Al-‘Azza refugee camp and Bethlehem University.
At approximately 23:50, Farid Salim Abu Jalaleh, 23, from Rafah, a member of the Palestinian National Security Forces, was killed by a heavy caliber bullet in the chest and shrapnel in the head, when Israeli forces shelled Al-‘Azza refugee camp.
In the meantime, Israeli forces shelled Al-Douha neighborhood in the southwest of Bethlehem. Artillery shells hit a Palestinian house, wounding three children:
1) Dhuha Mohammed El-Halyqa, 12;
2) ‘Alla’ Mohammed El-Halayqa, 8; and
3) Dhirar Mohammed El-Halyqa, 6.
In Tulkarm, the Israeli forces maintained a strict siege on Palestinian-controlled areas and continued to occupy parts of the city. At approximately 17:00, Israeli forces intruded into Nour Shams refugee camp under the cover of intensive shelling.
Hassan Khalil ‘Aaref Abu Sirreya, 35, was killed by three live bullets in the left side, the right hand and the left wrist. The ambulance that tried to evacuate him was hit by three live bullets. Additionally, six Palestinian civilians were wounded:
1) Saleh Mustafa Zuhairi, 34, seriously wounded by two live bullets in the chest and the left elbow;
2) Haifa’ Walid ‘Aamer, 29, wounded by shrapnel throughout the body;
3) Mohammed Walid ‘Aamer, 4 months, wounded by shrapnel throughout the body;
4) Sahafiq Ahmed Abu Jad, 38, wounded by a live bullet in the right thigh;
5) Rami ‘Othman ‘Abdel-Rahim, 19, wounded by shrapnel in the left knee; and
6) Ahmed ‘Ali El-Khatib, 35, wounded by shrapnel in the left shoulder.
In the Gaza Strip, Israeli forces shelled and invaded several areas. At approximately 01:00, Israeli occupation forces, positioned in a military location at the entrance of a settlement road leading to the Green Line, east of Gaza City, fired heavy and medium caliber bullets at Palestinian farms to the west.
No casualties were reported.
At approximately 16:00, Israeli forces demolished a 200-square-meter, one-story house, in which 31 people used to live, owned by Mohammed ‘Abdel-Hadi El-Souri. The house was located approximately 150m away from a road branch of Salah El-Din Street, leading to Kissufim Crossing at the eastern border of the Gaza Strip.
At approximately 16:30, Israeli occupation forces, positioned in Jewish settlements established on Palestinian land in Al-Mawasi area, west of Rafah, shelled Tal Al-Sultan neighborhood with no apparent reason.
Two artillery shells hit a wall on the roof of Mohammed Joudeh’s house, but no casualties were reported.
At approximately 17:00, residents of Al-Salam neighborhood adjacent to the Egyptian border, south of Rafah, noticed a number of Israeli soldiers moving into a nearby Palestinian house under construction, owned by Daoud Suleiman Abu Muhsen. A number of Israeli soldiers had moved into the same house on August 22 and fired at members of the engineering corps of the Palestinian police who attempted to enter the house to defuse alleged bombs.
A Palestinian policeman, Mahmoud ‘Ali Jasser, 23, from Khan Yunis was killed.
At approximately 23:00, Israeli occupation forces, positioned in the vicinity of “Netzarim” settlement, south of Gaza City, shelled Palestinian houses in Al-Mughraqa area, south of the settlement, for no apparent reason. A number of houses and civilian facilities were damaged:
1) Walls, doors and a water tank of a house owned by Hassan ‘Aaref ‘Azzam were severely damaged.
2) Windows of a house owned by Yousef ‘Abdel-‘Azziz El-Weheidi were damaged and 4 sheep were killed.
3) Fifteen sheep owned by Sabha Ahmed Aby Zhaher were killed.

In Tulkarm, the Israeli forces maintained a strict siege on Palestinian-controlled areas and continued to occupy parts of the city. At approximately 17:00, Israeli forces intruded into Nour Shams refugee camp under the cover of intensive shelling.
Hassan Khalil ‘Aaref Abu Sirreya, 35, was killed by three live bullets in the left side, the right hand and the left wrist. The ambulance that tried to evacuate him was hit by three live bullets. Additionally, six Palestinian civilians were wounded:
1) Saleh Mustafa Zuhairi, 34, seriously wounded by two live bullets in the chest and the left elbow;
2) Haifa’ Walid ‘Aamer, 29, wounded by shrapnel throughout the body;
3) Mohammed Walid ‘Aamer, 4 months, wounded by shrapnel throughout the body;
4) Sahafiq Ahmed Abu Jad, 38, wounded by a live bullet in the right thigh;
5) Rami ‘Othman ‘Abdel-Rahim, 19, wounded by shrapnel in the left knee; and
6) Ahmed ‘Ali El-Khatib, 35, wounded by shrapnel in the left shoulder.
In the Gaza Strip, Israeli forces shelled and invaded several areas. At approximately 01:00, Israeli occupation forces, positioned in a military location at the entrance of a settlement road leading to the Green Line, east of Gaza City, fired heavy and medium caliber bullets at Palestinian farms to the west.
No casualties were reported.
At approximately 16:00, Israeli forces demolished a 200-square-meter, one-story house, in which 31 people used to live, owned by Mohammed ‘Abdel-Hadi El-Souri. The house was located approximately 150m away from a road branch of Salah El-Din Street, leading to Kissufim Crossing at the eastern border of the Gaza Strip.
At approximately 16:30, Israeli occupation forces, positioned in Jewish settlements established on Palestinian land in Al-Mawasi area, west of Rafah, shelled Tal Al-Sultan neighborhood with no apparent reason.
Two artillery shells hit a wall on the roof of Mohammed Joudeh’s house, but no casualties were reported.
At approximately 17:00, residents of Al-Salam neighborhood adjacent to the Egyptian border, south of Rafah, noticed a number of Israeli soldiers moving into a nearby Palestinian house under construction, owned by Daoud Suleiman Abu Muhsen. A number of Israeli soldiers had moved into the same house on August 22 and fired at members of the engineering corps of the Palestinian police who attempted to enter the house to defuse alleged bombs.
A Palestinian policeman, Mahmoud ‘Ali Jasser, 23, from Khan Yunis was killed.
At approximately 23:00, Israeli occupation forces, positioned in the vicinity of “Netzarim” settlement, south of Gaza City, shelled Palestinian houses in Al-Mughraqa area, south of the settlement, for no apparent reason. A number of houses and civilian facilities were damaged:
1) Walls, doors and a water tank of a house owned by Hassan ‘Aaref ‘Azzam were severely damaged.
2) Windows of a house owned by Yousef ‘Abdel-‘Azziz El-Weheidi were damaged and 4 sheep were killed.
3) Fifteen sheep owned by Sabha Ahmed Aby Zhaher were killed.

At approximately 01:00, Israeli occupation forces, reinforced with tanks and bulldozers, moved approximately 400m into the west of Al-Qarara village, north of Khan Yunis, under the cover of intensive shelling that targeted Palestinian houses. The Israeli forces razed a 15-donum-area of Palestinian agricultural land planted with guavas, palms and citrus, owned by Mohammed ‘Abdel-Majid El-‘Abadleh. They threw stones towards an Israeli military location in the vicinity of the nearby “Neve Dekalim” settlement. Israeli occupation soldiers fired at the demonstrators, wounding a child and a passing civilian:
1) Khaled Ahmed Saqer, 12, wounded by a live bullet in the left hand; and
2) Hussein Ragheb Safi, 52, wounded by shrapnel from a live bullet in the head.
At approximately 15:40, Israeli occupation soldiers, positioned at the eastern border of the Gaza Strip, east of Beit Hanoun, fired at ‘Eida Salem Abu Shallouf, 55, from Beit Hanoun, wounding her with a live bullet in the right leg.
She was evacuated to Shifa’ Hospital in Gaza City in stable condition. According to PCHR’s investigation, Abu Shallouf was grazing sheep approximately 600m west of the border when she was fired at by Israeli soldiers without any apparent reason or warning.
PCHR’s field officer in the northern Gaza Strip reported that Israeli occupation forces often fire at people moving in the area, thus restricting the access of Palestinian farmers to their agricultural land in the area.
At approximately 20:30, Israeli occupation forces at a military location at the entrance of the road leading to Al-Mawasi area, west of Rafah, opened fire on Palestinian houses in Tal Al-Sultan neighborhood.
Yasser Ziad El-Derbi, 23, was injured by shrapnel in the chest while he was near his house.
Also at approximately 20:30 local time, Israeli occupation forces, positioned in the vicinity of “Gani Tal” settlement, west of Khan Yunis, fired artillery shells and heavy and medium caliber bullets at Palestinian houses in the western hills area and Al-Amal neighborhood.
More than 15 artillery shells fell near Palestinian houses, but no casualties were reported. The shelling continued until 23:00 local time.
Continued Assassinations and Extra-Judicial Killings
In an assassination on Monday, Ahmed Hassan Marshoud, 29, from Nablus was killed, and Ziad ‘Abdullah ‘Araysheh, 24, was wounded.
At approximately 08:20 local time, a heavy blast was heard at An-Najah University Street in Nablus. Ambulances, firemen, and civilians rushed to the area, where they found a car burning and two young men lying on the ground injured. The two young men were evacuated to Rafidya Hospital in Nablus, where Marshoud was soon pronounced dead.
Marshoud used to work in a program for the rehabilitation of ex-prisoners. He went the office of the program in his private car. As soon as he stopped the car, it exploded. Palestinian security sources held Israeli occupation forces responsible for the incident, accusing these forces of putting a bomb in the car to kill the two, who were known Hamas activists.

At approximately 05:45 local time, Hammad had just came back home from the mosque after the dawn prayer. He lived in a four-story building in Al-Naqqar neighborhood in the northwest of Qalqilya, only 300m away from Israeli military locations at the Green Line. Following his normal routine, Hammad went to the roof of his house.
At approximately 06:15 local time, he came under intense fire from Israeli military positions. His family instantly rushed to the roof where they found him covered with blood. They evacuated him to the UNRWA hospital in Qalqilya, where he was soon pronounced dead.
According to medical sources at the hospital, Hammad received three medium caliber bullets in the chest and the right side. Israeli forces claimed responsibility for this assassination. In a statement to Israeli Channel 1 television, a spokesman for the Israeli prime minister’s office stated the an undercover unit of the Israeli forces had assassinated Hammad.
Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, stated that “this is not the first operation and it will not be the last one.”

In the evening of the same day, dozens of Jewish settlers attacked Palestinian houses in Jabal Al-Rahma, Al-Takrouri, and Qubbat Janeb neighborhoods, which had been reoccupied by Israeli forces since Friday, October 5.
In these attacks, which continued until the following morning, the settlers used iron bars and firearms, causing severe damage to a number of Palestinian houses.

At approximately 12:30 local time, 23-year-old ‘Azmi ‘Eissa Dhumeiri, from Tulkarm refugee camp, was wounded in the back by a live bullet fired by Israeli occupation soldiers.
Dhumeiri was on his way back home from work in Al-Tira town inside the Green Line when Israeli soldiers fired at him near Al-Taybeh roadblock, southwest of Tulkarm.
After Friday prayers, Palestinian civilians organized a peaceful demonstration that moved towards an Israeli military roadblock at the northern entrance of Al-Bireh. Israeli occupation soldiers fired live ammunition, rubber-coated metal bullets, tear gas canisters, and stun grenades at the demonstrators. Four civilians were wounded:
1) ‘An’am Ibrahim Qeddis, 22, a medic from Beit Leqia village near Ramallah, wounded by a rubber-coated metal bullet in the shoulder;
2) Samer Khaled Jebril, 14, from Ramallah, wounded by a rubber-coated metal bullet in the abdomen;
3) Majdi ‘Eissa Sa’id, 15, from Bir Zeit village near Ramallah, wounded by a stun grenade in the abdomen; and

At approximately 09:00, Israeli occupation soldiers positioned in a military location at the entrance of a road leading to Al-Mawasi area, west of Rafah, opened fire on Palestinian houses in Tal Al-Sultan neighborhood.
Four Palestinian civilians, including a woman, a child, and an old man, were wounded:
1) Mahmoud Hassan ‘Abdullah, 9, wounded by shrapnel in the testicles;
2) Mohammed Yousef ‘Affifi, 80, wounded by shrapnel in the neck;
3) Sana’ Dhiab Matar, 39, wounded by shrapnel in the head; and

In the meantime, Israeli occupation forces, reinforced with tanks, continued their activities at the Egyptian border, south of Rafah, under the cover of sporadic shelling that targeted Palestinian houses.
At approximately 19:00 local time, 10-year-old ‘Arafat ‘Omar Siam, was wounded in the right thigh by a live bullet fired by Israeli occupation soldiers positioned near Salah El-Din Gate at the border. PCHR’s field officer in Rafah reported that the child was approximately 1,500m away from the gate when he was wounded.

In Hebron this week, Jewish settlers launched several attacks on Palestinian civilians and property. On Friday, October 12, a number of armed Jewish settlers violently beat Fawzi ‘Abdel-Rahim Abu Hadid, 32, while he was passing near “Avraham Avino” settlement on his way home from work.
The attack occurred before the eyes of Israeli soldiers who did not intervene to stop it.
At approximately 12:30 local time, 23-year-old ‘Azmi ‘Eissa Dhumeiri, from Tulkarm refugee camp, was wounded in the back by a live bullet fired by Israeli occupation soldiers.

Four Palestinian civilians, including a woman, a child, and an old man, were wounded:
1) Mahmoud Hassan ‘Abdullah, 9, wounded by shrapnel in the testicles;
2) Mohammed Yousef ‘Affifi, 80, wounded by shrapnel in the neck;
3) Sana’ Dhiab Matar, 39, wounded by shrapnel in the head; and
4) Sa’di Mahmoud Zo’rob, 23, wounded by shrapnel in the back.
They were all evacuated to Al-Joneina Hospital in Rafah.
In the meantime, Israeli occupation forces, reinforced with tanks, continued their activities at the Egyptian border, south of Rafah, under the cover of sporadic shelling that targeted Palestinian houses.
At approximately 19:00 local time, 10-year-old ‘Arafat ‘Omar Siam, was wounded in the right thigh by a live bullet fired by Israeli occupation soldiers positioned near Salah El-Din Gate at the border. PCHR’s field officer in Rafah reported that the child was approximately 1,500m away from the gate when he was wounded.
At approximately 16:00, Israeli occupation forces near “Neve Dekalim” settlement, west of Khan Yunis, opened fire on Palestinian houses in the western part of Khan Yunis refugee camp when no clashes were reported, wounding two Palestinian civilians:
1) Hani Hassan Abu El-Sa’id, 24, seriously wounded by a live bullet in the left thigh; and
2) Hazem Sa’id Huneideq, 8, wounded by shrapnel from a live bullet in the right foot.
Attacks by Jewish Settlers
In Hebron this week, Jewish settlers launched several attacks on Palestinian civilians and property. On Friday, October 12, a number of armed Jewish settlers violently beat Fawzi ‘Abdel-Rahim Abu Hadid, 32, while he was passing near “Avraham Avino” settlement on his way home from work.
The attack occurred before the eyes of Israeli soldiers who did not intervene to stop it.

At approximately 00:30, a heavy blast was heard near Surra village, southwest of Nablus. At approximately 08:00, the Israeli liaison forces handed the body of a Palestinian young man to the Palestinian side.
The body of the young man was transferred to Rafidya Hospital in Nablus, where he was identified as Hani Mustafa Rawajba, 24, from ‘Assira village, northwest of Nablus.
Details of Rawajba’s death have not been clear. However, Israeli radio reported that he had been killed in a clash with Israeli occupation forces. According to medical sources, Rawajba was hit by an artillery shell.
Attacks by Jewish Settlers
On Thursday morning, a Jewish settler fired at a Palestinian civilian car traveling from Hebron to Nablus, wounding the driver and an occupant.
At approximately 03:00, Mohammed Hassan El-Halayqa, 75, from Al-Shuyoukh village near Hebron, was traveling in a car with the driver, Wa’el ‘Awadh, 20, from Beit Ummar village, on their way from Hebron to Nablus. When they were near Ussarin village, west of Nablus, a Jewish settler fired at the car and escaped to the nearby “Magdoulim” settlement.
Israeli occupation forces closed the area and evacuated the two wounded Palestinian civilians in a helicopter to Tal Hashomer Hospital inside the Green Line. Halayqa was seriously wounded by a live bullet in the head and the driver was wounded by a live bullet in the shoulder.

In reaction to Ze’evi’s assassination, Israeli occupation forces, reinforced with tanks and military vehicles, moved into Palestinian-controlled areas in Jenin and Ramallah. At approximately 05:10 local time, Israeli occupation forces thrust approximately 500m into the northwest of Al-Bireh and took up position near Best Eastern Hotel and the offices of the Palestinian Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation.
Other Israeli forces also moved approximately 700m into the north of Al-Bireh, taking up positions at the entrances of the offices of Ministry of Supplies and Ministry of Local Government. The incursion took place under the cover of intensive shelling that targeted Palestinian houses.
Two members of Palestinian security services, Marwan Ibrahim Sabri El-Ghoul, 25, from Al-Far’a refugee camp in Jenin, and Mohammed Ziad Abu Ras, 18, were killed by live bullets fired by the invading Israeli forces. In addition, the Israeli forces destroyed an electricity generating facility, cutting off electricity from most areas in Al-Bireh and Ramallah. Three Palestinian civilians were also wounded:

Israeli occupation forces fired at Palestinian civilians who organized peaceful protests, without any threat having been posed to the lives of Israeli soldiers. On some occasions, the Israeli forces fired at Palestinian civilians during periods when no demonstrations or other clashes were occurring. Furthermore, the Israeli forces shelled Palestinian residential areas and encroached into Palestinian controlled areas, leveling large areas of agricultural land and destroying many agricultural and civilian facilities.
This week, the Israeli forces killed 14 Palestinians – including 12 civilians. Around 60 Palestinians were injured.
According to PCHR’s documentation, three Palestinian civilians were shot dead and 29, mostly children, were injured either as a result of entirely unprovoked attacks or as a result of excessive use of force during demonstrations in which no threat was posed to the lives of Israeli soldiers.

On Friday, October 5, 2001, Israeli occupation forces, reinforced with tanks and military vehicles, moved into Palestinian controlled areas in Hebron, under the cover of intensive shelling by tanks and combat helicopters. Two gunmen were and three Palestinian civilians were killed during the incursion.
In addition, 14 Palestinian civilians were injured.
On Saturday, October 6, 2001, the Israeli occupation forces expanded their military activities against Palestinians in Hebron, killing two civilians.
On Sunday, October 7, 2001, Ra’ed Bhjat El-Sharif, 28, a taxi driver from Hebron, was killed and four other Palestinian civilians, including a woman and her child, were wounded, when Israeli occupation soldier fired at their car.
On Monday, October 8, 2001, Israeli occupation soldiers, positioned in a military location at Al-Shuhada’ junction, south of Gaza City, shot dead a Palestinian civilian, ‘Abdel-Rahman Ahmed Abu ‘Oreiban, who suffered from psychological disturbances. The incident was the second of its kind in 10 days.

On Wednesday, October 10, 2001, Hamada Saleh Abu El-Rous, 34, from Rafah, was pronounced dead from a wound he received by Israeli occupation forces approximately 14 years ago. Abu El-Rous was wounded by a live bullet in the head during clashes in Rafah refugee camp on December 12, 1987. Since then, he suffered from hemiplegia. He was pronounced dead on Wednesday.
Furthermore, 11 Palestinians, including 9 civilians, were killed and 34 were injured by live bullets and shrapnel from artillery shells during the shelling of, and encroachments into Palestinian cities and villages by the Israeli occupation forces. This week, Hebron witnessed particularly violent shelling and incursion.
The Israeli occupation forces have continued their incursion into Palestinian agricultural land in the north of Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip. The incursion started on Wednesday morning, October 3, 2001, and has continued until today. Israeli forces, reinforced with tanks and bulldozers, have swept 1,300 dunums of agricultural land and have destroyed many civilian facilities in the north of Beit Lahia.
For one week, around 35 Palestinian families, living east of “Dogit” settlement, north of Beit Lahia, have been living without electricity and with restricted water.

At approximately 16:00 local time, ‘Abdel-Karim Tayseer El-Hefnawi, 18, from Jablaya, was wounded in the back by a live bullet fired by Israeli occupation soldiers. El-Hefnawi was participating in the funeral procession of five martyrs killed in the morning when Israeli occupation forces shelled the north of Beit Lahia.
He was, along with dozens of people, near the eastern border of the Gaza Strip when he was fired at by Israeli soldiers.
At approximately 16:30 local time, dozens of Palestinian civilians demonstrated in the west of Khan Yunis refugee camp. They threw stones at Israeli occupation soldiers, positioned in Al-Nouria military location. Israeli soldiers fired at the demonstrators, wounding three as follows:
1) Mohammed Ziad Ahmed, 11, wounded by a live bullet in the right hand;
2) Bilal Jamal El-Da’abseh, 16, wounded by a live bullet in the left shoulder; and
3) Rami ‘Aatef El-Qahwaji, 16, wounded by a live bullet in the right leg.
In addition, dozens of demonstrators suffered from tear gas inhalation.
In a disproportionate retaliation in response to an attack on “Elli Sinai” settlement in Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip by two Palestinian gunmen, Israeli occupation forces killed six Palestinians, two farmers and four security men, and injured four.
Israeli occupation forces moved into areas under full control of the Palestinian National Authority, north of Beit Lahia, under the cover of intensive shelling, while bulldozers were sweeping land and destroying buildings.
At approximately 05:00 local time, Israeli occupation forces, reinforced with tanks and bulldozers, moved into Palestinian areas in the northern Gaza Strip. Israeli tanks and military locations around Jewish settlements established on Palestinian land in the north of Beit Lahia intensively shelled the Palestinian areas. The incursion coincided with an attack by Israeli gunboats on Beit Lahia. An artillery shell fell onto a Palestinian farm in Al-Sayafa area, north of Beit Lahia, 700m south of “Elli Sinai” settlement.
The owner of the farm, Maher Edris Ahmed Khudeir, 23, and a farmer, Mahmoud Mohammed El-Shurafa, 25, both from Beit Lahia, were killed.
The Israeli forces moved into Palestinian areas from two directions; 1-2 km from the north towards the south, and 3-3½ km from the east towards the west. They shelled eight Palestinian security sites, adjacent to Jewish settlements, totally destroying them. At approximately 07:50 local time, site (6) of the Palestinian National Security Forces, south of “Dogit” settlement, was shelled by the Israeli forces.
Three Palestinian security men were killed as follows:
1) Nour El-Din Mohammed Salim Qweider, 24, from Al-Daraj neighborhood in Gaza City, killed by shrapnel from an artillery shell in the upper part of the body;
2) Mahmoud Ibrahim Abu Hani, 19, from Al-Shati refugee camp, killed by shrapnel from an artillery shell throughout the body; and
3) Wa’el Fu’ad ‘Awwad, 25, from Deir El-Balah, killed by shrapnel from an artillery shell throughout the body.
Furthermore, three security men were injured as follows:
1) Mohammed Ahmed ‘Awadh, 23, from Sheikh Radwan in Gaza City, seriously injured by shrapnel from an artillery shell throughout the body;
2) Sufian ‘Abdel-Fattah Abu El-Jedian, 28, from Tal El-Za’tar area in Jabalya, injured by shrapnel from an artillery shell in the chest; and
3) Nader Tawfiq El-Bes, 22, from Tal El-Za’tar area in Jabalya, injured by shrapnel in the left hand.
They were evacuated to Shifa’ Hospital in Gaza City.
At approximately 09:45 local time, Israeli occupation forces fired at Sayed Salim Mahmoud Ziara, 32, from Al-Tuffah neighborhood in Gaza City, a member of the Palestinian National Security Forces, killing him with a live bullet in the head.
In addition, a Palestinian farmer, Anwar Ramadan Abu Halima, 28, from Beit Lahia, was injured by shrapnel in the left hand. He was evacuated to Shifa’ Hospital in Gaza City.
At approximately 16:00 local time, Israeli occupation forces, positioned in “Ramat Yishai,” “Beit Hadasa” and Avraham Avino” settlements and in surrounding military locations, fired artillery shells and heavy and medium caliber bullets at Abu Sneineh, Al-Sheikh, ‘Ein Khair El-Din, Al-Zahed and Bab Al-Zawia neighborhoods, and Al-‘Adel, Al-Manara, Wadi Al-Heria, Al-Tuffah and Faisal streets in Hebron.
Heavy caliber bullets and shrapnel from artillery shells hit walls of ‘Aalia Hospital, destroying some of its equipment. Patients and the staff were extremely terrified.
At approximately 22:30 local time, the Israeli forces resumed shelling the city. The building of the Palestinian Chamber of Commerce and a civilian car were damaged. Furthermore, six Palestinian civilians were injured as follows:
1) Fatema Mustafa El-Juneidi, 70, injured by shrapnel in the face and the chest;
2) Bajes Mohammed Shureitah, 25, injured by shrapnel in the left leg;
3) Fares Mohammed El-Natsheh, 12, injured by shrapnel in the left thigh;
4) Hazem Salah Seder, 28, injured by a medium caliber bullet in the left hand that cut an artery;
5) Sa’id Ya’qoub Abu Rumouz, 44, injured by shrapnel in the chest and the left leg; and
6) Kamal Mousa El-Juneidi, 28, injured by shrapnel in the left shoulder.
At approximately 22:00 local time, Israeli occupation forces, positioned in Tal Zo’rob area at the Egyptian border, shelled Zo’rob neighborhood in Rafah. An artillery shell hit a house owned by Ahmed Salameh Abu Hashem, which had been also shelled on Saturday.
Another flat, owned by Saleh Ahmed Abu Hashem, in which six people live, was burnt. At the same time, Israeli occupation forces, positioned in a military location in Al-Mawasi area in Rafah, opened fire on Palestinian houses in Tal Al-Sultan neighborhood, west of Rafah.
A 15-year-old Palestinian civilian, Salim ‘Ali Abu El-‘Sa’id, was injured by a live bullet in the right thigh, while he was near his family’s house. He was evacuated to Al-Joneina Hospital in Rafah. According to medical sources, he was in stable condition.

They shelled eight Palestinian security sites, adjacent to Jewish settlements, totally destroying them. At approximately 07:50 local time, site (6) of the Palestinian National Security Forces, south of “Dogit” settlement, was shelled by the Israeli forces.
Three Palestinian security men were killed as follows:
1) Nour El-Din Mohammed Salim Qweider, 24, from Al-Daraj neighborhood in Gaza City, killed by shrapnel from an artillery shell in the upper part of the body;
2) Mahmoud Ibrahim Abu Hani, 19, from Al-Shati refugee camp, killed by shrapnel from an artillery shell throughout the body; and
3) Wa’el Fu’ad ‘Awwad, 25, from Deir El-Balah, killed by shrapnel from an artillery shell throughout the body.
Furthermore, three security men were injured as follows:
1) Mohammed Ahmed ‘Awadh, 23, from Sheikh Radwan in Gaza City, seriously injured by shrapnel from an artillery shell throughout the body;
2) Sufian ‘Abdel-Fattah Abu El-Jedian, 28, from Tal El-Za’tar area in Jabalya, injured by shrapnel from an artillery shell in the chest; and
3) Nader Tawfiq El-Bes, 22, from Tal El-Za’tar area in Jabalya, injured by shrapnel in the left hand.
They were evacuated to Shifa’ Hospital in Gaza City.
At approximately 09:45 local time, Israeli occupation forces fired at Sayed Salim Mahmoud Ziara, 32, from Al-Tuffah neighborhood in Gaza City, a member of the Palestinian National Security Forces, killing him with a live bullet in the head.
In addition, a Palestinian farmer, Anwar Ramadan Abu Halima, 28, from Beit Lahia, was injured by shrapnel in the left hand. He was evacuated to Shifa’ Hospital in Gaza City.
At approximately 16:00 local time, Israeli occupation forces, positioned in “Ramat Yishai,” “Beit Hadasa” and Avraham Avino” settlements and in surrounding military locations, fired artillery shells and heavy and medium caliber bullets at Abu Sneineh, Al-Sheikh, ‘Ein Khair El-Din, Al-Zahed and Bab Al-Zawia neighborhoods, and Al-‘Adel, Al-Manara, Wadi Al-Heria, Al-Tuffah and Faisal streets in Hebron.
Heavy caliber bullets and shrapnel from artillery shells hit walls of ‘Aalia Hospital, destroying some of its equipment. Patients and the staff were extremely terrified.
At approximately 22:30 local time, the Israeli forces resumed shelling the city. The building of the Palestinian Chamber of Commerce and a civilian car were damaged. Furthermore, six Palestinian civilians were injured as follows:
1) Fatema Mustafa El-Juneidi, 70, injured by shrapnel in the face and the chest;
2) Bajes Mohammed Shureitah, 25, injured by shrapnel in the left leg;
3) Fares Mohammed El-Natsheh, 12, injured by shrapnel in the left thigh;
4) Hazem Salah Seder, 28, injured by a medium caliber bullet in the left hand that cut an artery;
5) Sa’id Ya’qoub Abu Rumouz, 44, injured by shrapnel in the chest and the left leg; and
6) Kamal Mousa El-Juneidi, 28, injured by shrapnel in the left shoulder.
At approximately 22:00 local time, Israeli occupation forces, positioned in Tal Zo’rob area at the Egyptian border, shelled Zo’rob neighborhood in Rafah. An artillery shell hit a house owned by Ahmed Salameh Abu Hashem, which had been also shelled on Saturday.
Another flat, owned by Saleh Ahmed Abu Hashem, in which six people live, was burnt. At the same time, Israeli occupation forces, positioned in a military location in Al-Mawasi area in Rafah, opened fire on Palestinian houses in Tal Al-Sultan neighborhood, west of Rafah.
A 15-year-old Palestinian civilian, Salim ‘Ali Abu El-‘Sa’id, was injured by a live bullet in the right thigh, while he was near his family’s house. He was evacuated to Al-Joneina Hospital in Rafah. According to medical sources, he was in stable condition.

At approximately 12:00 local time, students and employees of Bir Zeit University and members of the Popular Committee for the Protection of the Palestinian People demonstrated near an Israeli military roadblock on Ramallah-Bir Zeit road (Surda roadblock). Israeli occupation soldiers fired rubber-coated metal bullets and tear gas canisters at the demonstrators and at journalists who were in the area.
Two Palestinian journalists and a French citizen, member of the Popular Committee for the Protection of the Palestinian People, were wounded by rubber-coated metal bullets. Another Palestinian journalist suffered from tear gas inhalation and was beaten by Israeli soldiers. The wounded were:
1) Rebhi El-Kubri, 33, a journalist from Ramallah, wounded by a rubber-coated metal bullet in the left shoulder;
2) Mahmfouzh Abu Turk, 52, a journalist from Jerusalem, wounded by a rubber-coated metal bullet in the right leg;
3) Naliete Gie, 55, from France, wounded by a rubber-coated metal bullet in the head; and
4) Jaghoub Jareh Jaghoub, 25, a journalist from Ramallah, suffered from tear gas inhalation and was beaten.

At approximately 16:00 local time, dozens of Palestinian civilians demonstrated in the space separating Al-Amal neighborhood from “Gani Tal” settlement, west of Khan Yunis. They threw stones towards Israeli military vehicles in the vicinity of the settlement. Israeli occupation soldiers fired at the demonstrators, wounding three as follows:
1) Mahmoud Ibrahim Shahwan, 11, wounded by a rubber-coated metal bullet in the right eye;
2) Mohammed Ahmed El-Banna, 18, wounded by a live bullet in the left thigh; and
3) Ref’at Khalil Gannan, 18, wounded by shrapnel from a live bullet in the head.
At approximately 16:30 local time, Israeli occupation soldiers at Deir Ebzi’ roadblock near Ramallah, fired at Hisham ‘Abdullah Darraj, 25, from Kharabtha village near Ramallah, wounding him by a live bullet that entered the back and exited the abdomen.
He was fired at with no apparent reason when he was traveling in a taxi. PCHR was informed that Israeli soldiers evacuated Darraj to an Israeli hospital after they had denied the access of a Palestinian ambulance to the area.
At approximately 21:00 local time, Israeli occupation forces, positioned at the Egyptian border, south of Rafah, shelled Block “O” area, Tal Al-Sultan and Qeshta neighborhoods, and the west of Rafah refugee camp.
A number of Palestinian houses and civilian facilities were severely damaged as follows:
1) A bedroom of a 120-square-meter, one-story house, in which seven people live, owned by Mohammed Harb Abu Hilal, was totally burnt.
2) A 70-square-meter store, owned by Sa’di Mohammed Zo’rob, in which he had put all of his house’s furniture, was totally burnt.
3) An under-construction flat on the sixth floor of a 350-square-meter building, owned by ‘Ezzat ‘Abdel-Qader Dhuheir, was totally burnt.
4) Three greenhouses, owned by Farouq Mohammed Bureika, were totally burnt.
5) Front and back windows of a civilian car, owned by Ahmed Salameh Abu Hashem, were broken.
